The Official New Mom Thread Part 2

Morning! Yawn... Carson is sleeping now after a "needy" night, and I don't have a car today so I've decided to hang out in my jammies for awhile and chill. Talked to DH around 4:30 a.m. as he was driving (I was feeding the boy) and his phone was dying already and he forgot the charger. SO, I guess I won't be hearing from him much today which I hate when he is traveling. Anyhoo, I will be trying to clean and finish laundry today so I can spend time with the girls tomorrow as they have the day off from school. I think we'll watch a Netflix movie we've had forever - "Akeelah and the Bee" (anyone seen it?) and shop for a few more fall/winter clothes.

Tasha - That stinks about your child-care situation...I hope something good comes up SOON!

floridafam - Hope today brings no stress!! :sunny:

Alice28 - I'll keep MaryLou's husband in my prayers - how scary! Thinking about CC Spa - I had never heard of one until I read your posts. Is it like part of the store? I also didn't know there was a store in Naperville - it's kinda far from me, but I miss the one in Frisco, TX which was close to me. When I was teaching, I would just drool over that place!! Oh and popcorn doesn't count - it's so light and airy, right?

ginamarie - hope you hear GOOD news from the owner of the car! Don't feel bad - I crashed into the divider of our garage in TX THREE times and I was going FORWARDS! :confused3 And I also backed into DH's car in the driveway once because I wasn't used to it being there. For some reason I do well on the road, though ;)

ryan840 - great news on the furniture!! How fun is that??

gottalovethem - so, where are you in Wisconsin? I'm like 10 minutes or so from the border off of 94. Very close to the Six Flags Great America.

Oh and weddings - mine was in Memphis and it was a pretty formal evening event with a reception at my Grandparents gorgeous home. We had a buffet and open bar but only a piano player so no dancing which I regret sort of now. But most weddings of my friends were in the evening as well.

And I would love to get in on the Christmas exchange if it's not too late! I need the rules, though, as I have no idea what they are! It's fun hearing about all of your "happies" that are arriving!

Have a great day! :)

Oh, Tasha, that's horrible news! You must be so upset. I know I would be. I hope you can find Kylie another daycare that's affordable. :grouphug: Or that someone just buys her daycare and she can stay in the same place.

FF- I did get that coupon...and they had another one, buy 1 service, get one 50% off. I so want to call up and book some stuff, but I can't. It would be even more fun to go with someone, but most of my friends just aren't that into it, or don't realize how worth the $$ it is. DIZ- the Spa is not necessarily attached to the store- ours isn't, but it's in the same shopping center as one. It's basically just the same creed of customer service that the stores showcase, which is kind of above and beyond your expectations. Everything is very soothing, relaxing- like a day spa, but without having to go to a resort. They do sell some of the CC products- like loungewear, knickknacks, plus lotions and fru-fru stuff in there. I just am in love with it. As you can tell by my constant droning about it. ;)

ETA- I'm pretty sure Mary Lou's DH is a diabetic and that he got a sore on his leg or foot a couple months ago which never healed and turned into this raging infection.

Hi Jill! We sure miss you, but understand that school comes before DISing right now. I'm so sorry about your friend's father. :guilty:

Hi Gems! Hi Gina!

The only thing that's exciting since the last time I posted, is that a gal emailed me about the car sometime last night. I'm waiting for a decent hour to call her back. I hope she's serious. I posted it on Craigslist yesterday afternoon, since it's free. She saw the ad there vs. Autotrader. When I posted our last car on Craigslist, I just kept getting scam emails, but she at least has the right area code listed, so I know she's local.

DH left for work at 4 this morning to meet with the graveyard crew. Then I had a hard time falling back asleep as I kept having weird nightmares. I'm sure I will be sleepy later- it's another gray, drizzly day- perfect napping weather!

Whoops, confused this thread with the New Moms to Be thread!!

I saw you had posted her and I was pretty shocked. I had to check it out.

So does this mean you are pregnant? If so congratulations! :cheer2: :woohoo:

Very cool.

I am at my wit's end with my cat. He pooped on the floor outside of his box again! At least it wasn't on my dining room floor - it was on the basement floor, but on a rug. We were going to leave him here when we go on vacation (we usually drop him off at my parents' house, but they're going away at the same time) and have my BIL and my FIL come every day (separately) to feed him, change the litter, play with him, etc. but now I don't know if that's a good idea. Our vet only does medical boarding and we boarded him once before at a facility and didn't really care for doing that.

Tasha - :grouphug: I'm so sorry to hear about your daycare. I hope you're able to find something as convenient and budget-friendly.

Alice28 - Sorry your friend's DH isn't doing much better.

ryan - Good luck with your furniture

val - Sorry, I don't know why but I assumed you were travelling out of Bradley. We'll be at POFQ after spending a couple days at the BWI.

