The Official New Mom Thread Part 2

Bella- I would second the baking soda bath idea. I hope Aidan heals up. Diaper rash stinks! It’s good that your DH has the end of the week off. :)

Alice- This is why I try to stay away from the budget board. It just makes me spend more $$. Holy CARP it’s two weeks until Thanksgiving! I really need to get my butt in gear with our Thanksgiving menu and whatnot. I have to order a giant turkey to feed my whole family.

Zalansky- I warned you about that Peruvian doll stuff!

Tykes- only four days left before WDW? Wow, the last few weeks have flown by. By all means, share the itinerary. We’re all dis-nerds around here.

GLT- Sorry about the car. I’m impressed that you’re working out all this walking. I’d hardly leave the house if I lost my car. We’d be living off of whatever I could get from the bodega and the gas station up the block.

Lissawynn- I hope the Gap pants are comfy for you. I had a couple of maternity pairs from Old Navy that I lived in for work clothes. I couldn’t part with them after Olivia was born, so they’re in the attic until my next pregnancy.

Olivia loved going out shopping this afternoon. Of course Target was completely out of garden rakes. I was going to stop at Home Depot, but there was traffic and it was time for Livvie’s dinner, so we just came home. We picked up a copy of DISNEY PIXAR CARS (as DBro would say) and a bunch of babyfood, as well as a couple of items for my exchange person.

When I got home there was an email message from one of my friends. Her water broke this afternoon, and her DH was running around getting things ready while she stayed calm writing emails! I keep wondering if her little girl has arrived yet. She’s been so nervous because they hadn’t decided on a name.

My Christmas stockings are supposed to arrive in the mail tomorrow. Woohoo! OK, time to start working on my Thanksgiving menu and deciding what I’m going to make myself for dinner tonight.

Alice--2 WEEKS UNTIL THANKSGIVING!!!!!! Until you posted that I was thinking it was still weeks away--and I just agreed yesterday to host at our house this year--must've been smoking some serious crack! Now to make a menu and start the shopping! Just one more thing to add to my ever growing list of "to do's"

bellacam--I also like the A&D oinment--our dr. in Wisconsin gave us some samples of a product called Triple Paste that seemed to work wonders. We could only buy it at Walgreens, so that might be an option as well!

Okay, gotta get dinner on the table. bye!

Hey everyone! One of the major drags of this situation is that I cannot open multiple browsers (and I don't have a word processing program on the Mac) so I won't be able to effectively reply to you guys. The good news is - I took the tower to the computer guy today and he's coming tomorrow to set me back up, hopefully with wireless. The bad news is that he says it's NOT my 'net card, so he doesn't know what it is??

I do want to say - OMG, that litter box cake made me gag and laugh out loud! I love the big smear of poo on the side.

I'm so sorry so many of you are sick - I do hope the throwing up is over, Robin. =(

Ginamarie - too funny that you are so legally efficient! I usually received at least a few "go to hell" phone calls before people gave in.

I got my flu shot - Kailey's is next week. DH is saying yes, but in that voice that means "if I remember, which I won't unless you call me repeatedly until I get angry - and then I'll do it, but I won't like it".

GLT - no car??? I missed out on that discussion - that is a huge bummer!

Kim - that is way too late! I was not pleased about the pumpkin thing going until 7:30 and that was a one time event!

We did the Christmas spectacular last year and had a blast! I'm looking forward to going again in a few years.

Lissa - I got all anxious just looking at those photos of your house! I bet it will all be fabulous and worth it.

Baby fussing. Hopefully I'll be back in the groove tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Hi all! I've been really busy the past couple days--nothing exciting, just the usual stuff. DH did let me go out a lot this weekend--wild woman that I am, it was to Target, Wal-Mart and the grocery store, but still, it was alone time!

The weekend before Thanksgiving is Jocelyn's play! The good news is, we aren't hosting T-day, we'll be at BIL's house. I did offer to bring something, though. OTOH, play weekend we'll be inundated with out of town guests, including my sister and her DH and DMIL, as well as my MIL. At least I have to do play stuff and won't have to hang out and socialize. I don't mind seeing everyone but MIL. But, I'll make a turkey for that weekend--that way, everyone has something to eat here while I'm at the school doing hair and make-up and so forth.

