Exciting stuff going on here at work (said sarcastically). My supervisor just threw a fit and stormed out of the building, saying she's not coming back. Then she came back. I can't wait to leave in 15 minutes!

justhat - Great trip report so far!

dizagain - Good for Carson sleeping last night!

lissawynn - Hope the rain doesn't get inside. They need to put that roof on ASAP!

glt - Have fun at the playdate.

BnB - Hope the cleaning service didn't wake the little ones.

Alice28 - Glad you were able to move your dates around. Good deal on the airfare! Now I'm really wondering what your Christmas gift will be...

ginamarie - Good luck shopping for bridesmaids dresses. I hope they aren't too hideous.

nucpharm - I hate the pill too but I'm taking it until I get PG again. I'm hoping it'll halt my endometriosis.

The Coach bag I'm getting for Christmas was delivered so I'm going to stop home to bring it inside before it gets ruined in the rain or someone takes it. I wonder if I can get DH to let me have it before Christmas.

nucpharm and lissa,

I hated my pills, too. I was on Yasmin and it was the most awful thing I have ever put into my body.

lissawynn,

Maybe you should join the Essure club Robin and I started. It was so much better than getting a tubal.

My house is a mess so I'm off to clean it. :wave2:

Well, the freakin' roof leaked all over our sofa that can't get wet. To top that off, someone left our outside basement door open and there's water all over the floor in the basement. I don't think there are words to describe how pi$$ed off I am. I called our insurance agent to see of the damage to the furniture is covered by our homeowners policy.

Now I have nowhere to sleep b/c the sofa was doubling as my bed.

These are the days when I could SO use a drink.

With some minor hassles we made it through our a.m. and through our play date and I'm attempting to DIS, but the kids keep interupting  Don't they know I want to socialize :goodvibes

lissawynn - ugh!!! Wow, it really is stressful to get a house remodeled while you are living in it. I always figured I'd just expand and never thought about how tough it would be. Sorry about the couch, I would be MAD too!!

FF - hope you got some cleaning done

Robin - exciting to know you get a cool Christmas gift AND DVC next year!

SL - wow, what behaviour from your boss, way to be mature :smokin: :cheer2: yeah about the coach bag! Your post about "ta da" made me smile.

nucpharm - what a fancy turkey dinner you are making!!

dizagain - I'm glad Carson slept so well! Funny about Hannah and the crutches.

justhat - I hope Henry feels better soon! Madison and Henry are getting so big! Thank you for shairng the pics!! Wow, amazing Chip remembered all that detail, that's amazing.

joats - I hope you are feeling better. Very funny about a drink in every country! Only when in college ;) Thanks for the sig pic compliment!

diskim - I can relate with Aidan getting into the sibling fight mix, Leif will actually tackle dd and ds!

more later

The rain has finally stopped. We had some water in the upstairs, but the ceiling in our living room has stopped leaking. I am so frustrated about our sofa. The fabric is like denim, but it's a khaki color. For whatever reason the fabric can't get wet. When it does get wet, it leaves a dark water mark around the place where it was wet and the fabric fades.

The contractor tried to get here to help DH, but the roads were washed out. This weather was terrible. I don't even know how many inches of rain we got.

I think Jimmy is going to sleep at my sister's house. Our chimney is covered and DH is worried about carbon monoxide. I'll be sleeping here with the heat off. I'm not leaving the dog and cats here.

I really can't wait until this is done. The contractor told DH we should be done about two weeks before Christmas. Maybe the would be my Christmas miracle.

Thanks for letting me rant and rave. I'm exhausted. Today has been one of those days.

lissawynn- oh-----noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!  I am so sorry about the water all over your house- what are you going to do about sleeping tonight? I wish I could offer you a small cocktail....I know I had one or two drinks with each pregnancy.

And I recommend the Essure too, although I hear getting a tubal while you are still in the hospital after a birth is a fairly easy route to go, as the uterus is still expanded out.

