Tell us about the temporary Captain Cook's at the Tangaroa Snack Isle please. And is everything still completely underwraps at the new CC. I would imagine so but it is fun to ask. ;)

Yes, the refurbishing is still going on and it is still boarded up so there was nothing to see. The temporary location is fine. There were no crowds the few times we were there and we had no difficulty finding a seat. That been said, the food quality is just so-so (IMO) so we pretty much ate elsewhere.

Shelleyr25: Did you order the tonga toast at CC's? We have ressies at Kona's for one morning, but would like the tonga toast more than once!

If so, how was it?

Didnt order it, although I am sure I would have loved it. I had the Mickey Waffles and was a bit disappointed that there were only 3 in the serving. But then again, I didnt order the Tonga Toast because as it was, I was eating way too much being on the dining plan, and I was trying to take it a bit easier so I shouldnt really complain about the serving size..LOL!!

Question about internet access...my husband will need to check in with work a couple of times during our trip. Is there "public" internet access or is it just available in the room? He would rather not bring his laptop if he can avoid it. If not at the poly, is there another option?

We've used the in-room access when we've stayed at the Poly. I believe the only option without a notebook is one of the business centers, such as at the GF. I'm pretty sure Poly does not have one.

I am bringing my laptop with us so I can download pictures from our digital camera every night. DH thinks it would be a good idea to order some pics from Snapfish on the last night of our stay, that way they would be ready for pick up by the time we arrive back home (via car, 2 days later).

Is it easy to access their network for someone who isn't too knowledgeable with stuff like that? I'd hate to sign up for it, then wind up spending way to much time trying to figure it all out!

Also, can you confirm the price per day?

According to allears (see http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/internet.htm) the price is $9.95/day. You can also find some useful information about the service at that Web page as well.

In terms of ease of use, we did not have any problems. It should be pretty much plug and go if you have a notebook computer with a network port and the port configured to dynamically receive a network address (typically the default configuration). :surfweb:

:wave2: Hello. I am curious about the children's activities and pool activities. Is there a listing of the activities and the times somewhere on the web? :thanks:

It's on Tikiman's website under "fun stuff." It has all the free things you can do, all the kid's activities, and all the things you could pay for. Very nice!

Here's a direct link to the info on Tikiman's Web site - FUN STUFF LINK.

How long does it take to get to DTD from the POLY. One site had it as 60 minutes, could that be right?
It would be so nice if they had buses to other parks at each park like they do at Epcot & DS for Epcot & DS. ;)

Try this link. It is great at telling you from to times. From Poly to DTD via bus was 27 minutes. That sounds better.

I can not remember from our stay last year.

Does the Poly have ceiling fans?

Do they have them in concierge?

TIA
:)

we are thinking of going in october and are curious, are all the refurbishing of the rooms complete or are they still working on some rooms? If all aren't done do you know which are.
thanks

Okay...I'm new at this ressie thing...in fact I'm new at this whole Disney thing (it was a whole lot less complicated years ago even with kids!!) Do I need reservations for breakfast? (Dec.1-7) Is breakfast a long process? (I thought the whole Disney thing was get up and get to the parks early to avoid the crowds???) :confused3 :confused3

How about grabbing a bit later in the day back at the Poly? Reservations needed again?

Need is such a strong word. To get into one of the character breakfasts, I'd strongly recommend an ADR. If you are looking for a quick counter service breakfast at Captain Cook's, you would not really need a breakfast reservation. With any of the other table service breakfast locations, you probably would not need one, but it would not hurt to have one.

We've stayed at the Poly and have been able to walk into Kona for lunch without any hassle during non-peak season. If you are looking for lunch at a table service location, you again may be able to walk right in without a reservation, but again it would not hurt to have one. I've read some posts here that since the Dining Plan has been available, it's more important to have your table service reservations in place in advance. Some of the posts refer to long waits, or even people being turned away.

Still wondering if anyone knows if there is a playground at Poly. As far as I can tell there is one at the Contemporary, but seems like quite a walk to get to especially with two young kids (3 & 1). It would be nice to have one right at Poly. We have booked a week long trip with the intention of going to a different park every other day and taking the opposite days as "down time" for our kids...planning to do some swimming, Downtown Disney shopping, Character dining (cross our fingers), etc...just trying to come up with some ideas.

Thanks to anyone who can help me out!!! :wizard:
