The Official Riviera Owners & Info Thread

I am thinking about buying 150 points at Riviera. And split them into two 75 points contracts, or three 50 point contracts. My thought process being that if I ever have to sell these for whatever reason, it will be easier and they will sell for more per point.

Will I get the blue member card if I split the points into different contracts?
Yes, as long as your points are all in the same membership (almost definitely will be), you will have your blue card membership. Just means if you ever sell any part, you’ll lose that status…unless you’ve purchased more direct points elsewhere to make up for it!

Splitting up your Riviera points is a great idea! If you don’t mind the extra closing costs of 3 50pt contracts, they should sell well if ever need be, especially once the resort is sold out. Although, personally, I’d love a 75pointer in my use year so I think 75 is still a great number of points to put on the resale market and should still sell reasonably well.

thank you for the tip! I think 75 points would be a good idea then since its easier long term. I can put my husband on them too, right? I just want him to be able to have the member benefits when I am not around.

Of course, I believe you can have 6(?) people on a single membership? Could be wrong about that exact number but I know plenty of people have their spouses and kids, or even their parents on their memberships. Just want to make sure, if you ever buy more contracts, direct or resale, and you don’t want multiple memberships for no reason, that you stay consistent with who’s on your membership.

Do you already have a membership? If not 1 contract will have to be the minimum buy in amount. It was 100 (and still think it is). So you could only split to 100 and 50 if it’s a new membership. You may be able to get them to give an exemption, but they were very strict when I bought and wanted to split smaller (I was getting a new UY).

Are you a current member? If not, they won't let you do 2/75. As a new member one of your contracts needs to be at least 100 points

oh I didn't know that. I guess 100/50 would be a good idea too.

thank you for the information, I appreciate all the help everyone!

Looking for some advice. Considering trying out this resort for a change. Home resort is BLT. Looking for a 1br for a week. Any suggestions on rooms we should go for, prefer higher floors?
How do these rooms compare with BLT?

High floor is always great! And 1bdrm availability is usually decent even at 7mo, well, at least preferred rooms! Standard you might still have a chance but maybe just at 7mos.

If you’re looking to be closer to the skyliner (or if you book a standard view room) ask for a west wing/higher floor room so you can see Spaceship Earth and fireworks (from a distance). If you’d rather be closer to the dining (or booked a preferred view room), ask for an east wing room. The resort as a whole is very compact and convenient so you’re never too far from anything really.

I’ve never stayed at BLT, but from my understanding the rooms there are pretty outdated and really need a refurbishment, so Riviera will be a really refreshing upgrade. The rooms are airy and very pretty. They also feel very spacious and the 1bdrm is just amazing. BLT 1bdrms do have an extra bathroom so you’ll be missing that I’m sure. But RIV does have a split bathroom so at least 2 spaces to get ready in the morning.

The 1BR at Riviera is fantastic. You lose out on the second bathroom but the spaciousness of the room, Skyliner access and just the decor of the room is great. IMO they’re nicer than BLT’s but also that's not entirely fair to BLT because BLT is about to undergo a hard refurb but currently they’re a lot nicer.

Try to request a 1BR in a high floor in the west wing.

Thank you. Much appreciated. Does the Riveria 1Br have a washer dryer ?

Just bought in January for the Riviera and are staying there for the first time in a few weeks. Is there anything we HAVE to know to get the most out of our stay? We will be going to Universal mostly on this trip with a couple of resort days to just hang out. Any advice is appreciated.

Not much to say, just enjoy the resort and take your time. Primo Piatto is one of our favorite quick services and Topolino's is one of our favorite table services. It's nice watching the fireworks from up there but even if you aren't planning to eat up there it's not like your trip is ruined. The whole resort is very laid back and I'm sure you'll have a great time regardless. Welcome home!

I'd say maybe spend some time in WDW too in your first DVC trip, enjoy the Skyliner access to Epcot and DHS :)

I gave up coffee long ago but make an exception for the cold brew at Le Petit Cafe - either almond or cinnamon - with their house-made honey-almond whipped cream. So so good!

We have done a few WDW trips. We are doing the after hours party at DHS one night. And might ride the skyliner around to see the sights. We will be back 8-)
