"The Official 'True Blood' Vampire Thread" ...spoilers included.

Did anyone catch how in the episode before last Marnie called Sookie a "Demoness"? Was that an homage to Mr. Cataliades?

I hope not an homage. I want him to come into play. Can't wait to see how Ball ruins his character.

I feel like the opportunity for him to show up has passed. He showed up when Hadley was murdered. Hadley was murdered because of the Sophie Anne story line. Sophie Anne is already dead and Hadley has skipped town with her son.

The show has also said that sookie is a telepath because she's a fairy, not because Mr. Cataliades gave her telepathy. Her biological grandfather is the same man that Adele married in the show, so I'm not sure how they could possibly introduce the two of them.

We saw a Straw Dogs preview when we went to see The Help. Alexander really seemed like a different character there, looking forward to seeing him in it.

Naked Alcide was not too shabby tonight either. DH commented that he just realized why I like this show so much!

1. I HATED the first Straw Dogs, walked out, too depressing.

2. I nearly fainted when Alcide climbed into bed.

I think Alan Ball has turned this into his own show. It has no resemblance to the books now at all.
very disappointed in last nights show.
I don't get why Charlaine Harris would give such freedom to Alan Ball with these characters.
he ruined it by not having it be thru Sookie's POV as someone else said.
the only thing he did that is not in the book that I like is keep Lafayette.

Its gotten to a fanfictiony point. So many major character developments don't happen or are glossed over. Remember when Sookie found out why she met Bill that night at the bar? For like half of the next book she was calling him, "The Vampire" she wouldn't even say his name! And now eight episodes later some how she's having more fantasies about him and "loves him completely."

I feel like the show has done a disservice to Sookie's character. She was so much more firm and stable in her convictions in the book. She's more easily swayed in the show.

I really liked last nights episode. I loved the Debbie stuff. Poor Sookie thought Debbie was going to help her then Debbie threw her to the wolves (no pun intended). Naked Alcide is always okay in my book. The bantering between Bill and Nan while they were silvered was hysterical. All the while Jessica is crying and distraught....totally had me laughing.

I am okay with the series being different from the books and actually prefer it that way. This way, when I watch the show, it's something new. Not just regurgitated material.

I kind of disagree. There are so many characters and secondary stories (that we never heard about in the books) that the story would always be new even if they followed the progression of sookie's relationships.

Oh, heck.

Eh...I don't know. Most of the secondary characters had very little development in the books (IMO). The books mostly revolved around Sookie, Eric and Bill. While that translates well in paper, I don't know if it would have kept viewers tuned in...those that didn't read the books anyway. As a viewer, I appreciated that Ball has developed Lafayette, Arlene, Sam, Hoyt, etc. These characters just flit around Sookie in the books, barely touching her life without a true story of their own. This is HBO and Ball had to do what he has done to promote viewership...not just among the book lovers.

Now, I will concede that there are things that I am not thrilled with, but I believe that if you keep comparing the books and the show, you are never going to be happy. If you want to keep watching and enjoying, then you need to separate the two. At least that has been my experience. YMMV.

I think this is where I fall...I am beginning to like the show for what it is.."based on" the characters I know and love from the books..though I will never forgive Mr Ball for ruining the shower scene....

So my thoughts..

- I am liking Bill again...He is so conflicted...but he is really coming into his own this season.

- Eric...Though I do love my viking...he is wimpy this season...still not sure how I feel about it..

- Sam/Tommy - Seriously? Enough...

- Alicide...naked...YES PLEASE...you can climb into my bed like that ANYTIME...he has one FINE BOOTY!

- Debbie...most of us know where this is going..though the actress playing her is doing a GREAT job!

- Marnie/Witches...I must admit...I am liking it..and Fiona Shaw is an AWESOME actress! Though that one suck up guy needs to be killed off soon!

- Lala/Jesus...well...I must say...that was different...and just glad its over..LOL..

- Jason...so is the whole HotShot werepanther thing done? Talk about just dropping a storyline. Jessica and Jason are so cute together...though poor Hoyt...he can join Alcide and me in bed too...:rotfl:

ONLY 3 LEFT!!! ARGG!!!