Hi GLT- glad you were able to get all of your appointments made.

SL- Real mature behavior from your manager. Hope your Coach bag stayed nice and dry.

nucpharm- I don't blame you for not wanting to buy $17 chesnuts. I keep dreaming of that pumpkin pecan bread with the pumpkin butter though....but $19 total for a loaf of bread with the spread???? This tightwad just can't do it.

GM- I have seen a few pics of you, and your are nowhere NEAR what I would call 'fat' or stumpy! Stop it! I was in a wedding when my oldest was 5 months- talk about feeling fat! Although I looked OK looking back at the pictures....But two of her bridesmaids were literally models, and my friend is about 5'2 or 3 and at the time was a size 2. I am almost 5'10" and at the time was a 16 or so. It was laughable, me up there with her (I was the Matron of Honor).

I am waiting for my mom to get here, as I do have a 4:30 appt about my eye. Thank goodness she could come- I really didn't want to bring all 3 kids with me.

Sam brought his report card home----I told you gals he still struggles with reading, and that's what his report card says. :sad2: Even worse is his writing legibility, but his teacher gave him ++ marks for effort- she realized it's hard for him. I sat and listened to him read- he is lightyears better than a year or so ago, but not where he needs to be I guess. He isn't in the special reading program this year (Title 1)- his teacher said he tested too high for it, which is good. I just really need to make sure he is reading out loud to me 15-20 minutes a day, and that we come up with some writing projects. Sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......I struggle with this immensely, because I was a really good student. It's hard for me not to harp on him. He does do above average with the math, social studies and with personal discipline areas, so that was really great. DH tells me all the time how his writing has always been crummy, and it's just more of a boy thing. But DS's is pretty bad sometimes.... :guilty:

Joshua brought his home 2 days ago, and he was fine on everything. What a difference that year of preschool makes. Sam didn't go to preschool, as he was at daycare, and the hours didn't work for me to put him in both. It's one of my only regrets as a parent, as I think it really jumpstarted Josh for Kinder. Then again, being the younger sibling, he watches and parrots a lot of what his brother does. And Joshua has the biggest head, ever.....I know that kid has some serious brain matter. :rotfl:

Evenin' ladies. I'm not feeling so hot so this is just a quick post to say hello to you all

AND

Loretta: I'm glad you got the package and that you enjoyed all the stuff. I was hoping that Cam didn't have that Gymbo dress already - if so feel free to return it (receipt in the box) and get something else. I just thought it was too cute. It was fun shopping for a little girl and getting to buy a dress!!! Glad Connor enjoyed his stuff too! Hope the Brownies will still taste moist and fresh. I'm glad it could bring a smile - you need it and deserve it. I've been thinking about you and what you are going thru.
:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

I've been up since 3am as I couldn't stop coughing all night, so I'm off to take some of Jace's cough stuff and go to bed. Isn't it sad I'm always taking Jace's medicine? You'd think I'd get some for myself sometime.

Hope to be back again soon so I can respond to you all as there is so much going on for everyone today. Have a good night all.
:)

Good evening ladies! :wave2:

I’m going to attempt to catch up as best as I can. My exchange gift has been bought, I just need to wrap it and ship it off tomorrow. Sorry that it is late!

Well after spending a few days on my research paper, I decided to chuck it out and start over again. I picked a whole new topic and got it approved by my professor this afternoon. I’m crazy, yes, but I just wasn’t comfortable with my initial topic so I’m going a whole new direction. I’m calling it a night study wise and will begin again tomorrow. I can’t wait until this semester is over. I feel like such an awful mom for studying all the time. :guilty:

Zalansky – I just wanted to let you know that I am still thinking of you and sending prayers your way for you and your father. I’m sorry to hear that his tumor is inoperable. Continue to keep us posted. We're all here for you. :grouphug:

Joats – Feel better soon! :grouphug:

Lissawynn – I’m so sorry to hear about your house. I hope that it gets finished soon. :grouphug:

SL – Your supervisor sounds ‘um’ interesting. Why did she throw a fit? I'm glad that your class worked out for you and you don't need to drive an hour away to attend that other class.

