Can anyone tell me anything good about the Hawaii Building? The recent reviews I have read are not very good. :guilty: They rooms aren't great and the lobby is smokey. I thought this was the concierge building? Anyone stayed there recently?? We are scheduled to stay there in July.

Hawaii is the concierge building and it is GREAT!!!! :thumbsup2 I haven't seen the review you are referring to but we've stayed there a number of times now and the lounge has never been smokey. I'm not sure what was meant by lobby...maybe the first floor area where the concierge desks are? At any rate, again never smokey in the least. There are CMs in both areas from early am until 10pm and I can't imagine them not speaking up if a guest were smoking there. The only smoking optional rooms are on the 3rd floor at the opposite end.

The rooms are great IMO. Have you seen the pictures of the new decor. We were in a room in Hawaii just as it reopened in October. I think the rooms are beautiful.

BTW, those thinking of requesting Samoa should know it is a relatively small building and frequently requested so don't be disappointed if you don't get it. There is Polynesian magic in every building. :sunny:

Those of you going soon, have a wonderful time! :thumbsup2

My DH and myself really love the Poly. This will be our first concierge stay there this November. I have requested a third floor room and we are reserved for a lagoon view. My question is: Are there any connecting rooms on the third floor lagoon side?

We are staying at the Poly for the first time --Nov 30 to Dec 11, me DH DD6, DS4. Can you recommend a bldg? We plan have a rental car. We'll visit MK 5 times, Epcot 3 times, AK 2 times, MGM 3 times, DTD 1 times and Sea World.
Thanks

Thank you so much for posting a positive review of the Hawaii building!

We just went for the first time and stayed in Fiji. I requested Fiji, 3rd floor and got it. We were on the marina side and had an awesome view. CR, Space Mountain, and at night we could see the water parade. IT was wonderful! Now I'm struggling all over again with where to stay...request the same thing...or try something new. I'm thinking Samoa, 3rd floor, volcano pool side...but I just don't know! :teeth:

I have a question for him.

Tikiman - Your website says that Tokela will be done with it's refurb on Sept. 23 or there abouts. We are going Sept. 18-24. Any chance it'll be done before then? Or will 2 floors be open and 1 closed? I would love to request that building seeing as how the rooms are bigger and we have 4 kids. :teeth: Thanks.

Transportation Question

About how long is it to MGM & AK using Disney transportation? Thanks

The building I believe is spelled Tokelau. :-) Have you called the reservations center to ask them when the rehab is scheduled to be finished? I think that they would have more of an "official" answer than Tikiman. :cool1:

From my experience it takes about 10 minutes once you are on the bus.

Why is it spelled Tokela on the map I just got last week? :confused3

No I haven't called, I have the worst luch with calling CRO and talking to someone friendly who actually knows what they are doing.

Actually my information comes from the Polynesian (officially). The call center is not actually speaking to someone at the Polynesian resort and many times they don’t have any idea about the rehab even happening.

To answer MommyPoppins, they have this as a tentative schedule and they would not know if it will even start on time or finish on time. Sometimes they have been very good about sticking to the schedule and other times they are off. Tahiti was originally scheduled to be done last Summer and it was delayed. I don’t see a delay like that happening but anything can happen. The dates I posted are just what they have down right now for their timeline.

It is actually Tokelau and it might be that you did not see the "U" because it runs into a darker part of the map.

Nope, no U. Must have a defective map. :rotfl:

And what is going to happen with 2 of the largest long houses being down at once? Will they book the resort full and people will check in only to be told they have to move or will they only book the rooms that are open?

You better save that map. It is a rare find!!

Their statement to me when they announced the dates for Tahiti and Tokelau being closed at the same time was that they were predicting about 50% occupancy in the summer even with the two buildings closed. I find it hard to believe but I was told this by a few different sources at the resort and they would know. When the building are scheduled to close they are taken off the available rooms in the system (even now) so they would not be booked.

I just have to gush for a moment about the Poly CL staff. We arent due to arrive til august13th and they have been amazing. All of them have been great but lynne and brandon have been exceptional. I feel lucky and fortunate to have had such great help.

My Husband and I decided to get away last weekend with our 5 month old, we dedcided to stay at the POLY for the first time (nice thing about living 2 hours away) :cheer2: We loved it! I would recommend to anyone to request the Samoa longhouse because it is so centrally located to everything. Also the rooms have been refurbished. Our room was on the 2nd floor which has no balconies but it was nice anyway. Very clean and new! Two queen beds AND VERY COMFORTABLE! We had dinner at OHana's, which was excellent. We were able to watch the fireworks from our table at MK! We had breakfast @ Kona Cafe which was also great! (try the Tonga Toast). Pools were nice especially the quiet pool-very relaxing. I just wish it wasn't so expensive but we just upgraded to annual passes so hopefully that wll get us good discounts! :Pinkbounc
