Robin,

I need some ebay advice if you have a second. My auction is due to end on Wednesday. There is a chance we will not have power. Do you know what I should do?

I don't want to look like an idiot on my first auction. Do you have any suggestions?

Go to your listing and revise it (look for revise your listing button on your page of your item)...put in your description something like, "I live on the FL coast and hurricane Ernesto may leave me without power for a few days. Please understand if you do not hear from me upon auction's end. I will do everything I can to get item shipped as soon as possible. Thanks for your understanding."

Most buyers will totally understand and it won't be a big deal. :goodvibes

Can your DH swing by the store on the way home so you don't have to go out again to get some hot dogs?

FF - WOW I need to get out of the house and see if people here are freaking out! I have been stuck inside for 3 days now, though I did run to Publix yesterday and no one there was freaking. I want to see what the general concensus is around here for this storm.

Connor has a bad stomach virus, his first ever. He has never even had a bad fever! This is his 2nd illness in 3 weeks thanks to pre-school. His immunity system was never exposed to so much like it is at school. I suppose better now than in kindergarten when he shouldn't miss so much school. Anyway that is why I have been stuck inside for days. My poor baby! He still had a temp of 102 this afternoon so Grandpa was gracious enough to run him into the doctor just to be on the safe side that nothing else as causing this. Now we must pray the baby (and us) does not get it. We leave for WDW in 6 days!!! OY!!

WooHoo! :cool1: I am now surfing the net on my own DSL connection!!! 5 weeks after moving in, I can finally be connected to the outside world! Okay, so that's a little dramatic, but how did I ever live without the internet! :teeth:

I'm not going to even try to "catch up" b/c I've just been popping in once in a while, but you guys will definitely be hearing from me more now--be forewarned! :rotfl2:

floridafam--thanks for getting the package out--but no rush

z--have fun on your trip--I'm kind of sad that we're not going, but I just have to remind myself that we'll be there in April

Stay safe all you florida people!!

Will check back in later--DH is working late, so that means more net surfing for me--time to go think of something for dinner!

Hi guys,
I'm sending prayers that the hurricane doesn't cause any problems for our Florida moms :goodvibes .

I read the whole thread but I really don't have the heart to reply to everyone right now. I had a really terrible day at work and all I want to do is cry. The gist of it is that I messed up a lot of orders and I feel like crap about it :( . It has been super busy there the past few days and I don't know if I have what it takes to handle such a high pressure situation. I tend to get flustered under pressure hence all the mistakes. I'm also just REALLY missing being with my kiddos. I feel like such a fool for sounding all gung ho on this job when maybe it isn't right for me. I'm just feeling so down right now and I don't know what to do. I would appreciate any advice or pd you guys can offer. I hate to tell people in real life about this because I will look like such an idiot after I went on and on about how great the job was. I've been crying for three hours now and I still don't feel any better about it.

val,

I'm so sorry. What do you do at your job? I know it must be hard to be doing something when you miss your kiddos. :grouphug:

Is there something out there that might be a better fit for you?
We are all here for you and you can vent anytime. :grouphug:

(((Dear Val)))

I felt so badly when I read your post. I did waitressing for 3 different restaurants in my early 20s. To this day, that was the HARDEST job I ever did. Food service is tough. It's tough to remember 10 different things at once; how to prioritize it; and then sometimes you don't even do anything wrong and people get pi$$ed because somehow it's not up to their standards. I swear to you, I still have nightmares about it sometimes. I know what you are doing is somehow in that realm, and I so feel for you!

If it makes you feel any better, it does get easier, you will develop a flow and develop tricks into remembering orders and such. As far as missing your kids...that's a toughie! How many hours a week is this again? I really could handle working when I only worked about 5-6 hours a day...but when I would work 8 hour shifts, I couldn't stand it. I remember that getting easier too- the first few weeks back to work after the boys were born were TORTURE, but then it got easier. Except when one of them was sick, or appointments, etc.

