We did! Just booked for August of next year! I cannot wait!

This next trip I am determined to spend more time just relaxing at the hotel! I seem to always regret that after a trip - we run around too much!

We're just back from a week at the Poly, 9/30-10/7. Our second trip in two years to the Poly. The weather was AWESOME. Upper 80's to 90 everyday, no rain! Not even a brief shower. The 3rd was a bit overcast after 2pm but still warm. We stayed in Rapa Nui, refurbed room, it was great! Room 3119. My wife loved it! Check in staff told me that they were having a real hard time with rooms the week that Tokelau had electrical problems. I made sure we had garden view and not parking lot view and it was a great. The noise from the Tahiti refurb was a bit loud with the balcony door open but otherwise you wouldn't notice it. The air hammer they're using to remove the tile from the balconies was most notable as well as the electric saws they're using to rebuild the outside stairs. But certainly not a deal breaker, we were gone by 10am for the whole day anyways so no biggie.

I have a few nit picks but no deal breakers and these did not ruin, damper, or interfere with a wonderful vacation for us at all.

The room AC is uncontrollable as far as I can tell. It either on with the fan at low, med, or high, or its off. The thermostat doesn't work as far as I can tell. We just turned it off once we woke up, and then back on low when we left so housekeeping didn't do their work in a sauna.

For us techies, there aren't nearly enough outlets. With two cell phones, camera charger, DV cam charger, laptop, wireless router, gameboy, and portable DVD player, you run out of outlets fast. I brought my own power strip. That helped but next time I'm bringing two.

The volcano pool is COLD! It wasn't that way last year. Last year we were all in the pool until 11pm. This year we didn't last more than 30 mins in, during the day. Saturday was 90 and no wind and it was FREEZING!

This one isn't a knock on the Poly, but Magical Express was a bit slow this year. Last year we had our bags within two hours. This year it was almost 5 hours. The wait for the bus was just under 20 minutes and tolerable. But getting the bags 20 mins before dinner was a bit nerve racking. We brought stuff in our carry on bags; underwear; socks, toothbrush, bathing suits, etc, but not clothes for dinner. Since we were checking in by 2pm we didn't think we'd need to bring dinner clothes.

In the end, it all worked out and again, it was a great vacation.

Thanks for the info! I never thought of taking a power strip but I will make sure we have 2 with us this time. :thumbsup2

With the opening of Tokelau, are all the buildings rehabed now besides Tahiti? I am trying to narrow my requests and wanted a new room with a balcony. I would love Tokelau but most importantly wanted a refurbed room with a balcony.

Thanks

Jimbo,

Great update. That tip about a power strip is priceless. We've got about the same amount of plug in items, but I never really thought about it before. Add the battery charger to that list.

Thanks again

MickeyMaz - definately most fun was watching Wishes from the beach. The drinks are good but I did not have one while I watched Wishes ... it was a little chilly in Feb -- hot chocolate would have been better on the beach at that time but it was beautiful. :teeth:

KONA turned out to be our favorite restaurant! Hope you have a great time.

We've never stayed at the Poly and would like to try it when we are there in Dec of 07. It will be value season while we are there and we are willing to pay the extra $$ for a Magic Kingdom View but would like to have a balcony to watch the fireworks from (we'll have a 1yo with us). What buildings are the Magic Kingdom view rooms in and what should I request? TIA, I know you guys will have the answer!

47 out of 75 MK view rooms have balconies. Most (32) are located in Tahiti and all the Tuvalu MK rooms with balconies (10) are smoking optional rooms. Aotearoa is the other building that has MK view rooms.

I would suggest Tahiti

We arrive at the Poly on the 21st (so excited, first time staying here). I have requested Samoa or Tokelau, however, is there any rooms that I absolutely WOULD NOT want? If I don't get into one of those buildings and they put me somewhere else, should I be concerned about a certain building facing a certain direction? Any area with a less than desirable view? We are going to be arriving in the morning and hitting the parks immediately (I am assuming the room will not be ready, so I will not be able to take a peak in the room first). I just don't want to arrive back later and not like the room location, and then not have any other choices. If I know of the undesirable possibilities ahead of time, I could ask for another location right away. Thanks for the help!

Anyone have any info on the Surrey Bikes(?) at the POLY? How many people can go on them? Where do you rent them? Any picts.????? TIA !

Don't worry! I don't think you can go wrong! You will LOVE the Poly! Have a great trip!

I would say that the “bad views” at the Polynesian are the direct views of the parking lot on the east side of Rapa Nui, the garden view rooms that face Fiji in Tuvalu and the handful of rooms that are next to the utility areas of some of the longhouses. Otherwise the views are great and of many different things.

I would not suggest putting any of this info in a request but just be aware of them.

OK:

If I order from Garden Grocer it will be because we want beer from them. SO: does getting beer mean we have to physically meet them to accept the delivery because of needing to be carded? I tried to ask this question of them from their website, but he really didn't anwer it.

And, if ordering Staples water to the Poly, what address and phone number do i use for delivery? Tikiman? I bet you know! :cool1:

Well the address is

Disney's Polynesian Resort
1600 Seven Seas Drive
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

but if they need a phone number to the resort and you are not staying concierge I don't know of one that actually goes to the resort. The number you see listed for the Polynesian Resort goes to a central call center not located at the resort. Maybe give them your cell phone number.

Hey what's with the report of the Volcano Pool being an icebox?
Anybody confirm or deny and supply a reason why? Thanks!