Justhat – Welcome back!!! I love all of your pictures especially the ones with Nick in them! Post more! We love seeing them.

Ginamarie – I hope that you are back to your old self in a jiffy. How awful to get the stomach bug! Oh, and I’ve seen pictures of you. You look great!!! :thumbsup2

Robin – Hang in there with Sam. :grouphug: I feel your pain. Katie is struggling a little bit with school this year after doing so well last year. Of course, I am feeling major mom guilt b/c I have been so busy. Here I am trying to become a teacher and I can’t even help my own daughter. Her handwriting is a mess and she is struggling with math. Her teacher and I are on the same page which is great. Katie just doesn't seem to care at times and that worries me.

Bellacam – Hang in there! Not too much longer and you will have another little one!

J&D – I need to pm you about the Secret Santa exchange. I hope it isn’t too late to sign up. BTW, I was thinking of you the other night when I did my last science demonstration.

Kim – How is your son doing? I’m sorry to hear that he got bitten on the bus!

Hillbeans – How did the Christmas photo go the other day?

Gems – How are you doing?

GLT – I hope that today wasn’t too hectic for you!

Dizagain – I missed a post somewhere. What happened to your dh? Is he ok?

Nucpharm – I hope that Emma is feeling ok!

Tasha – How are your classes going? You are almost done!

Hi to Val, Floridafam, BNBmom, fabumouse, Tamie (I hope you are having a great trip!), Cabmom, Gretchen, Ryan840, and everyone! :wave2:

I'm not sure when I will be back on again. Hopefully sometime this weekend or at least after I have put a major dent in my paper. I'll be thinking of you guys!

Lissawynn I'm so sorry that your roof leaked. I'm sure that's just what you want to deal with right before the holidays, especially being pregnant. I hope you can salvage the sofa.

Alice28 - I hope Sam improves with the reading aloud. I used to tutor kids his age in college and we did lots of reading aloud with them and it seemed to help. Our kids were way more behind that Sam could ever be so I can't really help with the writing activities cause all the ones we did were for really remedial kids and he'd be bored with them I'm sure.

Oh, and I'm not DVC, but we still have our info book that our rep gave us in March (cause we keep thinking about buying into it but just can't make the leap right now) and Madison was reading it today so I looked up DLP points for you. So right about needing tons of points-for June (I think you said you'll go in June) it was 50 or 57 points/night for the cheapest resort they had listed. The Sequoia Lodge I think. I know that they have more than the 4 resorts listed in my book though so maybe there are some requiring less points. Of course, if you go during the part of June requiring just 50 points/night and stay 3 nights then I guess you'd be okay with points.

Nucpharm - The hair thing with Madison actually washed out easily and wasn't the huge tangley mess I was envisioning so I'd definitely do it with Emma. We let her keep it in the whole time we were at Vero and it looked decent even on the last day.

Jill - Good luck with the paper. I have done that often, just started over with a new topic. I always thought that was just me cause I'm indecisive about stupid things. Don't beat yourself up over Katie's school performance. Even though you may have less time to help her right now, overall you're doing a service for your family and she'll appreciate that as she gets older. BTW, we met some people from Fairfax on a bus to MGM last week. The woman told me she delivered at INOVA Fairfax and her son was also a 36 weeker.

And thanks to everyone for the comments on the photos. I love to see everyone's pictures too but my husband swears no one else is like me and I'm boring everyone. So it's nice to know I'm not. The above mentioned Fairfax woman told me her husband always tells her not to share her birth stories cause no one cares and she tells him women are interested in those things. So I guess the same applies to pictures. BTW, the woman's kids were 9 and 11 so not like the births were recent events or anything, but still interesting to me.