And I totally relate to being all gung-ho about something, and then have it not work out the way I thought it would....and feeling stupid to my friends and family that it didn't work out, or I didn't like it, etc. But things work out the way they are supposed to, I believe. If this job isn't the right fit for you, then it isn't the right fit. I really believe God has a hand in our lives, and gives us nudges now and again in the direction we need to go. I remember getting so psyched for a city recreation director job with the city of Portland, and I was in the top 5 or 10 out of 400 applicants....I was SO SURE I would get it, I would leave my old job in the dust....and then, I didn't get it. It felt like a slap in the face; same with the THREE times I didn't get into the credential program at Portland State. But, if I had gotten that job, what would I have done when DH got called up to Iraq? (the job interview was 9 months before he left) I would have had to quit. I got pregnant on accident the 3rd try at PSU; maybe that was really how my life was supposed to go- being a mom and taking parttime work here and there rather than being in the classroom. It's funny how things work out sometimes.

I don't know if my rambling helped at all- these are the times I sure wish we were all in the same area....there are so many of us, when someone is down, SOMEONE would be able to run over with coffee and donuts to cheer her up and talk. :grouphug:

Well, I'm torked cause it's 3:15 and my window of 1-3 for my bed delivery has come and gone. :furious: It better come today; I think that's why my back is hurting; from practically sleeping on the floor for two weeks. I did my workout and took 3 motrins, and that seemed to ease things up. It's not my kidney. (thanks God!).

Nucpharm- so glad you are back with us! :cheer2:

More later I am sure~~~~~~~~~~~

zalansky,

I'm sorry to hear that Connor has been sick. :guilty: I hope he gets better soon.

Keep us posted. :grouphug:

Is he feeling any better this evening? Poor little guy. :guilty: I hope the rest of you do not get it---at least Connor will be better for Disney. (just hope the rest of you are fine!!! :wizard: )

zalansky - Poor Connor! I hope he is better soon!!

Val - Everything that Robin said is exactly what I would say. It is so hard to be a mom nowadays. We have to strive to be perfect both at home and in the workplace and it is impossible to do it all. If it helps any, I screw up all the time! I've learned to roll with the punches and laugh a lot of things off. I can totally empathize with you though because I know how it feels to be gung ho about your job and want to be the best, but it is often hard to concentrate on work when your heart is at home. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

nucpharm - Welcome back to the wonderful world of the internet! I think we would die without internet for that long! Have fun surfing the net tonight!

OK ladies, Emily almost has me and Tom convinced to let her have a dog. My neice's dog is having puppies and my future-verterinarian of a daughter has finally dropped the idea of taking one of the puppies on us. We found out her dog was pregnant yesterday. I'm really suprised that Emily waited until dinner tonight to spring it on us. I have to say, she had her reasons well thought out in advance. The best one was that she doesn't have any friends so she needs a dog for companionship. She put the saddest face on when she said it and I just cracked up. She started laughing too and said she wanted to try that line on me to see how it worked and then she was going to try it on her father. I think she should give up the idea of being a vet and be an actress instead  . The dog will be a Jack Russell and dachsund mix. I really don't care for Jack Russells. They are so hyper. I have enough hyperactivity with 3 kids. I think DH and I are about to give in to her though. I think it would be good for her and I really do believe her when she says she'll clean up after it. She changes Aidan's poopy diapers after all. :dog:

Hi Ladies,

Thanks for the compliments on my beach pictures. Yes, my hair got really long, i'm growing it long and letting my bangs grow in also. From a week in the beach in the sun it also got very bleached out and a little frizzy. When i'm home, I try and flatiron it out for work, but it's not worth it at the beach. I really miss vacation, and am already thinking about our trip to the beach next year.

I wanted to tell Jill that I love the pics of JP in his duck costume! JP reminds me of Liam - they look a little alike with the blondy hair and blue eyes. I hope you're doing well with your first day back at school. I give you a LOT of credit - hope you had a good day and you'll get into a rhythm soon.

