Robin & Ginamarie- First challenge has been posted. If you haven't seen it yet- WOW!!!

Wow, I sure hope me no longer having a car has jinxed all you DIS moms. There have been lots of car troubles lately! Speaking of cars, keep your fingers and toes crossed for me as we have a lead on a van that my Dad may be willing to buy for me, and should find out more tomorrow about how much and what condition it's in....

My brother and his girlfriend have arrived. So far so good. DH was supposed to stop to see the kids yesterday, didn't. Then at 9:45 p.m. last night called and said "I'll stop by and see whoever's awake" DUH??? Of course they were sleeping, they go to bed at 8!! So he said he'd be by tonight, but so far, no call or sign from him, so I'm hoping he's a no-show once again. I didn't say a word to the kids and they haven't mentioned a thing about him the last two days...

Hillbeans - I'd be thrilled about the airfare too, :thumbsup2 .

Lissawynn - I'm so sorry you are being driven insane by this woman, does she not have anything better to do with her time? Good luck tomorrow!!

Robin - MIL stays at a hotel? What a deal!

DisKim - sorry about the money thing. I sure hope those checks arrive quickly!!

Robin - Wow, one would think that when you are already paying over $300 for a room, that a bunkbed shouldn't be an added amenity. :confused3

Jill - sorry the Santa line was so long, Santa in Florida sounds good to me!!BTW - love your sig pic!

J&D - great job on having the teletubby!

FF - Hope you enjoy teh teletubby, have a great night!

Sorry to all the moms I missed. I will pop on later (I hope). Gotta go brush teeth and put the kiddos to bed.

I just don't get it.

I swear, I could spend money standing naked in my bathroom.

I went to Target today for a few stocking stuffers. And had one of those "Oh, yeah, and Packing tape. And laundry soap. And exercise bras. And . . ." days.

What I want to know is - who is breaking into my house and using all my tape and laundry soap? How much tape can one family use??

:teeth:

Other than my fiscal irrresponsibility at Target - had a good day. Unfroze my membership at the gym, got all the stocking stuffers I need, bought myself a pair of $9 sock monkey slippers (they are so cute, I highly recommend them!), supervised a playdate that didn't involve any bloodletting and Madeleine is currently pretending to nap.

OMG - the playdate can read. She just turned 6 and she easily read the entire instruction pamplet to a game she'd never played before. At least my child refrained from picking her nose and/or her crotch for the *entire* playdate. :thumbsup2

J&D - the first challenge is up! How cool is that! Go TEAMS! :cheer2:

Z - I had the same thing happen with my car! AAA came out twice and the second guy realized the connector was loose.

FF- Comcast seems to be rather unpopular in my area - I think it goes "down" a lot, but I'm not sure why. :confused3

Lissa - Madeleine is so much better than Kailey because even if she wakes up at night, she eats and then goes back to sleep. Kailey would wake up and then fuss and cry (I think because she had reflux so bad - our whole apt. smelled like baby puke) for an hour - and then I couldn't go back to sleep. Ugh! So I'm hoping your second is the same. And . . . I bet that meeting tomorrow goes better than you expect. Clearly that mom is insecure about herself, or her son, or both, or she wouldn't be kicking up such a fuss.

Re eating- Kailey (because of the reflux) had weird texture issues for the first 4 years - so anything that wouldn't go down easily was gagged on and rejected. I know so many kids that had this, or other (weirder) food issues - and some of them are incredibly smart, the rest are in the middle of the rat pack. Unless they really truly don't eat (and don't get vitamins), I think they all end up being okay.

Kim - wow, I'm hoping tomorrow night goes okay for you.

GLT - good luck on that van. Although, wouldn't you have laughed at me if I said that to you in high school? 3 kids plus friends = a lot of seats! Seriously, I hope it works out for you. And don't back up too quickly. :teeth:

I'm going to post here and probably amend later. The green is hurting my eyes. :3dglasses And my husband's step-grandmother had a biopsy (for breast cancer), so I really need to send her a card.

:p

Uh, yeah! Whoa!

Uh, yeah! Whoa!

I'm a Rumor cheerleader (I only put in my sig the food group that sent me the logo via pm - because I'm *that* lazy :teeth: ) and - I divulged all kinds of information - hope it's for the public good! :thumbsup2

Nucpharm - Happy Birthday Emma!! I know you already celebrated, but I hope she enjoyed her day. Great pictures too, your kids are adorable (and your niece too!). Matthew is so expressive in his poses, he's really grown up so fast in the past few months.