Dizagain - Please tell me how I can get Henry to go to bed late enough to sleep the hours Carson did! I know he sleeps well so I shouldn't complain, but Carson's schedule is more compatible with mine that Henry's. I want to move him out of the cosleeper and into his bed but I was hoping he'd drop the 1am feeding first.

I'm going to wrap the stuff for my exchange now. I will hopefully mail it out tomorrow but I couldn't get to the store I wanted to today cause of the torrential rains we had here so I'll be doing that tomorrow morning then shipping it out.

Hi Everyone,

It feels as if i'm running around in circles these last few days - PHEW! I am actually looking forward to going out to my MIL's house next week and vegging out for a few days! I finally wrapped my exchange gifts and it is guaranteed to go out in the mail tomorrow.

The Christmas pictures didn't go well. The kids looked cute in their semi-matching outfits, but Liam wouldn't pose at all, and Kevin is in this phase where he's smiling but looks like he's in pain. I can't get him to make a normal smile for a picture anymore - he either has this pained look on his face or his eyes are squinted or closed. I decided on one picture out of the maybe 30 the woman took.

Nucpharm - Your photo experience sounded a lot like mine. Congrats on Matthew taking his first steps though. :Pinkbounc :wizard:  I honestly don't know why I put myself through it but I just love having pictures of the kids. I think i'm going to wait until next summer or fall to even attempt another shot at professional photos.

Loretta - I'm really sorry to hear about your father. I remember how rough it was on myself, and my father, brother, and the rest of the family when my mom was sick with cancer. It's heartbreaking. You are in my thoughts :grouphug:

Lissawynn - That was some rainstorm which blew through here a few hours ago. Sorry to hear that your roof leaked - that stinks! :grouphug:

Joats - Hope you and Jace are both feeling better soon. :grouphug:

Wow Robin - That's great news about DVC - How exciting. Sorry to hear about your pink eye - I think I may have jinxed you!

SL - LOL about your co-worker who keeps asking who you are. I am terrible with names, but I at least try and make an effort to remember someone who i've met 5 times!

Justine - your pictures are just darling. I just LOVE the ones of Madison and her cute little sun hat (at the MGM Cars parade) and the one of Henry in the sling! Great pics from the CR also!!!!!! I can't believe how close you were to all of the action!

Bellacam - Glad you're still hanging in there!!!! We're thinking about you!

I hope Tamie is having fun in WDW!

Sorry so brief ladies - it's 10:30 and i'm falling asleep at the computer.

Goodnight!

Sorry to hear about all the rain you east-coasters are getting, is that the snow we got? :confused3

My exchange gift has been wrapped and has officially left my house (the grocery store has a post office) so I brought it there this evening. It will be enroute tomorrow a.m. I realized I did forget to pick something up for my buddy, but hopefully she'll forgive me...(clue?)

DD's speech therapy appt. went well. They said she is doing wonderfully and only has a couple more things to work on. They also said she is a model student :woohoo: and keeps the boys in her group from getting out of line, must be from being a big sister! :teeth: I felt so proud.

Hillbeans - sorry pics were a PITA, glad you got one that will work

Lissawynn - stay warm and safe, good luck tonight!

justhat - have a great night = that sling photo is adorable, could be photo contest worthy!

robin - how'd the dr. appt. go? We all know Josh has good penmenship, that image of your sofa is engraved on my mind forever :lmao: Good luck with Sam and his reading. I know it's hard to find time for those things when you have a bunch of other ones running around, but maybe Sam would enjoy reading to Josh in the kitchen while you prepare a meal? Just an idea. Good luck.

jill - glad you have been able to get started on your paper! Have a good rest of the week.

joats - I've taken the kids cough medicine before too  I hope you feel better and have a good night's rest!

zalansky - thinking of you!

