T&S- honestly, i don't see it that much at the hospital and if i do, the baby is on antibiotics etc.. i did find this on a website.. "Frequently wash your child's and your own hands. Carefully clean nursing bottles and nipples. Wash linens, toys and other articles frequently." hope that helps a little.. if you're still concerned over the next couple of days, make another appointment with the doc.. because if it is thrush she will need to be on antibiotics.. also, you can watch and see if her mouth seems sore, not wanting to suck etc..

thanks for the tips on the nail trimming.. she wakes up so easily i don't want to do it when she sleeps, i did used to do that, but i'd rather her have long nails and sleep.. :goodvibes i've heard of moms biting the nails when they are babies, but i don't think i could do it now since she's older and don't want her to pick up any biting tips.. :rotfl:

Wow, I had almost 3 pages to catch up on. I had to laugh to myself at the discussions on having a baby that wants to be held constantly, etc. I haven't posted because Aidan never lets me put him down. Things have been going from bad to worse lately. My hot water went out and, of course, the plumber says the whole heating system has to be replaced at a cost of almost 5 thousand dollars. That's just what I need when I've been away from work for months.
Tasha - I know how you feel about the visitors. I have a story on that subject. My grandmother lives in Florida and is famous for her 2 month visits up here to NJ. I love her very much but she has so many annoying habits that I can't even get into it. She came out to help with each of my other two children, but it has been 5 years since my last DS was born. Since then, she has aged to the point where I don't really trust her with the baby. She has also gotten nasty in her old age and I couldn't stand two months of her habits. Last time she was here, she actually told me lies about my DH to get me mad. I also heard a conversation on my answering machine between her and her sister. She was saying all kinds of nasty things about me and my DH. When we met her at Disney in October, I told her as nicely as I could that I wanted to have time to myself with this baby since I knew he would be my last one. I didn't say that she couldn't come to visit but I asked her to wait a month or so and let me have some time with him. Well, she booked herself a trip here anyway and decided to stay for 2 months. She managed to arrive two days before I had the baby and will be leaving two days before I go back to work, so there goes my time alone with the baby. There is no place she can sleep here except in the family room in the basement but she can't get down the basement stairs. Therefore, she has had to stay at my mother's house. I suppose she expects me to pick her up every day and bring her to my house but my mother's house is 20 minutes away and I refuse to go back and forth every day with the kids. Well, she is mad at me because I refuse her help, but she won't tell me that to my face. She is talking about me to anyone who will listen. My uncle actually came to my defense which I appreciated, but my aunt (who she lives with in Florida) is angry with me now too and telling people that she doesn't want to come for her visit to see the baby in June. I just can't believe that this is my family! I don't care if people are angry at me but at least tell me to my face. This is my grandmother for goodness sake! Sorry I rambled on, but I had to get this off my chest. I do that a lot here don't I. I'm really a happy person. Tasha - be happy your company is the kind that leaves!!

Leah~ I think I am going to see about getting Kylie antibiotics just to be on the safe side.

DisKim~ Oh, trust me, I am grateful that our visitors leave. The problem we have is that they live right beside us so they keep coming back! :teeth: I am definitely relieved I am not going through anything like you are w/your grandmother though! Hope it gets better soon! :grouphug:

Just have to say that Molly took a 5 hour nap today after I posted she was screaming. I laid her in my bed and she slept from 8:45-9:45; then we shopped til 12:30. Then she still didn't get up til 1:45! And last night she slept from 8 pm til 2:30! Pretty good; she ate and then slept til almost 6. What a good girl!

And, my name is Robin and I'm a Gymborholic. I *thought* about spending just another $50. Um, yeah, I spent another $100. I went online to look at the price of a camp shirt for DS4 and it was only $9.75! so then I bought the matching Tshirt, shorts, bought the same outfit in baby boy for our neighbor, whose baby is turning 1 this summer, and, uh, two more outfits for Molly. And some socks to get me to the $100 mark. Free ship on $100 purchase and I spent- get this- $100.12. Yeah, so the next two weeks will be no shopping for me- I need to pay back that $100 on the credit card instead!

Wow, a 5 hour nap, must be nice to be a baby!!

At least I can't complain about Madison's naps, she does take a nice 2-2.5 hour nap everyday. Her dr gave me the number for the sleep clinic at Children's National Medical Center. She said he's really good and there's a hotline to call with questions/updates. She also said to wait another 2 weeks or so before I call him cause it sounds like Madison is improving since moving her to the toddler bed. Which is true, she is, but still waking so much it's hard for me to see that! So we'll see, 2 weeks will be hard for me to wait, I might have to call next week. She's totally in a bad mood today though, after getting examined, and especially after the 2 shots, so we'll see how tonight goes. We're going to my mom's house in NJ tomorrow so I won't expect to see any changes while we're gone.

