The Official Spring 2007 CP

Then I see the person they all sent me to and she asked me why the heck I would want to do this. Flat out with the more colorful term too.

I haven't actually recieved my acceptance/rejection letter, but I'm already worried about this. I have to go through my academic advisor, who on the first day of the class I have him for, announced his complete and utter disdain for all things Disney. This will be an interesting conversation. :rotfl:

I'm in the same boat. I wanna get working on this but I know I better wait until I have specifics. I'm at a community college that is well let's say a little rural. The transfer/completion rate isn't even 10%. So I'm just using them for the cheap genral ed stuff. When I get back from CP I'll be starting my BA. Good luck with the disney hater villan! LoL

To go through another school like Cen. Michigan don't you have to pay quite a high tuition rate though just to have a transcript when you can get credit direct through ACE? I'm a little confused. I looked at Cen. Michigan's site and it looks like it would be a lot of money to get a full-time credit of 12 credits/units. If it doesn't cost it would be one thing but if all they are going to do is offer credit then it doesn't seem to make much sense. I wish there was a disney liason for all of this that knows the ins and outs. Once you get in the program is there someone that helps you will all the classes/school aspect?

ACE is not a credit granting institution. The courses provided are recommended for credit, which is an important distinction -- to obtain any university credit for taking them, the university has to be willing to grant credit for the class. The "transcript" you get from ACE only shows that you have completed the classes; unless your college chooses to give you credit for them, it's pretty much just a piece of paper.

CMU and UNC are fully accredited institutions -- essentially, you would be like a visiting student at either institution. It isn't Disney providing the credit or the transcript, it's CMU or UNC-Greensboro. Courses from both schools comprise more than just taking the one Disney class; they include extra papers (or an extra paper, in the case of CMU) and working with a professor.

The CP education office is happy to proctor tests and provide reference materials through the Disney Learning Centers, provide syllabi of the courses you may take through them, put you in contact with instructors, and provide information to advisors. They do make it clear, though, that obtaining credit for the courses you take is up to you, not them.

You might also look into whether or not your school has a co-op program; typically they have slightly looser requirements than an internship program and that could be an option as well.

Thanks! I'll look into the co-op thing when I go out to champus for class tomorrow. But is the cost per unit on their site what you are charged? Cause it just seemed like a lot of money for 12 credits. But I guess I have been spoiled with fee waivers and community college low cost. I'm glad to hear they help you out down there. I just wish that school wasn't a worry with going down there!

I went to the UNC site but all I could find on cost was the $20. registration fee. It looked like you could not get the actual disney cost until you paid and then called in. However it did indicate that cost were less than on campus out of state rates. Can anyone give me an idea of what the cost are currently running?

I got my acceptance letter, so I may see you in the Spring.

That is the problem for me. Any of the schools offering credit are expensive and I don't have that kind of money especially for 12 units/credits. I just need my paperwork so I can get the ball rolling with my school now. I may be able to fanaggle something with my new school I'll be attending when I get back to start my BA.

YAY, I'M IN!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Spring, Merchandise! Though I wish I would have gotten Advantage (I was GOING to say Advantage, but my friend said Spring, so I changed it. Then, they gave her Advantage and gave me Spring. Doh!) No worries, though. AWESOME!

That's awsome. Congrats. And if you decide you like it enough, you could try to extend over the summer. Btw, merchandise is a fun role. I had it my first CP.

The wife and I just got acceptance packets!!! Custodial for her, QSFB for me. I wanted custodial sorta, but our recruiter was pretty lousy and didn't ask for requests or top choices or anything.

Another unmarried couple is also applying with us, and one has been accepted for merchandise, so just waiting on one more!!!

Can't wait!!! :woohoo:

Ladies and gentlement, laidies and gentlemen, May I have your attention, I have an urgent announcement.

I GOT IN!!!!! WOOOHOOOOO

Very excited, a little nervous about how I am supposed to explain this to my parents, but I think many people probably go through this...Hopefully this is the first step in a fruitful and happy career with DISNEY.

And congrats to all who made it to, we need to get together when we get there and throw a party...

I hope they dont work us into the ground like I hear they do! And also, since I am so excited, a huge packet was mailed to my house today, I am driving to Jacksonville tomm to get it, then tell my parents what the deal is....wish me luck!!!

Congrats! What is your role going to be? And just so you know, the work hours depend on the work location. Some areas have more hours then others. But anyway, congrats and good luck with telling your parents.

Congrats! Oh but you forgot Donald in there! j/k At least you're in the state already! Hope to see ya down there.... :yay:

I'm in for sure now! I was originally placed in housekeeping, but didn't want to do that, so I called and managed to get switched into merchandise. After that, I finally accepted! So I'm arriving January 6th. :Pinkbounc

So how long did it take from when you interviewed to get your packet?

Congradulations!!!

I still haven't heard anything- its been 12 days since my audition and 11 since my interview. I'm preeeeeeeeeetty frustrated. I'm still super excited. I think thats prolly a good thing. There so much to do!
