I'm actually hoping for a 2nd or 3rd balcony in a smoke-free longhouse.
Hawaii is only concierge (right), so I won't have to worry about that one! ;)
Thank you!

Can you get a mickey waffle? :teeth:

Thanks
We just returned from a seven night stay at the Polynesian. We had breakfast several times at Captain Cook's (in the temporary location). You can get the 3 small Mickey Waffles that come with a side of strawberry sauce to pour on top. Or they have the regular maple syrup you can use. We had them and they are very good.! :thumbsup2

Just to give everyone out there who is interested (and even if you're not) a report: we stayed in Samoa, 3rd floor room 3612 on the quiet pool side. The room was very quiet. We rarely heard anyone unless they passed by in the hallway. Mousekeeping was quite efficient. Our room was spotless every day.

We had a fabulous time and highly recommend the Polynesian--can't wait to go back! We walked around the grounds as they are so beautiful and we have to agree with Steve--the Tikiman--when he says on his website that he doesn't think there is a "bad" longhouse to stay in. Rapa Nui does have a further walk to the Great Ceremonial house but it's really not that bad. We did find Samoa to be extremely convenient to everything.

We also thought the beds were VERY comfortable! The volcano pool was a little chilly but the water on the slide is warm so we found that it's best to slide down into the pool and by the time you splash down, you are warm!

Have a great trip! We wish we were there right NOW!!!

Was so glad to read your report. We were second guessing our choice of staying at the Poly instead of the WL this Christmas with all of the negative comments about service and mousekeeping. :goodvibes

Thanks for the heads up on the mickey waffles  can't wait. Sounds like Samoa worked out well. I'd like to stay there or Tokeleau (sp).

Thanks for the report and Sorry you are back. What else did you do while on property? Did you hit any of the other restaurants while you were there?

I had heard that all of the pools were heated. We were hoping that there would be a chance to take a swim if it got into the 70's as long as the water was warm. Guess not.

Any other helpful info?

Is it true there are no hottubs at the Poly? (how will I soothe my aching feet after a full day + MVMCP?)

This seems to be the case. No hot tubs at the Poly. :smickey:

No hot tubs at the Poly. Honestly I like it that way. Those hot tubs are just a kid magnet anyway. When we stayed at CBR and the WL the place was overrun with unruly, unsupervised kids. I hope the Poly never gets a hot tub.

We ate at Kona for lunch when we arrived and thought it was great. We regret that we didn't save room for dessert--it looked fabulous. Our favorite place to eat for the whole trip was O'hana. We were able to see Wishes from the window by our table and hear the music piped in. We all--including our picky seven y/o LOVED the food.

The pool is not so cold that it would keep you out of it. Try sliding down the slide into it like I said--the slide water is warm and you won't think the pool is cold when you hit the bottom. Too much fun!! We didn't try the quiet pool as our DS7 is hardly ever quiet. He loved playing in the sand on the beach and watching the fireworks and electric light parade from the beach. There are boats to rent at the marina but we just ran out of time. They look like fun, though.

We also saw a girl near the pool bar who was set up to do hair wrapping but we don't have enough hair for that. :sad2: We also saw that they were showing movies by the beach at night. One night they were showing Pirates of the Caribbean. There is so much to do--next time we want to stay longer than a week!

I think Tokelau would be a great location, too. I believe the rooms are also a little larger in that building.

MOVIES on the beach! I read that was a possibility , but I am happy to hear it is actually happening!

Oh man how fun would movies on the beach be! Lord have mercy this year won't go by fast enough to our trip.

I am glad I was not the only one to catch that about the movies. Is this an official thing like the campfire/movie at Fort Wilderness? Or is this just a once in a while thing?

The movies on the beach is not official yet and they are working out details now.

Oh, I hope they still play movies on the beach when we get there. I agree with the fact that 1 week is not enough time there. Maybe I can talk my DH going back home to work and leaving me and my DD there for a month!!!! :rotfl2:

From what they mentioned to me it is an idea that they might do. This is not something they are doing yet.

Oh, I am so jealous!! (and happy for you :goodvibes ) I hope I get lucky too. We are checking in on 11/4, did you make any special requests with your ressie? We requested Fiji 3rd Floor & 10th Anniversary Trip.

Just a quick update. DH returned last night from our wonderful trip to the Poly. Not only were we upgraded from our standard garden view room we requested, we got the HONEYMOON SUITE! I almost started to cry when the cast member told us. We were in Tonga Suite 4, it is the room on the bottom floor on the right side looking at the building. It was amazing, king size bed, jacuzzi tub and a view of the marina.
We ate at O'hana's one night, it wasn't our type of food but it was good. we both tried the Lapu lapu drink and it made us both loopy, loopy. We ate at Kona for breakfast our last morning it was very good. DH had Tonga Toast and I had blueberry waffles. They gave us complimentry cream puffs on a plate that said congratulations for our anniversary they were also very good.

Unfortunately DH & I also got a stomach bug our 2nd day there and were stuck in the room all day. We were so happy we had such a beautiful room to spend it in but we were unhappy we lost 1-1/2 days of our trip for being sick.
Overall, it was a great trip and would recommend the Poly to anyone.

We were there the week of Halloween. They had flyers up all around announcing that that two movies would be shown that week. I forgot what the first one was but the other was Pirates of the Caribbean. I didn't see if they actually played the first one, but one night when we returned from Magic Kingdom on the boat, we saw that they were showing Pirates on the screen. It was way over on the far side of the beach toward the hill with the gazebo on it. Maybe they were just trying it out for the holiday week? But I did actually see the screen with the movie on it, I promise!

Congrats on the Anniversary. Good to hear how nicely you were treated. While it is fresh in your mind, was there anything on the hotel property that you would say was a must see?

Since we lost so much time being sick we didn't get to explore as much as we would have like to. The lobby was beautiful and we did get to relax on the beach to watch wishes. It wasn't very romantic with kids running all over the place but it was still more peaceful than being in MK with thousands of people around.