Naps? What are naps? Aidan doesn't take any. Well, unless you count the five minute cat naps he takes in my arms after he eats. His older brother was the same way. My DD is the only one of my children who slept as a baby.
Alice 28 - You're making me want to go to Gymboree! Unfortunately, the nearest store to me is almost an hour away. That would be one way to fight your addiction - move far away from the store :teeth:

I thought I would share a couple of pictures I took of Tyler today on his one month birthday. :)

oh - quick question - has anyone ever used or heard of Fenugreek? It's an herbal supplement that some women swear by for increasing milk production. I have a friend who used it and said it was great, just thought I would ask here too.

tasha- i bet the doc will want to see her again before prescribing antibiotics just to see if it actually is thrush.. does it look worse to you? or have you just been paying more attention to it? or are you just all worried now? :)

haha, don't stress about it.. just keep an eye on it for a couple of days and see.. i personally think it's easiest to see on the roof of the mouth.. so, look there and see if you see any white patches..

tkyes- soooooo cute!!!! i have heard of fenugreek, but i don't know anything about it.. just heard of it.. big help huh.. haha

First of all- Tyler is SO cute!

Fenugreek is the name of the herbal supplement I couldn't remember the name of when we were discussing this before (I know I mentioned the mother's milk tea and the brewers yeast)----Fenugreek is the other one I took- 2 tablets, 3 times a day. My lactation consultants recommended it. It seemed to help anyway!

Diskim----uh, the second $100 I spent was online!!!!!!!!!!!!! I spent $50 in the store, was brewing over all the stuff I wanted, went online and spent $100!!!!!!!! Bets of all, no older kids to plead with to be good while we're in the store- a few clicks and it's done! :teeth: I'm SO bad!!!!!!!! :bitelip: :p

Tyler is such a cute little boy! I forgot how tiny they are till I saw him next to that stuffed animal. Very cute photos.

Also, I used fenugreek, as per the lactation consultant's suggestion. It was in a 'cocktail', or 'tincture' as she called it, which was called More Milk Plus. You can order it online, I'm just not sure where anymore. It had more than the fenugreek, some other herbs, and I think it really worked. When my supply started waning a few times when Madison would go through phases where she didn't want to nurse, I'd drink the Mother's Milk teas and pump and that seemed to help a lot too.

Oh, and I forgot, I just read this article (can't remember where at the moment...) that said that more frequent, shorter nursing/pumping sessions will boost supply more quickly than less frequent, longer sessions. It was an article for new moms, I'm guessing either in a baby magazine or online (I get the american baby e-mails, so could be that, but also a few others, gosh, I really can't remember). I thought of you when I read it and meant to post, but completely forgot. So it said if your baby nurses (or if you pump) for 10 minutes every hour or 2, it's better than for 20 minutes every 3-4 hours. This was specifically for new moms building their supply, I don't mean forever. But anyway, I hope that helps!

Thanks for posting that. I know there are many ways to boast your milk and I get sad when I hear people just stopping with a low milk supply because they didn't get good support and info on how to bost it. (as many challanges I faced and still do with BF, that wasn't one of them.)

I have a friend (I don't really know her well, but she is in the same local mom's group.) That I recently was talking with and she said her 2 week old was having a hard time adjusting to forlmula. She was changing over because of a low milk supply. She didn't really want to, her Dr. had not given her any suggestions on what else to do. I emailed her a few web sites and the number to the local breast feeding support program. She was going to try them, I hope she does.

Good news fellow mom's. Lily has been sleeping a few 4 hour and even a little more strechs of sleep. Infact for the past few nights I have only gotten up once a night with her. This is such good news for me! :cheer2: :grouphug: I hope it continues and I didn't just ruin it! ;)

Tasha+Scott If you still have unopened packages of Dri Bottoms or White Cloud diapers, you can return to Wal-Mart for store credit. I did that after my diaper shower in Feb. I took back several packs and got a credit which I used to buy formula (I already had tons of diapers).
I will agree that Pampers and Luvs have worked out the best for Jimmy. After all my "free" Pampers are gone, I'll probably buy the Luvs unless I have pampers coupons.

Alice28 I am on the verge of becoming a "Gymboreeaholic", too. Their girls clothes are much cuter than the boys stuff, but it's still much nicer than what I've been seeing at the Gap lately. I also really like Carters clothes. Our Sam's Club had adorable Carters rompers for less than $5.00! Needless to say, Jimmy has a bunch of them.

Hi everyone! I'm having a tough week, traveling for work. I'm actually waiting for my shuttle now to head to the airport and try to catch an earlier flight home. I haven't seen the kids since Tuesday morning, just talked to them on the phone to say good night and try to read them a story. Michael had his 4 month check on Monday - just a few weeks late - he is 26 inches long and just over 16 pounds. He's growing so fast I can't believe it, the girls didn't gain anywhere near this quickly!

