I'm going to do a real post later, but I wanted to make sure to give a big shout out and welcome to Staci!

So - Welcome Staci! I enjoyed your posts on the mommies to be thread and I'm looking forward to hearing how the last 3 months have gone.

:cheer2:

Just a quickie-- DH got up with Sam today and got him off to school, cause I feel HORRIBLE. The cold has progressed, and my other eye is infected now. I wanted to run an errand today, but forget it now. I can't go out looking like this- I will scare people! ;)

Mommies,

I have an odd question. Have you ever felt like any of your DH's co-workers were "interested" in them? How did you feel? What did you do? I'm getting a vibe from one of DH's co-workers and I dont' like it.

:guilty:

FF - First :grouphug: - and I am sorry you are having that feeling. I have not had that feeling but then again, I have rarely met any of DH's co-workers. What makes you feel that way?

Alice - FEEL BETTER! :grouphug:

Staci - :welcome:

I missed the news about the childrens menus! I don't have time to go back a few pages right now but will later on. Tell me, what's going on? I need to go get Connor from school and I am taking the kids to Pizza Hut buffet for lunch. YAY!!!!

By the way did you girls notice that this thread is almost at 10,000 posts! :thumbsup2

See you girls later. :wave2:

Yes and I will email you about it.

Ok, I am back and caught up on the new dining thing for kids over at All Ears. Some of thiose choices, kids will just never eat! A pizza pita, or chicken salad? I wish. It won't happen. Robin I am like you, as long as my kids eat some fruit and veggies, yogurt and drink 2 milks a day )never soda yet and not for as long as I can help it) I don't care what else they eat as long at they eat! Connor gets pickier and pickier as time passes and I am concerned about it but will cross each bridge as we hit it.

Speaking of Connor, we are having a major issue with him. WARNING: TMI coming! Connor has been potty trained for #2 since he was 2 1/2 years old. Naturally we have always had to wipe him but it was better than changing poopy diapers. Well, at his pre-school they will not help the kids wipe and I agree with that. I would not want to be wiping someone else's almost 4 year olds butt. For about 2 weeks or more now, Connor comes home with #2 in his underwear and all over his butt. He is holding it instead of going and obviously straining so hard to hold it back some comes out anyway. This has even started happening at home now. He has been telling us he doesn't know why he is doing this, but finally told me yesterday that his teacher won't help him wipe and he doesn't know how to, so he holds it. We told him over and over to just let us know when he has to go and we'll teach him to wipe and it will take time but he will get it. So - he goes to school today and again came home with poopy underpants. :confused3 I know there is no reasoning with a 3 year old (almost 4) but I swore we got through to him last night. What do we do? I am taking him to the pedi tomorrow for a headcold (worried he is getting Cam's croup) and I am bringing it up with them. How could this start a year after he's been trained? I am beside myself with this, his butt is getting sore from holding it and being dirty for hours until he gets cleaned by me! Does anyone have any experience with their older kids with this?

We had to skip Pizza Hut today to come home and change him....I was BUMMED! Anyway I am going to put him for a nap now. I will see you later and again sorry for the TMI.

Zalansky, how long is Connor at school? Just in the morning? If so can you get him to go before school? I know that may not be possible, but if it is I'd start with that. Other than that I can't help you cause Madison sorta does the same thing and I haven't found a solution yet. She's never had a problem like that exactly, but she refuses to use the potty at school and holds it till I pick her up. And so do the other potty trained kids in her class actually. She hasn't had an accident at school since she was trained but I think that's just cause her bladder is enormous. We generally use her class potty before we go home though, and she's fine with that as long as I'm there. Many other kids in her class have accidents during school all the time cause they refuse to use the school potty. Good luck, that must be really hard for him after being trained so long (and hard for you too cause I know you don't want to clean that mess up everyday!).

