So super glad I found this thread, kept looking on the resort board hoping it would pop up sooner or later.

I too just love the tikiman site...awesome! And now glad I can stay in the Poly know, with this thread. Working my way through the 2007 posts going on page 123 next.

Planning our 5th trip, 2nd with kids and 1st time at the Poly and we can't wait, we'll be making many more trips to the World, but this may be a one and only opportunity to have a stay at the Poly with a family of 6.

I'll be back after I've gone thru all the posts with any remaining questions and then some.

Thanks to all those before me and hope to find some fun Disers maybe going at the same time!:goodvibes

Hi all!

I have been going back and forth between WL and Poly for quite awhile. I am leaning towards Poly, but would really appreciate your input.

I have only stayed at AS resorts in the past. This trip (July '09) is going to be our BIG trip :woohoo: . Our DD's will be 7 & 4 when we go. I have read that there are different buildings at the Poly to stay in...which one is better? How is the pool? Anyone try the kid club?

Any specific info I should definetly know? Give me whatever you have...I can't book until next August, so I need something to plan in the mean time ;).

Thanks alot!!!!!!!

Although I prefer the WL for fall trips, the Poly is a must for summer trips. With that said I recommend looking at the map on tikiman's site. He breaks down the pros and cons of each building. Only you know what is important to you. I have never made a specific building request at the Poly, I always request a balcony but thats my only request. The resort is not large and from one end to the other maybe 7-8 minutes tops.

We have never used the kids club.

Our kids range in age from 9 months-17 yrs old and they all enjoy the Poly pool. Its in their top three favorite Disney pools.

Great food options.

Great location!!!

Well of course, I get home and low and behold he has packed the blow dryer from the room!!!!:confused3 :rolleyes1 It does look a lot like ours from home, but I did not bring our hair dryer!!! Anyone know a number I can call to get an address to send the dryer back? I feel horrible but it really was an accident! Any recommendations?

OMGOSH! My husband did this too!! We got back from our trip on Sept 10 and I unpacked to find the Conair 1875 in my bag!! :scared1: I said to DH HONEY!! this is not mine, its the Polynesian's! I have it boxed up ready to be returned but needed the address. I am glad someone posted it, thanks! :rotfl:

Call the Poly... see what they say... it may not be worth it to them to have it sent back....

Good luck...

Talked with the Poly today, Told them the whole story, about the accidentally stolen blow dryer and they didn't tell me not to worry about it when I offered to return it, so I'm assuming they want the dryer back!! :rotfl: They were super nice about it, and even laughed when I told them, how it happened. Thanks for the information!

OMG ... all these horrible hair dryer thieves ... have you heard about them??? :rotfl2: ... and here I was thinking the dryers were stolen by Pirates!!!!!!!!! It is WDW after all!!!

Just thought it was funny ... I remember walking out of a restaurant with the cloth napkin in my hand. The workers must have thought I was such a jerk ... "she left us a good tip but she stole the linens???" ha ha ...

I'm booked for another wonderful trip in Feb 08 at the Poly -- DH and I just fell in love with it!

I'm sure it is already posted but there are new shampoos and stuff, right? H2O??? did I hear. I don't think I used any that was there before ... though those Mickey Soaps did make it into my suitcase ... it was an accident, I swear ... :rolleyes1

I believe you... honestly....

(cross my heart and hope to die...as God is my witness... I did not intend to steal the soaps!!!! ) :sad2:

Ok, so, obviously there are coffee makers in the rooms. But what kind of coffee do they supply? In case I am far from the CGH, should I just buy some Kona for the room?

Thanks!

So glad that I've found this thread - lots of information though!

My DS is dying to stay at the Poly during our trip next June. We are a party of seven, and I'm trying to find out if there is anyone that has had a larger party staying at the Poly? From what I can gather on the website, we'll have to get two rooms or stay CL?

Thanks for any help - hoping to get through the previous 164 pages this week!

I would guess either way you will need two rooms, I think even conciege only sleeps 5 max...

About the room coffee. You know I don't know the brand but it is the usual hotel kind ... in pods.

The coffee is ok in a pinch (I am desperate to drink some while waiting for DH to get ready) ... and is ok but I never make the amount they indicate a pod makes. It would be too weak for me. Make it strong and it is all right.

I am thinking of bringing some of my own coffee to use. Just not sure what size filters but I think regular will be ok and I'll just squish it in somehow. I don't normally get the pods.

DW and I are at the Polynesian right now

The coffee is Cafe Valet, 100% Arabica coffee. Makes a weak pot of coffee.

We bring Maxwell House filter packs. Makes a strong pot.;)

Remember, they don't sell coffee creamer or sugar here. :scared1:

No creamer or sugar? :scared1:

I guess Captain Cooks will sell milk, and I can snag some sugar packets too, right? Lol.

Is it the 12 cup filter packs? Hope you are having a great stay, we will be there soon.

Earlier tonight I was talking with my Dad about our upcoming stay at the Polynesian in December and he mentioned to me about how it might be harder to find the Hawaii Longhouse at night. Obviously during the day it would be a lot easier, anyway I was just wondering at night time how hard is it to find the Longhouses assuming you know where you're going?

NeverlandPixie - Yeah can get cartons of milk at Trader Jacks and sugar at
Kona Cafe ! We grabbed some (12) from Ghiradella's in
Downtown Disney when we were shopping! SHUSH!

WeCantWait - We bring the 4-6 cup filter packs - just right for us.
The coffee pot makes 4 cups when filled with water to the
metal band on the pot.

Hope this helps and wish all of u - GOOD VOYAGE !

The Hawaii building is very easy to locate at night. People do sometimes get turned around at night, but usually it is when they are trying to navigate from GCH to Tahiti. Hawaii is a fairly simple walk from GCH, the bus stop or the boat launch. I don't think you will have a problem once you've acclimated yourself to the surroundings. The learning curve for that isn't too tough. ;)

Lucky you at the Poly now. Can you tell what kind of hair dryer is in your room? If it's high powered like most of us have at home then I'm not bringing mine. Thanks

When we stayed in Tahiti it was a very long walk just to go get a drink, but we found a way to make it faster.
