A couple of questions???..if you please

Does the breakfast potatoes at Kona Cafe and Ohana have onions in them?

And is 4 hours enough time for DisneyQuest?

Oh and can you call to other rooms? Cause our gang of 20 or so will probably be in different rooms, and I was just wonder if you could call other rooms to like know whenever everyone is ready to leave and what not.

We are just back from a perfect 8-day land & sea vacation. We spent the first 4 days at the Polynesian. The staff there was wonderful and the grounds, as promised, were gorgeous. We were able to enjoy the pool, and had dinner one night at 'Ohana. We stayed in Room 3610 in Samoa and this was the view from our room

We were celebrating our anniversary, and one night we came back to a card with an autographed photo of Mickey & Minnie in the room. As to the coffee, I do love my Starbucks but found the coffee in the room to be satisfactory. In fact, the coffee at the Kona coffee bar didn't impress me, so I just stuck to what was supplied - free! I was also surprised to find very nice H2O spa products in the bath! I just can't say enough nice things about the Poly and couldn't find anything to complain about if I tried.

I was almost sad to leave for the cruise. And I know it will be nearly impossible to go back and stay anywhere else now. Ever. We'll either have to go less frequently or have shorter stays so we can return to the Poly!!

Any questions?

Not sure but you can always ask your server. The folks at Kona Cafe and 'Ohana are very good about accomodating food requests. I do it all the time. :) I don't remember any onions in the breakfast potatoes at 'Ohana though.

I haven't been to DisneyQuest but people have told me you need about 6 hours. For video-game-aholics there's never enough time.
:thumbsup2

You sure can! The directions are right on the phone. :thumbsup2

That's exactly what we did, Tonya. You will have the time of your life!!! Be sure to schedule some time to enjoy the resort. We did, but next time I'd like to plan an extra day just to spend the whole day at the Polynesian!!

I forgot to add in my notes above that I think one of the highlights of the trip was our dinner at 'Ohana. We timed it so Wishes was going on during our dessert (which was the most amazing bread pudding!).

Thanks for the reply! My in-laws are "English", they LOVE bread pudding! :cloud9: I will be sure to try to time wishes during dessert too. Did you ever golf or rent the power boats etc ? Are there horseback riding rentals some-where near?

I don't know about horse rentals. We didn't do boats or golf, but we watched people in power boats and it looked like fun!

I was just wondering if the tall thinner (cup holder friendly) versions of the refillable mugs are available at the Poly yet? The last time I was there they still just had the original style, but we have several of the newer styles from our recent trips to other resorts and really prefer that style.

They only have the fatter mugs at the Poly right now. I keep buying the mugs but so far none of the resorts we've stayed at (GF, YC and Poly) have the thin ones that fit in your car cupholder. I keep hoping.

hi 3Dog2Kidmom, did you request that room, and if not what view would that be considered. What a great view!!

After reading as much as possible on tikiman's site and here on the Dis, I had my TA request 3rd floor Samoa. I originally asked her to request 3610 after seeing on tikiman's site that you could almost see the castle, but said any 3rd floor room with a balcony would be fine. That is considered garden view if you can believe it!!! Straight ahead was a view of the Volcano pool, but I don't have those pics uploaded yet.

Has anyone stayed on the 2nd floor of the Hawaii Bldg.? Any Picts ? Any Likes/dislikes about it?

We stayed on the second floor in May 2005, garden view. Sorry, I don't remember the room number. We loved it because we were able to walk straight into the main room of the lounge without going either up or down. We had no complaints at all. The lack of a balcony didn't bother us. This time we're trying first floor because I think it would be fun to be able to have the patio.

Thanks for the info! We requested the 2nd floor so that my Disabled DD can have easier access to the lounge. Was it noisy? Was there a long wait for the elevator?

I really don't remember any noise problem. I think we were about half-way down the hall. Obviously, the further down the hall you are the fewer people you will have walking by your door, but then again it's also that much further for you to travel to get to your room. Honestly, I don't remember much about the wait for the elevator - we usually walked straight up the stairs to the lounge - but my daughters would periodically want to take the elevator and I don't remember it taking a very long time. There's only one elevator, but there are only 3 floors so it can't be too far away at any given time.

I bet you'll like the second floor, especially given the added convenience for your daughter.

Have a great trip!:)

Hi all,

A little help with the monorail...

It goes -
Poly > GF > MK > CR > TTC??
Is that right???

For Epcot we'll walk to the TTC and catch a direct monorail to Epcot. Correct? (seems faster than monorail to monorail and we don't mind the walk)

And for AK - hop a bus from the Poly.

And while I'm posting about the monorail...
We're working on our dining plan for Sept. - ressie time is just around the corner! ;) I want a TS that is easy to get to from the Poly, in a resort, not a 2 TS credit (I would love do CG or one at the GF, but I'm afraid that my kiddos will be a bit too young  ).... I'm looking at Concourse Steakhouse. Any opinions (I know - this should be on the dining board)? Or any recommendations for something close to the Poly? (no characters either - have plenty of those planned already). Thanks!!!!

you are correct about all the monorail stuff:thumbsup2 and the walk is really not bad. As for the restaurant, what about GF Cafe?

Yes, the GF Cafe - really wanted to do this, but it is going to be hosting the PF's character dinner while PF is being refurbished (during our dates) :guilty:
Still searching - I know there are a lot of options, but I like to keep our dining close to "home" - makes it a LOT easier with our little ones. I so wish GF Cafe was going to be using it's normal menu while we're there...

Thanks for the response PolyAddict!