Back to the invites. I was interrupted earlier by a hungry boy and then had to head out to pick up Madison.

zalansky - I'm sorry, but I don't think workers in a preschool should feel beyond helping a child wipe if he/she needs it. Emily was potty trained and in preschool/daycare when she was almost 3 years old. She was coming home every day with poop in her underwear and I was livid. I felt she was too young to be expected to do a thorough job of wiping. I wrote a letter to the director and the problem was immediately taken care of. I suppose she had a talk with the staff about it. It is not healthy for a child to be expected to go dirty like that all day. By the way, what Connor is doing is totally normal. Almost every kid I know has kind of backtracked with the potty at some point and time. Alex went dry through the night for over a year and then just started wetting the bed out of the blue.

FF - I'm so sorry one of your DH's coworkers is making you feel that way. Have you talked to your DH about it? I won't get into specifics, but this is the type of thing that happened to my friend. It didn't turn out well for her, but that is because her DH was a jerk. However, the woman just relentlessly pursued him despite the fact that he was married until she finally got him. I'm sure nothing like that would ever happen but I would talk to your DH about it and ask him to make it clear to this woman that he is off limits. :grouphug:

Fabumouse - You can tell Kailey she's too young for horseback riding. Emily was just allowed to start this year and she's 10. The horses are HUGE. Your DH is right. It's very expensive. Maybe you could take her for a pony ride instead. We used to do that with Emmy and they would let her go into the stable and pet the horses too. Good luck to you. My DD is a horse lover and it's costing me a lot of money!

Staci - Welcome :sunny: !

Hillbeans - That concert looked like fun!!

Tasha - I'm so sorry to hear about that DISer. I'll keep her in my prayers.

I'm so darn tired today and I have a faculty meeting after school. I should be writing lesson plans but I get tired of the b.s. I'm putting in them. I think they should let teachers who have 10+ years experience skip the lesson plans. I never even look at them.

Wow, I just realized that I have absolutely nothing interesting to say today. I guess no news is good news :thumbsup2 .

Quickie! Hey girls!

Fabumouse - Just tell Kailey she is too young....she really, really is. Plus, it is so expensive even if you just take lessons and don't get into showing, etc.

Diskim - Wake up! Day is almost over... :)

justhat - good luck with the invites...I'm so glad to be done with the thank-you's - don't think I could start all over again!

zalansky - Pre-K teacher speaking here. I would definitely talk to his teacher but be prepared to be told that they can not help him. With the licensing crap, etc., rules are ridiculous. In my experience, we could not help kids with anything in the restroom other than vomiting...it was sad. This is, of course, because of fear of molestation charges, which is over-the-top imho. Pretty much once the kids were potty trained (and they were required to be so by 3) it was hands off for us. If there was an accident, I'd have to stand outside the door and hand the child his clean clothes and have HIM put the dirty ones in a bag and dress. I did break the rules quite often, but could have gotten in much trouble. :grouphug: to you - it's hard, I know. And MANY, MANY kids (including both of my girls) won't go to the restroom at school.

Robin - Hope you feel better!

Floridafam - :grouphug: Yes, I have been in this situation when DH was a district manager. He was always traveling, going to meetings, etc. with women and it got to me. Most of them I knew as we socialized and they were married with kids. The one single gal totally went after my DH and yes, I got the "feeling". Please talk with your DH about it without being accusatory, of course,( I know you're more worried about her than him at this point ) and tell him how you are feeling. Being open about it will help - I would never let that sort of "feeling" go without acting on it.

Staci - Glad to hear from you again! I'm not planning a trip for a Lo-o-ong time, but I sure do like to hang out here! Come join in!

tykes - hope the playroom is fun to work on - that is so nice!

nucpharm - have fun shopping with your saved$$$ ...good for you!!!!

Tasha - AWWWWW...aren't kids awesome? Glad Kylie is feeling better so she can make YOU feel better!

GLT - GO, GO, GO!!!! I wish I could come with you, what fun that would be! Unfortunately, I need the $$ to spoil the kids at Christmas. I definitely think you should just get up and go -- the kids and YOU would love it!

