OK coffee lovers - who can tell me if the coffee pots in the rooms use flat or cone filters? TIA!

The pots are your standard 4 cup "Mr. Coffee" basket type. As long as you have the small filters, you should be good. I think the coffee provided in room is actually one of the "packets" that has coffee and filter all in one, but if you have a small filter, you should be fine.

I am sure this has been asked but here I go anyhow, are the adjoining rooms availablr? I don't absoluty have to have them but I wanted to know if I could ask for them. Thanks!

Do you mean connecting rooms (a door that can be opened between 2 rooms) or adjoining rooms (2 rooms next to each other)?
I'm guessing you mean connecting, and there definitely are some, because we stayed in 1 half of a set in Tokelau.

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I can bring my own coffee and I'm sure the kids can have enough fun in the sand and pool. One more question I thought of-can you take your children into the lounges. I'd love to have drinks before dinner, but with 2 little ones they would have to be with us. It wouldn't be late at night or anything. If they aren't allowed, can you get drinks to go? Thanks again.

If you are talking about the Tambu Lounge next to Ohana's, yes, we sat there with DD4 several times on our recent trip and felt perfectly comfortable enjoying our drinks (and checking the ticker on ESPN!) The menu has some fun non-alcoholic drinks, and when DD chose water (!) the server brought her drink in a covered cup without our asking-- they seemed accustomed to there being kids there. We saw several other families there with children, although our daughter was the youngest. We sat in the tables near to the TV, next to the bar-- no issue. But there are tables to the side removed more from the bar if you don't want to be near the bar. The later it gets the more it feels like a lounge.

And yes, you can get drinks to go, as well.:)

Is the Poly better for kids than GF? My dd's will be 11yrs and nearly 22months. This is a treat for my dh's 30th b/day and we want it to be special.

2nd question My toddler has an allergy to dairy produce (dreadful eczema so much for breastfeeding til 13months!!) will this be a problem or do the stores etc. provide soya milk etc?

Thanks for any replies.

2 scottish princesses: I can't comment on GF, but we have stayed at Poly twice in the last two years and loved it. My DD was 2 and 3 respectively at the time. The theming is great and you can't beat the monorail with a stroller. She also really enjoyed the pool.
About the soy - my DD also drinks soy. We used to make a grocery stop on our way from the airport and bought it that way. At the time, they were not selling it - that may have changed recently. There are also grocery delivery services that you might be able take advantage of. Have a wonderful trip!:wave2:

Interesting question b/c just last night I worked on organizing our pictures from our November trip into a slideshow and my niece (8) helped me. She was at WDW the same time as we were but they stayed at GF while we stayed at Polynesian. After looking at our pictures, and taking into account her trip to the Polynesian to attend the Luau, she really wants to try the Polynesian now. She LOVED the GF, but she thought that the Polynesian looked "more different and exciting." She also loved the way that we had a ground floor room and so my DD4 and her dad could walk right out and hang on the beach at Luau cove. They had a lovely room with a lovely view at GF, but not close to the beach at all-- and she's a beach girl.

Now, SIL liked the rooms at GF MUCh better than ours at the Polynesian. During the trip she had to run over to our room to borrow something from me and so she was able to see both rooms "in action" midweek-- everything unpacked, etc. While she liked the ground floor layout, she thought the GF rooms were much more spacious and better organized. She also liked the atmosphere there a lot-- but she is a princess, too, like me-- she likes the best of everything feeling!

They LOVED the convenience of the GF Cafe-- they ate there a LOT without ADRs- no such TS option at Polynesian

Thank you both so much for your help I think we'll take advantage of the grocery stop option. DD Becci is v interested in pool at Poly so decision made. Just need to decide on May or June now....Enjoy your trips I know we will

The Nanea Volcano pool closes for the installation of safety equipment from January 13 – February 28.

This was posted on another site. Does anybody know if this is true. We are going to be at the Poly from Feb 10th - 18th and are really disappointed to hear the pool is going to be closed. Does anyone know the direct number to the Poly so I can get more info on what are options are. I was also thinking we could walk down to the GF pool. Does anyone know how long it would take to walk there?

This is a major bummer, this is the first time we are staying at the poly. We have always stayed at the Contemporary but I wanted to stay away this year until more contructions is completed. I may try to get a tower rooom at the Contemporary now that the pool will be closed at the Poly

I read on another thread that it is just the slide being closed and that the pool will still be open.

The pool will be open, but the slide is closed until mid March.

Quick question...Does anyone know if there are life jackets for children at the pool? There were some nice ones at POFQ, and if they are supplied at the Poly it will be one less thing to pack.

Yes, there are lifejackets but they are by the marina which is behind the volcano.

I just booked the Poly today for March 29-April 1!:cheer2: I'm so excited - I've been wanting to stay at the Poly since it was built when I was a kid and now I finally am!

My question is - I thought I read or heard somewhere that some of the rooms are being refurbished right now? Is that true and if so which buildings aren't done yet so I can request something else?

Thank you!:)

Wait, MID March?! We booked the Poly for two reasons, the slide and the monorail, and we arrive on the 5th of March. I thought it'd be done by the 28th of Feburary, but if THAT'S the case, we'll switch our reservation to the Boardwalk!

EDIT: I just called the front desk and the CM there told me that it is on schedule for the 28th as of right now, but if it is still closed, as a guest of the Poly we can use the pool and slide over at the Grand Floridian. :) We'll stay!

That is nice to hear. My Son IL has been teasing me because he knows what a hot topic pool hopping is here, so he has been telling me that because the slide is closed he is heading over to the GF and then is going to take pictures of my mickey head and post them on the DIS....you know.....Nancyg56 the pool hopper :confused3. It was a threat because I thought I lost something and had him searching thru the garbage :rotfl2:....twice :rotfl2::rotfl2:. I did not think the punishment fit the crime, but now he will need to think of something else :thumbsup2.

Once you figure out where you would like to be, what is the best way to actually get that building, side of building, floor and/or room???:confused3

Oh No say it isnt so about the pool being closed. I picked the POLY for many reasons but one of which was the zero entry pool for my DD. UGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