Diskim - I bought the same WDW shirts in Navy for our family as you bought in Aqua. I really liked your pictures!

Justthat - thanks for sharing the really cute pics of Henry! I'm glad you're doing well!

Alice - I just loved the pic of Molly when she was 4 days old - your son is looking at her like she's a living doll. I did enjoy the days of having a baby/baby however our babies were never all that small, right?

Loretta - I'm so sorry Connor has been sick. Not to go OT, but I put Kevin in Daycare at 11 weeks old for 3 days a week, and he was sick all the time. I just think that being in such close proximity to so many kids and germs is the culprit. I remember that year I myself never had so many colds or sore throats. Believe it or not, it is good for their immune system, but it doesn't seem so at the time. I finally started wiping Purell on Kevin's hands in the carseat outside of Daycare and then i'd change Kevin's clothes the minute we got home from daycare and washed his hands and legs/feet with warm water. Excessive hand washing seemed to help limit the colds after awhile.

Hope that you and FloridaFam are doing ok in Florida!

Nucpharm - Glad to hear you're back on line!!!! :Pinkbounc How is Matthew sleeping? When are you going to WDW in April? We are going around Easter Break.

Vald - Hang in there - Waitressing can be a very hard job, but I always found it rewarding and in time I hope that you do also. Sure, you make mistakes, but that's ok. Don't be so hard on yourself. In no time you'll get the swing of it down and it will all work out for you. Put on that smile and go make lots of great tips!!!!!!!

Ginamarie - can't wait to see the pictures of the christening. I'm so happy for you that you had a great day!!!!!! :)

Fabumouse - I hope you have some luck finding nursing shirts.

Tasha - hope you're doing well back in School!

J&D - Kevin loves his new books, especially "Shark in the Park". I'm really trying to do 30 minutes of reading books and writing in the evenings now with school starting next Thursday. I want to kind of get him out of "summer" mode and into school mode. He loves reading books, so that's always a great start.

Tamie - I want to talk with you about getting growth charts for my boys. Maybe we can PM some point this week. Thanks!!

Gottalovethem - Hope you're doing well-

SL - Lucas is so photogenic! I just adore the pic of him in the Mickey Mouse costume. There was someone on the DIS last Halloween that had a pic of their boys in those costumes sitting on the ground next to their stuffed Mickey's - and they were so adorable.

Joats - Wow - gotta love those 2.5 hour naps!!

Bellacam - so nice that you had a great date night!

Hi to Buzznbelle's mom, Cabmom, Ryan840, DisneyPhD, and all the other mom's! Hope everyone has a great night.

Well, the baby's been asleep for close to an hour and it's time for me to go in also. I wish I could say his sleeping has gotten better, but he's going through a lot of separation anxiety these days. I honestly thought for sure that by 11 months i'd have a child who slept, but sleeping seems to be last on his agenda!

Good night ladies.

Yep, here I am again! Just can't get enough--Ha! :rotfl2: I really don't like the nights when DH has to work late--he'll be home around midnight. But it feels like utter chaos around here from dinnertime until the kids are in bed. Matthew is now a crawling speed demon and pulling up on to everything. It never ceases to amaze me how different boys are from girls. DD was never this troublesome at this age! I think we are in for some serious trouble with Matthew--he's cute, but what a devil in disguise!

Hillbeans--Matthew has actually been sleeping much better, thanks for asking. We went through a stretch last week where he was sleeping from 8-5 or 6 in the am. But, of course, last night he was upagain around 3:30--so we'll just see what tonight holds for us. We will be in WDW the Wed. after Easter until that next Sunday--I think April 11-15th are the dates. We are spending the Saturday before easter until Wed. at the beach with IL's and then heading over to Orlando for some family time.

z--hope Connor's feeling better. I'm praying that none of the rest of you get sick before the trip.

alice--Did your bed ever get delievered??? That would have me steaming mad!

val--So sorry to hear that you had such a hard day. I, too, did the waitressing thing for a couple of years, and it is really hard work. I hope tomorrow is better for you--Lots of hugs and pd your way!

