I saw the coffee pot in the photos, what size filters does it use? We are planning to bring our own coffee. :surfweb:

Silly question do you just ask for an upgrade? I mean nicely of course but I sitting here going I would cry too if they upgraded us like that, that is a wonderful way to celebrate your anniversary.

Nope, we didn't ask. We just greeted the CM with a smile, when she asked how we were that day I told her excited that it was our first trip without the kids and it was our 10 year anniversary trip, I think it was already in the computer she didn't really press to many buttons before she told us.

I love hearing these stories! I called my DDIL and told her that it happens at the Poly and she said that I cannot think it will happen for us. I know, and have booked the rooms we will be happy with, but I always want to cheer for the people who experience these nice treats.

Are In-room coffee makers and refrigerators standard in all rooms or do I have request them in advance??

They are standard indeed. Have fun!

Just a quick update. DH returned last night from our wonderful trip to the Poly. Not only were we upgraded from our standard garden view room we requested, we got the HONEYMOON SUITE! I almost started to cry when the cast member told us. We were in Tonga Suite 4, it is the room on the bottom floor on the right side looking at the building. It was amazing, king size bed, jacuzzi tub and a view of the marina.
We ate at O'hana's one night, it wasn't our type of food but it was good. we both tried the Lapu lapu drink and it made us both loopy, loopy. We ate at Kona for breakfast our last morning it was very good. DH had Tonga Toast and I had blueberry waffles. They gave us complimentry cream puffs on a plate that said congratulations for our anniversary they were also very good.

Unfortunately DH & I also got a stomach bug our 2nd day there and were stuck in the room all day. We were so happy we had such a beautiful room to spend it in but we were unhappy we lost 1-1/2 days of our trip for being sick.
Overall, it was a great trip and would recommend the Poly to anyone.

Isn't that a beautiful room? Last year, my husband surprised me by reserving it for one night. We loved it!!

DH and I spent 3 wonderful nights in the Tonga Honeymoon Suite -- not an upgrade -- we did reserve it. Beautiful room. Concierge service. Marilyn and Nina did such WONDERFUL things for us. It was our 21st Wedding Anniversary. The first afternoon when we arrived there was a beautiful flower arrangement and basket of goodies awaiting us.

After coming back in the evening, we had gotten turn-down service and our room was filled with balloons. Plus, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries awaited us. How beautiful was that?

Funny thing: The balloons began to deflate in the evening and when I woke up (semi-darkness) there was this white balloon hovering about an inch over my DH's head. I about jumped out of my skin!!! :rotfl2:

After the day at MK, and watching Wishes on the beach, a LOVELY Anniversary Card signed by Mickey and Minnie awaited us. Plus we got a certificate and Anniversary Buttons. WHAT A WONDERFUL MAGICAL SPECTACULAR TRIP!!!

I LOVE THE POLY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here are my notes on Hawaii views:

3510 may have more of the tree top blocking part of the view.

I was just reading through this thread and noticed Tikiman's comment, above, where he wasn't sure about the view from 3510. Dh and I stayed in that room a couple of weeks ago, and it had a beautiful, unobstructed, straight-on view of the castle. It was wonderful! :cloud9:

How big are the room safes? Fit a laptop?

Yes, they do. They actually seem designed for that purpose to me.

Two weeks from today we are checking into the Poly. Our entire family is arriving the next day to surprise their dad. Celebrating Life trip only 14 days away.

There will be many FIRST's. First time at Poly concierge, first MVMCP, first time having our children and grandchildren joining us, first time at Victoria and Alberts Chefs Table. Can you tell I'm getting excited? :cool1:  :cheer2: :bounce:

Happy Monday Everyone!

Have a wonderful trip! :sunny: The concierge lounge is very nice. I was amazed at the expansive view through those windows! I don't know if you are an early riser but when we stayed there, I woke up early on morning and had coffee and watched the sunrise from the lounge. I had the place all to myself!

That'll ease my mind big time if so. I need to take the work laptop :surfweb: with me and I don't want to leave it out anywhere. If it was mine, I would not care. I'd hide it but that's all.

I gotta hope the Poly is a relativley secure place, but you never know.

Thanks,

Maz

Time has gone by so fast! I can't wait to hear all about your very special trip.

Hi everybody!

Were looking at booking a trip December 15th-17th (yes, only two nights!) and we have a few questions....

1. What longhouses have been renovated? All or just some?

2. What size beds do they offer?

3. Seeing as there aren'tany rooms available through Disney, we are booking through resortvacationstogo.com, and they have a garden view room at the Poly. Has anyone booked through them? How are they?

4. Should we request anything when we get there?

5. How long is the monorail ride to the MK?

6. Do they do anything special for christmas?

7. How much do you like the resort? It's either this or the BC but seeing as we're only going to the MK for MVMCP it only makes sense to stay in the MK area.

I'm sure I'll have more later, but thanks in advance for all of you help!

LOVE LOVE LOVE    THE POLY.
Doesn't that say it all?

Have you been to Tikiman's Site? He has so much about the Poly. http://tikiman2001.homestead.com/index.html

I believe all the rooms have been renovated. I think all beds are double (2 in each room plus daybed) ... except the Honeymoon Suite where we just stayed. One big ol' King size there to snuggle up - no room for extra people!

Don't know about booking with the agency you mention.

I'd say 10 minutes at most to MK from Poly -- that includes the stop at GF.

They are starting to put up decorations but haven't been there at Christmas.

Don't know about requests either. Both times we were there the rooms, service, etc... were fabulous and we asked for nothing special!

We love the KONA Cafe ... there are several hidden Mickeys ... the surroundings and watching Wishes on the beach are so wonderful.

I'm sure I'LL have more later but I will stop here! :thumbsup2

1. All have been refurbished.

2. All rooms have two queens and a daybed with the exception of the suites.

3. Sorry but no clue. I'd personally keep trying WDW.

4. Smoking or nonsmoking but I would try to do so when you make your reservation.

5. 5-10 minutes depending on the GF stop.

6. Like all WDW resorts, the Polynesian is especially beautiful at Christmas.

7. We absolutely love the Polynesian which explains our 30 stays there.

Have fun! :sunny:

I just saw this at the top of the Disboards:
If you arrive at the Polynesian from 11/30 till the end of '06, you can check in up to ten days prior to your arrival by calling 407-828-7120 between the hours of 6:00am and Midnight.

Can someone please explain to me the value of checking in early? Does that mean if you have $ due upon check-in, they will charge you when you call? How does it affect room assignments or key distribution? If I am checking to the Poly as the 2nd half of a split stay, why might it be beneficial to check-in early, or at least when I first arrive on Disney property?

TIA! :)

I would like to know about this too. I called Disney and asked and they said they didn't know anything about it. They also said the phones aren't even open until midnight!