Sorry I'm missing a bunch of you - the cat is screaming now and I don't want him to wake Lucas up. I don't think he's sick but we made an appt with the vet for Monday. I'll be going out shopping later to finish up my exchange package and I hope to get to the post office tomorrow. Hope to see you all later.

Yup! Thanks! I'm due in mid-April! We are both so excited - I finally get to brainwash another into loving WDW as much as me. :teeth:

:Pinkbounc :woohoo:

That is what we thought too when we had kids, and guess what?????? It worked.

So happy for you both! Hope you are feeling good and be sure to come back over here when minnie vettechick99 is born. BTW you are NOT the 1st mommie to be to get the threads confused.

Yay Vettechick! Congratulations! I've enjoyed your trip reports, and yes, it's fun to brainwash your children into being obsessed with Disney! My boys talk about it at least once a day or every other day; DH gets so irritated sometimes, but even he just has to laugh. He has said to them, "You do know there are other places to vacation, right?" :confused3 :rotfl:

Be sure you hop over here after baby comes! I'm sure we'll still all be here, along with even more new mommies. Some of us aren't so new anymore, but we can't bear to leave! This is the nicest group of gals on the DIS! (I'm a bit biased, I know).

I just got back from mailing my package. I was all th way back home when I realized that I forgot to put my return address on it.

Kona hates the post office!!!

vettechick,

CONGRATULATIONS!! My DD's b-day is April 11. Please feel free to post here. You're already a new mom in my book. :teeth:

Alice28, I was thinking about a year ago how I was far from being a "new" mom, but just couldn't leave you ladies! And good thing since now I technically qualify again and I would have had a lot of catching up to do.

Tasha, that's so terrible about your daycare, and only giving you 2 weeks to find a new place. I really hope you can find something affordable and convienient that you like in that amount of time. If not, can you maybe find a college student who would be willing to watch Kylie while you have class just until you find something more permanent? Good luck.

SL, sorry about your cat. We had a kitten who did that, but she had feline leukemia so we attributed her missing the litter box to that since it was near the end of her life. My mom has 2 dogs and left them home when we went to the beach and when she was here for Henry's birth. She got a dog walker to come feed and walk them but still came home to a very smelly house cause they had lots of accidents. Ugh, pets can certainly be a pain sometimes, as much fun as they can be other times.

Well my friend wasn't feeling well today so I am watching her 2 kids under 2yo while she went to the dr so I have to go. 4 youngs kids is insane, let me tell you. But she's the one who rushed to the hospital for Madison when Henry was born so what can I do!

Hey all! :sunny:

Well, the couple that are going to use me to watch their little one just left. They are really nice and their baby is so cute! I miss those little baby days--but not nearly enough to want another one of my own. So I'm going to start watching him the 1st week of November and I decided to charge her $55 for the 2 days I'll have him (I decided to charge a little less b/c she's driving a long way to bring him over here--and if her husband has the day off--he has a bizzare schedule--she'll pay me anyway even if I don't have the baby)

And one more day until my weekend away with my sister!!! :cheer2:  We're hoping to be on the road by 10 tomorrow morning b/c we have to drop off my neice at my sis' s MIL's house. I'll definitely be taking pics to share with you guys when we get back. The only bad things is, is I was supposed to be able to take DH's car this weekend so I wouldn't have to drive the mommy-mobile (mini-van) but of course something popped off his car on his drive home fromwork yesterday and now it's in the shop. So, we'll see this afternoon whether or not we'll get it back in time. I guess worse things could've happened!

WEll, I know I didn't catch up with anyone else (being a little selfish today, aren't I??? ;) ) but I gotta run and go get some more formula so DH won't run out this weekend. Will catch up later!!

Hi everyone :sunny:

Thrilled to see Vettechick's news. I too, have always thoroughly enjoyed her TR's. Hopefully she will post about the ups and downs of pregnancy. Sort of like The Girfriends Guide to Pregnancy. Hilarious.

Like justthat said, I am not a new mom anymore either. Now that my baby turned one. But I could not bear to not come here either! Its kind of like the thread has morphed into something much bigger.

Greys Anatomy premiere tonight. That deserves dancing bananas.

I was supposed to have a girls nite out tonight but it was cancelled but I am okay with that due to Greys starting back tonight.

Tasha - I hope you find a new daycare asap!

Robin - prayers still going out for your friends DH.

I am up for a Christmas exchange too. See y'all later.... :moped:

Hi ladies!

Today my girlfriend is coming over for lunch. I just put Tyler down and I have some chicken in the oven (just making a salad with chicken).

That's so exciting that vettechick is expecting! Yes Robin, I could see her doing a girlfriend's guide too!

zalansky - sorry your girl's night was cancelled! Enjoy Greys Anatomy tonight!

robin - I'm so sorry to hear your friend's husband isn't doing better. I was hoping he was on the road to recovery. How scary. The spa sounds so nice. I wish I could go with you! There really is a difference between a $20 pedicure and a $50 one. The atmosphere at nice spas makes it worth it.

nucpharm - Hope the car is fixed quickly for you. Have a great weekend!! Yes, we can't wait to see pics.

tasha - I hope you can find something too! Something will work out, I know it.

jill - Hi! Nice to see you :)

ff- I hope you get good news on the septic. I hate when things like that consume your thoughts and keep you up at night. Yep, I'll send you a PM when my exchange goes out.

sl - sorry to hear about your cat. I hope the trip to the vet goes well.

val - Have a great trip!!!

diz - That's a bummer that you won't be able to be in touch with your hubby!

I think my rugrat is still up there talking to himself

I had to order Tyler's lion costume from Old Navy online yesterday. Our local store did a search and the only store in MN that had one left was way up north. I guess putting their costumes at 25% off made them quite the hot seller. At least they have the $5 shipping, that's not soo bad.

Talk to you all later.

Any big plans this weekend?

Tamie

Hi ladies!

justhat - I certainly hope we don't need to qualify as "new moms" to post here anymore. Aidan's getting a bit old. We could change the name. Eventually, we'll be the "official moms of tweens" thread, then "teens", then "young adults". Eventually, we can just call ourselves the "official senior citizen thread" :rotfl: .

Tasha - I'm so sorry to hear about Kylie's daycare. I hope you can resolve the situation soon. Do you know anyone who could reccomend a place. I found my sitters through recommendations from other people who swore by them.

zalansky - Sorry to hear about your girls' night. I'm excited for Gray's Anatomy too. I hope I can stay awake!

Tamie - Aidan is being the Old Navy lion too! I wanted the monkey but they didn't have it in his size. They run pretty small. I'm not even sure if the 2T will still fit him by Halloween.

nuchpharm - Have a great time this weekend. It sounds like so much fun!

vettechick - Congratulations! How exciting!

I just had to tell all of you that I had a GREAT back to school night. I had a mom stay after to tell me that she is on the board of ed and that I came highly recommended by other staff members and that she literally had to fight to get her daughter in my class. She also said that she can only hope her daughter can live up to my standards. I nearly fell over. I didn't realize that I was "da bomb" around here. I think I left with a bit of a swagger  . I felt bad bringing it up with my friends today. Apparently, my friend did not have such a good evening. She got ambushed by a set of parents who accused her of calling their daughter a derogatory name while on hall duty. She doesn't even know this student. Luckily, other staff members came in and helped her out. The dad was literally blocking the door. She started crying when she told me the story.

Well, I better get going. It's quitting time and I want to talk to DH before his interview today. He's really nervous.

Wow, thanks everyone! I'm glad I had a pregnant moment and picked the wrong thread. I will definitely be back once the vettechicklet is born. I'd love to write a pregnancy guide, but so far it's all been pretty boring. Not that I'm complaining. Last thing I want to do is get to know the inner plumbing of my toilet.

On another note, yeah for Grey's Anatomy!!!! It's about time!

Tasha- Oh gosh I hope the daycare situation works out!

Justhat- you are a brave woman to be watching all those children!

DisKim- Glad you had a good “back to school” night. Good luck with your DH’s interview.

I just met with my client. Olivia is with my mom for a little bit, so I figured I’d check in before I go pick her up.

No good weekend plans for me. We’re doing more unpacking, etc. Our housewarming is next weekend (the 30th), so we’re running out of free days before then. Still no word on how much our neighbor’s car is going to run. I’m still worried sick over it. Hopefully it won’t be too much and I can order some nice food for next weekend’s party. Otherwise everyone is getting ramen noodles ;)

Quick question - have any of you ever heard of the "Mom Team" - it is some work from home (use that term lightly) business DH found online. They don't give much info but want you to fill in your contact info so someone can call and explain how it works. Allegedly it does not involve selling things but I find that almost impossible to believe. Anyone know what this is?

I still want to go work PT over at the Disney call center here in Tampa....just for the perks alone. DH isn't having any of that. He says its not worth my time and gas in the car, and time away from the kids (and him too) to go there to work for $8.00 an hour; But like I said it is more about the perks. :goodvibes I need to keep working on that.

zalansky - I'm skeptical of everything so I'm the wrong person to comment on the "mom team". I never heard of it. I would think you would be better off working at the Disney call center. If you could do it for just a few hours a week, it might be nice just to get out and talk to people, etc. Good luck convincing DH :goodvibes . What kind of perks do they get?

One of my students is leaving for Disney tomorrow. I'm so jealous.

Well, DH just left for his interview. The poor thing is so nervous. I'm not worried about it because I don't really think this job is a good idea. His friend is on the hiring comittee and sent him the interview questions. Isn't that devious?

GM - good luck with the unpacking.

I have no good plans this weekend and I am THRILLED with that. I want to clean out the kids' rooms and get all my fall decorations out. We have a dorky apple festival right down the street the following weekend and I like to have the house decorated for the kids to see. I started last weekend but didn't do much. I still need my cornstalks, mums and hay bales.
