Hi Everyone! So excited. We changed changed and will now be staying at the Poly from July 1-6. My question is this, is Samoa a smoking or nonsmoking building? I know things will be all nonsmoking in June but I want to make sure I have a nonsmoking room due to my dd7 with asthma. One of my books for planning syas it's smoking but I've read it's not.
Thanks!

Samoa has been non smoking since the rooms were redone back in January 2003.

Thank you so much!
Also thanks for your website! I'm learning a lot.
I'm wondering if I should make a request or not. We're staying garden view. From what I'm reading any place we get sounds nice. Just thinking Samoa migh be great with the kids. I know they will love the volcano pool. Tokelau sounds nice too.

I myself never make a request for a building but if there is something you want to shoot for than the best time to get the request in is at booking and have it noted on the reservation. If you try to have the request added later I find that many times it is not noted correctly and the room assigner never gets it.

I am sure once all the rooms go smoke free they will replace the things inside and do a de-smoking operation to the room. I have been in a room that was de-smoked and I was very surprised how clean it was an there was no smoke oder.

Tokelau is a great location also. There are more good locations than bad at the Polynesian.

You will find with many of the guide books they do not update all the information every year so as you can see with the Samoa info it is 4 years old. The only guide book I have seen that updates their info constantly is the Unofficial guide book.

Glad you enjoy my site.

Aloha

Steve

You will be in the Hawaii longhouse. That is the concierge building. Have a great time!

:rotfl: I totally agree. I really can't think of anything better then having breakfast in bed in your lagoon view Hawaii longhouse room. :wizard:

We surprised my DH last November with our whole family for a "Celebration of Life" I had planned the trip prior to knowing our children and grandchildren were going to be able to join us. I had reserved a Lagoon Hawaii Concierge room, I had requested the third floor and non-smoking. A good three months into planning our trip I found out our children were able to get off work and come join us. We made arragement for our children arrived the next day, I had booked them standard rooms, garden view because concierge was full "I was told" and I couldn't afford lagoon for everyone.

We were given a Dream. Our room was the Tikiman room, fantastic view and gifts waiting in it that I had purchased for my DH. Our children had been upgraded to concierge across the hall from us. :wizard: They felt they had been given the "Dream" and I felt that I had. We had a fantastic week together and my DH was so surprised. The staff at the Polynesian were so kind, and friendly helping in any way they could. The resort is beautiful with grounds that made us all feel we were in Hawaii.

I know you and your family will have a wonderful vacation. The weather was perfect for our two weeks. Have a wonderful trip.

What a sweet story!! And how nice the Poly did that. We are so looking forward to our trip!

That Tikiman is a good egg. :thumbsup2

Question for anyone who can answer....
If we have an 8:00 ressie in the MK, when should we leave the Poly??? No need to be early, just on time. TIA!

I would head out to the ferry dock at the marina around 7:20 to make sure you can get a 7:30 ferry (or something close to it). I think it runs that early. Does anyone know for sure?

I know I'm a n00bie here... but I just want to personally thank you for your efforts and your website is what convinced me to stay at the Poly... And I'm very excited!

Kudos and GL!

Hi everyone! I'll be staying at the Poly Magic Kingdom/ Lagoon View Concierge June 3 - 6 2007... coming up soon! Also will be staying May 27 - June 3 BCV. It's my 29th Birthday Celebration trip! Living up my last birthday in my 20's..... not so sure I will want to celebrate the one after that. :rotfl: Well I am a DVC member and am using points to stay so will only have the dinning plan for the first day of my stay at Poly.Since the dinning plan was booked for BCV portion only and that is the last day they are good until - checkout day for the BCV. Well I wanted to try out the Tonga toast I have heard everyone raving about so was wondering if they have it in the CL? If not I will book the breakfast at Ohana's for that day. Thanks in advance for all your input! :goodvibes

Nope, not in the lounge. Have a great time! It's at Kona not Ohana!

We just returned from a 8 day stay at the Polynesian. It was our first time there after staying at POR for our last trip. We absolutely loved it. I don't think we'll ever be able stay in less than a deluxe resort after this trip. The monorail convenience was just what I expected and being able to walk to the TTC to go to Epcot saved lots of time as well. Even the bus rides seemed to be less crowded as they only ever picked up the Poly and GF and the buses seemed to come very regularly.

Oh the other thing we did to avoid the crowds at Capt. Cooks was to go later in the evening after we returned for the day and buy breakfast stuff for the next morning to take back to our room. We got the little cereals, fruit, milk, and pastries and then we had them right there in our room. Or else I would try the room service if I wanted a hot breakfast.
We have come to the same conclusion after our trip last December. We are trying to plan a trip to the world again this december and we are having a hard time going off property or to any of the non-monorail resorts. We'll see.

As for Capt. Cooks, if the weather was nice it was great to be able to sit outside and eat behind the restaurant.

My dh and I just decided that we are going to the world for Valentine's day this year (yes we plan way in advance). At first we said that we might stay at CR, cause my kids would love the monorail running through, but I really like the feel of the Poly and wanted to try there. I made a good and bad choice by purchasing the book Unoffical Guide to DW and the reviews in there were terrible! I really want to stay there, but I want some trusty Dis opinions. Has the service really gotten bad or is it the case of selective examples? BTW we are talking about staying concierge (that took a lot of persuasion on my part:lmao: ) so if anyone has advice I would be ever so greatful.

**In case you are wondering, I do have OCD, I freak out easily when it comes to my Disney vacation, and yes I need help. Anyone want to start a support group?**

Hi! Both of these questions have probably been addressed on here before so I'll apologize in advance if they have. I used to be on this thread all the time but found it to be too depressing to visit this thread if we weren't actually planning a trip. Reading all these posts always make me want to be back at the POLY. So, anyway, we are back to the idea of planning a possible trip and therein lie the questions...

First, I went to the Disney site for rates and I see that they offer Lagoon View-club level. Is this the same as what they used to just call the concierge service (the Hawaii building)??? :confused3

Second, I noticed that the special concierge services include:

"...lounge with Continental breakfast, midday snacks, afternoon tea, evening wine and cheese, and evening cordials and dessert. "

Have they done away with the evening appetizers and such (spring rolls, chicken, etc.)??? :confused3

Thanks in advance!
