Bridget~ Kylie was 9 lbs 7 oz at birth and took 4 oz of formula for her first feeding. She has gone through quite a few growth spurts over the past 4 months but one of the ones that was the biggest was around 6-7 weeks. I could not seem to fill her up no matter what I did and I was formula feeding exclusively. And it wasn't that she took tons in one feeding, she didn't. It was that she wanted to eat almost every single hour! Well, my mom also told me to start giving her cereal in her bottle. Well, my instincts were telling me not to but I wanted other opinions so I started a thread on here about it. Basically most people said no, don't do it. My pediatrician said, no wait till she is atleast 4 months. So, I didn't give her cereal. Once the growth spurt passed things resumed to normal. She doesn't eat a whole lot now...except during occasional growth spurts. She is in the 90th percentile for both height and weight so she actually eats less than you might guess. Anyway, at 3.5 months I thought she was acting ready to start cereal and we tried it for a few days. Not a good idea. She wasn't ready and wasn't interested. On top of that it made her sluggish and sleepy and made her poop stink! So we stopped the cereal after a few days. She turned 4 months on Labor Day and I have the okay to start her on cereal now but I think I am going to wait another month or 2. She doesn't show much interest and she isn't a very big eater anymore so I see no reason to rush. Now Dh's grandmother and aunt want me to not only start her on solids they thought she should already be eating things like mashed potatoes! Even my mother has since stated that she didn't think Kylie was ready for cereal and that feeding her things like mashed potatoes so young was just crazy! Why is everyone so concerned in making my child grow up faster than she needs to anyway?!

Maybe it's because at 4 months most people think she is between 6-8 months, who knows!? Anyway, please don't let your family pressure you into starting cereal so young. Most likely Aiden is going through a growth spurt which will pass before you know it.
joats~ Kylie is a major mover too so I know how you feel! She now knows how to roll both ways and does it constantly. You cannot lay her on her back for more than a few seconds before she rolls onto her stomach and vice versa. She'll give us a look like 'yeah, I'm a big girl and I did that by myself!' It's priceless! Anyway, the only problem with it is that we lay her on her back in her crib and eventually she rolls onto her stomach in her sleep which wakes her up. And then of course I end up getting up with her. But that's okay. I am glad she is starting to become mobile. Of course I may regret saying that later!
DisneyPhD~ Congrats on Lily sleeping through the night! You most certainly deserve it after 13 months of waiting!
DisKim~ First welcome back from your trip! Glad you are home safely! Second, I hope tomorrow (or I guess I should say later today!) goes smoothly! I am sorry that you are having a rough time with it but I know Aiden will be fine. And he has a great mama so don't worry. He'll be okay.
lissawynn~ Ugh! Morning sickness! I actually didn't experience that but I know I would have been miserable. Dh and I are planning to start trying for #2 probably around Sept. or Oct. 2006 so I may get terrible MS with the next one. You know, kind of like payback for not getting it at all this time!
Jenn Lynn~ Eli is so darned cute!

I wanted to name a boy Elijah and call him Eli if we ever have one but dh says no. Oh, well. Love his name (I know it's Elias and not Elijah though) anyway!
Alice~ Don't be too hard on yourself! You are doing the best you can in your situation and just think, come Jan. your dh will be home and things will most likely get easier by leaps and bounds! Stay strong! And you rock!
Well, it has been crazy around here this week. First since we live in NE MS we have lots of shelters full of evacuees from NO and southern MS. I have been donating all I can and buying what I can. I am trying to help in every way possible. It is amazing what the people around here have done for those that lost everything. I was moved to tears when I noticed that all of the supplies that the salvation army was requesting had been bought out! That includes, diapers, toothpaste, toilet paper, etc.
Walmart fed the people in the shelters one day and has even hired a few people from NO that worked at the walmart there. It is so nice to see these people receive some help. I cannot imagine what they must be going through.

My MIL just got back from Biloxi, MS. She is a nurse and she went there to help the wounded, etc. She had to sleep on the ground in the parking lot of Walmart. She said it was really bad there but she was glad to help. And yes, this is the same MIL that I usually don't get along with. But I am really proud that she helped the way she did!
My SIL has also been a lot nicer to me and easier to get along with since she became preg. with # 2. That's good since her child and Kylie will only be about 11 months apart in age and then if I have another one in 2007 we will have 3 under the age of 3. We'll see how it goes though!
On a great note (well, to me anyway!

) Dh's raise proved to be better than we expected so we are able to stay at the Wilderness Lodge on our trip in May. We are only staying 4 days though. 6 days altogether if you count the 2 days we will have to stop on the way there and back since we are driving. I have never stayed at the WL but I have been there just to see what it was like and I am so excited I could bust! My mom has decided not to go with us though. But anyway, it is really going to happen since I have already booked the reservation and already paid some on it. I am so excited!
