I am wondering how quickly the lagoon view concierge rooms fill up. I am planning on booking for a January 2008 trip that ends during the marathon weekend, but I would prefer to book when I can book the whole package. Do the LVC rooms book more quickly than the others, or should I be fine if I am booking for January 2008 in August.

Hi! Both of these questions have probably been addressed on here before so I'll apologize in advance if they have. I used to be on this thread all the time but found it to be too depressing to visit this thread if we weren't actually planning a trip. Reading all these posts always make me want to be back at the POLY. So, anyway, we are back to the idea of planning a possible trip and therein lie the questions...

First, I went to the Disney site for rates and I see that they offer Lagoon View-club level. Is this the same as what they used to just call the concierge service (the Hawaii building)??? :confused3

Second, I noticed that the special concierge services include:

"...lounge with Continental breakfast, midday snacks, afternoon tea, evening wine and cheese, and evening cordials and dessert. "

Have they done away with the evening appetizers and such (spring rolls, chicken, etc.)??? :confused3

Thanks in advance!

Yes to the question about LVC. Its now called club view. We are staying on our trip LVC (Hawaii).
You will still get the evening goodies and desserts and cordials.
Tikiman has a menu on his site as does Allears.
We cant wait!!!! :yay: :yay:

Thanks! I had gone to the AllEars site and they still have the menu listed that we're used to. However, it was last updated sometime in 2006 and I was afraid that maybe it had changed since then. I'm so glad to hear that it's still the same.

We cant wait!!!! :yay: :yay:

Even though we don't have any set plans for our next trip we can't wait either!! Our boys talk about it ALL the time. We're hoping maybe this fall!

Thanks again!

I have to say I just love the Polynesian. My first time staying there was in Nov. 2006 and I was upgraded to concierge :thumbsup2 . And now I just returned Monday and my last night was at the Polynesian and again I was upgraded to a Magic Kingdom View.

The Polynesian Rocks...........only problem now is my girls are spoiled and only want to stay there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

This thread is sooo exciting. I cannot wait to go to the Poly for the first time!

When the ME pick us up at the airport, what is the ETA for the POLY?

Do they stop anywhere before? I will be arriving at 7:10 pm. on a Friday.

Would I get a better room assignment if I arrived on a Saturday?

Thanks!!!!

When I had originally booked back in February there wasn't any availability in GVC. Last week I emailed my AAA TA to check if there were rooms for August 22-28. THERE WERE!!!
I imagine people changed their reservations to coincide with free dining.
I am really looking forward to this!

I was also wondering if you made any requests before hand? I wonder if you are more likely to be upgraded if you don't.
Lucky you!

Just got back and I loved the POLY too! I stayed in Samoa room 3612 . It was very nice being so close to the pools, motor launch and great ceremonial house. I'd definitely stay there again! I'm also glad I went ahead and booked "Spirit of Aloha and the Ohana's character breakfast". It was an excellent time :D

We were at the Poly this last April/May for the first time. We stayed for 11 nights in the Tahiti longhouse. It was great. Yesterday in the local paper there was an article about doing Disney cheap. DH read it and asked when I would let the kids miss school for another Disney trip. HELLO who are you? I told him it had to be at Teacher's convention week in Oct of 2008.

He wanted me to book it, hello we do not know if you are getting vacation then or not. So who is Disney obsessed? Kicker is he does not want to go cheap, he wants a Magic Kingdom view in the Hawaii longhouse. I guess I can live with that.

I am also wondering about this. I am trying to decide if I should make any requests or leave it up to the tiki gods of fate. We got a great room for our first time last Sept - First room, first floor of Tuvalu LV and it was without any requests. I don't feel I have enough first hand experience to know exactly where I want to stay for this Sept in GV except I am thinking of asking for 1st floor and maybe Samoa to be close to everything. Should I try my luck or hedge my bets? (of course we would always be hoping for an upgrade too!)

I've always had the worst luck checking in later in the day.
But a bad room in Disney is better than a good room at home...

Have a great trip!

I say leave it to the Tiki gods. There are so many great locations and that way you won't be disappointed if you don't get your request. Better to be excited than diappointed at the beginning of a vacation.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Sounds just like my DH! I Fought to go last year (for the first time) and we stayed GVC. When I sarted in on a second trip for this August I suggested that we a bit more moderate this time around and he balked at staying anywhere other than the Poly! How could I even suggest it! According to him - either we do it the right way or we don't do it at all!! :)

This seems a theme from all over. I was the gung-ho planner last year and we stayed at the Polynesian. We are going back this year in December and my DW will only stay at the Polynesian again. The ease of getting to MK and Epoct and of course the very awesome property made it easy for her.

She is a fireworks fan and my DD7 is not. In 6 days, we watched 5 wishes and 3 MVMCP wishes from the safety of the beach at the hotel and everyone was happy.

When people talk about the expense, how much would you pay extra for perks like Monorail and watching fireworks every night and using Bay Lake. And did I mention how it was great to roll out of bed and then walk to our Character Breakfast? When you think of those extras, it makes the Poly even more attractive.

I am laughing at these posts because I am in a similar yet different situation! We stayed at All Star Sports in February and my husband told me not to ask to go back to Disney again for 2 years! Then, a little over a month ago HE said to me, "I want to go to Disney World!" Not only did he want to go, but he wanted to go Deluxe! Wait a minute, I am the Disney freak, not him! So, back to WDW we go in October and we are staying at the Poly! I am so happy and the great thing about it is that it was my husband's idea! I think maybe the Disney magic is getting a hold on him too...

Some of you may remember a while back I was booked at Poly and was SO very excited. This has been the resort that I've always wanted to stay at. Well we had several expenses come up and had to cancel ended up booking AKL w/ free dining. DH told me to go ahead and upgrade if I would like. :cheer2: But the first couple of nights we will be at MK until midnight due to EMHs and Pirate and Princess Party the following night. So I've come up w/ the perfect solution. We will stay the beginning 3 days at ASMu w/ free dining and then finish off w/ Poly and free dining the last 3 nights. I'm hoping to call CRO first thing in the morning and finalize this.

If there's availability I will be the happiest person on Earth. Both packages will be cheaper than our current package at AKL! I'm really hoping for Poly!:cloud9:

Question for all of the Poly experts....does anyone know when the construction at the resort will be finished? I saw on some pictures on Tikimans site that showed the monorail station under construction but was just curious if it was going to be like that when we stay there at the end of August. Thanks in advance!:)

We were able to book the last portion of our trip at Poly!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

When we originally booked Poly we had put in a request for a specific longhouse however now I've decided to only request a balcony and we'll get what we get! DH and I will be celebrating our anniversary and I'm really looking forward to our stay!
