The Official New Mom Thread Part 2

Robin,

Your post gave me an idea.

Mommies,

Feel free to post if there is a particular toy, item, etc. that you can't find for Christmas. Maybe we can all be on the lookout for hard to find things.

I should have bought 10 Elmos when I was in WalMart last month. They were all just sitting there. :confused3

Our population tends to be a bit older down here so some stuff is rather easy to find.

Yay 4000 posts :cool1: . I didn't notice that, Robin :) .

FF,
I went back and found the post where Diskim got her package. Thanks :wizard: . I was just imagining what that box of fudge would look like after sitting around for a week.

Robin,
Sorry about the pink eye (I just went back and found that post). These things always seem to be harder on adults than kids.

I have most of the shopping for my kids done. For Katrina I got some play food, a soft baby doll and carrier, Mrs. Potato head, some My Little Ponys (but I will confiscate the choking hazard brush), a little piano, some really cute princess board books, a Lumpy purse, some clothes and I'm sure more stuff I'm forgetting. DS got the create your own lightsaber, Ben 10 action figures, some of the I spy books, a neat bubble making kit where you can make giant bubbles, underwear (it wouldn't be Christmas without new skivvies  ) and again more stuff I'm forgetting. I still want to get Katie one of those plush kid chairs and a jewelry box. I still want to get DS his own digital camera. I guess Fisher Price came out with one but it's hard to find. We'll see.

Okay, I guess I should go clean the kitchen. Talk to you all later.

:confused3 :confused3 I thought I posted a quick message earlier in the day, but don't see it anywhere, very strange.

I'm waiting for the go ahead from DH before I book the room. I'm not sure how long they will have that special for, but the day I was thinking of was Oct. 29 -- the other down side, I would probably pull DD from school that Monday so that we can play in the water park more (though I wouldn't have to do that as she could go to school....). The logical side of my brain says no. So we shall see. ..

Ginamarie - somehow knowing you are eating hot dogs at Shea Stadium makes me feel better!! I wish I was there with you, but knowing you are there makes the game even more exciting for me. I hope you are cheering extra loudly for me!

Robin - you bought AND wrapped presents, oi, I am wayyyy behind you. I usually shop the days before xmas  The whole exchange package is gonna kick me in gear wayyyy earlier than I'm used to. Feel better soon. I think your cake decision is totally acceptable, and a lot less stressful.

Zalansky - what a great job on the TRU stuff. I wish I wouldn't mind the 55 minute drive to get to ours. But for some reason that seems so far away. I had gift cards that I didn't even get to use because I didn't get out there :guilty: Everyone already said what I was going to, so good luck with Conner! :wizard:

val - so sorry about your grandfather :grouphug: that's so hard. Also, I hope you feel better soon. :wizard:

FF - good luck speaking with DH :grouphug: congrats on getting the trike, that's great! and holy cow about the box cutter falling, eeks. Good thing he was okay!

SL - I am right there with you on the sinus headache front, I hope you can takes some meds and feel better! Good luck with the work situation.

Staci - don't worry about catching up, just jump in when you can. No one here will hold it against you! There's a find group of ladies here. What a neat story about how you came about with dd's name -- ours are family variations as well, but not quite as creative as yours!

Fab - HI! A friend of mine did that for me last year with the whole parenting thing, which probably means my subscription will be up soon (December, I think). PM me if you still have an opening and I may take advantage, if you don't mind.

dizagain - I think you are ok with the heating blanket, esp. if you take it out so it's not in there all night. What a neat idea, I'd never thought of that before.

Diskim - I hope you were able to get your lesson plans done. Tedious work is never my favorite either.

justhat, cabmom, ryan, bnb, bellacam, disneyphd, gems & all the other mom's I missed - HELLO! Have a great evening.

Great idea FF!