Well, the boy has been sleeping since 10:30 and it's 1:15 - a miracle as he's a cat-napper normally during the day. He owes me big-time after yesterday, though! He has issues with pooping about once a week and yesterday was his day.....it's awful when he just can't go, I tell you. The doctor says it's no biggie, but I think she needs to spend a day here with him and then tell me that! He's so easy-going most of the time that when these days occur and he's screaming it just freaks us all out! Anyway, he finally "went" last night and feels better. We're safe for another week or so!

Oh - been reading that thread on heating blankets in the baby's bed today. We do put a heating pad on low in his bed while we feed him his last bottle and then take it out before we put him down. Of course we don't leave it in there with him or anything - think this is ok? His bed is just so cold and he always cries at first - the warmth seems to help.

Bye, ladies!

Wow this thread moves fast, how am i ever going to keep up!?

Alice: Thanks for the welcome! I love all the pumpkins - if it ever stops raining here I want to get the kids to a farm for pictures.... sorry you are feeling under the weather.

nucpharm: Oh I am so jealous about the Clubhouse toys! We have 3 walmarts adn none of them have the guys, but I did get a clubhouse at TRU. So I ended up ordering a few guys off of ebay, but I hope to find him more too!! I dont think the clubhouse is anything special; in fact the door and slide keep coming off, but ds LOVES it. He got it last week for his birthday and so far only has mickey as the other guys havent arrived, but he has played with it non stop. Oh and he has never seen the show as we dont have cable. Have fun at TRU!

fabumouse: I know the feeling of a small person with big needs chewing on the shirt, lol!

gottalovethem: Thanks about the name, the Elle part is after my paternal grandmother, ClarabELLE, and the Rose is after my maternal grandmother, whose maiden name was ROSEnboom. ANN is my middle name, and Anna was my dh's grandmother's name. So it is TOTALLY a family name, just organized in a new way. About the waterpark, im new so i dont know how tight your money is, but if you need a break I say go for it! We did a weekend trip to the Omaha Zoo last week that was real cheap but it was so nice because I reallyNEEDED a little getaway.

GinaMarie: I never thought about it but I bet you are right about the cost thing.

Tasha&Scott: thanks for the welcome.how awful about the diser who passed away. your daughter is adorable.

Justhat: Glad Henry is feeling better. Ellie will nap longer in her swing too.....she doesnt like the crib much. She is actual in the pack and play and our bed at night........and I said I wasnt going to cosleep again! But we did manage to get ds into his toddler bed in July (in our room) and just last week he started sleeping in his own room for the first time.

hillbeans: thanks for the welcome! we dont spend too much on christmas either.

tamie: thanks for the welcome!

baby crying hope to finish personals later, if not, HI EVERYONE!

OK, I'm posting again, cause I don't like that we are page 666. :teeth:

I did notice we are at almost 10,000 posts! We like to chat! :chat:

My eyes are so nasty. I did run up to Costco to get the cake order in. I decided it was silly to be getting a $43 cake at the bakery and then be sweating spending another $40 on food....so I cancelled the expensive cake and ordered a $16 one at Costco- I think their cakes are very tasty. I will just have a LOT of leftover cake! I can always give it to the guest of honor and her family. I grabbed a box of mini quiches at Costco, and will make this hot artichoke dip that is fabulous, and buy some veggies and toasted baguette slices. I think that will be a good amount of snackies for the shower. And of course the requisite mints/candies/nuts.

Diz- I don't think there's any harm in warming up Carson's sheets before bedtime, as long as the heating pad is taken out (which you said you did).