NYPrincess - Happy 1st Birthday to your son! I bet you can't believe he's already a year old.

Alice28 - Keep an eye out for AP rates cause it might be worth it for 1 of you to get an AP to get a discount on your room. Not that you can't think of this on your own, but go to the Codes and Rates board and subscribe to the "waiting for March codes" or whatever thread and then when they're released see if it will help you out. They "should" have AP rates then cause we went last year in March (17-23rd or around there) and got an AP rate at the CR. Granted this is for value season, but woods view is $180/night and courtyard w/ bunkbeds is $242 with the AP rate and rack rate is $270/night woods view and $332/night for c-yard w/ bunks. (Sorry for the weird room choices, but they didn't have standard view listed for either AP or rack on the dates I put in.) So you'd have to skip the dining plan I think, but you'd save a lot on the room so that would make up for it.

Lissawynn - I hope you have an easy baby, ie good sleeper, this time around too! Henry is absolutely nothing like Madison when it comes to sleep so I never expected to get as much sleep as I do and I am thrilled cause I was thinking I had another 2 years of constant night wakings. Good luck with that meeting with the crazy mom and your principal. Some people are just so insane. :sad2:

Fabumouse - Everytime I hear how Kailey was as a baby I am reminded of Madison. They could have been twins. I remember literally rocking Madison in our rocking chair all night long on many occasions cause she'd start screaming within 20 minutes of my stopping. I don't know how I survived the first 1.5 years of her life.

GLT - Though you know this on your own, it's terrible that your husband is already skipping out on time with your kids. At least they're young and don't realize it yet, but wow would that be rough to hear him say he's coming and then he never does. They're really lucky to have a great mom like you! :grouphug: Enjoy your time with your brother and the babysitting help and I hope the van works out for you.

DisKim - I hope the parent conferences aren't too bad. We had them in my high school but my mom rarely went, cause I was such a good kid! ;) And I agree that the post office brings out the devil in kids. I had to go there last week and Madison was running around like a nut, Henry was screaming, and people were glaring at me while I was trying to box up my package while holding a wobbly 3 month old in one arm and grabbing at anything I could reach on the 2yo to keep her nearby.

Jill - We took Madison to see Santa in WDW her 1st Christmas instead of one of the malls here. This year we went to Pentagon City (Fashion Square or whatever) cause they were giving out the Gymbo coupons and it was empty. Granted it was the night before Thanksgiving, freezing, raining, and windy, but no line! :thumbsup2

Gems - Glad to hear that you're okay and nothing's wrong with your liver. Congrats on your upcoming maternity leave too-I bet you're thrilled to leave that place after the warm welcome you got with this pregnancy.

I know I missed a ton of people but I'm so tired and have to get to bed. I've been so busy the past 2 days and not really for any good reason either-just random Christmas stuff, Madison had a playdate, and then I had to do the photos for our Christmas cards that are finally done. Well, done as in the pictures are taken and assembled on my computer, but I have to buy paper to print them out cause I realized tonight that I'm out of photo paper. Taking the pictures was enough of an ordeal though so I should consider that to be quite an accomplishment. Night everyone and hopefully I'll get more time to catch up tomorrow.

Does anyone have the link to the challenge? I'd love to read it....

Justhat - Thank you for the Mommy compliments!

fabumouse - wow, a 6-year old can read that well? Amazing!! Glad you survived Target. Amazing how that stuff can add up!! Glad the playdate went well. I had three kids over here with my kids today and aside from Leif getting bit once, it all went well

lissawynn - how's the house reconstruction going? Still going to be done by Christmas?

OK, chat more later!

You gals are wonderful!!! :grouphug:

We used to live 2 blocks "up" from that mall on Arlington Ridge Road. It was a weird place to live (there were helicopters going into the Pentagon that would fly RIGHT OVER our building - we always thought there was a war going on )(before there was - )

I loved the Atrium there - probably because we were poor, and it was a lovely place to have a beer and take in the excitement. :groom:

And because I have a sickness that could not leave the Christmas card till tomorrow, I stayed up to finish it so I figured I'd post a picture of it. It's kinda grainy cause I had trouble converting it from my scrapbook program to a jpg and then uploading it.
ebbd6d7b.jpg

Fabumouse - I used to like that mall a lot too. Then they started to charge for parking at all times of the day and weekends. Now I prefer to drive to Tysons cause parking is free. Of course, the gas I spend to get out there....

