Email the concierge and get an itinerary to fill out. Also let them know about the birthday. Have a great time.

Thanks Steve...I just sent off an email. Hope to hear from them tomorrow A.M.

Oh, I am so jealous!! (and happy for you ) I hope I get lucky too. We are checking in on 11/4, did you make any special requests with your ressie? We requested Fiji 3rd Floor & 10th Anniversary Trip.

AlwaysEeyore: All I requested was non smoking Tokelau. I am still in disbelief. Once I check in 11/3 I will actually believe it. Fingers crossed this is right. I did speak to someone at wdw ressies and when I mentioned I thought I got an upgrade she sweetly shhhd me and said "now now I can't tell you anything. A suprise could be in store....you do like suprises!?"

I'll have to remember to report back when I return.

On this rainy Massachusetts morning it's nice to think that one year from today I will be waking up at the Poly.

Have a great vacation and I hope all your wishes come true.

Be sure to let us know how everything went.

Hi

We are leaving friday night staying 2 nights at POFQ then switching to poly for the start of 4 day/3 sea cruise 11/5/06. Is there anyway I can check the portion of poly stay. I want to request building etc or is just easier to wait until we get to the poly. Has anyone stayed here as part of the cruise?? Are there certain block of rooms, buildings held for this, just getting a little worried, I don't know how this works. (LOL-Type A-Here-Love to have everything planned-or at least have some idea)

Thanks

If you are checking into the Polynesian in a few days than a request would be too late. By now the room assigners would have reviewed any noted requests. The best time to put in a request is when you make the reservation. I am sure it will be fine. I don't know if it is still true (since things chenge so often) but they use to put land and sea bookings in Tokelau longhouse and if that is still true than you will be in a great location.

Aloha

Steve

This has probably been answered somewhere... I am wondering what size milk to order. Gallon or 1/2 gallon. What fits in the fridge?

THANKS!!! 34 more days!!!

Hello Poly lovers and experts! We have a Garden View room booked at the Poly. Can you tell me which longhouses have the 2nd floors with no balcony? And where the "smoking optional" areas are?

Also, as 2 women travelling alone, we usually shy away from 1st floor patios. Is it unreasonable to request a 3rd floor non-smoking room? Is that too limiting? In the past I've never had my requests met, so my new strategy has been not to make them (except non-smoking). I'm thinking if I know ahead of time where I don't want to be (no balcony, smoking optional, first floor), I can ask for a change at the front desk when we check-in (we should be at the Poly by 1PM).
TIA! :)
PS: MickeyMaz-- For all ADRs, they will hold your reservation for 15 minutes (or in your case until 5:30).

My mother and I went late this October and we had requested non-smoking and balcony (figuring that left mostly 3rd and some 2nd floor rooms). We ended up in a 1st floor room anyway, albeit in a very nice location... it seems to be hit or miss whether they honor your requests at the Poly... just remember they're just that, requests, and consider yourself lucky if they're honored (and don't let it ruin things if they aren't)! If it makes you feel any better, the sliding doors have a pretty hefy lock on them, or at least ours did. I never felt unsafe because of it (although the hallway door to our room not locking did... but that's another story and hopefully a very unique problem).

Silly question?

I was wondering if the Longhouses have elevators?

Are there any pictures of the Poly at Christmastime? I am trying to figure out if I should split my stay WL/Poly or just Poly... I don't want to miss out on the Christmas spirit.
Thanks! :)

If you're looking for that Christmasy feeling, keep your whole stay at the WL. Nothing beats the atmosphere at that hotel at Christmas time. Other than the GF, i don't think any of the monorail resorts go out of their way in decorating for Christmas. I like a traditional Christmas though, not tropical. I want to feel like it's really Christmas and chilly out, lol. I'm not a poly fan any time of year either so maybe if you like the poly you'd enjoy it anytime. The WL is just magical during the holidays, love that tree with the teepee ornaments!

[/QUOTE] All except Niue, it has a walkway across to Raratonga so that you can use that one when you are on the second floor. Nuie also is a smoking optional longhouse and only has two floors.

There are a few photos here at the bottom of this link

http://www.tikiman2001.homestead.com/poly12.html

I have more photos I got last year from someone who was there and I keep forgetting to add them. There was a huge tree in the concierge lounge. They play Hawaiian Christmas songs around the resort. I have heard so many good things about it at Christmas time that I had to go see for myself this December.

I am splitting my stay between the Poly and WL this December to get the best of both worlds. I would say if you are very concerned about having an "All-Out Christmas-Spirity" experience, then keep your split stay.

But I've seen the pics on Steve's site and they look pretty Christmas-Spirity to me :).

Hello all Poly-lovers  ! Getting more and more excited as my first trip to the Poly approaches!

:wave2:

Thanks Steve (and the Laughing Place) for the pictures.
We can't stay at the WL the whole time, because we can only get it for the first 5 of the 7 nights. We had the Poly booked for the end of the week, but it was stretching the budget. ;) Then, this week I got an AP rate at the Poly for the whole week, making them comparable in price, so I have to make a decision between a WL/ Poly split or just the Poly, but we are definitely staying at the Poly for at least 1/2 the trip! :)

I know this info is somewhere, but I can't find a nice list. We have a Garden View room booked at the Poly.
Can you tell me which longhouses have the 2nd floors with no balcony?

TiggerAllie--I believe that only the newer longhouses have 2nd flr balconies so that means only Tahiti, Tokelau, and Rapa Nui have 2nd flr balconies. The smoking optional longhouses are Tuvalu, Niue, Tahiti, Hawaii, and Tonga. So if you are looking for both 2nd flr balconies and smoking optional your only choice is Tahiti. Hope that helps :)