Anyway, I'm sorry everyone's been sick--Robin, I hope you're on the upswing! I always like real Coke when my stomach's been upset.

GLT--That really bites about no car. And isn't it amazing how the same kids that have a ton of energy for whatever sport, act like it's the end of the world to walk a mile? I hope you get a car soon.

Tamie--I can't believe it's only a couple of days!!! And the Beach Club to boot! (Did I mention our DVC is in ROFR? 240 points at BCV, baby!). Make sure you walk over to the Boardwalk and have a funnel cake for us--the kiosk opens at 5 pm!

bellacam--I would try to give him a daily bath to help the rash. Even if he cries, it's good for the skin. I also use A&D. Good luck--you may want to try putting the ointment on the diaper rather than the bottom, just so you don't have to rub it in. I know all about the "tested" thing. With all I went through with Robert, I tell people that Celeste is my reward for getting through it. We had some serious issues with him--for several weeks, it was all I could do to get through the one day in front of me.

I have to go--Jocelyn is tired of babysitting Luke. And she's being really good since I bought her an MP3 player yesterday (the cheapy one from Wal-Mart, but her best friend has the identical model!) Hi to everyone I missed!

I was all set to vote for Emmitt on dancing with the stars until Joey said that him and his wife met and were married in WDW, he's a disney fan!! ;)

lissawynn - Here's hoping for no rain!!!

alice - Good price on turkey. I'll be in a mad rush to get ready for Thanksgiving when we get back from WDW.

ginamarie - Glad shopping went well. I hate when a store is out of what you need!

bnb - I had to laugh that you know what time the funnel cake kiosk opens! lol!

fab - I really hope they get your computer straightened out!

glt - That stinks that you still have no car! That's a lot of walking with the kids! Hang in there!

I voted twice for Emmitt and twice for Joey since I can't commit to one :)

DH took me out for some yummy mexican (good margarita) and we got a little ice cream after dinner too. I'm stuffed!

I need to get some comfy clothes on and plop down in front of the tv for nip /tuck.

night!

tamie

Hi, everyone!

My computer is finally working again!!!

Happy Birthday, Matthew! :cake:

I have almost 600 e-mails to read through, so I don't have time to catch up tonight. Anything major happen while I was gone???

I'll be back later tonight or tomorrow.

Have a wonderful Wednesday, everyone!

OK, you know you are feeling better from the stomach flu when all you want are some Cool Ranch Doritos. It's a good thing DH isn't home, or I would be squeeling the tires to get down to 7-11 for a bag! :rotfl2:

Tamie- I'm just settling in for some Dancing with the Stars. Hope it's good tonight! I like Joey and Emmitt too- Mario is a tad too polished or something, and I although his partner is a FABULOUS dancer, I do not like her pouty attitude.

J&D!!!!!!!! You're back! Glad your computer is fixed! Nothing too major has happened around here- no one new is pregnant and no babies have been born anyway!

BNB- glad you got some stuff done this weekend, alone. I could only handle sugared soda the last 36 hours....diet Cola sounds awful when I am sick and when I am pregnant. Regular Coke is like an elixer or something. I also LOLed that you knew the time the funnel cake kiosk opened at the Boardwalk! :rotfl:

OK, Dancing started! Woo!

For the record, I only knew the funnel cake kiosk time because I read it very recently--I've been boning up for our next trip--8/08, but it's never too soon, plus we'll be doing I think 9 days in a 2BR BCV. It will be a very different vacation for us--we've always gone on the 3 meal a day plan, so snacking was never an option. But we're already figuring that arrival day, we'll just hang at the Beach Club, maybe wander as far as the Boardwalk, where those funnel cakes are calling my name!

Okay, I'm an obsessive planner, but I have to do something between changing diapers and cleaning up cat yak!

Hi!

Z - Where were those little Minnie Mouses from on the Crocs that you posted the other day? Would they ship to the UK? Your crocs are the same colour as mine, I too don't wear them that much but they are great when you are at the pool and need pool shoes but not flip flops.