J&D - hello

Val - hope all is well at work

SL - TGIF, hope you have a great day

cabmom, GM, dizagain, fabumouse, Tasha, Ryan840, bellacam (glad your appt. went well today!!) and all other DIS mommies, hav ea great night.

Hillbeans--I had to LOL reading your post about the photo session. It sounds just like mine. Emma wouldn't look at the camera to save her life. I was standing so she could see me above the photographer's head and told her to look at mommy--well, she was staring off into space 90% of the time--her face was toward me, but her eyes were darting off all over the place. We finally baited Matthew into the picture with goldfish! :rotfl: So in the pics he's either on his way out, or his hand is shoving food in his mouth. Why do we do this to ourselves????

Alice--DH was sooooooo excited when he saw that SW had released their fares today. He actually called me from work, which rarely happens! He's been on the computer all night trying to get the "perfect" flights. We're content to drive, but boy, flying would be so much nicer! And the best part is, that if we do fly SW we will probably have to add on a day to get the cheaper fare. Oh darn, I have to spend another day at WDW--Could it get any worse--Ha! :rotfl: ;)

I guess Emma isn't really sick after all. I'm not sure what her problem was, but she seems fine now.

I bought her "big" xmas present today. We are getting her a big girl 'Disney Princess bike with matching helmet and pads. :thumbsup2 I had it directly shipped to my MIL's house, so hopefully SFIL will assemble it for us--here's hoping! We have a couple smaller things left to get Emma and stocking stuffers--and then when we pick the photo for my parents (please, God , let there be a good one!!) I'll BE DONE--oh wait, I haven't shopped for DH yet, not sure we're even exchanging this year. We end up buying for everyone else, and then see how much money is left. Last year, not so much, so we'll see!

guess I should go--I folded my mountain of laundry during Grey's anatomy now time to put it away! Nighty, night!

Good morning! :surfweb:

It seems that Madeleine's 5am snack is hard for me to recover from. So here I am. Today I meet with Kailey's principal regarding her behavior at school. It's a particularly good time as yesterday after school she couldn't let it go that she had left a piece of artwork in her classroom and proceeded to whine and cry and generally throw a fit in front of her teacher (with him flapping his arms and saying "this is what I'm talking about!"). I was pretty calm and reassuring until she threw herself on a muddy embankment and rolled around in the dirt.

Last night I spent hours preparing for the rain that trashed Lissa's house - there were all these warnings that we were going to get a terrible storm so I moved everything out of the damp part of the storage cellar, got everything off of the basement floor that cannot get wet, ignored my children all evening "shhhh, I'm sorry you're hungry, but you're just going to have to suck it up for the team - and find the batteries for our 15 flashlights" - and . . . . it rained for an hour and stopped.

I had a few thoughts on exchanges this morning - I don't think I'm going to do the holiday exchange although it sounds like a lot of fun. However, I *was* thinking of two exchanges we might want to do in the New Year. 1) Crap You Got For Christmas but Didn't Want and 2) maybe a book exchange later in the year of 4 or 5 books you'd like to pass on?

On the Christmas stuff - every year I get things with no receipt that are absolutely fine, just not my style or taste or the giver gave me the same thing last year and I still have it. It might be entertaining if nothing else.

Loretta - I'm thinking of you. The colostomy bags are rough to get used to. My grandmother had one and there's an emotional adjustment period for the sight and (sometimes) smell of it.

nucpharm - you're so brave! Looking forward to the pics. Glad to hear Emma's feeling better. I bet she's going to love that bike.

Justhat - I'm heading to your TR as soon as I'm done here. Looking forward to it!

SL - I'm sorry, but that is really funny about your coworker. A very good friend of mine has a brother who does that to us - even AFTER we had Thanksgiving at his parents' house!! I just chalk it up to :smokin:

Dizagain - that is so sweet that your DD's enjoy looking at the Dis photos! Kailey often stops dead at my computer to comment on how cute all the babies & kids are on this thread :goodvibes

Lissa - I would be so impatient! We had our house painted last summer and because they were so slooooooooow, it took over a month to address all the problems and by then I just wanted them to pack up their paintbrushes and leave already! And UGH about the third child pressure! I think it's sort of like kids who say "I'm bored" - because my response is "I have chores for you". Catch my drift? I think men can be a little more dreamy about the children thing because they're not wiping poopy butts all day or hauling a screaming child off the slime-covered embankment.