Here are the Galactic Heroes that are either JUST released or going to be released in a week or too- if anyone finds these ones, I will GLADLY pay you for them!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The two packs are usually $6. The 'cinema' packs are new, but I imagine they are about $20. I would be forever grateful if anyone found these for me- trust me, I will be looking here too! I found a website that sells them for about a 25% markup. I would rather just luck into them at Kmart or Target though!

Zalansky - no new advice from me, but maybe you could offer to buy a box of the Kandoo wipes for the classroom and some refills? My son is almost 6 and we've had our share of bathroom issues - not exactly what you're going through, but bathroom issues none the less. I think it's pretty unusual for every 3 year old to be capable of going all day every day without bathroom accidents and incidents. I can understand their rule about not wiping kid's bottoms, but at least they can do the next best thing by providing a change of clothes and wipes.

FF - Unfortunately one of my best friend's marriages just broke up due to a work affair that her husband was having with someone at his office.

While I have not gone through something with my DH and someone at his job, I can tell you that there was a mutual friend of both of ours who started paying way too much attention to my husband a few years ago. It was uncomfortable and very upsetting. I hope everything turns out ok for you and your DH.

Oh, and I just used my 80 Pampers Points to order a Lego set for Liam.

Nite everyone!

As I was about the seal up the invitations today I realized I had to enclose directions, which requires me to print a map with text directions on the back. Harder than you'd think. And of course my husband told Madison last night that he'd bake cupcakes with her but forgot tonight was his late call (not overnight, but he didn't get home till 8 so too late to start baking). Well I couldn't just tell her too bad so I had to do it. Not a problem but we were out of eggs so we had to walk to the store to get some, at 5pm when she brought up the baking. I didn't mind cause she really was good today despite the lack of attention she got with me doing invites and cleaning up (Wednesday is my unofficial cleaning day), but it was just so late.

Cute story about it though. She wanted to bake cause I bought cake mix for her class social this Friday night (parents only). She thought it was for her so I bought a 2nd box to make with her. And it is our snack week at school and this week's list included eggs cause they're baking too. So I bought eggs for her class thinking I still had some of my own at home. Last night when she wanted to bake with Joey we saw we were out of eggs but she said "no we bought them at the store." We told her we gave them to her teacher for snack and so this morning she told me she'd be asking her teacher for the eggs back so she could bake at home. I thought she'd forget but when I picked her up she said "Mommy, let's get my eggs." I let her teacher break the bad news that they were for the class and she gave her an evil look but agreed to buying new ones with me.

She enjoyed her cake and unfortunately so did I and I'll be paying for it on the scale.

Alice, where do you find those Galactic Heroes and when do they come out? I'll gladly check around here for you, but not knowing any 5yo boys I have no idea where to find them.

Floridafam, no problem on the points. Glad I could help you out. The trike sounds fun and I bet Kona will love it! BTW, I checked out the Pampers site about the points and I could kick myself cause we have bought many a pack of the Easy Ups and Little Splashers but I had no idea about any points so I just threw out the packaging. Otherwise I'd have more of them to offer up. I'm pretty sure I have 1 more so if you (or anyone else) wants it let me know!

Zalansky, I know I already posted about it, but I wanted to say that we also use those wipes for Madison. We always wipe her butt too cause she's not so great at it and I find the wipes to be easier. I agree about bringing in a box and asking the teacher to leave them in the bathroom. I'm sure they'd comply with that. Also, even if the teacher can't help him wipe (which I understand) can't they at least change him out of his dirty clothes? I think it's terrible to make a little boy sit in soiled pants till he gets home. Gosh, I feel so bad for him cause he must be really scared about using the school potty and not being able to wipe himself and not getting any help then having to stay in dirty clothes. The poor little guy! :grouphug:

Vald, sorry that you don't have good news about your grandfather. I hope he makes it through the holidays too. My father and grandmother died around Thanksgiving and Christmas (and both had birthdays then too) and I really dread that time of year now as a result. :guilty: Prayers and hugs for you. :grouphug:

I thought I'd be able to write more but I'm so tired I should go to bed. I have to bake a lot tomorrow as I'm doing desserts for the social. How I got suckered into being a room parent again I'll never know. Luckily for me the host of the social is a really laid back, normal mom who has "ordered" me not to make anything elaborate since I have an infant. She said stick to cookies, brownies, etc. so that's what I'll be doing! ;) Now, if only I can find something to wear that looks decent and fits.... Oh, and new shoes since mine were sunblocked.

Evening ladies! Which is very different from Ladies of the Evening.

:teeth:

Oh, BTW, not that you have to keep it up, but thank you all for mentioning that I make you laugh - I often hope my silly sense of humor is at least understood, even if not totally appreciated. :thumbsup2

Anyhow - great but busy day here. Went walking with a friend who has a 3 month old, so they communed by sleeping in the Baby Bjorns and giving each other sleepy eyes.

MIL sent me an e-mail asking us to come to Oregon this spring. And as much as I'd like to visit Robin, :teeth: , I'm just not okay with the fact my FIL walked out of my house without saying goodbye and hasn't called in a month (on top of a zillion issues we have). I counter-offered with a neutral territory (my crazy SIL's in Ohio - we'd stay in a hotel) and haven't heard back. I mean - this guy won't clean up the dog doo in his *very nice* yard before my daughter visits, because "that's your problem".

Am I crazy to expect that my 4 year old could walk on the grass in the summer?

Tkyes - Tyler slept through Philharmagic?? I'll give you money for that secret! :rolleyes1

Z - I think your FIL should feel great about his relationship with your kids - I know you feel guilty that he has to come to you, but unlike my MIL, he doesn't have to fly across the country. And I love that grocery cover!

Hey - I clicked on that link, thinking it lead to the grocery cover maker - and wow, you are one lovely family!!! If you like the cover, can you pass on her info?

Robin - is that little shop (in Liberty Square that has caramel corn) the one on the right if you're walking toward the Boat and Haunted Mansion, and from outside you can see candy?? How is your poor eye?

dizagain - I'm sorry about your crazy schedule - Kailey is taking dance once a week and we are in negotiations about another class. But I wouldn't want to do much more.

Kailey is feeling better - thank you so much for asking. She's a little irritable, but no longer sending out gallons of snot.

BnB - here. :mickeybar That is just wrong!!! I eat them for breakfast when I'm at WDW. Thank you on the horse information - I will seriously take it to heart. I think it's just an enchantment *for now*.

Gems - good luck on the bonus!!!!

Ginamarie - that's what I loved about my job - the people I needed affadavits from - they needed ME to litigate their cases (i.e., OSHA compliance officers need someone to actually stand up in court). So, we all needed to cooperate nicely. And they were afraid of me. That helped. :teeth:

OMG- I about spit out my tea over "there's too many freggin cars in this parking lot". :lmao: :lmao:

Tasha - I love your Kylie and Crush story - that is so sweet! And you have WAY too much to do. :guilty: I hope your load eases soon.

And YAY for your dh!!! Lucky guy. Hope he enjoyed the game.

Kim - I'm so sorry Aiden threw up. Kailey does that at the drop of a hat - most recently because a friend was licking the window. What can I say? :confused3 It makes her gag. I would hate for her to be sent home over it. And age 10 for pony riding sounds GREAT! Those horses do seem awfully large to me.

Justhat - I hope things are going better. :goodvibes And don't you think it's funny that the TF hasn't given you a tag, but keeps messing with your colors? You say funny stuff all the time - and I keep waiting for it to be reflected. But at least, you are noticed. ;)

Robin - that "I have a hot dog in my PURSE" made me snort. :lmao:

GLT - you MUST rent that room and water park!! :Pinkbounc

Hillbeans- but don't you think it's so painful to be me??? Everyone on the Disboards is congratulating themselves over being part of the 2%. And I'm . .. just part of the 98% herd. <sigh> :teeth: Baaaaaaaaa.

FF - I've never seen the upside down show. :confused3 Oooooh, nevermind. Glad I don't have any television reception.

SL - I'm so sorry about the headache - it sounds painfull.

Val - good to see you. :wave2:

Hey - did anyone give an answer to where to buy the Mickey Crocs??

:surfweb:

Hi all!

I'm soooo tired! But, of course you ladies come before my beauty sleep ;)

DH and Tyler are gone to visit DH's uncle for the weekend so I am a lady of leisure. Of course I have to get up even earlier than normal because dumb me made a 7 am dentist appt. tomorrow morning.

Decorating the playroom went well. The walls were a medium blue color and I painted large polka dots in red, blue, brown, and orange. Then in some of the circles I stamped letters. I'll take a picture some time and show you. My camera is on it's way to Wisconsin though so I'll have to do it next week.

ff - Good idea on the helping eachother out. Yes, I've had the feeling that someone was flirting with my husband at work. I chatted with my husband about it, men are totally oblivious to women flirting with them, so it's good to bring it to their attention. I also do try and make occassional visits to my husband's work. I pick him up for lunch or just stop in with Tyler to say hi. I think it's good to make people (i.e. flirty girls) aware that yes, he is married and quite happily thank you very much.

fabumouse - I wish I had a great secret I could tell you. Tyler was only 9 months old and really tired. I covered him with a blanket and rocked him. I was shocked when he fell asleep!

robin - Sorry to hear about your eye and over all yuckiness. I'm sorry you had a rough trip to costco too. I'm not ready for the "I want" when we run errands yet. Thanks for the heads up on the Costco stuff. Sorry about the hot dog in yoru purse ;) lol!

justthat - What a good mommy you are with the cupcakes!

zalansky - Poor Connor! I get why they can't really help out, but there has to be something they can do. The wipes are a good idea. I would call and talk to someone higher up before approaching a teacher about bringing the wipes. They might automatically say no.

val - More prayers for your FIL. I bet your pumpkins are adorable!

sl - They are just dropping like flies at your office! wow! Sorry to hear you aren't feeling well.

diz - I think the heating blanket thing is fine. I've read that tip about warming up the crib and then taking it out.

Hi to everyone I missed.

What did you all think of Project runway? I think I would have been happy with any of them. They all did a great job.

Talk to you all tomorrow!

Tamie

Well it was so hot that I couldn't sleep so I decided uploading photos was the best use of my time.

Note my shoe. :furious:
ec777c32.jpg
This was about halfway through the cleaning process. The shoes on the mat were cleaned at this point, with the ones on the left still sunblocked. Well, besides the ruined one. You can see where she was sitting during her "craft".

one of the many slides at the patch-really, the place is more of a "slide patch" than "pumpkin patch" ;)

Disregard the dirty mouth and nose.
ec76478a.jpg
looking so happy today after a very grouchy day yesterday

I think that's enough to bore everyone. I think I hear the small fry rousing in his bed. Maybe I can wake him to feed him now then get to sleep.

Glad my hot dog comment made you snort. If it makes it any funnier, it was actually a polish with mustard & relish on it in my DOONEY purse- what the he** was I thinking? By some miracle I didn't spill the mustard or relish in it.

I don't think the Disney Crocs question has been answered yet. I want some!

Yes, as you are looking at Liberty Square from the Hub, go across the little bridge and it's a window counter right on the right- I think it's called Sleepy Hollow.

My eyes are still killing me, and I'm thinking I may have strep- how the heck many times does an adult woman get strep in one year? This will at least be my third time if I do have it. I swear I should take a picture of my eyes to shock and awe all of you.

justhat- I usually find those Galactic Heroes in the Star Wars section of the toy dept in Target, Walmart, Kmart, Toys R Us....and I have found them in some small Toy Shops too. I just know the release date is 'sometime in October' and since they aren't on the Hasbro website yet, I'm assuming it hasn't happened yet. There is a fancy toy shop in an oo-la-la mall downtown that I have found tons of them at before; maybe I will call them and inquire if they are getting some.

That's too funny about Madison and the eggs at school! What a nice mommy you are to make her cupcakes.. :cloud9:

Tamie- so jealous of your leisurely weekend! I can't complain too much. DH is taking soccer duty both days, taking the boys to the science museum on Saturday to see a Star Wars display, and I get to go to the spa on Sunday for my longawaited facial and pedi.

GM- how was the game? I am bad about my kids saying 'freakin' cause I say it too. Better than the alternative, no? My older son said, "Mom, I am not going to say funky anymore (a word DH and I use often) because it would be too easy to say the really bad word if I get mixed up." So true son, so true. :rotfl:

Anyone else RIVETED to Lost tonight! Wow! So, did Locke's whole sequence happen after he and Helen broke up & got hit by a car? I'm a little confused on that part...and the tonka truck in the bear cave? And skeleton's with Dharma tshirts? And this whole de ja vu thing with Hurley, Desmond and Locke? This show just kills me! I need a guidebook or something!

Val- sounds like you got some great shopping done already! WTG! :thumbsup2

Well, I'm still feeling yucky. To top it all off, I had to collect my urine all day for a kidney stone thing/analysis. And I had to keep the jug in the fridge. Ew. Molly kept thinking it was a jug of juice and would point to it and gesture that she wanted it. Ah, noo...............and she threw a FIT when I got out the real juice and poured that! My point of that lovely tale, is that I have to go to the doctor's clinic tomorrow to drop my 'jug' off at the lab....if my throat still hurts, I may get swabbed for strep- WTHeck! I am already going to be there, might as well.I took some motrin and I am feeling a bit better as far as the throat goes. Eyes are still the same.

Night!

ETA- cute pics Justine! Molly wore the same dress today! Love the ones of the mess- now I am having deja vu! I'm sorry about your shoe! :guilty:

Quick post before work!!

Robin - I read on the budget board that the little Disney thingies that you put in the holes of your crocs are out, but I have not read that the Disney Crocs are out yet. I'll let you know if I hear anything.

FF - On the subject of hard to find toys, I am trying to find 2 Elmos. I really don't care if I don't find one for Aidan but my friend's DD is 2 and really wants one. I'd love to be her hero :teeth: .

Justhat - Wow, slides at a pumpkin patch! My kids would go nuts over that. The sunblock looks pretty bad. Madison and Henry are so cute. He is getting so big!

Tamie - The playroom sounds awesome! You are so creative!

Val - The snacks were all in perfect condition :thumbsup2. Again, thanks so much for the package. We enjoyed everything.

OK, I have to bolt. I've been so tired that I actually fell asleep during Lost last night. Thank goodness I recorded it! DH got a call from the president of the college he interviewed with. He'll be calling back today, but I'm a little nervous. If he gets a job offer, it's going to be major decision making time and I have enough stress as it is. OK, gotta go!

ack, Leif was up at 5 a.m. today, and that's after feeding at 12:15 last night. I REALLY would like more sleep (I didn't go to bed until around 11). sooooo sleepy. And now DS is up early too. Could prove to be a long day. At least DS is playing with Leif so I can catch up for a bit (with just some minor interuptions).

Robin - I don't even own a pair of crocs yet, I feel so out of style. DH did give me a go ahead on the room so I'm gonna go over there and try to book it this morning, if it's still available (you have to pay upfront so I wanna go pay cash). What rotten luck about getting sick AGAIN. Maybe if the eye's not getting better with the drops you should have that checked along with with the strep. And what a PITA about the urine collection. I hope all checks out okay! :wizard: :grouphug:

GM - I'm awaiting the exciting details of the game, YEAH mets! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Justhat - what an artist Madison is, maybe you should enroll her in art classes (do they have toddler art by you? The local arts center has some here and the kids seem to enjoy it, and then you don't have to clean the mess ;) ). LOVe the photos. Never seen a p-patch with slides before, I'm sure the kids enjoy it. And looks like your DH did too :goodvibes The last pic of Madison and Henry in your post is too adorable, I say use it for a Christmas card.

Tkyes - A whole weekend childless? What will you do with yourself? Can't wait to see pics of the playroom, it sounds adorable! Ick about the dentist, I still have to find one (don't know if you remember but mine kicked me out :lmao: )

Speaking of Christmas cards, I just made three different appointments for Sears (I wanna try to do the $9.99 package). One for Leif, I never did get his 1 year photos, one for all three of them, and one for a family shot. I HATE that place, but unless I book a professional photographer there are no other choices close by.

DisKim - I hope you were able to get some good sleep! :wizard: Good luck on DH's phone call from the school. Sounds like they may be interested.

fabumouse - I rather enjoyed your humor :teeth: Neutral territory sounds like a good idea to me! Smart thinking :thumbsup2

hillbeans - yeah on the logo set! I hardly have any points as I havne't been brand loyal to pampers, I've been preferring Huggies and Target brand for Leif as I need the tummy stretch for it to fit Leif properly. Kinda bummed though, I love getting free stuff.

Val - wow on the 4000 posts! I was happy that I'm at over 500! :rotfl:

Morning DIS moms. I hope you all have a great day!

Hi ladies. I'm so far behind and will attempt to catch up today, if that's possible. I have been exhauseted these last few days and have been going to bed before 9. Jimmy is wearing me out. Also, I'm trying to get our house semi-organized before we move. I still have packing to do and will "try" to finish this weekend. Our contractor is going to put the support beam in sometime next week, so we'll be out of the house. I won't have any net access at night, so I'll have to make a point of trying to "see" you all during the day.

I still have a sore throat, which kind of bothers me. I'm going to call my dr (family dr) and see if she can see me next week. I don't want this turning into something that's going to knock me out again. I also have to go to the dentist today. I am not looking forward to that. Tomorrow one of our cats is going to the vet for shots. I am worried that he's too fat for the carrier. Other than that, nothing new to report.

I hope you and the kiddies are doing well. Hope to see you later today!

Morning ladies! Hoping to get this post in before Matthew wakes up.

GLT--go for it booking the room! How fun!

val--score on the 4000 posts--and did you notice that your 4000th post was this thead's 10,000th post as well! Pretty cool!!

lissawyn--hope you start to feel better!

tkyes--a weekend with no children!!!! WooHoo!! Please post a picture of the playroom!

alice-so jealous of your spa day! And I'll keep my eye out for those toys for you!

diskim--will keep a look out for the Elmo as well!

justhat--What cute pics! Madison is getting so big! Can't believe the sunscreen though--I guess I should've taken pics of when Emma smeared Desitin all over my comforter. What a nice mom you are to bake the cupcakes!

fab--How dare you expect a child to walk on the grass in the summer! What does he think-barefoot on the hot asphault would be a better alternative than scooping dog poo???

Okay, I think my time has expired--will chat later!!

Morning, Gals!

Before I forget, I have looked the Disney Crocs at "nofeargear.com". I have no idea how to post it as a link. :confused3 Anyway, they just show the Mickey ones, but I am thinking they will have others like Pooh, Tink, and Princess ones for sure. I'm not quite sold on the "two-tone" look, but they are growing on me and I still want some! Originally they were to be out in October which is why I started looking, but now they say they'll be out some time in November.

I have to take Carson in for his two-month checkup today. DH has bailed on me - he has to be at a meeting - and so I have to dry the tears (his AND mine) on my own. The girls get a half-day today for some unknown reason so they'll be here to help comfort him when we get home.

Robin - hope you feel better! Glad you get to get the "fake juice" out of the fridge so Molly doesn't have to be tortured!

lissawynn - good luck with the packing and shuffling around. I hope you can finally get to feel better very, very, soon. Happy thoughts for you and the dentist - I don't handle that very well myself.

glt - Maybe Leif will crash for awhile for you. Glad the little mini get-away is a go! You guys will have a blast! I need to make a picture appt. as well - I need some pics of Carson or he will feel neglected some day when he sees all of the zillions I had done of the girls!

diskim - Hoping you and DH find the answers you are looking for and can make plans!

justhat - OMG, those pictures are priceless!!! I have been telling DD's of Madison's antics. Lately they haven't thought I'm so strange to have "computer friends" and the LOVE looking at all the pictures. Of course, they have special fondness for our fellow August babies! Anyway, great new pictures - it's amazing how grown up Henry is...Carson is too.

tykes - HAPPY WEEKEND to you!!! Make sure you do something a little more fun than visiting the dentist!

fabumouse - Sounds like meeting the fam half-way is a good idea. I'm not going to even ask about your SIL's house.....I trust you, go for the hotel!

Val - Wow - 4,000 posts... :worship: :grouphug: Sorry about your grandfather.

Well, Carson is absolutely screaming his head off now, guess I need to go be a mommy. Finish up later!

Val - I ordered the Fisher Price digital camera for my nephew two days ago from Wal-Mart.com. The day before it was on backorder, but they have it in stock now.

Robin - I hope you feel better soon! I managed to get an appointment for Mon at 3:15 to see what's going on with my throat. I just don't want to keep waking up every morning with a sore throat.

justthat - For some reason I can't see your pics on this computer. I'll have to take a look at home.

Tamie - Enjoy your weekend! I can't wait to see pics of your playroom. I have to decide what we're going to do with Jimmy's new room once our addition is done. I love those 1950s style sheets and comforters that Target carries. They have the cowboys and stuff on them.

GLT - I hope you can make your ressies!

dizagain - I've never seen Disney Crocs. I love the Crocs that I have. I have a pair of the flip-flops, too. They are super comfy and can be cleaned in the dishwasher.

DisKim - I hope things work out with your husband's job. Keep us posted on what's happening.

fabumouse - I hope you can work out your plans to visit the ILs. We are constantly cleaning up our yard. Who would want a child playing in a yard like that?

I bought a new pair of sneakers from FFANY Shoes on Sale last night. I got the pink Nautralizer suede and mesh one. I have two pairs and couldn't pass up a new pair for 50% off.

I also got my Gymbo stuff yesterday. I haven't opened anything, but the girl clothes are very cute. I even bought the matching hat, which I swore I wouldn't ever do. We also got Jimmy's Elmo tool bench, tool belt, and Little People school bus. The stuff is adorable and I can't wait for him to play with it.

I'm kinda bummed out that we probably won't be in our house for Christmas, or if we are back in the house, I may not have time to put up our tree. I love sitting in the dark and looking at the tree all lit up. I know the house will be great when it's done, but I'll miss spending the holidays at home with my house all decorated.

Gotta run! The students are arriving soon!

Hi all!

Just a quick post to say that all of the exchange PMs have gone out now so you should all have your buddies now.

I haven't had a chance to read everyone's posts but I just wanted to say Hi!! :)

Hi mommies! I am so completley miserable with this cold it's not funny! Aidan only had one bad day but I can not seem to get rid of it. I have resorted to taking Benadryl the minute dh gets home and have been in bed by 7 the last few nights. I just feel awful. I only have a minute so I hope everyone is well!

Welcome Staci!!!! Don't worry about keeping up - it seems I never can these days, either!

Oh yeah - I've had to start ignoring my own signature. The baby countdown is starting to FREAK me out. Where did my months go????? I am down to 40 days because my c-section is scheduled for 5 days before my due date!!!!!Who's idea was it not to find out what we are having? It has been impossible to fully prepare since "Gender Neutral" clothing does not exist in the stores I've visited. I had to resort to doing a registry of both girl and boy stuff that dh can go and buy once we've met the new little one.

Fab- What area of Portland do your in laws live? Did you tell me Lake Oswego once? That's ringing a bell, but I can't remember. I can understand you not wanting to come clear across the country to visit a FIL who is being a jerk-face, even if MIL is an angel..If he does live in 'Lake O' I cannot believe he wouldn't have some Scarlet Letter emblazened across his home for not scooping his poop- that is a very ritzy area!

