I think it's because the DIS is owned by Dreams Unlimited Travel. It makes sense that they wouldn't want to advertise for other travel agents, or want those advertisements linked on here.

I don't think the DIS boards are owned by DU -- but rather DU is a sponsor? :confused3 Either way, i think mentioning his site should be allowed,, it is full of great info! :thumbsup2 He himself doesn't own a travel agency.. So, i think by visiting his site, it doesn't mean that we would be supporting another TA.. ya know? :surfweb: He just is full of GREAT info on the Poly!

I am getting sooooooooo excited!! Only 9 more weeks!!  Can't wait to try Tonga Toast and a Dole Whip!! LOL :woohoo:

I am considering leaving them there one night so DH and I can just walk around MK. I haven't seen it mentioned that often and wanted to know if it would appeal to them. Any additional information about the activities there would be nice.
TIA
Elizabeth

My DD8 went there one night in January and LOVED it. To enter, the kids "go through" the window into Wendy's bedroom. They have them color and draw. They can watch a video (by Disney, of course). And they provide the kids with dinner. Enjoy your night out at MK with your DH!

What is the difference between MK view and lagoon view? I'm trying to decide between CR, WL and Poly. We loved spending time at the Poly during our last stay (for dinner) but trying to get what room you want seems a pain. Any suggestions??

Mentioning his site is allowed, you just are not allowed to post a link to his site. The problem is that his site URL is filtered here, and if you try to post the URL in a way to get around the filter that is a violation of the DIS rules.

Just tell people to google tikiman and they will easily find his site.

If anything that I have said is not in accordance with the DIS rules I am sure one of the Mods will correct me.

I'm also wondering about this my kids are 9 and 10 and we plan on them staying one night while we go to dinner. Are there computers or other actvities besides coloring??

"Dave Venables" , Genreal Manager (am I allowed to post that?)

LOL when I read this, isn't that the QVC host???:rotfl2:

Ok thanks! I am glad we are able to at least mention tikiman!! His site was so helpful to me when we first booked the poly.

Just back from our first stay at the Poly 9/7-17, and to answer a few earlier questions....

Hairdryers - hmmm...for long, thick hair....you may want to pack your own. If there is room. They provide the small, travel size hairdryers. Powerful enough for my shoulder-length hair, but I think that longer hair would have taken quite a while to dry.

Linens - they were switched out while we were there. We definitely noticed a difference in the towels, but not so much with the sheets. The sheets were so starched/ironed that they still felt really crisp, and not so soft or luxurious by any means. Towels much better though.

Any other questions???

Happy to say that after much debate, I switched our reservation for spring break to the Poly! We are now booked in gardenview Club level. I can hardly wait!! Plus, it has been hard to keep it a secret from the kids. Mommy is so excited, it's all I want to talk about.

Thanks. If they only have travel size hair dryer then I will need mine or it will take forever to dry :headache: . Too bad they don't go for luxury linens.

Pete Werner owns the DIS Boards. He also is part owner (or at the very least has some sort of business interest) in Dreams Unlimited. Dreams Unlimited is also a sponsor of these boards (irrelevent of whether Pete owns or doesn't own DU).

In a nutshell, no matter whatever anyone else thinks about this issue, Pete Werner owns this site; his backyard, his toys. We can choose to play here by his rules, or not be allowed to play here at all. Whether we like or agree with Pete's rules, they're his to decide on. ::yes::

EDITED TO ADD: For the record, I am a HUGE fan of Tikiman's and I'm glad that we can still recommend his site here, even without posting a direct link. I've met Steve (Tikiman) and his family, and they could not have been nicer or more sincere in their affection for the Polynesian resort, and in their desire to furnish up-to-date resort information to others in the form of a fun, loaded-with-pictures, complete web site. :thumbsup2 :surfweb:

SeaSpray, I agree.. And we love his backyard! LOL ;)

What a wonderful trip! My family just returned from a 5 night stay at the Poly! Everything was absolutely wonderful! Rooms were perfect, clean, and actually more than expected for our Garden View room. We were in Raratonga, and it was just perfect for our family! Monorail service definitely was a big plus for us!
The only problem that we had was that twice we asked for directions, and both times, we were lost for an hour!
Now for my problem... My DH let my DD and I go to Downtown Disney this morning for some last minute shopping, while he and my DS did the packing! (I know, what a great man!) Well of course, I get home and low and behold he has packed the blow dryer from the room!!!!:confused3 :rolleyes1 It does look a lot like ours from home, but I did not bring our hair dryer!!! Anyone know a number I can call to get an address to send the dryer back? I feel horrible but it really was an accident! Any recommendations?

Glad you had a great stay! How many watts is the hair dryer? If it's powerful enough I may leave mine home after all :) . Thanks.

Just wondering - I've read a lot about the long waits for buses at the Poly (mainly to DTD, MGM and AK) and wondered if anyone has used the buses at TTC instead of the Poly buses to go to these places? If so, was the wait better???

Hi all!

I have been going back and forth between WL and Poly for quite awhile. I am leaning towards Poly, but would really appreciate your input.

I have only stayed at AS resorts in the past. This trip (July '09) is going to be our BIG trip :woohoo: . Our DD's will be 7 & 4 when we go. I have read that there are different buildings at the Poly to stay in...which one is better? How is the pool? Anyone try the kid club?

Any specific info I should definetly know? Give me whatever you have...I can't book until next August, so I need something to plan in the mean time ;).

Thanks alot!!!!!!!

Thanks for the address and phone number. That is what I needed! I'll be sending the dryer back in the morning. :cool1:
By the way, it is a Conair 1875, whatever that means... Fine for my medium length thick hair!

As far as the bus wait times, we were there a couple of days ago, and waited maybe 10-15 minutes to get the AK bus. Not a bad wait really, but that was the only bus we actually tried to catch. We drove ourselves to Downtown Disney, and walked to the TTC the rest of the time. It's an easy walk.