If I got pregnant again, I don't think I would ever have any kind of life for myself. My body (and mind) just cannot go that route again without serious damage.

Robin - your poor husband, getting you all riled up about DVC! Don't those guys know that we dream BIG? ;) And hormones can really mess with favors. My MIL quit handing out favors at around 45. She was just done. My BFF's (two of them) are around that age and asking for favors. I would think the hormones and then I would think exhaustion.

How's the pinkeye???

Ginamarie - :lmao: I got quite the visual from that description.

SL - DH NEVER lets me have presents early!! He is so mean. He will say, if you want to take it, then fine - but then it isn't a present, and he'll totally steal my holiday thunder. Not that it always stops me. :rolleyes1

FF - hope you have a nice, clean house. I myself have a clean but *immensely* cluttered house and the Halloween boxes are still out, fighting for space with the growing Christmas gift pile.

Joats - this just isn't your happy time, is it? :guilty: I hope that your cough and itchies go away.

Jill - Mother is really "guilt" with a slightly different spelling. No matter what we do or how much time we spend with our children, we'll feel like we should have done something else (worked, not worked, gone to school, taken time for ourselves, or devoted our entire being to our little "blessings" ).
Good luck on that paper!

Hillbeans - LOL at Kevin's "looking like he's in pain"!! Kailey has done the same thing for years and it's hard for me to have patience with it. Either that or she gaps her mouth open in this really weird way like someone is about to stick a tongue depressor in her mouth.

Hi to all the other moms, I hope you're doing well. :wave2:

Hi all. We made it through the night without a hitch. We turned off the heat, and luckily, it was a warm night. The roof "should" be finished tomorrow.
I'm going to call a bunch of cleaners to see if they can clean my sofa, chair, and ottoman. I took the directions from the label so I know what I'm talking about.

I gotta run. TTYL!

Morning all. Like Fabumouse, I woke up this a.m. and couldn't get back to sleep, though now it's a little later. Leif actually slept thru the night :thumbsup2 and is still asleep, yet here I am awake

Lissa - glad you made it through the night okay. I Hope things dry out today, that you get to clean your sofa and that things move along quickly!

Fabumouse - Sorry to hear about dd's tantrums at school. That's gotta be tough. :wizard: good luck meeting with the principal today! How frustrating to move everything around and then, no rain....that kind of thing always happens, you know if you didn't move everything you'd have a flooded basement right now ;)

nucpharm - way to go on the Christmas shopping! How'd Walgreens go the other day? Did you get there, didn't you say your mom was gonna watch the kids? Did you get to add another day on your trip? I hope so!

Tasha, J&D, Jill, Robin, Loretta, Bellacam, Cabmom, Disneyphd, gretchen, diskim, GM, dizagain and all the DIS Mommies, I hope you have a great Friday!

Woke up with a bad headache from all that rain. I know I complain about headaches a lot. I've had sinus issues since I was a kid. I even had surgery a little over 5 years ago which didn't help.

My sister's birthday is tomorrow so we're having dinner out with friends tonight. One of my friends couldn't find a sitter so she begged me to take Lucas along so her DS would have company. I think it's going to be an early night. Tomorrow I have to go to a baby shower for another friend of mine who's just in town for Thanksgiving and Sunday is another dinner for my sister that my mom is cooking. Anyone have any weekend plans?

lissawynn - OMG!! I can't believe your sofa got ruined. I hope insurance can cover it and you found somewhere to sleep last night.

