We are off on our first visit to the Poly in 19 days, 4 hours and 29 minutes. :woohoo: If you've noted the time, and have a way with math, you'll see that we arrive after midnight. Can anyone tell me what we can look forward to when you check in? I'm assuming the lei giving greeters will all be in bed, but what are our chances for help getting to our room? We are not styaying conceirge; with the dining plan it was overkill for us on our last trip, but now with the late arrival I'm wondering if we'd have better service had we gone that route. Suddenly the food isn't the only perk... Any other late arrivers out there? What can we expect? Thanks in advance!

They can do that? Just move you and tell you in advance? I don't think i'd handle that very well.

Actually, I think they did try to tell us. We had a message on our answering machine to contact the Polynesian. Unfortunately, we were at the Beach Club Villas for the 5 nights preceding our anticpated Polynesian stay and didn't get the message until we arrived home (one night early).

The "situation" was that an entire longhouse was down due to electrical problems.

We were told that we were being moved because our 3 night stay fit well with the 4 nights (or was it days?) they expected the longhouse to be down.

Despite our disappointment, I can understand this. Some families needed to be moved. By matching those moved with the length of "down" time, the fewest families were disappointed.

I don't think we've ever arrived that late but I can assure you that club level wouldn't make a diffrenece re leis and checkin because they are off duty after 10pm.

I think you will still get your leis. The front desk can hand them out and in fact always did years ago. If the CM helping you forgets, just ask. :thumbsup2

Have a great trip! :sunny:

Hi,

Just wanted to confirm when you say "this weekend" do you mean the current weekend (9/23/24) or this coming weekend (9/30,10/1). I've got LVC reservations for this coming weekend (9/30) and I wanted to know whether I should be worried.

Thanks!

I was just wondering why they moved you to the GF????

Ok, I am not responding to this questions, I just want to tell you Steffali that I love the picture in your post. Keep posting so we can enjoy the photo :rotfl2:

Why are there no balconies on the 2nd floors????? :confused3

Its my understanding that there are no balconies on the 2nd floor because of a little known supertition about an evil troll, gremlin, etc. that can only get into the house by entering on the 2nd floor balcony. Because of this, the homes were built without a second floor balcony. Maybe someone else can provide more light on this subject. :goodvibes

Right...it was this past weekend now. :sad2: We would have been there the 22nd to 25th.

I hope you have a perfectly wonderful stay. Have a Mai Tai for me. :sunny:

That is what the CM that checked us in told us when we checked in last week. She also said that the newer buildings that have second floor balconies were blessed. She said you can find sculptures ect. of the (I can't remember what she called them something like nini hoo hoos) in boutiki.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm more worried about wandering around with two sleepy kids and all of our luggage. Oh wait - magic express! We'll just have sleepy kids, carry ons, and now leis! As long as there is someone at the desk waiting to help, we'll be fine. :)

Well, as long as the evil troll/gremlin doesn't look to disguise himself as a snake, frog, or lizard I will be fine with the 2nd. floor :rotfl:

I am very interested in staying at the Polynesian on our next trip, and I have looked at Tikiman's website many times. My question is, do all the rooms without balconies or patios have sliding glass doors with railings. I would prefer not to be on the first floor, but would really like a balcony. However, if the other rooms have sliding glass doors that open to the outdoors, that would work, too. Any responses would help? Thanks in advance.

We stayed at the Poly from 9/18-9/24. I requested Fiji, 3rd floor, marina view. Upon check in she told me that Fiji 3rd floor was closed. She said something about changing froms from smoking to non. I don't think she knew what she was talking about. I figured they were getting the headboards and lights. We were checking in early, around 11 and there wasn't 1 1st or 3rd floor room available. I even had her check lagoon view. We were willing to pay for that upgrade. We didn't want to get stuck without a balcony. So, I asked her about taking an available room now and changing to a 3rd floor room the next day. She set it up. We had a 2nd floor room, ready right then, and then the next day we moved to our new room. Samoa, 3rd floor, volcano pool. Room 3610. We could lean out over the balcony and see the castle! :thumbsup2 It was nice! I still like Fiji, 3rd floor marina view better. We had a better view of the lagoon from there. I liked looking at the Contemporary and space mountain better than just seeing the GF. Awesome resort! As usual. The burgers from Captain Cooks are HUGE! The pool was nice and cool, much cooler than any other resort pool we've ever been in. We enjoyed our time there so much we missed ADRs and stayed out of the parks a lot of the time!

Edited to add: AND we decided to really live it up and used valet parking. They were WONDERFUL and we were only charged $7.00 for 6 days!

One thing to note about arriving late DME told me if my flight arrives after 11pm you have to pick up your luggage yourself and bring it to the DME bus. They would still bring it to your room but you would be responsible for getting to the DME bus. Something worth checking into. DME phone # 866-599-0951

I'd request a balcony on your reservation. If there's a particular building you like, I'd request that as well.

DH and I like the ground floor, so we requested ground floor Tokelau for our next trip. They can't promise you'll get it, but it doesn't hurt to try. :thumbsup2

You had our room! We left on September 10th :sad2: . I liked the view alot of the pool and lagoon. You think Fiji marina side is a better view than that? I couldn't see the castle with the trees there but I did enjoy EWP from the balcony. Walking up 3 flts. of stairs from :) the pool was a work out especially after the parks all day. Glad you had a good trip.