Molly has been a PITA the last 24 hours. Just super screechy and crabby, and well, Pi$$y. I had just HAD it by the time DH walked in the door last night and I snapped at him, when it was really Molly I was ready to scream at. She's not ill, and she's pooping fine.....she is just getting demanding sometimes. I was trying to fry some chicken last night, with hot oil in front of me, and she's screaming and trying to grab my legs, etc. I was so afraid she would somehow grab that pan and flip it on herself! :sad2: Usually she's a pretty happy kid, so I am not sure what is going on. :confused3

Z- I agree with Diz- unfortunately the teacher's hands are probably tied with rules and regulations about helping a kid with their private areas. I know this was true when I worked at an elem. school. (sometimes the kindergarteners had accidents). And at this preschool I am helping with, the teacher and the parent helpers are not allowed in the bathroom alone with a child, and are not allowed to help wipe, get dressed, etc. The child needs to do it- of course if buttons need to be done, the child can come out into the classroom area to get help with the buttons. It's so hard- Josh will do that too- hold it til he can't anymore and mess his pants a bit, or get poop on the floor by the potty. He's a terrible wiper and he really only 'got it' this summer that he turned 5. Based on discussions with my girlfriends, I truly think boys just have a harder time with the whole potty thing, wiping, etc. Have you bought him some of those flushable wipes to try? Maybe he can keep some at school in his backpack to take with him to the potty? I find those moist wipes are easier to clean the mess up with, than dry TP. I'm sure kids would find that true as well. I mean, maybe things like today, not being able to go to pizza hut because he had messy underwear, will help him remember to go poop at school and try to wipe a bit better. I would think the teacher could at least remind him to try and go to the bathroom, and would remind him to grab his special wipes (discretely).

Kim- I hope your faculty meeting goes quickly for you!

Staci- yes, our thread moves very fast. Esp when some of us (um, me) are in chatty moods! I tend to post often some days, and not other days.

OK, well I still have my hot dog in my PURSE from Costco. Joshua was just an absolute BRAT and I just threw my hot dog in my purse and we left the food court, cause if I heard him wail 'I want ice cream' one more time, I was gonna lose it. We had just gotten over, "I want the PS2 game!" in the store, only to move to the food court to start the I WANT ICE CREAM. It was 10:15 in the morning. :sad2: I swear, he is the most stubborn child. The people in line were chuckling at him and I just felt like his voice was like fingernails on a chalkboard! He's such an imp, because he IS so cute with his huge blue eyes, crew cut blonde hair, and I usually have him dressed nicely, that people don't seem to mind his fits. But I DO!!!!!!!!!!!! :furious:

Oh, BTW, we did a quick tour of the Christmas gift section- they got new things! I may have to go back again without Josh- my first survey of it a month or so ago, I saw nothing I would get the kids. But now they have this HUGE Darth Tater container with Star Wars Mr Potato Head pieces in it for only $17. And there was something else for Molly I noticed....Anyway, just thought I would give any other Costco shoppers a headsup that they got new merchandise.

Well, I just scored big at TRU--I spent $91 and got the Little Tikes "Haul and Ride" (which btw is so cool, check it out if you have a little boy!), a Little tikes toy piano, the Mega Bloks Fire Engine set, 3 2-piece outfits, a pair of shoes and party invitations! :cool1: No luck on the Mickey Mouse clubhouse though. I'm hoping TRU has a promotion for buy 1 get 1 games soon, so I can get the Candyland DVD game and then one for free for Emma.

Alice--Sorry to hear that your getting worse and not better! Here's to hoping tomorrow is a better day! Wish we had a Costco around here--never had great luck with Sam's club and xmas gifts

diz--when Emma wasn't sleeping well the nurse at mommy and me at the hospital suggested taking a crib sheet that you (mom) had snuggled or slept with (would have mommy's scent on it) and then throw it in the dryer real quick before baby's bedtime--She really liked it.

staci--Don't worry about trying to keep up--we don't get offended if we all don't get personal responses from everyone. Just pop in when you can and keep us all updated on how things are going with you and your adorable little ones!

Well, I've been DVR'ing Six Feet Under off of Bravo and now I'm sort of hooked--it's really twisted, but for some reason I really like it. Well, off to hide gifts and watch some tv.

Ack!
You're still on page 666!

Trying to move it along -

Still no decent post from me - but I'm about to renew my Parenting magazine subscription and they're doing a whole 2 for 1 thing. all of my friends either receive it or have grown children - so

If anyone wants a subscription to Parenting, PM me and I'll send in your name and address with my renewal.

ETA - whew! This got us on to 667. :thumbsup2

Zalansky: I agree about the wipes instead of toilet paper. Could he keep some in his bag, or maybe even could they keep a box of just cheap wipes in the bathroom for the kids to use???

It seems like he is on a pretty good 'schedule' where his body is just ready for #2 during preschool. Maybe try to move him back a little, feed him breakfast before school, give him 20 minutes to move things along, and then sit him on the potty for 10 minutes or so before leaving the house???

No personal experience (yet) since ds is still flat out refusing to #2 in the potty, but i would try to get something figured out before he starts to stress out about it and gets himself all constipated trying to hold it. I would definitely encourage him to wipe himself at home first, and then you do a follow-up wipe.

Hi ladies. I have another one of my horrendous sinus headaches. I think it's due to allergies. I had to leave work early to come home and load up on pills and take a nap. My mom is nice enough to keep Lucas until DH gets out of work tonight and then DH is cooking dinner.

dizagain - My DH is the bigger Disney freak, but I'm the one on Disboards. Go figure.

ginamarie - Have fun at the game!

DisKim - Hope the vet visit went well. Sorry about your friend's divorce.

justhat - Good luck with the invitations.

Alice28 - I didn't know Cabbage Patch Kids were still around. I still remember the names of mine - Amanda Leonora and Aprilette Linette. I heard they got the names from real birth records. I feel sorry for a lot of those kids. I wonder if they still do that.

staci - :welcome: Congrats to you and Elleanna Rose!

nucpharm - I haven't seen the MMC toys at my Walmart but I've seen some at the Disney Store. Not the actual clubhouse, unfortunately, just the cell phone and tool set.

fabumouse - :lmao: Cute conversation Kailey had with Crush! I think we'll try that next time we're at WDW. The line was so long and Lucas wouldn't have gotten the concept so we skipped it.

glt - For that price, I think a night away would be well worth it! I think the kids will love it and you'll get a nice recharge.

Alice28 - Sorry you're still not feeling well. I can see why you have a crush on Emmitt Smith. He's a cutie and he can dance. Maybe not at Mario's level, but he's not bad!

Tasha - I read about that DISer elsewhere but didn't know who she was here. What a sad story. I feel terrible for her DH and DD. Lucas does the same thing as Kylie with tickling the feet. It's so cute!

Hillbeans - Glad you had a good time at the concert.

tkyes - Have fun decorating. I hope you can post pictures of the play room when you're done.

BnB - I've got a ton of laundry to do myself.

floridafam - :grouphug: I'm sorry, I've never been there. I hope things work out.

zalansky - I can't believe the daycare won't at least change him out of the dirty clothes. After you talk to the dr, you might want to talk to the daycare center director about it, too.

DisKim - Hope you make it through your meeting this afternoon.

So remember me saying no one quit work while I was away? I spoke too soon, because someone came in today and gave her notice. She's actually not leaving until December, but it still counts in my book. I can't wait to start school. It'll give me something for my resume to help me change careers and get the heck out of there.

Hi Mommies,

Welcome Staci!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1:  :cheer2: :Pinkbounc

Thanks for all of the advice. This is really weird. I trust DH completely and I really have no ill will toward the woman. I am just getting this vibe that I can't ignore. :confused3 I am going to talk to DH tonight.

I want to thank justhat for the Pampers points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ordered a little trike for Kona today. Hopefully, it will be here in time for Christmas. How awesome. :cool1: THANK YOU JUSTHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not much to report here today. We went to the store and DS bumped into some paper towel that were stacked on display and a huge box cutter came falling down on him. THANK GOD HE WASN'T HURT. One of the stock boys must have left it there after he cut the box open. :furious: I politely walked it over to the Manager and told her what happened and walked away. Given the mood I've been in the past couple days, I didn't want to say too much.

We aren't doing much for the kids for Christmas. Probably around $100 per kid at the most. I'm going to go out this weekend and pick up a few things. They always get spoiled at Christmas by the relatives.