Alice28 - What did the dr say about the pinkeye?

joats - Hope you feel better today.

llij - Good luck with the research paper.

glt - Glad your DD's speech therapy is going so well! :thumbsup2

hillbeans - Sorry your pictures didn't go well. We're taking Lucas next Saturday (after T-giving). At least there's only one of him.

nucpharm - Glad Emma's not sick.

fabumouse - Good luck with the meeting.

Let's see how long it takes for the craziness to set in here at work today. My supervisor showed up this morning, bright and early. Maybe I should start a pool on how long she lasts before storming out.

Lissawynn- I’m so sorry about the rain situation!

Alice- I’m ok with my body, but standing next to those other girls just made me look ridiculous. Seriously, I should find one of the pictures and post it. It was comical. DH’s family is very different about food than my family is. They’re always dieting and complaining about their weight. I used to tease DH about his mom making one box of mac and cheese for a family of four. In my family we all love food, and we’re more comfortable with our bodies. It makes it hard for me to relate sometimes though.
Sorry about Sam’s reading troubles. Keep plugging away though. DSis was very hesitant to read and fell behind on her reading/writing the last couple of years in comparison to her class. Then, for some reason, she picked up this year. Her spelling has improved immensely and she’s finally happy to be reading books.

Jill- Good luck with the new term paper! I threw away my topic with my last term paper at the last minute too, and it worked out ok.

Hillbeans- Sorry the photo session didn’t go well. I went through two awful periods for taking photos.. once (when my teeth were falling out) I refused to open my lips at all. So we have all these photos where I look constipated instead of smiling. Then, after my sister was born I started posing with my mouth WIDE open, like I was saying “haaaaaaaaay.” Needless to say, we have some ridiculous family photos.

GLT- I’m pretty sure that this rain is the snow you guys got. The temperatures here have been really mild (in the 60s yesterday), but it was POURING.

Nucpharm- How nice that you got Emma a bike! I haven’t really done any Christmas shopping, and normally I have at least half of it done by now.

Fabs- Why do kids find it so enticing to roll around in mud?

I still didn’t make it to the post office, because of the awful rain and traffic yesterday, but I’m going today for sure! I had some bad things happen with my work situation this week, and made the heartbreaking decision that I have to go find a full time job. I’m going to work on my resume a little, and hope to find something to start in January.

I called a furniture cleaner and he told me that it would cost around $150 to have the furniture dry cleaned. He told me there is no guarantee that would take out the stains and water marks. It would cost $115 to have the furniture cleaned with a wet(water-based) solution. He also told me that they basically look at the fabric and spot test it to see what will do the best job. He said sometimes the directions on the furniture and what really works best are two different things.
I'm going to wait until the renovations are done before I have the stuff cleaned. I am almost certain the insurance company is going to tell us that the damage isn't covered by our policy. I'm not happy about the whole situation, but I'd rather have clean furniture than no furniture at all.
I'm not going to go nuts with the contractor about it. He really did the best he could, given the circumstances. Just the fact that he attempted to get back to the house last night says something. The roads were washed out all over the place here and we had flooding, too.

I have to go. The kids expect to be taught today ;) .

Hi all! Sorry about yesterday, Celeste hit a button mid-post, and it posted before I was done, then I couldn't get back here! This will likely be short--I ahve relatvies coming in from CT tonight, and then my MIL comes tomorrow to see, "Jocelyn Power as The Maid in 'The Secret Garden'" So, even though the house is clean, it's not going to be good enough for my MIL. After all, it was cleaned yesterday, not 5 minutes before she got here.

Robin--Try not to stress on the reading thing. What I do with beginning readers is, I read a page, then they read a page. And let them read anything, even if it's "below" their level--the point is for them to be enjoying reading. Of course, Seuss is always good--something about his lilting style and silly words makes even hesitant readers interested.

Hillary--Sorry about your photo session--I've had more bad ones than I can count, which is why this last one, I spent a fortune since it was halfway decent. I know how rare that is.