Justhat - that card is AMAZING!!!!! I wish our holiday cards looked so professional. They're beautiful! :thumbsup2

OK, need to go to bed, but needed to pop in and say hi!

GLT- lovely that he's already skipping on visits with the kids. No big surprise I guess. And he wants them half the time. Yeah, right.

Hope the van situation works out! Glad your bro is there!

Fab- I could spend money standing naked in my cold, dirty basement, so there! :rotfl: Seriously, Target is that kind of store, isn't it?

Justhat- GORGEOUS CARD! I love it! Very crafty and cute.

Tamie- glad you got your project done! And yay for phone service!

Thanks for the info on the AP rates. At this point I'm just not worried about it; my mom says she doesn't mind spending the money, so I'm letting it go at that. DH says we should spend the extra on our own for the bunkbed rooms. We'll see.

Hi GM! Hi Kim! Hi FF!

OK- I just have to rant for 3 minutes, and then I'm off to bed. Tonight was Coldwater Creek night. Robin time. Alone time. Quiet time. I'm not on the
F^$#*%$ road for 10 minutes and my cell phone rings. Molly SCREAMING in the backgroud, DH telling me he cannot calm her down and to please 'hurry.' I was like, "I'm not turning around and coming home this second. I'm at least going to go and fill out the entry form for the gift cards, and grab a bite to eat." So I race to the store, luckily found a good parking spot, run in, fill out my form, book appointments for my MIL and I for the week after Christmas, fastwalk over to the clothing store, grab the last turkey roll up, look longingly at the wine, and high tail it out of there. Such beautiful clothes too, and I had a darn 30% off coupon....and we have a company party to go to, so I could actually use a new blouse or sweater. Call home, she's still FREAKING out, I suggest he bring the kitties inside to entertain her. I get home and she's laughing and smiling. He felt like such a loser jerk. I was glad. And then he wanted to apologize 20 times for it and I was just like, "Can you just be quiet about it? You're making me mad by constantly bringing it up!" Then he kept looking over my shoulder while I Was trying to do WPASADI research, the kids were running around SCREAMING, and I just needed 10 minutes of quiet time. So we put the kids to be and I point blank told him, "I need to be alone."

Men.

I've been doing WPASADI stuff all night, and my brain is officially fried! What have I gotten myself into? :scared1: Robin & Ginamarie- Are you feeling the same way? And Tim said that the first challenge was going to be easy. :confused3

GLT- I don't think the challenge is posted on the regular DIS boards. The audience thread tells you a little about it. I'm not sure how much I can discuss it here.
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1285305

I'm actually kind of having a good time with it. So far. I thrive on stuff like this. That's why I'm still up. My brain is buzzing with ideas. :rolleyes1 I need to go to bed though...

I'm just worried about getting it done by Sun. I thought I read somewhere that we would have at least a week to complete each challenge.

GLT - Good luck on getting the van!

Fab - You had me cracking up. Of course you can spend money standing naked in the bathroom.....catalogs! I'm feeling the same way. I'm probably the worst spender on this thread. It's embarassing. I'm very much an impulse buyer. My mom is that way and it transferred to me. BTW, my mom never has money and I have to go deposit money from my account into hers today, so, as you can see, she's not the best role model when it comes to spending. I can relate to the other kid reading. One of my best friends has a kid that the rest of us have labeled "the wonderkid". He is a year younger than my son and reading, etc. I'm glad Kailey was able to get through the playdate with no picking :teeth: !

Well, my students have a half day today so we can work on curriculum. I get to be stuck in a room with people that I mostly dislike and have all my ideas swept under the rug anyway. We have "superteacher" in our department. You know the one....she has no kids (never will), has a PhD, has won every best teacher award that there is to be had. Her word is gospel in our department so I don't know why I bother to show up. At least I respect her and I know she has the kids' best interest at heart and not her own. However, sometimes our teaching philosophies digress. Oh well, at least we're ordering pizza today :thumbsup2 . That's always exciting in my little world.

Gotta go.... :moped:

Have any of you Moms from around th world heard of St. Nick night?????

Well, apparently they celebrate this thing around here called St. Nick night when Santa's helper comes (last night) and "checks" to see if kids are good and brings a gift, candy, fruit and stuffs stockings/ or shoes. I swore I'd never celebrate a holiday I never heard of before.

Low and behold dd comes home from school, "Mom, tonight St. Nick comes."

Who told you that I ask.

My teacher????!!!! WHAT? Now I HAVE to celebrate this bizarre holiday.

