We just got back from an 8 day trip to the Poly and it was really nice for the most part. I had asked for a 3rd floor castle view but got a bottom floor, corner room....not too happy about that one at first but then the ducks showed up! we had SO MUCH FUN feeding the ducks and "Bark" the goose! we called him "Bark" because he always sounded like he was barking at you! we were in the Hawaii bldg. so we were practically on the beach...it was wonderful. My favorite CM..Becky was a great help when we ran into a problem! the house keeping crew managed to take my daughters Blanky with them when they changed the sheets! she is HEART BROKEN! she has had that blanket since she was 2 years old and it's a comfort thing for her and NOW IT'S GONE! the minute we noticed it was gone we let the Concierge desk know and they called the laundry but there was nothing they could do at the time. They told us the day we left that it would probably be a few more days before they find it in the laundry sorting and that they would send it to us if they find it! I SURE HOPE THEY FIND IT! you would think that house keeping would pay a little more attention to what they were pulling off the bed but I'm sure they do so many beds a day that they don't have time.
We'll just keep our fingers crossed!
Other then that, it was really wonderful and we hope to get a chance to stay there again! Helen
WHY NOT PUT ITEMS IN THE CLOSET THAT MIGHT BE TAKEN IN THE LAUNDRY.

KIANGA: We usually do put things like blankets and stuffed animals away but we had an early breakfast and my daughter forgot to put her blanket away! :sad2:
I sometimes forget things like that and she's just a kid so I can understand how she would too. :rolleyes1 I don't really blame the staff, it's just an "oops" that sometimes happens and we are hoping that a small miricle happens and we ge the blanket back. :teeth: As I said, we had a great time there anyway! :thumbsup2 Helen

I totally identify with your little girl. I am a grown woman and have a pillow that I have had since I was a year old (and believe you me that was a loooooong time ago). I can not sleep without it (my DH calls it a dead rat :o ) it goes on vacation with me, hospital stays, etc. I always make sure that it is the first thing I pick up and hide when I get up in the AM. Surely if housekeeping saw it they would scream and probably stick it in the incinerator!

I really hope they find your DD's blanket.

Just returned from a 5-day Poly visit! :thumbsup2 We requested a room near the pools and ended up with a fabulous room in Samoa (3606) that had an awesome view of the Volcano pool and lagoon. Good enough to see some of the fireworks and all of the lagoon electrical parade from the balcony. Totally refurbished room. Very nice.

Had dinner at 'Ohana one night (advance reservations). In a word - DELICIOUS.

Please post questions!! :cool1:

I didn't notice any additional comments regarding Capt. Cook's at the Poly while there this week. The usual refurbishing signs and obvious construction. Seems the opening is still as scheduled via Tikiman's site.

We are hopefully making our next visit to WDW and the Poly :thumbsup2 next October. We (my DH and I) will be travelling with our three kids, but since the baby will be <3 we figured we could stay at the Poly in one room :cool1:

But...we have invited an additional adult friend to travel with us. We are ecstatic that he will be joining us (his first trip!) but now wonder if we can still afford to stay at the Poly? :confused3

What are our options for this group? Our friend could stay with our two boys if we have to get two rooms. But...if we have to get two rooms...it might cause us to consider a moderate :( Not that that would be awful, but I was SO looking forward to being back...

Advise?

I think you would need another room :sad2:

Can the friend defray some of the cost? Can you get any discount (AAA)? (not that I ever seem to get discounts anywhere but ...)

If not, you will just have to get your fix by visiting the Poly ... you will at least be at WDW!

My parents are considering staying at the POLY with us. I had put in a request for the 2nd floor of the Hawaii Bldg. Does anyone know if we can get adjoining rooms on that floor? If we request to be on the same floor do you think that will happen???? :confused3

Do you mean connecting? Adjoining just means next to each other. We've never stayed on the second but have had many rooms with a connecting door during our 30 or so stays at the Polynesian so I imagine second floor Hawaii is no exception.

I would think they will try very hard to get you on the same floor if you ask.

We had connecting rooms on the 1st floor of the Hawaii Bldg on our last trip (January, 2006). My DM came along to even out the adult to child ratio, but we had to get two rooms. We asked for connecting and did not have a problem.

Thanks! I am hoping to get connecting rooms with them but as long as we are on the same floor it will be fine :thumbsup2

Angel,
Sorry I haven't replied sooner. I plugged my wireless router into the ethernet port located on the desk using the cable I brought although you could use theirs, it doesn't matter. I set my router for DHCP and then let my laptop connect to the router via wireless. I would set some kind of security on the router so other people don't jump on your internet connection and use it for free while you pay the $10. Its not the fastest connection in the world, actually its pretty slow. I ran some tests and only got 256kbps. For $10 a day, that's not very good.

We'll be leaving for the Poly in 7 days  We've asked to be placed in Tokelau, hopefully we will get it. I remember a while back someone posted about electrical problems in that building. I'm assuming they've figured out the problem by now? Has anyone stayed there recently? Is it completly refurbished now?

I am so excited & can't wait to get there :cool1:

I was surprised how slow it was too. i thought my home dsl was slow but it is way faster than the "high" speed i had at the poly. i wish disney would get with the program and offer it either for much less or free like chain hotels do. In the city of Pittsburgh, you get two free hours per day, why couldn't they at least do that much, disney is MUCH bigger than pittsburgh!

Hey all... we'll be down at the Poly in 19 days. Anyone else going to be there November 17-23?

It seems the world we all live in now has changed Big Time. Now, all companies have to show Black in ALL areas. So I am sure that is an issue for Disney also. I understand that in Vegas they don't even keep a slot machine in an area of the casino that does not show profit. :confused3

I agree with you Donna, at least the deluxe resorts could certainly make it free for an hour or two a day. I am only referring to cost of room, not that staying in a guest staying in a value resort should not be intitled too, just what guest are already paying for level of service.

Griffs95, We will be arriving a few days after you. :wizard:
