Thanks everyone for the advice on silver nitrate. We went to the ped yesterday, and Alex is fine. The doc didn't do the silver nitrate - he said it wasn't needed yet, and he will look at it again in 2 weeks for his 1 month check-up. He said Alex looks nice and healthy, and when they weighed him, he was up to 9 lbs 15 oz! I can't believe he has put on 2 lbs in 3 weeks! Although, I guess I put on as much weight during the pregnancy! LOL :rotfl2:

Brennan is doing better....and he's back up to his birth weight! :)
Here's a couple of new pics :)

Syrreal - he is adorable! What a cutie!

I'm just spying on this thread until the baby is born - I'll go back to reading quietly now :)

He's adorable Syrreal! And such big eyes! My mom says that when I was little (just after learning to talk well) whenever someone would say how cute I was, I would say, "And I have big blue eyes, too!" :rotfl2: I guess I heard it quite often and just started repeating it!

Ah, I went out with two friends of mine today and got a pedicure!! It felt so nice to be pampered a little. So I got a happy dappy pink polish put on :)

I also hit a month of breastfeeding on Tuesday. I am still amazed that I have made it a month. It's still touch and go and I really just try to make it to the next day (since Brennan is an eating machine) but knowing that I've already done a month makes it just a scootch easier

Well, I went for my follow up appt today w/my OB and got the all clear. First question I asked....am I ok to ride all the rides at WDW (had csection)...was told could go on whatever I want.

We leave on the 27th, so I'm very excited. I wasn't too sure about some of the thrill type rides, so I wanted to be sure. :thumbsup2

congrats tiggerstac :)
Hav fun at disney :) let me know how it goes w/ the baby. We're going down for Mother's day.

It's been too quiet in here so I am bumping with the 1st pic I managed to get of Brennan smiling :)

Very cute, Syrreal! Oh, how I remember those early infant days. They go by so fast! My dd will be 2 in just under 6 weeks! She was only a few days old when I started posting on this thread (though I rarely post anymore) and I was one of the first ones to post on the moms to be thread. It seems like yesterday! Btw, we will be at WDW on Mother's Day as well.

What a cute picture Syrreal! I haven't managed to get a good one of Alex smiling yet. I keep trying, but as soon as I focus he stops. My favorite is when he smiles while he is eating and I take the bottle out and he has this huge smile on his face with formula dripping down his chin. It is so cute! A couple days ago he peed on his face, though, and DH was at work so he was real upset that I didn't get a picture of that one! :lmao:

Hi everyone~
I just wanted to say hello & introduce myself. I have a 4 month old son who is soooo much fun!!! :) I occassionally viewed the expecting site, but now I am totally addicted to this website & I'm sure I'll visit this thread much more regularly. :) Have a great Monday & I look forward to meeting everybody.

Welcome Becky! Maybe if we get some more new members this thread will pick up some more.

I have kind of a gross, TMI question for anyone. Ever since Thursday, whenever DS has a bowel movement, he screams really loud like he is in pain, like the kind of inconsolable scream where they turn really red and open the mouth really wide but no sound comes out at first. It is so hard to watch, but it usually lasts less than a minute. He is completely calm and quiet after a minute, and when I change his diaper the BM is not hard or formed, just normal, kind of the consistency of peanut butter (I know, probably TMI).

This happened for the first time when we were in the pediatrician's office in the examination room waiting for the doctor to come in. We told him, and he said it was probably ok since it wasn't hard or formed. Since this has happened 3 more times since, should I be more concerned? I checked for diaper rash and I don't see any, so I don't know what else to do. Anybody else experience something like this?

DS does the same thing but with pee. DH and I think it has to do with feeling wet. He'll be sleeping or just being quiet and all of a sudden scream. Sure enoug, he'll have a wet diaper.

OMG!!! Brennan slept all night last night!!! 9pm to 7 am. I can't believe it. T night before he had slept from 8pm to 5 am. Let's hope I didn't just jinx it.

:0

Wow - you are lucky! The best we have gotten so far is 8pm - 2:30 am. DS always wakes up hungry. How do you do it?

I agree--Very Lucky!! :) Our little guy is sleeping from about 9pm-3:30am every night. He's usually up for about 20-30 minutes and then back asleep until 6:30-7.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to join over here, the girls are already a week old! And they still aren't home, which is very hard most days. I was hoping they would be by Easter but I'm not so sure now. The ped said they needed to be free of all apnea and heart rate episodes for 4 days before they could come home. Kate is going on 24 hours, but Sophie had one last night. It is just that they are so premie, but they will outgrow it. (34 weeks)

Well, we had a very nice time in teh smokies this past weekend. We went on a couple of trails with the baby (just easy ones so we could see how he liked his new stroller and to walk him in the bjorn). It was so nice. We took this trip as kind of a test run for "Baby Tour 2007" that's coming in May where we'll be going down to Florida to see Brennan's Great grandparents, and all his grandparents. So we'll be going to three cities in 10 days with him. We packed the car nice and it wasn't too hard and we learned a few things.
1. Always have a way to heat a bottle
2. Always try to have more bottles that you think you will need (a feat since it takes me FOREVER to pump anything much less to have 4 bottles for the day)
3. That even if the baby is wearing something blue, that many people will call him a she and you'll have to nicely correct them
4. That the car adapter for the pump in style is a wonderful thing

While we were gone, DH and I had been talking about how Brennan always wants to eat and never seems satisfied except at night when we give him a bottle of expressed milk. I was also telling him that it takes me over 1/2 and hour of pumping to get 2 1/2 oz of milk after not having fed or pumped for 5 1/2 to 6 hours. I've been suspicious that I didn't have enough milk from the start. I have never leaked at all, baby has always seemed hungry, etc. So we took him to the pediatrician on Monday for a weight check. He has his 2 mo appt in 2 weeks but I didn't want to wait that long. We've had trouble with his weight since the beginning with him having lost 17% of his birth weight by the time we had left the hospital, and that it took a month for him to regain it, and then the reflux issues. Well, it had been 3 wks since his last appt and he had only gained 7 oz. That's only 1/3 of what he should be at. So now we are supplementing with formula. He still gets "mommy goodness" all day long but then each time he also gets a bottle of formula. In addition, any bottle he gets, whether it's milk (at night) or formula (during the day) he still gets 1 tsp of rice cereal per oz with it for the reflux.
Now it's just a matter of him getting used to the formula and not spit up so much (i think it's from too much change- and more food- that he didn't have before). We got an organic formula and are waiting to see how he does on it (giving him a couple of days) if the massive spitting up doesn't get better we may have to switch him to good start or something easier on the tummy.

It's official - I'm going to be a mom! Hubby and I have been trying for 10 years and accepted that we weren't going to have children, then we got this wonderful news! We are still in shock and I am having morning sickness  (hubby says it shock).

When we found out, I had to go back to work (he's a full time student) and so he did a little shopping. When I got home he had gotten the following:

3 onesies with feet (all unisex)
1 outfit that had pants, top, cap, socks, and blanket,
3 books that had childern stories, poetry, and babies first 123's
Then he had a willow creek statue called "The new gift" it has the mom holding the dad and the dad holding the baby.
