The Official LOST Season Five *No Spoilers* Thread

Forgive me if y'all have already seen this but I freaked when I was looking through lostipedia-
This is Thomas, Aaron's Father

What if Ben went into the future and is Aaron's Dad?
Or what if Ben has a son who looks like him?

What if Thomas is Ben's son with Annie??

While you cannot deny the similarities of Thomas and Ben, I do not think they are related. Ben has been on the island since a small boyu. And while he has left the island from time to time to tend to 'business' I do not think he is the type to have relations while working. He just seems so focused on whatever his objective is at the moment. He is not easily distracted and a woman, to me, would seem to be a huge distraction from his work.
JMO.

Ben did tell him. Remember last season, when they were all in that house (Sawyer, Locke, Claire, Hurley); they had Ben with them and I think they had just become aware of Keamy and his men. Ben gave them all this info. about the freighter people and they were doubting him; he told them it was all true because he had a spy on the boat - Michael.
Thanks for reminding me. I totally forgot about that. :headache:
I believe it is confirmed that they are now currently in the swinging 70's. Yeah Baby!:rotfl:
How was it confirmed? Or where you joking?

What if Thomas is Ben's son with Annie??

Okay, now you are just making my brain hurt!! :rotfl:

Here is a picture of the van that Hurley and Charlie were driving around.

Not a good shot of it, but you can see that it looks new and clean.

Oh, I love Ben!:lovestruc He is one of those guys you love to hate. He is one of the best characters ever created for a television series, hands down. And not only is he a cold hearted sob, he is a master manipulator. There is deceit behind everything he says and does.

I totally agree!!! He is a fantastic actor to have created this character. But it's kinda like Clarke Gable for me - what???? I can't watch Clarke Gable as anything but Rhett Butler, and I won't be able to watch Michael Emerson as anything but Ben. Betcha never thought Ben could be compared to Rhett Butler, huh? :rotfl2:

OMG! I'm totally freaking out over this possibility!!!

I think Ben is about to learn he is not the savior of the island, he's only a disciple- a follower, to help things along. Ben doesn't want to be a follower, he want's to be God.

I'm worried about Vincent :( Isn't he jumping through time with everyone else? We know the jumps affect animals the same way as humans because of Daniel's rat :(

There have been so many Biblical references this season and you summed it up so well! :thumbsup2

As for poor Vincent, it's always the animals I worry about! Even though this is just a TV show.....:sad2:

I saw this question on another LOST forum, & I was curious as to what you guys thought about it.

In season 4, Daniel is seem in his living room crying & upset as he watched about the finding of (fake) flight 815 in the ocean. Why?

Never could figure out the significance of that scene. There was also a woman in the background, fixing a meal for him, wasn't there? Maybe Eloise?

And, I love the Ben character too. So dimensional - one minute I'm hating him; next, he's cracking me up. That Michael Emerson NEEDS to win an Emmy for this role!

Maybe because he felt some guilt over the deaths? Afterall, he knows about the time travel and maybe he feels he could have warned about this? But someone is keeping him quiet? :confused3

Haven't read all the posts yet...but why are some of you assuming that the folks on the 'little' island are in the present day and not in the past like the rest of the people? Why would the original others and the Dharma people have facilities there, if the two islands weren't 'connected'? Also, since Jin (who was way out by the freighter) jumed though time...why wouldn't the little island too?

:confused3

So, the entire plane whent though the while light/time shift. The 'island' picked who it wanted there and then the plane crashed on the little island?

I keep wondering is its really Walt they saw, or if Walt was just a manifestation of smokey or something :confused3
Lostpedia calls it a manifestation of Walt.

Never could figure out the significance of that scene. There was also a woman in the background, fixing a meal for him, wasn't there? Maybe Eloise?
On the show with the pop-ups at the bottom it calls her his 'caretaker'. Her face was never shown. I wonder why he needed a caretaker. And I wonder if they didn't show her face for a reason, maybe we already know her?

Thats a good point and one that I haven't even thought of. I guess I just assumed that some jumped into the 70's because it showed the flash of light and the noise followed by them disappearing. If they all jumped to the same time then I would assume that they all would have jumped together.

I can't wait until next week! It already has a name - LaFleur - but I don't know what that means. I am still hoping to see a 50 year old Widmore and young Ben in the 70's.

Maybe because he knew that no one would be looking for survivors any longer. Once the plane was found, the investigation would be over.

Are there any pictures of the scene with Daniel crying and the woman in the background cooking?

OK, I just saw a weird theory over on another site - is it possible that Daniel is his own father based on the time travel? We know he met Ellie when he jumped BACK in time, and if in fact Ellie IS Eloise Hawking?

EEEEWWWWWWWWW!! :scared1:

I don't understand why everyone thinks they flashed into the 70's.

I believe the van is the one that Hurley got running and Jin is dressed in the uniform because he found it somewhere. He needed new clothing after floating around in the ocean.

This show makes me crazy!!!!

But when we saw Jin with the van, the van looked brand new and not 30 years old. I think that is why.

Man, I love this show and then reading everyone's thoughts!!! :)

Because the Dharma station looks old and abandoned. If the Dharma was still there (aka 70's) wouldn't it be functioning normally and filled with workers?

Yeah, that's what I thought too. But why? I mean, he didn't have any personal connection to the plane.

The van is brand new and shiny, the van Hurley recovered was old & rusty. Which leads us to think they're somwhere in the 70's.

And, he was walking around in those wet clothes for a while, so why wouldn't we have tried to find clothes before that if they were bothering him?

Is anyone else wondering how Jin got the dharma van and the gun? Have they been there so long that they took Dharma jobs? Or did he kill some Dharma employees. We know that Daniel also worked for Dharma during the 70's because we saw him in the underground mine when they discovered the donkey wheel. So does that mean everyone in his group are Dharma employees?

I can just see Sawyer now in the Dharma jumpsuit :rotfl2:

DH and I just watched the episode last night - SO MANY QUESTIONS! I love watching and then reading this thread. :goodvibes

My first question is - After Ben had talked Locke off the table, did anyone else catch Ben's reaction when Locke said that Jin was alive? He looked shocked and his voice kinda squeaked. Everything kinda blurs together and I can't keep this show straight - but was it Ben who blew up the freighter? Or maybe he looked so shocked because he knew that by taking the ring, it would be the perfect bait to get Sun back to the island?

Eloise seems to be neutral between Ben and Whitmore....I don't recall her seeming surprised to see Ben show up with the rest of the crew. So, I don't think Ben needed the information from Locke about who to go see - I think he truly knew. I think he waited to kill Locke to see if Locke knew - how much information had Whitmore passed onto Locke? That sort of thing.

Regarding the timeline...
Ben arrived when he was young on the island, and his Dad hated him. Whitmore was there and the leader of the "Others" (not Dharma). I wonder if Whitmore became a father figure of sorts to Ben, and then convinced Ben to kill all of Dharma (when did that happen, was Ben still fairly young?), including his Dad, and he could have power with their crew. (Which might have all been a big lie, just getting someone to get rid of Dharma.)

I don't know how/why Whitmore would have left the island. Maybe Ben manipulated him somehow and convinced him to leave, then moved the island so Whitmore couldn't find it. And since then he's been searching for it?

Anyone ever wonder if Richard Alpert is Jacob, since he doesn't age? Richard is his "human" skin?

We were also thinking that the blond in the previews could be Penny, but where would Desmond and Charlie be? I don't think there'll be many episodes with children; they grow too fast (like Walt). Too many questions!

I think the blonde in the previews is Sawyer's Baby's Momma. He looks totally SHOCKED to see her. Maybe she was on Flight 316.... this could also explain the new female character...

Locke, Ben, Alana, the guy who spoke to Jack in the airport (Cesar??), and the other 316 survivors crashed in present-day. Cesar and Alana were shown looking through somebody's office, so we're assuming that 316 survivors crashed on the "other" island where the Others held Jack, Kate and Sawyer.

I don't know about the 316 survivors being in a different time. The Station did look old, but the magazines were from the 50s and it was in the 70s due to the van condition. Possibly Dharma had abandoned that station by then and just left it to rot? But then again, how did Daniel's maps get in there if they aren't using it....

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see why Alana and Cesar (sp?) from 316 are all so calm and obviously comfortable on the island they just crashed into. No panic or anything. Perhaps time has passed since they crashed and then her having the morning conversation with Locke on the beach? :confused3 Also, what exactly are they searching for? Cesar didn't seem surprised to find the laboratory/science station at all.

That is VERY interesting. Why are they so calm?! Maybe they are Whitmore's people...

But then why did Cesar ask Locke about Hurley not being surprised when the plane started shaking? It IS weird that they seem so calm though. Cesar looked like he was looking for something very specific in that office.

If Ceaser is assigned to be there by Whitmore (or who knows who else!), I wonder if Ceaser asked Hurley this to see what Locke knew. I agree that Ceaser did seem to be looking for something specific - he looked very determined, unlike the Losties when they would find stations - they would be wide-eyed and looking around.

Also,
If Widmore was their leader until the 80's then I think Penny was possibly born on the island. We dont know how old she is but she looks at least 30 to me. I still speculate that Eloise is Penny's mom and that Daniel Faraday is her brother.

That is VERY interesting....

Wow, long post - sorry! :goodvibes

One more post then I have to go home.

interesting...very interesting...

As soon as I saw her hair, curly blonde, I turned to DH and said "That's Sawyer's Baby's Momma!" he didn't even remember Sawyer had a child.

But, I just looked up a pic of her, Cassidy...

Cassidy-Lost.jpg

Not sure now if it's the same gal...hair can change I suppose...hmmmm...can anyone find a pic of the hair from the previews?
