I am so tempted to upgrade to concierge level for our stay in October, but I'm just not sure it is worth it for us. I have all of our ADR's done, and I've read that it is not really "wise" to invest in concierge just for the food/drinks...which would be one of my main reasons for upgrading. We're going at a slower time of year, so the special check-in, while nice, isn't a necessity. Can anyone confirm my decisions??? If not, I guess we'll be upgrading! LOL! Thanks!

We think it is worth it for the fun and convenience of the food and drinks, the view from the lounge and sort of resort within a resort feel of Hawaii. We don't come close to making it "worth it" monetarily but it is a fun splurge from time to time. I make most of our dining reservations as well but like eeyoresmountainpal, I will ask for help if we need to change something while we are there.

Have fun! :cool1:

Just beware of the upgrade, after our 03 Poly Concierge trip my family is a little disturbed when they here we will not be staying concierge. My sisters say my DD's are WDW concierge BRAINWASHED. :3dglasses

Excellent point!

I wouldn't mind trying a room that is not concierge level but DH and our boys won't hear of it. If we can't stay POLY concierge, they'd rather not go. As a matter of fact, this year as we can't afford that type of room so they have all decided they'd rather put off the trip for another year or so until we can stay concierge level again! You do get spoiled! :teeth:

I know what you mean. After our 03 trip they all said lets what until we can afford this again. I really didn't want to wait that long. So, in 05 we went twice, once to POR and once at CR. They refuse to stay at POR again. I figure I will compromise and only book monorail hotels. I just can't justify concierge. I mean our trip this year is costing us $6800, adding another $1000 just seems ridiculous to me.

Hi!! We're leaving in the morning!! OMG, we're so excited!! First time for the our boys to be at WDW....and we're staying at the Poly!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Do Poly guest get a newspaper each morning at their door?

TiA!! :wave2:

How long will you be there for? We check into the Poly this Wednesday. We will be there til July 1st. I can't waiit!! The Poly does give a paper on weekdays. The USA Today.

Thanks, BCV23!! ....and Lynne, too!!

Lynne, we will be there till June 27th. Maybe we'll see you around the volcano pool, huh?! I have 3 boys...they are well-behaved (if I do say so myself) so don't worry, you don't have to run and hide. LOL!! :rotfl:

I just got done packing all of my clothes and the boys' clothes. Dh has to take care of his, then we're giving the boys haircuts, church, pack the truck, sleep, wake up, DRIVE!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

You're welcome, MaryBeth. Have a wonderful time. :sunny:

Lynne, the reason I qualified my newspaper answer is that you never know when there will be a change. :confused3 We were at AKL last month and the last stay at the Polynesian was in January and it was still the USA Today then, but as I said the paper situation has changed over the years. I hope you have a great vacation too. :thumbsup2

We love our stays at BCV as well but I do miss that paper at the door. :sad2:

We are always at the pool! Look for an older lady (my mom), myself (44 y/o) and my 7 y/o DD. If you hear someone yelling Emma! that would be me calling DD! I just cleaned the house. Now I have to finish packing, get my truck detailed tomorrow and get through Father's Day! See you there~!

The last four trips we have done concierge. This trip I decided to just book a GV room (I really want a MK view but with Tahiti down I don't think it's worth it). I keep going back and forth about what will we miss in concierge, to no the kids are older now convenience isn't so important. I thought since we are doing dining we won't really be there that much, but I just don't know? I really LOVE the view from the Hawaii longhouse.
My indecision hits every time I plan a WDW trip :teeth:

So many of you are heading off to the Poly. Congratulations to you all! I hope you have a fantastic time. Wishing you lots of pixiedust: :tinker:

Be sure to come on back and tell us all about your trip and the Poly. We will be there right after Thanksgiving. Our first trip to WDW for the holidays.

This is my thinking too!!! As much as I'd love for us to stay concierge, I cannot bring myself to pay up another $2500 for it ......... that is too much of my spending money for me, but hey Polynesian Garden View is luxury anyway :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Sorry if this has been posted, but we are staying at the Poly in July and I was wondering if anyone had any websites with directions from Sanford to the Poly?

It really is a tough decision to make! we haven't stayed at the Poly before and it's been a few years since we were at DW so we decided to take the chance on Concierge. Yes, we are paying a bit extra $$ wise but we are hoping it's worth it! We did Concierge at the Yacht club a few years ago and it worked out just fine for us...especially the never ending drinks for the kids. :cool1:
I had a hard time not going for the Magic Kingdom view but since we are going back in March and staying at the Contemporary with that view...it's ok.
Hope to see a lot of you at the Poly in October but for those who get to go earlier....Have FUN!

I agree that a garden view at the Polynesian is fantastic. We are not a family that has to do concierge every time. It is a fun splurge but you can do so much with what is saved by doing a gardenview room and you're still in paradise.

Did you try Mapquest?

 Hi all. I just finished with catching up with all 44 pages of this thread!!! :dance3: Great info!

I have a GV booked for first week of Oct and am also considering upgrading to conceirge. However, if I did it would only be to GVC. I have heard alot of y'all talking about how great LVC is and the fantastic views. What about GVC?

I was thinking one of the pluses for us is that my teenage daughter is bringing a friend and it might be a good place for them to hang out while the baby is napping, etc. Kind of an extension of the room. . . What do y'all think?

I am also thinking of requesting a first floor, so we would have the patio. We will have a toddler so it will be nice to be able to let him play a bit on the patio. Any thoughts.

Thanks!

Thank you for the timely reassurance that we made the correct choice! We just decided to do Poly in Oct. and after spoiling ourselves with concierge last trip, I was afraid we'd miss it. As my DS10 told me me, I got sick of the same breakfast everyday anyway, mum! But still, I loved our BW Conceirge room. You've helped me realize that now we'll have more spending money and not have to worry about buying that extra stuffed toy for DD! I'm ready for the Poly luxury! Have wonderful trips everyone!

We just returned from GVC and loved it. We had a 3rd floor room with a view of the quiet pool.