Well today I found out that I can get my C section! I rang the hospital and they have found my notes and the Dr. has written a letter to confirm that I can get booked in at my next appointmnet. I am very pleased and relieved to say the least! I just need to get a rough date now so that I can tell work when I am going to finish.

I am so pissed now too because my DH's parents have bought a house for his brother. I think I have said before that he is such a waste of space and is into drugs etc. And theres the issue that FIL and MIL have custody of his kid, oh BTW he has just got a 19 year old pregnant too (this will be his third by three diff girls, I can't call them women as none are out of their teens, he is 25 BTW). I can't believe that they have done this after the way that he treats them. DH and I are trying to start our business officially now and are looking at premises - we can't afford them and need to get a loan against our house to cover it, as we can't borrow from family as they say they can't afford it - yet they can afford to buy a house for a junkie serial impregnator! I am SO :furious: how come we work hard and provide for our kids etc and seem to be punished for it? Thanks for listening to my vent! I am going to lunch now and am going to eat something seriously fattening! :)

Good morning! :teeth:

GEMS - Congrats on getting closer to your c-section! I remember that feeling when they told me I could schedule mine. It felt almost like being a kid at Christmas! Here is a link to that Ebay sellers store that I got the Minnie Jibbitz:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Jibbitz-Set-Of-...37148384QQihZ011QQcategoryZ3003QQcmdZViewItem

J&D - welcome back! We've missed you!!!

Robin - glad you are feeling better.

BNB - you have me craving Funnel cakes first thing in the morning....MMMMM.

tkyes - I would have voted for Joey too if I heard he was a WDW fan and there for his honeymoon. Its the little personality traits that matter, right?

Fabu - good for you getting that flu shot. I need to get mine too, I usually don't but with DS in school and bringing home every germ known to man, I am getting one and so are the kids.

Ginamarie - Did your friend have her baby yet? How exciting!!!

Bellacam - for diaper rash we use Desitin or one of the white ointments...but we use it very generously. We also use regular A&D mrning and night to help prevent diaper rashes and it has always worked. Cam has only had one rash so far and that was because she was on anti-biotics. Good luck. Hope he feels better!

Lissa - hope it didn't rain by you last night. Or today!

FF - are you and your Dh feeling better today? I sure hope so!

I just have to say I am THRILLED that Britney Spears filed for divorce from K-Loser. I just read something online that said he was blindsided and had no idea she had filed. I hope that is true. He is so gross!!!

Well, I better go. Have a great day and hello to the moms I missed. :goodvibes

Oh Alissa - I hope you're not getting as much rain as we're getting today! Our whole backyard is full of puddles and it's raining buckets right now. I sure hope your roof is covered! :grouphug:

Weirdest thing just happened - the kids and I were playing in the downstairs computer room and I heard this loud glass "explosion"...looked all around the garage, mud room, laundry room, etc....then I come to the bathroom. The ceiling light fixture in our downstairs bathroom exploded and blew glass all over the place. Thank goodness none of the kids or myself were in there at the time. I did have the light on and have had that light on for hours in the past - never again! My days off are always very exciting!!! :)

Tamie - we'd love to hear your WDW itinerary......!!!!

Gottalovethem - Glad you're making the most out of the situation with your car - you poor thing. :grouphug:

Alice - My son loves those Doritos. I buy the 100 calorie bag ones for him and he enjoys them!

Gotta run, more later

Just saw a post on the birthday board! I didn't know until then....but

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TAMIE!!!!

:bday: :bday: :bday:

Yes, Happy Birthday to Tamie!

Gems- YAY that you get to do your csection. I know that is a big relief for you. And I hear you about your inlaws. While our situation is a bit different, as my BIL is learning disabled, I get frustrated sometimes at all the help he gets from my MIL, and yet when we need a little help, we get lectured. She's eased up since DH came back from Iraq, but for awhile there it was ridiculous, and even my DH, who rarely gets ruffled about 'fairness' got a little irritated with her. She is talking about buying him a house when the divorce is final from my SIL. I can hardly believe that, considering what housing costs in San Jose. I would more likely believe that she would tell one of her tenants she needs them to move, so he can move into one of her rental homes.