Well, the big thing that's happened here recently is that Emma is pretty much potty trained!!!! Except for nighttime, when she still wears pull ups, she hasn't had an accident in the past 4 days. One day last week, she announced that she wanted to wear her big girl panties--and, by george, the next day we put them on her, and after a couple of minor accidents, she got the hang of it. I'm really glad to have that monkey off my back.

Well, a big HI!!! to all the other mommies out there and especially to any new mommies that I haven't had the chance to "chat" with yet. I need to get off of here and get some stuff together for this huge consignment sale they have here twice a year. My sis and I have put our stuff together to make some $$$$ for our sister's weekend in a few weeks! Have a great night all!

Does anyone know where I might buy voodoo dolls? Ebay? :ssst:

MIL just called and said that BIL would like for us to change his reservation for the Boardwalk this coming weekend from Sunday & Monday nights to Saturday & Sunday nights. There are several reasons this is laughable and at the same time I need voodoo dolls.
1) the fact that BIL is 31 years old and needs his mommy to call us and ask this, and the guy is an undercover agent with the police and also a member of the SWAT team.
2) Those who own DVC will understand this : I grilled DH weeks and weeks ago about the fact that BIL better not try and make a change or cancel because it is near impossible to do within the 31 day window and we risk losing points. Remember we are charging the SIl and BIL for their rooms, and they are getting a huge deal. BIL has not yet paid us. JERK.
3) it is Labor Day weekend this weekend. Does he really believe that there will be a room available Saturday night and that better yet, I am going to allow him to use more of my points?
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
and bonus, his mother still does his laundry. All of it.

Ok, these people are just unreal and I wonder at times why I didn't run for the hills when I met this family instead of marrying into it.

THANKS to you all for the well wishes for my baby boy! Connor actually just woke up crying. He broke his fever by sweating it out and thought he wet the bed when it was really a pool of sweat. Poor little man. He says he feels better but is coughing now.

Hillbeans - good to see you. :goodvibes I have realized Connor is going to be sick alot and we will probably be too and I hate that because I rarely get sick and DH is not a good sick person....as most men are not. Plus I don't want Cami getting these things! Sorry Liam is still not a good sleeper. I feel for you.

Val - sorry about the job. I am sure you will get the hang of it, with such a large menu it has got to take a while before you memorize it all. But if you are not feeling it is a good fit for you and you miss the kids too much, maybe that is a sign? Can you find something with less hours?

Nucpharm - welcome back online! We'll miss you this weekend at BW!

Well I better go try and calm down. I did calm down venting here, so thanks for listening. DH gets mad when I post about his afmily because maybe they will find it on the internet. Well, if they are looking for me online then they should be prepared! :goodvibes

z- I just saw your post on the DVC board and I couldn't believe it! BIL sounds like a true piece of work! And like you said--like he could really get Sat. and Sun. this late in the ballgame on a holiday weekend! Some people, just trying to take advantage of the situation. Hope everything works out. Sorry we'll be missing you guys! Maybe we can meet up in April!

nucpharm - This is one reason I wish member services was open later or we could check availability online. If, for some odd reason, DVC allows me to make this change, I am insisting he drive me the CASH tomorrow - or I will make no changes! This guy thinks he is "all that"....makes me sick. You know the type, thinks he is too cool....

There are 3 clicks up at Sunshine.

zalansky- I'm probably going to New Orleans for the weekend, so I'll pick you up some voodoo dolls. Hope Connor feels better soon and that you stay safe this week. Friday we thought that Ernesto was going to come our way, but I heard today that it is/was heading straight for Tampa.

nucpharm- Glad you finally got your DSL hooked up. Congrats to Emma for using the potty. Looks like Matthew is really growing.

Hillbeans- Glad to hear that Kevin loves his books.

DisKim- Can't wait to see the puppy. Enjoy the rest of your summer vacation. When does your school start back?

floridafam- Hope you stay safe from Ernesto as well. Yes, you should also participate in the exchange. If you don't want to know who has your name in the exchange, then just have your DH draw a few of the names and send those few PMs out for you. That is what I did for a Secret Santa exchange.

Valerie- Sending hugs your way. :grouphug: I thought Will was hilarious on BB last night. If Janie doesn't win, then I hope the winner is Will.

SL- Love the pics of Lucas. Good luck in the contest. Is there a way that we can vote for him?

Alice- What a sweet pic of Molly and Sam.

Ginamarie- Glad to hear that the baptism and party went well.

lissawynn- Have a great first week of school.

Jill- Hope you are feeling better and that your classes went well tonight. Have a great semester. We'll miss hearing from you, but we know that you'll check in when you can.

fabumouse- I know you are looking forward to your FIL's departure tomorrow. Hope the adjustment to having two and not having your MIL there to help goes smoothly.

Tamie- How many growth charts have you sold so far?

TTFN!

nucpharm- yes, my bed came. It was quite the chore getting it upstairs! We had to recruit the neighbor to help. We still haven't bought a frame/headboard, but we will. So far it feels really nice!

YAY for Emma using the big girl potty! :cheer2:

How are you doing Val?

Hillbeans- I'm sorry Liam is still not being a good sleeper for you; that has to be exhausting.

Z- I will kill your BIL for you....what an ****. I mean, I don't think you can get probably any room at one of the better resorts this weekend. Go tell him to stay at All Srars so you can keep your points. Idiot....and to have his mother call you. I'm seriously shaking my head here.

Kim- You got a lawyer on your hands is what you have- sounds like she can talk anyone into anything! :thumbsup2

Well, I think I am going to take a shower and get ready for bed. I'm sore from trying to help with the bed. (trying being the operative word).

zalansky - I would be absolutely livid. I can't say I had any voodoo dolls, but if I did, I probably wouldn't part with them because DH's family can be pretty bad too! I wouldn't budge for BIL. I hope you enjoy your weekend getaway anyway!

J&D - I think I start on the 5th and the kids start on the 6th. I have a way of avoiding things and I refuse to look at my letter to know for sure. It makes it all too real.

Well, tonight is going to be the last girls' night out before school starts for me and my other teacher friends. I think one of my friends is having major problems with her DH. She mentioned something yesterday that has me concerned. I'm very anxious to see her today. They are a divorce waiting to happen and I really hate to have to say that because they have 2 children together. They have a daughter who will be 1 in Septmeber. They have not had "relations" since my friend was 3 months pregnant with that baby!

Oops, DH just brought Aidan down. My playtime is over!

What a terrible night we had. First off, we asked my mom for one thing - to make sure Lucas has a nap. We went to DH's company picnic last night which is held at a local amusement park (and believe me, WDW it is NOT). DH got out of work early (4:00) to pick Lucas up and he had just fallen asleep. :furious: That means he only had a half hour of nap. ALL DAY. So then my mom goes on to say that he can sleep in the car. Fine, except that our tire blew out on the way there and we had to pull over to the side of the road on the highway. We called AAA and apparently they put us high on the priority list because we were in a dangerous place with a baby in the car. Lucas wasn't sleeping, he was crying because of all the giant tractor trailers zooming by us. I was freaking out a little myself. We finally got the tire changed after 45 minutes of sitting there and were on our way. We had a miserable time because Lucas was so cranky.

Also, the internet is out in my computer at home. We're actually going to a Bob Dylan concert tonight so I won't be home anyway but I'm not sure when that'll be fixed. So the only updating I might be able to do is here at work. I'm not even at my desk right now so I have to keep this quick. They are installing new phone lines so I'm hijacking someone else's computer. They haven't moved my desk yet, by the way.

While we're at the concert, MIL is coming over to babysit Lucas. That is going to go really bad, I just know it.

val - :grouphug: Hang in there! I hope the job gets better for you.

J&D - There's no voting. The contest is judged by a group of moms in Boston from what I understand.

floridafam & zalansky - :grouphug: I hope you can stay safe.

lissawynn - Congrats on making it through your first day!

Alice28 - Congrats on the new bed.

nucpharm - Glad you're up and running!

Hillbeans - Sorry Liam still isn't sleeping well for you.

DisKim - Good luck with the dog decision.

I better go. People are starting to ask where I am. I hope to check in again later.

Hey everyone. This is my attempt at checking in while I have a spare moment at school. Yesterday went well after school. I met the appraiser, got to the store, and picked Jimmy up. I made stuffed peppers and a salad for dinner. It was good, but mine was cold by the time Jimmy got through throwing his tantrum at the table. I was in bed by 8:45, but we got woken up by the fire whistle at 1. DH had to get our screaming son back to bed after that. I have also managed to throw up every day this week before coming to work. That's a whole lot of fun.

For those of you who have toddlers...Did they go through a stage around 18 mo. when they were just terrible? Jimmy has been having these temper tantrums when he doesn't get his way. He's banging his head off the floor, contorting himself so he can't be held, etc. I don't know that to do for him. I've started to put him in his crib when he gets this way. Now I'm worried that he'll associate his crib with punishment. What to do?

floridafam and zalansky - Good luck weathering through the storm!
Z - I hope your WDW plans work out!

Alice - How was your first night's sleep on the new bed?

DisKim - My kids are ok so far. None of them are really "bad", but I know some have the potential for it in no time.

SL - Sorry about Lucas not napping and the tire. Hope you had fun at the concert!

nucpharm - Glad you're back in the world of net access!

Val - I hope work gets better for you. I don't know if I'd like working in that kind of environment where everything is so hurried. You need to do whatever is best for you and your family. If the mamma isn't happy, no one is happy.

Btw, I'll have to get back on later and tell you all about my conversation with my neighbor. This is the woman who called the contractor and demanded he work on their house first.

I've gotta run!

Hi mommies. Not much new going on here. Tonight will be just Aidan and I since DH is entertaining the big boss from out of town. It doesn’t happen too often so I hate to complain, but after a day of chasing Aidan solo, I like my evening down time. At least there is a long weekend coming up. DH is off from Fri-Tue and we are heading out to the island for the weekend. Anyone have any good holiday plans?

Hillbeans – Welcome back. Glad you enjoyed you vacation.

Zalansky – I hope Connor is doing better today. You BIL sounds like a real piece of work!!!

Val – Don’t beat yourself up over the job thing. I have done many things thinking I was going to be so happy only to realize I had made a bad decision. There is nothing wrong with that. You need to do whats best for you.

SL – I loved the photos you had done of Lucas. He is such a cutie. I would have been terrified being stuck on the side of the road like that. Enjoy your concert tonight!

Robin – That picture is precious. The “urge” is the one thing I am dreading after this baby is born. After trying for so long to have kids, I cannot imagine the feeling of wanting one just going away. At least my hysterectomy will leave no room for wishing. We also bought a new bed just before Aidan was born last year. It was the best $ we ever spent. Glad your finally arrived for you.

Ginamarie – I am glad the Christening went well for you. Sounds like you had a wonderful day.

Jill – I hope you are feeling better.

FF – I live in Maine and we don’t see too many hurricanes but we get the same “Panic” lines and shoppers if they predict snow. Sometimes it is just too much!

Nuchpharm – Welcome back, so to speak!!! :surfweb: Yay for the potty training.

Diskim – Good luck with the dog decision. My parents waited till we were old enough to handle the responsibilities of feeding, walking, etc before the let us get one. It sounds like you may be having a new addition to your family!!!

Lisswynn – My friend’s 18mo daughter is in the exact same stage you described. She does the same thing by putting her in the crib till she calms down. I don’t see anything wrong with it. It keeps them from injuring themselves in their fit and lets you step away as well.