I gathered some candy from our candy bucket andput it in their shoes, wrapped the CARS dvd (THAnKS DIS MOM!!!) and had a Jo's Jo's circus cd, and the Target $1 fork set for Leif.

DD wakes up around 5:40 a.m. and starts shouting -- St. Nick came mom, St. Nick came.

shhhhhh! Says me. Shhhhhh. She ran in and woke dbro and girlfriend (tho they are back to sleep, lucky them!). Leif is eating a Tootsie Roll and the other two each already had a piece of candy. Who's idea was it to celebrate a holiday in the middle of the week?

Any who - just curious as to if this is celebrated anywhere else.....

Robin - sorry your evening out was a bust, I'd be ticked off!

J&D - I started browsing the audience thread last night, looking for my name, but didin't spot it. I did register to be an audience member, but don't know what happened? :confused3 I'll have to look further on the thread to find out about the challenge, thanks!

DisKim - enjoy not dealing with kids and eating your pizza!

justhat - your creative talents astound me! The card is GREAT. I was just saying last night I HAVE to get the kids to sit together so that I can take a picture for a card and get it out!!

Fabumouse - I hope today is a great day for you! Any big plans?

Val - hope the holiday season isn't too stressful for you at work.

Cabmom - I hope you are having an nice holiday season.

Ryan - Hi! hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

Jill - have a good day at school today.

Disneyphd - Miss seeing you around, hope all is well!

Lissawynn- hope work on your house is coming along well!

icebrat - Are you feeling better?

dizagain - what's happening with the move?

nucpharm - You babysitting today? Have you offficially started doing the Walgreens thing? I remember you had training. Are you official now?

Zalansky - how are things down south?

FF - have a wonderful day!

Gems - How are you doing? I didn't see your post, but saw one that said the itchy isn't your liver? That's good. I hope you feel better soon.

Tamie - Have a great day! :wave2:

Bellacam - hope life with a newborn is going well.

Bnb - Have a great day today.

GM - Getting all your work done?

Okay, I know I'm miss some of you, sorry! I hope all is well with all the DIS moms. Have a wonderful day, may your weeks get better! :wizard:

I had some problems with the DIS yesterday - I could read, but couldn't post. If you are reading this message, things are fine now.

My office is having a Christmas lunch with a Secret Santa exchange and we're supposed to be picking our names this week. I know I'm going to get Annoying Coworker. That's how things work for me. If not, she'll get me and address the gift to Francine or something instead of Jennifer.

WPASADI ladies - Good luck!!! I still have no idea what a cheerleader does besides help out when asked, but I'm cheering you all on!

justhat - Your Christmas card is fantastic! I just had Target do mine again this year.

alice28 - Sorry your "me" time was a bust. I hope you win the GC.

fabumouse - :lmao: You crack me up every time.

llij - I meant to tell you...I love your new family picture.

zalansky - Glad your car trouble was nothing serious.

glt - What a shame your DH can't manage to keep his word and see his kids. :guilty:

floridafam - I'll let you know if I run across any Teletubby toys. My usual day for running around is Thursday so I'll check then.

DisKim - Enjoy your pizza.

lissawynn - Keep us updated on the situation with that parent. She sounds like a royal pain.

Hi to all the other moms!

I just have a few minutes until my next class arrives, but I wanted to let you all know how my principal's meeting went with crazy mom. She looked at her son's answer sheet and said something like there were a lot of blank spaces. Yeah. Then she asked where the questions came from for the test. The principal showed her the stack of papers (last year's competition questions). She then proceeded to tell my principal that I hate children and shouldn't be a teacher. My principal disagreed with her. Her answer was "you have to say that". My P. told her, no, she didn't have to say that. Anyway, things went on for a few more minutes and crazy mom told the principal she was going to "spread the word" about me being a children hater, etc. My P. told her to be very careful about slandering one of her teachers b/c there would be a serious problem if she were to do that. Again crazy mom told the principal she had to say that.

What can I say, she's nuts.

I need to ask all of you a question about something that's been stirring in my brain. This woman sent those hateful emails from her work computer during work time. DO you think it should be brought to her supervisor's attention that she is making threats and harrassing a teacher while she is supposed to be working?