Hillary- thank god no one was in that bathroom! That could have been really bad! Strange that it exploded and the lightbulb just didn't die. I have to go to the store this morning and guess what is on my list? I don't think I've even had those kind of chips in ages!

Yes, Alisa, how is your home today? I hope you're dry!

Z- I'm not a huge or even moderate Britney fan, but thank god she left that slimeball. He just gave me the creeps and seemed to just mooch off of her bigtime.

BNB- I thought it was great you knew when the kiosk opened! Hey, I know that the funnel cakes are more money in Epcot than MK, so there is a glimpse of my Disney-Dorkdum.

Well, I have the pleasant task of vacuuming out our living room furniture. Too many crumbs are in there, and I don't want to find bugs in the house again. That happened 3 years ago and it was NASTY. Too many nights where we all gather on the couch and munch popcorn I guess.

Sorry - I have to do a drive-by posting. I'm insanely busy at work today (just today - there's a project due today and they always wait until the last minute to work on it). Hope everyone has a great day!

Tamie - Happy birthday! I also posted on your b-day thread up at the top of the CB!

Happy Birthday Tamie!! :cheer2:

I noticed today that Nordstrom has some kid's Crocs on sale. I don't know how good the price is.

Dh just stopped home and informed me he took the week after Thanksgiving and the week before Christmas off.  YAHOO! He had vacation time to use up. He can get paid for sick time he doesn't use but not for vacation time-it's use it or lose it.

We've got conferences tonight for DS. I'm looking forward to them. I'm starting to worry about his teacher. She lost a baby last year at 5 months and she's been gone a day about every other week since school started. I'm secretly hoping that she is pregnant again and is going in for frequent appointments. I guess we will see. She is such a nice person. :)

Dh put all the ceiling fans and light fixtures up that we purchased the other day and they look great. We went out the other day and bought a new vanity and mirror for the kid's bathroom so that's going in this weekend. Hopefully, we'll finish the bathroom after Christmas. It would have been finished by now if we hadn't have had the septic tank issue.

I think we are all feeling better here. I'm still hacking stuff up but at least I'm getting it out.

zalansky,

Do you know how far the outlet mall is from Tampa? We are going over to Sand Key for my Birthday and I thought about going by the ones in Ellenton(sp?) on the way home. Is it quite a ways? More importantly, would we have to drive over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge to get there. :scared1: :scared:

I hate that thing and still close my eyes if we have to drive over it.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day. I've read everyone's posts but just can't get caught up right now.

:wave2:

Computer guy is about to get here - hope it all goes well.

Gems - I hear you! DH's sister, while not a complete mess, has pulled some real financial doozys over the years ($20,000 worth of consumer debt that IL's paid for, quit paying her student loans and didn't tell them, etc) and they bought her two houses, two cars (one brand new) and recently a $1600 digital camera set up that she has no need for, but just wanted for fun. But they cannot meet up with us for vacations with their grandkids because "we're saving for retirement". Arrrghghghg. They feel guilty that she is not happy. So they try to rescue her from herself.

Congrats FF! I bet you will really enjoy that time with DH.

Hillbeans - how scary!

Time to clean up some poo. I know y'all are jealous.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I'll have to go check out the birthday board, I had no idea!

hillary - How weird that the light shattered, how scary!! You're right, thank God no one was in there!

gems - You have every right to be upset about your inlaws supporting your BIL like that when you guys are doing everything right and they won't help you. That stinks!!!

alice - Once upon a time they used to sell cool ranch Baked Doritos. They were so good. I haven't seen them at the store in ages though.

ff - That will be so great when your bathroom is finished!

z - I'm thrilled about Brittney leaving Kevin too, he's awful! Now instead of K-fed they are calling him Fed-Ex!

Here's our itinerary - feel free to throw out some suggestions!! I didn't really schedule things in the evening. I just thought we would play it by ear and see what sounds good.

Sunday - arrive and check in to Beach Club. Head over to Beaches and Cream for lunch. Probably head over to MK after Tyler has a nap.

Monday - My Mom has a meeting today so it's just Tyler and I. We are going to MGM to see some characters and Playhouse Disney! Starring Rolls for breakfast for us and a CS for lunch (any recommendations?) Dinner with my mom at LeCellier.

