Hi Everyone! I need some help with picking a room! :teeth: we'll be there in just over a week and I was told to call if I wanted to try and select a specific room the week before we are to be there. We are Poly Lagoon View Concierge and I was wondering what the very best view is? I would love to see the Castle but I don't know if that is part of Lagoon view or not? What do YOU think? :confused3 Thanks ahead of time for any info! :thumbsup2 Helen
Every room has a view of the castle! I don't think you can go wrong! Enjoy your stay! Poly lagoon view is AWESOME!

We just booked our stay in LVC 12/3 - 12/10.

I am so excited since it has been a few years since we've stayed in Concierge. I have been trying to find something in concierge for this time frame but everything has been booked. I checked online yesterday and LVC popped up. The only downside is I had to pay rack rate. Oh well it's only money right!!!

I have a question for anyone who has recently been emailing concierge. How long is it taking to receive answers to emails sent to the planning office? I know when I stayed at GF-RPC this summer it took 4-5 days. :confused3

I've had pretty good responses on the e-mail - usually within a day. This is definitely faster than it was for me when we went 2 years ago. I also have been lucky to get them to answer the phone sometimes when I call (as opposed to getting an answering machine). You might have better luck getting them on the phone on the weekend than during the week. That worked for me last weekend. Good luck!! :)

Leslie:

Thanks for the info. I sent them an email yesterday and they already responded today and also responded to another email I sent them today. There service seems to be much better. :thumbsup2

We booked through AAA. Will I be getting something in the mail from them or from Concierge Services from the Poly?? :confused3

Because you used a TA they usually don't contact you. I contact the via email.

Edited to add: AND we decided to really live it up and used valet parking. They were WONDERFUL and we were only charged $7.00 for 6 days![/QUOTE]

QUESTION:If you use valet parking when you arrive, and don't move your car for the entire trip, are you still only charged $7.00 for the length of your stay? :confused3

DH develops an inability to park the car himself at WDW so we use valet wherever we stay and we've always been charged per day whether we use the car or not.

We just got back from the polynesian. We had a room in Tokelau, they opened some of them and we got one, room 3938, we loved it. It was close to everything, especially Captain Cook's. But they did have to move us. They were having eletrical problems in the building and said they needed to shut the power off. So we had to pack up everything and move the last two nights we were there.
It wasn't to bad cause they moved us to the Hawaii building with a Magic Kingdom View. It was nice but I hated having to pack everything, then unpack and then pack two days later.
Overall it was great, we love this resort, we stayed here a couple of years ago and we liked it, but now we love it. My husband said we are not staying any where else.
We did have towel animals in both are rooms we left them for other guest to enjoy.

It was nice! I still like Fiji, 3rd floor marina view better. We had a better view of the lagoon from there. I liked looking at the Contemporary and space mountain better than just seeing the GF.

Can anyone tell me if the Fiji, 3rd Floor, Marina View is for a Garden View room or something else? Just trying to figure out what the best request for a room would be if we are paying for a Garden View.

Thanks in advance! :wave2:

Yes, figi marina view, is definately garden view. But I have had a few cm's when I requested it question me. And say that should be a water view. I politely just ask them to note it as requested and that it really is gv. They have even went and checked with someone else and said wow, your right. ;) 3rd floor figi marina view is one of our fav. views at wdw too.

Coubogle, did you notice if they started putting people back in tokelau after the move? Was the entire building open when you where in it? What was your view from tokelau. How crowded was the Poly when you where there?

Thanks, mky :wizard:

When I checked in last Wednesday I asked if they were busy and she said that all the rooms were full because they had two buildings closed but they had just opened up a few rooms in Tokelau and that we had got one.
I think there was only a few of us in the Tokelau building, I know we had neighbors cause we could here them. We had garden view it was nice.
I did notice on Tuesday when we walked by that they were working on the building because there was alot of workers standing on the back side of the building.
One of the cast members told us that they didn't figure in all the refriderators and when they started plugging them all in that it was tripping the breakers and shuting the power off. We never noticed the power off. One day they left us a letter saying they were shutting it off for an hour and then the next day they said we had to move cause they were shuting it off for a long time to fix the problem.

In my job, from time to time, I have to spend *lots* of time on the phone with our lawyers (I work in HR.)

So, chatting the other day with my lawyer I mentioned our upcoming trip to the Poly. She tells me that they have been almost every year since 1990. They skipped a couple years because the kids got older and wanted to take trips that were "cooler"-- all inclusives to Mexico, etc. Nothing could EVER compare to the Poly. They always go back. Her kids are in college now and they STILL choose that every year. This is a family who has the means to go anywhere, and they do take two trips/ year, but the kids always want one of the trips to be the Poly!

Then, three other lawers from her firm emailed me because they have recently been to the Poly and are thrilled to answer any questions I might have... but... you guys already have answered most of my questions.

I just think its mightly cool that these folks love the Poly that much. I am excited to experience it for myself! :goodvibes

We will be at the poly on the 28th!!!!

Can anyone tell me if Samoa has been renovated. A good "poly" friend always stays in this one and thought it would be good fit for our family. TIA!

From Tikiman's website:

Schedule of rehab (updated on a regular basis)

A tentative list looks like this:
Rapa Nui Completed
Aotearoa Completed
Fiji Completed
Tuvalu Completed
Hawaii Completed with new rooms and lounge
Samoa Completed
Niue Completed
Rarotonga Completed
Tokelau (Closed July 3rd and a few rooms will open the end of September with the remaining in October 2006)
Tahiti (August 21, 2006 opening November 11th or 12th 2006)

I read somewhere, may have been Tikiman's website, that they were also redoing the furniture in the lobby.

Did I dream that?