GLT--I had to laugh when I read your comment about St. Nick's day. As you know Emma was born on Dec. 5th. Right after I delivered the OB says well, now you'll have to get presents for her bday and St. Nicks Day. I said "you mean Christmas". He said "no, st. Nicks day, the 6th of December." DH and I looked at each other like he had lost his marbles! But, apparently it's a scandinavian Christmas tradition--hence the reason Wisconsin celebrates it. A girl I used to work with was from NC and she said her daughter came home from school on the 6th of December in tears. When her mom asked her why she told her that she must have been a bad girl b/c St. Nick didn't come visit. When you become a resident of Wisconsin there should be some sort of booklet that you get that explains the whole deal, so we don't scar our children for life! :rotfl: Hope the van works out--and really use your bro and his gf, so you can get a little break! :grouphug:

justhat--WOW on the xmas card! I'm SO original with ours-hehe, ordered them from Walmart!

alice--Ugh on men! can't they stand a little crying once in a while--heck, they're his kids too right? I hope you had some fun while you were out

lissawyn--wow that mom is really crazy! At least your principal back you up! What does she think you did to her poor child--come on!

francine-oh I mean SL-- :rotfl2: Here's hoping that you don't get annoying co-worker in the exchange--unless it's a white elephant gift, then you could get her something really bad--I saw on the budget board instructions on how to make slippers out of maxi pads! Too funny!

Well, I had the genius moment last night. I decided that I needed to do a long run this week, and since DH was at work and the kids were in bed--that I would just hop on the treadmill. Yeah, nice in theory--so I ended up run/walking 12 miles--ended about 10pm. So this morning, I am a total -itch! Tired, sore, and more tired! My poor kids! Hopefully, my pleasant side will appear soon--note to self, don't do that again! Will chat later!

Hi Everyone!!!! Wow - I finally caught up on my reading this morning - y'all have been busy. Yay! I can say "y'all" again without sounding like a freak - it's nice to be southern again!!! Things were crazy here yesterday - Carson screamed for like 5 hours which is totally not like him at all - I didn't know what to do. It wouldn't surprise me if he had leg aches. The child is not 4 months old yet and he will not sit down. If someone is holding him, he stands up constantly. Meaning he does the "stiff as a board" thing with his body and hurls himself up. Anyway I was totally stressed yesterday to the point where I couldn't do anything at all because I was so overwhelmed by the house...I literally froze. I was wigging out when DH got home about 10 last night - I am not being a very good "trooper" right now and I need to snap out of it. I feel better today so hopefully I can get something accomplished. I think I'm just used to having all of my ducks in a row and right now I feel like I'm barely hanging on to a treadmill!

Hayley's school musical is this weekend and she's got a terrible cold. Pair that with staying at school to practice until 6:30 every night and she's a mess. Luckily she's having so much fun she isn't complaining. My mom is coming in late Friday to see the show. On Sunday we're taking the girls downtown to AG Place so they can pick out some stuff for a Christmas gift from her. They will really enjoy that and it's most likely their last visit there so they're excited to go.

justhat - awesome card - so crafty! I just go to Walgreen's and pick a photo and bam! I'm done. Of course I haven't taken said photo yet so I need to get moving.

glt - sorry your DH is not keeping up with the kids. I do know several families who have been through this and in all of them the DH sort of kept his distance from the kids at first but settled into a nice routine eventually. I even know one who didn't call or visit for 4 months and then returned to be a good dad. :grouphug: That St. Nick's Day thing is crazy - can't believe the teacher told them that! In my K classes we always studied celebrations around the world. We did do St. Nick's Day but we did it AT SCHOOL and I never told them he was coming to their houses and we never had a problem. They would put their shoes in the hallway during nap or story time and another teacher would handle things for me.

lissawynn - glad your principal is on your side and standing up for you! What a crazy lady! It sounds like your house is really coming along!

sl - have fun with the Christmas exchange! I always get stuck with the person noone wants - I'm so unlucky. The one year I ended up with something awesome I felt so bad because I took it from my good friend. It was a Santa purse and I couldn't even enjoy it - I had DH sneak over and leave it on her porch. Turns out the person who gave it also felt bad and got her one too so I ended up getting to keep it!

diskim - sounds like pizza will be the highlight of your day! Hope you make it through the meeting!

robin - sorry your CC night was a bust. My DH sometimes wigs out too. I'm worried as he will have him Saturday night while I go to the play and also all day Sunday when we go downtown...should be interesting!

fab - I also went overboard yesterday at Target! I keep adding to the stash for the girls and have yet to shop for others. I'm totally awful. I got some pj's for myself but maybe I need those monkey socks!

Ok, someone just woke up in his car seat so I need to go. I'll try to get back! Hi to everyone and have an awesome day!! :)