My favorite parts from last night

1. LaFayette saying, "You're welcome, biitch" to Mavis. :lmao: DH just busted out laughing because its so something he would say, but it didn't fit with what was going on.

2. Alcide's butt. Its better than Eric's. I'm fine seeing it EVERY episode.

3. Jessica whining to Nan. "I wish I was deeeeeeeeeeeead." :rotfl:

4. The hint of old Eric in the dream sequence. I miss him. I'm over the new Eric.

I also can't believe there are only 3 episodes left. I was thinking we had another 4 or 5 left.

An interesting commentary on a possible Hoyt storyline..

Be advised, this commentary may contain spoilers, and they also have funny nicknames for a lot of ppl, but I think it has some good potential.

Hoyt story possibility

As much as I disliked last week's episode, I enjoyed this one. Again, the writer makes all the difference in the world.

Or perhaps it's because we really didn't have to deal with puppy-eyed Eric and Sookie.

I appreciated how they dealt with the Lafayette/Mavis storyline, instead of dragging it out.

I appreciated Alcide and wondered how many times they had to film that scene to get his arm placed correctly.

The Tommy line even was okay as he tried to set himself right in Sam's eyes by going to the fight for him.

Only complaint: They could have really gone a lot more "forward" with Sookie's dream. Considering the Rolling Stone cover, it seems none of the 3 have issues with taking it off for their art. It would have been the big moment of the show last night.

Didn't like the Debbie & Sookie being BFF's last night, but I don't think Debbie's sincere. :thumbsup2

I didn't realize that Joe Manganiello was as tall as Svensgaard. They could have their own one-on-one hoops match during breaks.

i actually really liked last nights episode! lots of humor, right from the get-go... "werewolf, I am going to need you to shut the **** up!" :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

The whole dream sequence was hysterically awkward and Bill and Nan arguing like an old married couple while their emotionally child cries in the background was awesome.

I'm confused as to the whole purpose of the Mavis storyline, other than something to do with all of those characters.... but at least it didn't drag on for 3 more seasons. Maybe now we can get past the "posessed Mikey" thing once and for all.

Is anyone else curious as to how Alcide was able to just burst into Sookie's house when she was injured? Or how Mavis/Lafayette could just barge on into Hoyt's place? Doesn't anyone in Bon Temps lock their dang doors?? :confused3

I guess there are still parts of the US where people don't need burglar alarms and locks.

Then again, I've seen lots of TV shows/movies that take place in NYC where people walk into open apartments. Talk about fiction:lmao:

I warned everyone a couple weeks ago this show has a short season. :(

Jessica & Nan were hilarious. I'm surprised Nan sat through it all. :lmao: I guess Bill made her babysit Jessica while he went to confront Antonia.

I had to Google Joe & Alex's height. Alex is always so much taller than Bill/Stephen, and it really showed last night.

Alex is 6'4" and Joe is 6'5".

Odd, I thought I remember somebody saying Alex was 6'6". I was basing Joe's height on the comment the wolfpack leader made in last night's episode. 6'5" or 6'6", that's still tall to me!

I don't get why Charlaine Harris would give such freedom to Alan Ball with these characters.

She probably didn't have much choice in the negotiations. She's not J.K. Rowling, who can literally walk from any deal she doesn't want because she's got more money than she will ever need, and a huge, loyal fan base.

I remember reading some old interview by Stephen King. He said at the beginning of his career, he was so happy when studios approached him on making many of his books into movies. He did it for the money & the exposure, taking his career to a new level. He hadn't understood how much of his rights he had signed away. Or how the crap movies would also be attached to his and his books' image & reputation.

After they massacred many of his books (on massacres ;)) he swore he would never let that happen again. He'd rather not have the movies made at all. It's rare to see a Stephen King movie now, or any project in which he also isn't one of the executive producers where he can maintain some artistic control.

There are a few towns around here that are like that...but these people live in Bon Temps and they always complain about the crazy stuff going on....LOCK YOUR DOORS THEN!! WTH??? Even in the books Charlaine makes it a point on several occassions that Sookie has to get her key to unlock her door...and how Eric nailed the door shut after Debbie broke in. So I guess Bon Temps is only THAT safe in "Alan Ball World" :confused3