Tamie,

He is so cute!

I had to take Kona to the Dr. this morning because she had some blood in her diaper. She weighed in at 16.1 pounds. :earseek: The girl is a chubby monkey!

I hope everyone is happy and healthy.

I'm trying to stop myself from going to Gymboree this weekend. Kona is already out of 0-3 month clothes and she'll soon be too big for 3-6 monthis if she keeps growing like she is.

Have a great day!
:sunny:

Tamie - He is adorable!! One month already - doesn't time go by so fast now?

Alice28 - Oh yeah, I forgot about purchasing online. You know where I'm going after I get off the DIS.

Well, I take back what I said. Aidan is actually taking a nap right now. I think I exhausted the poor kid. We ran all over the place today. I could see the relief in his face when we got home. I have good news. I think I found a babysitter. Aidan and I visited with her today. Her house was clean and organized and she gave me tons of references. I have a friend who reccommended her and I taught her son in my creative writing class. He's absolutely wonderful. Oh, and her house is only five minutes from my school. I'd still rather stay home, but at least I know I'll be picking him up every day at 2 pm. It could be worse. I have a question. Did anyone else's baby develop little pimples all over his/her face? Aidan has quite a few. If so, is there anything that can be done about it or do I just leave it alone?

Well, she definitely has thrush. I noticed last night that it is on the roof of her mouth too. It just isn't as noticeable as her tongue. Not sure how she got it though since I had her by c-section and I always wash her bottles good. Oh, well. Her dr. called in a prescription to my pharmacy. I have to give her this medicine 4 times a day until 2 days after it clears up. I have to put 1 milliliter in each cheek. I am sure this won't be fun, but at least it will get rid of it!

Tamie~ Cute pics! Can't believe he is a month already!

DisKim~ Glad you may have found a babysitter! What a relief!

Lissawynn~ I completely forgot about taking the diapers back for store credit. That's what I will do!

Alice~ I think we are going to have to plan a DIS intervention to keep you from going broke by Gymboree! :teeth:

:wave2: Hi all you new moms. I've still got about 5 weeks (if I make it that long). I have a question for all you moms who are breastfeeding. What kind of nursing bra are you using? I used Hanes and Medela with my previous 2 children but my "girls" are going to be a little larger this go 'round and I think I'm going to have to invest in a really good bra. I do not mind paying a little more for a bra, I don't want to look floppy and droopy. Has anyone tried the Wacoal brand bra? I have heard that is a good line of bras but know nothing about the nursing bra. Anyway, if any of you have recommendations for a good supportive bra let me know.

I hope you all are doing well and getting a decent amount of rest. I know this 3rd trimester starts to prepare us for the sleepless nights ahead :) .

Yay for finding a good sitter. I know how looking for a sitter was SO anxiety provoking with me and DS#1...a good sitter is worth her weight in gold.

Pimples- leave them alone with the exception of washing his face with a mild soap and warm water. Sam had some and I remember how they bugged me, but they went away over time and with gentle cleansing. Molly has some, but only on her right cheek; it's odd. I wonder if maybe she sleeps on the cheek more (she often sleeps on her side or belly-----trust me, I make sure she's only sleeping on the fitted sheet and she can already lift her head, so the worry of sids isn't asmuch...she will sleep for hours and hours on her belly this way, and fitfully sleep on her back...i.e.- the last two nights she has slept a 6 hour stretch, and yesterday and today she took a 3.5+ hour nap...!)Anyway, I wonder if she sleeps on that cheek more and maybe spitup or droll has kind of clogged her little pores.

Tasha- I hope the thrush goes away soon....I guess it's a good thing you're not breastfeeding, cause you would be dealing with sore breasts right now!

DisKim - Congrats on finding a babysitter. The end of the year is near for both of us! I'm done with the kids on Thursday! I'm taking off on Wed. to avoid "field day". I'd be responsible for watching someone else's homeroom all day long, and I just don't have the patience for it.
I think Jimmy and I will have an outing that day, just the two of us.

thanks girls! One GNC I went to was out of it today so I'll go check tomorrow.

justthat - I don't think the short frequent sessions was working for me. I actually am getting slightly more by just pumping every 4 -5 hours when I actually feel "full". I was getting nothing on the short frequent ones, plus feeling miserable being tied up to the machine all day. I don't feel so bad now if Tyler is fussy and I can't get upstairs to pump right away.

tasha - sorry to hear about the thrush, good luck.

diskim - congrats on the sitter, that is great!

I'm running to the Gap and Gymboree tomorrow, I'm a little scared at what I might find! lol

Enjoy the rest of your long weekends!