Kim & lissa- I have a grammar question for you....Sam is doing basic grammar homework, and I am having a brain lapse in what a predicate is....he's doing basic subject (remember that) and predicate stuff- is the predicate describing what the subject is doing? There were no examples or anything on his HW and I was just feeling so stupid trying to remember.

Thanks

Kim- I will definitely be on the lookout for an Elmo- just watch- between all of us we are going to find like 32 Elmos for you! :rotfl:

My eyes feel better this morning- still yucky, but the one that was infected first is starting to look a smidge better than the other one. And my throat only hurts a little, so I'm ruling out strep- it would have been worse this morning had than been it. Phew! I am SO TEMPTED to go somewhere the second Josh gets on the bus----guess what opened at the Outlets, about 30 minutes from here-----------------------GYMBOREE! I have been in one before in CA, and it was nothing great (as Z has mentioned) but how can I not go?

lissawynn- trust me, Gymboree will suck you in.....I was only SELDOMLY a hat matcher with my boys, but that girl stuff is just a whole new thing....I think they put opium or something in their store or hypnotics on the website. I've been so good lately, it's almost scary. I have spent $32 in the last 6-8 weeks. Amazing.

I am sorry you probably won't get to spend Christmas in your house this year- just think though- next year you can go NUTS decorating all that extra space! I'm excited to have DH home this year! Last year, although we were spoiled rotten with gifts, gift cards, etc., it was bittersweet.

Oh, and have I said lately how HAPPY I AM that he's not OVER THERE! All those killings lately near Balad, Iraq? That's where he was!!!!!!!!!!!! There is a huge airbase right in Balad that they are referring to on the news- that was his base. It makes me sick thinking about it, so I don't. Call me Ostrich, I don't care.

I signed up with some trial offers on Sunshine again....haven't done that in awhile. I need to write on my calendar when to cancel so I do not forget! I'm kind of pleased with myself because on the Gymbo boards, you can put sign-up referral links in your siggie, as it's a private board....I think I have rec'd 3-4 referrals by doing that! :cheer2: I wrote out our dining estimated costs last night, and I don't think it will be as bad as I think, as we are just not wanting to do as much sit down this trip. When we went for 10 days in 2003, I think we ended up spending $1,000 on food. :scared1: But this trip so far we only have Whispering Canyon and Hoop Dee Doo (which I already paid for) down with the kids. Probably Kona once and maybe somewhere in the World Showcase. I have gift cards for Benihana and Rain Forest, and hopefully will have enough to pay for either CA Grill or Narcoossee's with my Sunshine money. :teeth: It's nice that we have the van this time, so if we want to go off-site to Chevy's or something, we can.

Anyway, I am just happy this morning because I am feeling a bit better. Hope everyone else is doing great!

Good morning. I'm feeling much better today. I'm hoping to get out to Old Navy and Target this afternoon. Lucas is in desperate need of more fall clothes. I'm doing laundry twice a week for him and I can't keep up.

justhat - Glad you realized you need to include directions BEFORE you sealed the envelopes. That is some mess with the suncreen.

fabumouse - Glad Kailey is feeling better.

tkyes - Enjoy your solo weekend.

Alice28 - I've had to do the urine collection jug before. Unfortunately, it was a weekend DH's friend was over. "Sure, help yourself to anything in the fridge except the orange jug, now excuse me while I take it in the bathroom with me." :rotfl2:

glt - I hope the deal is still available when you go to book it.

bellacam - I can't believe how close you are! I hope you feel better soon.

dizagain - Good luck at the checkup.

val - Congrats on the post count! :cheer2:

lissawynn - Aw, that's too bad that you may not be able to decorate your house this year. You'll have to make up for it next year for sure.

Sorry, gotta run. Lucas got into the paper shredder basket (unplugged!) and is strewing shredded paper all around the dining room. I really need to hide that thing.
