Question for all of the Poly experts....does anyone know when the construction at the resort will be finished? I saw on some pictures on Tikimans site that showed the monorail station under construction but was just curious if it was going to be like that when we stay there at the end of August. Thanks in advance!:)

I think they were re-roofing it, but truthfully you don't notice it unless you're at the monorail station. I myself prefer the boat so I only saw it once :)

I even tried to PM you (Redbudlover) with the site and it won't let me! Tikiman sure got on someone's BAD list! A shame.

If you can't find it -- PM me with your e-mail address and I will be happy to try it that way! But I am ok if you just don't feel comfortable doing that! :)

His site is AWESOME despite the DIS Board Censure!

Tikiman's site has everything you could possibly want to know about the Poly...maybe more, lol. :) It is a great site and easily found through a search engine.

I don't know why the site is *** out, except that now he has a travel agency that might conflict with the one the DIS uses. You can't link to competitors; it is against the rules, which makes sense. :)

That does make sense "sunee" so it may have just been conflict of interest and not that he did anything bad. But it is a fun site. I still love the DIS threads the best but it is fun to look at other sites too!

Hey another topic. Anyone been at the Poly recent enough to be in the newly renovated Captain Cooks? Did you like it? What are the hours? Yes, I know I could probably find on Dining or such ... but want some Poly Lover's opinions. What was on the menu (non-breakfast). Thanks!

According to the email I received from Tikiman, he has no affiliation with the travel agency he has a link to on his site. I'm not making any judgements one way or the other, just stating the information he gave to those of us who subscribe to his emails.

I haven't been to Captain Cook's yet because this will be our first stay at the Polynesian but someone posted some great pics a few months back. If I can find them I'll post the link.

Edited to add: Ok, here are some pics - it looks very nice!

We decided to go ahead and spend the entire 6 nights at Poly!!! I'm literally jumping with joy!!

Could anyone tell me if they're still playing Finding Nemo outdoors on the beach area? I had read that awhile back on this thread but haven't heard anything else about it. Thanks in advance.

I read on one of the posts there is a fozen blue drink at the Pop. Is there also a fozen drink you can get free refills of with the mug at Captian Cooks? Also have all the rooms been given the new red and black/flat screen tv look. We were at the Polynesian last year at the first of June and Capt. Cooks was being redone so we didn't get to use the refillable mugs.

Thanks

The only Resorts to offer Frozen Coke is the Contemporary and Pop Century, so it's not available at Captin Cooks.

As for your other question all the rooms now have the flat screen tv's.

I am so excited for you and know exactly how you feel. We were at the POFQ which I was excited about when my hubby and parents decided that being on a monorail would be best for all of us, especially with 3 kids. I jumped on that and now are staying 9 nights at the POLY in Oct. Yeah us!!! :)

Anyone know anything about renting watercrafts at the marina? I've heard there is a "multiuse family plan"...

There was a length of stay plan at the Polynesian and other resorts 2 or 3 years ago but it always seemed seasonal. I haven't seen any reports at the Polynesian lately. But just check at the rental hut when you arrive. It was never advertised anyway as far as I know.

We just got back home yesterday and honestly, you wouldn't know anything was going on, other than the brown screen-like netting that they have over the openings on the monorail platform.

The only inconvenience it causes, is that it blocks your view of the water/garden area near the downstairs entrance, when you're upstairs.

For anyone interested, painters started painting the interior of the GCH on Friday. The smell was very strong at times, but other than that, it caused no inconvenience.

We absolutely loved the resort. I noticed some wear and tear on both our room, and more noticeably in the GCH, but it's quickly grown to be my favorite resort. So much so, that we're planning a return trip next year! :cool1:

I don't see any mention of it in our Island Palm Press. I just bought a new printer/scanner today and haven't hooked it up yet, but if anyone is interested, I can try to scan my copy in the next few days.

We just switched from OKW to the Poly last week and we're so excited. I booked the 1 bedroom at OKW for the extra space but I couldn't get the Poly off my mind - the monorail, landscaping, fireworks, EWP, the beach and on and on. So I wrote down the pros and cons of each resort and the Poly had more pros plus it saved us $$.

The washer and dryer was a big thing for me but I'll find a way around it - maybe wash out kids clothes in the sink w/those Tide sink tablets. Or I'll just spend a nap time in the laundry room while DH stays w/the kiddos. We'll see how it goes..its only for a week anyway. Anyway thought I'd subscribe to this thread and keep up w/all the Poly news!:thumbsup2

Today we decided to extend our trip next week from four days to six. My DH's best friend and family will be in the Orlando area, so we decided to stay and hang out with them for a few days (they are living in Ft. Meyers). We were already doing a split stay, two days at BC and two days at CR mk view! Now we are adding two more days at the Poly!! Crazy resort hopping but I've never stayed at the Poly, so I am very excited. Haven't decided what longhouse to request, but will do some research and call CRO back.

One week and we will be checking into our first resort!!

I'm staying at the Poly for the first time too! We changed our reservation from Wilderness Lodge. Always wanted to stay at the Poly, since I was a kid (and there were only two hotels...won't say how long ago that was :rolleyes1 ) I debated whether we should request a specific longhouse, or just a balcony and leave it up to fate, or the tiki gods, or whatever. Anyone have any advice?

We're also spending our last night @ the Contemporary, so we're having an "original WDW resorts" trip, I guess!