Alissa--Glad you made it through the night. I hope the couch can be cleaned (if nothing else, made all the same shade!). Yeah, I'm thinking a roof would be good about now! Good luck.

GLT--That's good news about your DD's speech therapy. I'm not surprised she likes keeping the boys in line--Jocelyn has the same "problem"! One day, Robert asked me when Jocelyn was going to stop telling him what to do. I said, "When she's dead!" Sereiously, my MIL is ahem! over 70, and still complains that her "little" brother doesn't take her advice!

I have to go, it's Luke's feeding time. If you don't hear from me by Monday, say a prayer--or take up a collection for my bail, because it likely means I killed my MIL!

Morning-

I made it to my doctor yesterday. She did some tests on my eye with different drops and such to make sure it wasn't scratched. Nope. Just stupid pink eye. So she prescribed me ointment, which is kind of gross, as it takes about a half hour to fully absorb into the eye- I keep having to blink as my vision is sort of blurry. But wow, after just two applications yesterday, I woke up this morning much, much better, so hopefully this will do the trick. Oh, and I got a tetanus booster- I forgot how much those suckers hurt! Not the shot, but feeling like you got punched afterwards.

We are having a quiet morning so far. I'm still in my PJs and Josh is still asleep! It's 9:30! I have to get ready soon, and get his buns up, as his bus comes in about an hour and 15 minutes!

SL- headaches are no fun....I'm sorry you have one again. Do you think you should take some sort of sinus meds daily, as a preventative thing?

lissa- I would wait til all is said and done to do your couch too...what if something else happens to it?

BNB- Hope things go OK with your MIL! And that Jocelyn has a great time in her play. DS loves to read Seuss books, Capt Underpants, some of the Magic Tree House books, Spongebob...I ordered him a whole ton of Nickelodean books for Christmas, so hopefully he will enjoy them. I was kind of surprised actually to see that score on his report card, because while he's not advanced, I thought he could read fairly well. The writing part, I could totally understand....from now on I am going to write a paragraph for him to copy. Yesterday I wrote about how we will see Fantasmic and eat Mickey bars in WDW. Trying to make it fun. :teeth:

I think part of the issue is his teacher is a first year 3rd grade teacher- she has taught K one year and PE one year. I have a few things I want to bring up to her at his conference on Monday. I don't appreciate getting a report card 3 months into the school year, telling me my kid is BELOW where he needs to be in two main areas, and I haven't heard a WORD about it before this. I would think if he were really struggling, she should have sent me a note, or called me.I also was not happy yesterday, as the kids always have their spelling tests on Friday. Sam always does really well on these- misses none, one or maybe two. Well, she didn't let us parents know the test would be on THURSDAY because there was a FIELD TRIP today! Again, I knew nothing about the frigging field trip, not to mention the spelling test. (And Sam missed 6 out of 8 words because we didn't have a chance to drill him). I realize Sam is a 3rd grader now, and is capable of telling me his test is early, but on the other hand, I swear the only letter she has sent home this year is to ask for help with the Halloween party. Last year his teacher sent home updates weekly. I was spoiled with her. :guilty: I don't want to be calling her weekly, asking her if there is anything we should know, so I am going to suggest to her to please have a way of communicating with us parents about changes in HW and test schedules, field trips, work problems. I mean, Sam gets a 'green' slip home every week congratulating him on completing all work and being a good student, so I thought everything was hunky dory.

OK, I'm done.

Fab- I hope the meeting with the principal goes OK. Sorry you went through all that trouble to get your furniture moved and then....nothing. It seems like a lot of the US is getting a deluge of rain!

nuc- Emma will be tickled with her new bike! I still have some shopping to do, but I need to wait til payday to do anymore.

Well, I need to get dressed and make some phone calls to WDW. I need to cancel the boy's pirate cruise, as we are now leaving that day, and move our Narcoossee's ressie around.