Tuesday - Mom meeting - Tyler and I are hanging out by the pool today, no plans! Dinner with Mom at Wolfgang Puck Cafe.

Wednesday - Animal Kingdom! Breakfast at Donald's. Hopefully we can see the Nemo show. I think we'll head to the Affection Section and visit some animals too. Anyone know if there is an age requirement to play in the Dig Site area? Counter Service dinner maybe at Epcot.

Thursday - Magic Kingdom EMH - Bakery breakfast (I'm craving french toast loaf!) Lunch at LTT. Dinner CS.

Friday - Breakfast 1900 Park Fare - Dinner California Grill - the rest of the day is open for whatever we want to do.

Saturday - Epcot - no reservations today, I think it will be a counter service day.

Sunday - Home :(

Anyone ever stopped at the Character outlet? Is it far from WDW? Is it worth making the trip?

tamie

I'm having trouble with my computer at home. I type out replys and it gives me an error. It's driving me nuts. I'm at school and don't have much that I can get done right now so I'm going to go back and get caught up.

Happy Birthday Tamie :bday: party:

J&D - Welcome back :wave2: !!

Happy Birthday Tamie!!!! :bday: :cake: :bday:

FF--I'm sure Loretta can give you a better estimate, but we ALWAYS hit the mall in Ellenton when we're in the area (has to be one of the best outlet malls I've ever been to) Anyway, it takes us about 20 min. from the airport in Tampa to get to DH"s grandpa's house if we don't hit traffic, and yes, we have to cross the Skyway--and the mall is about 5 min. from his Grandpa's house

gems--Congrats on getting your C-section scheduled!

Hillbeans--how scary about the light. Thank goodness no one was hurt

SL--hope you're not too busy today!

Alice--go out and get you some of those chips!!!

Tamie--great itinerary--makes me want to start really planning our trip!

Well, better go. It's been a busy morning for us so far, and now I have to take the birthday boy in for his 1 year appt. Will let you know how it goes later!

Robin – I agree that I would be very angry to see the child tax credit go. I have to admit that I didn’t even vote last night. I just couldn’t get into any of the campaigns that were going on in my state.

Thanksgiving – Mine is always crazy but wonderful. I’ve been cooking Thanksgiving dinner for my family and DH’s family for 6 years now and I love every hectic moment of it. We have had up to 30 people but it will only be 20-something this year since my brother is in Ca.

Bellacam – Creamy Desitin is the best for my Aidan’s diaper rash and he gets rashes constantly.

Tamie – I didn’t realize your trip is so soon! You must be so excited!! Your itinerary looks great!

GLT – OMG!! I can’t believe you have to live without a car. There is no way it can be fixed?? I am so sorry!!

GM – I hear you on the budget board making you spend more money. It has the same effect on me. I love that board though. I get so many great tips there.

Gems – I’m so glad they scheduled your c-section. Your BIL sounds like a piece of work. I can’t believe your in-laws would buy him a house free and clear. They are just making the problem worse by doing that.

Z – I agree with you on Britney Spears. I’ve always felt a little bad for her. She just seemed to really want to be a mom and have a family life. She should have chosen someone better to do it with. Well, at least she’s got plenty of cash to see her through being a single mom.

Hillbeans – How scary! Thank goodness no one was in the room when the light exploded.

Well, I got good news from DH. He is getting a 4K raise when he gets his Master’s degree in March. That’s on top of the 3500 raise they already gave him for his BA+20. Not bad! I think staying home might be a possibility for me next year, but now I’m dragging my feet. I’m having a good year and really enjoying my job (working with the kids anyway). I don’t know that I could actually walk away now. My aggravation with the job has kind of passed and I feel settled again.

Emily’s campaign for a puppy is cracking me up and I am reaping the rewards. She cleaned the whole downstairs last night. She did a really good job too. I asked her why she did it and she told me that she wants to show me that she is responsible. It was so cute. I feel really bad playing the whole puppy thing off but it will be so worth it on Christmas morning.

I have Thursday and Friday off this week. I need it so badly. I’m so excited to go into the City tomorrow. Then, I’ll be working on the house the rest of the weekend. We are painting our upstairs bathroom and I need to clean closets, etc. Fun stuff!
