The Official T-Rex Cafe Thread!

Just don't go to Rainforest cafe in Niagara Falls...you think WDW is expensive? try 70 bucks for 2 adults and a child just for hamburgers!! I kid you not.

The RFC in Niagra Falls is the only one not owned by Landry's. They don't set the prices or the menus. We spent $250 for a buffet (5 adults) in Niagra Falls a few weeks ago. Compared to a Disney buffet it was pitiful! Afterwards I said to my friend that I won't complain about the food prices at WDW again!

I like the RFC - Rumble in the Jungle turkey wrap - yum! We're going to the RFC in December, but will check out the T-Rex next August when our young nephews are with us.

How do you get in to eat here? I read that they don't take reservations through WDW-Dine but is there another # you can call to make a reservation or do you just show up and see if they have anything available?

You just show up and walk up to the outside desk. When your table is ready they will announce your "expedition."

I don't understand what the excitement is. I could understand if it were a different place to eat. Apparently its just a RFC with a different cover. :confused3

For me, the excitement is the fun my son will have. I cannot wait to see the excitement on his face when he gets to eat with dinos. For me it isn't how gourmet the food is or how long the wait is...just the joy on my son's face. :goodvibes

I was going to say the same thing. I'd go here for my kids (same as character dining) not because I'm looking for the best meal of my life, but for the experience my boys will have. can you imagine what this place looks like from a child's level!

My inner 7 year old totally wants to eat next to a Triceratops. :)

Does anyone know if you can use your Safari Club card there? I'm pretty sure you can, but I wasn't sure if you could still get the appetizer or just the 10% off? Thanks!

we just ate lunch at t-rex. The atmosphere is great. my kids loved it and so did I. the food was good. kind of cheap compared to other restaurants I have eaten at here. I don't like the fact that you have to pay more for fries (chips come with the meal). there were tons of staff and the service was great. we went at lunch- 12:30, was told 65 minutes and actually waited 30 to be seated. One of the staff said it gets crazy at 5:00- she said it was a 2.5 hour wait last night for dinner! so if you are going to go go for lunch

ITA with those talking about RFC in Niagara Falls - yikes!! We encountered that last year.

For those not understanding the excitement - for many of us with boys - this is finally something "for them" (not to be so gender biased, of course many girls, including mine like dinosaurs too!! But I hope you get the gist of what I mean). Both my kids like CM and CP, but DD and I will be going to CRT. T-Rex is a meal that will be special for my son. Like other said, I'm not expecting fabulous food, I'll be happy with decent. It's the theming we'll be going for!

I'm only at 6 posts and can't post links yet, but the menus are posted on allears.net now too.

The "tons" of staff is usually just for the opening. You will see that number dwindle after a while as they did in RFC as well as PH.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but did the T-Rex cafe replace the RFC, or are they both at DTD now? I ask, because the pictures look exactly like the RFC, just with Dinos instead of animals. It seems kind of strange to have 2 restaurants so similar, so close to each other. Of course it is Disney, and they can get away with things like that.
We like the RFC, but we have one here in Mexico City, so it's not that big of a deal, but I'm sure we'll have to give this place a try the next time we are there.

See my post #91 on this thread.

I wrote to Landry's about a month ago asking about the Safari Card use at TRex and was told that it's not accepted at TRex, nor do they have an equivalent card for TRex "at this time".

I had been hoping to use the Card to get preferred seating but can't do that or get the appetizer/discount either.

Sigh.....and my kids REALLY want to eat here. I agree with others, if it was MY choice, I'd skip it, but since they really want to try it we'll head over and see how bad the wait is....hopefully they have the same pagers as RFC in DTD which means that you can wander away and shop while waiting. I'm hoping if the wait is crazy the kids will opt for something else....I'm trying to come up with a good alternative that won't be jam packed, but coming up empty, so I may have to suggest going off site to their favorite fast food....it's worse food, but cheaper and we don't have one at home so they always want to go at least once when we travel. Ugh....what a choice.