Robin,

I hope you feel better soon! :grouphug:

I'll check back later. :sunny:

zalansky,

I forgot to respond about Connor. I was also going to suggest the moist wipes.

DD would hold her in when she was little because it hurt to go-she had chronic constipation due to an underlying medical condition.

Please keep us posted on how it turns out. I am about to try those wipes with DD because she doesn't wipe well enough. Of course, we are going to put ours in the trash because of having a septic tank. I know it says they are flushable but I still wouldn't chance it.

At least there doesn't seem to be any real issue with why he is doing that other than he just doesn't know how to wipe well enough. I'm sure he would be competely fine after a few days of trying. :grouphug: :thumbsup2

Hi mommies :teeth: ! I'm finally back.

I did a quick skim of the posts and I don't know whether or not my exchange person got their Halloween package. I paid the little bit extra for it to be delivered priority and it was shipped on the 11th so it should have gotten to its destination by now. There was some edible stuff in there that could turn to goo if it sits too long :( . I hope the person did get it and I just missed the post.

I didn't get to read all the posts I missed but I did get some snippets in ;) . Nucpharm,
I'm so glad the Matthew is doing better. You must have been so worried.

Tamie,
Thanks so much for the cute e-card for my birthday :) . That was so thoughtful of you.

Jill,
I hope you are feeling better soon.

Robin,
I must have missed the hulabaloo about Disney changing the menus. My kids certainly ate their share of fries, nuggets, and pizza when we were there last month.

Gems,
I pm'd you my info for the exchange. Thanks for organizing.

zalansky,
sorry you are having to deal with your nutty MIL :( . She sounds like a real piece of work. Who throws a phone at a woman holding their grandchild ??!

Hi to Justhat, J&D, Tasha, Lissawynn, Fabumouse, GM, GLT, Dizagain, BnB mom, Hillbeans, FF, SL, and everyone  .

We did the pumpkin patch thing this weekend but unfortunately my camera software isn't hooked up into this computer yet. We decorated the pumpkins with the mr. potato head sets from Target. They look so cute. I just love this time of year when the weather is cooler and leaves change.

There's nothing much interesting going on here. I've been sick for a few days so I've been trying to get some extra rest when I can. My grandfather is still waiting to find out what his treatment options are for his liver cancer. My dh is taking him on Friday for and MRI and he will go back and discuss things with the doctor next week. I hope he is around for the holidays but it's not looking good right now :( .

Well, that's about all from me. I hope everyone has a good night.

Val,

I think the person you sent the package to did get it. I think she posted when she received it. I'm sure she'll let you know if she sees your post.

Val- post again! You will have 4,000 posts! :cool1:

I am sorry about your grandfather- and that you are not feeling good. Are you still working at the sandwich shop? How is that going?

And I feel like I remember someone receiving your package- did you send stuff from WDW in it?

FF- SCARY about the box cutter falling on your son! I would have been so irked. But yay that you had enough Pampers Points to order Kona the trike! That's great!

SL- that is so strange that ANOTHER person quit! Not good, not good. Is your headache any better? Hope so... :grouphug:

GLT- did you decide to take the kids to the hotel?

Tamie- how did the decorating go? What color did you paint?

Nuc- score at TRU! I even wrapped the stuff I ordered from Hasbro yesterday (otherwise my kids WILL find it, unless I buried it in the ground!). But I still have a ways to go I guess. I am hoping to get the new Galactic Heroes that are supposed to come out in the next few weeks for Joshua (but they are HARD to find sometimes). If I can find them, even if I have to pay a bit more, I will be done with him. Sam is so hard having his bday and Christmas so close. I'm seriously thinking of just getting $30 or so of Disney Dollars for his bday in addition to the two gifts we bought him, and calling it good.

My eyes are still horrific. The drops help the scratchy feeling, but not the redness. My kids didn't get it this bad, thank God.

I didn't take Sam to soccer practice- I just couldn't deal with it, and once again, DH won't be home til 7. He is bringing me home some soup and noodles from our favorite Chinese place, so I'm not too bent out of shape.

Hope all the mommies are OK!
