*** The Official July 2014 thread, join us won't you? ***

Okay, Phew, we are there a month before you end of june/beginning of July. Lol. Of course, on our last trip, DHS was a total wash out. We went into to One Man's Dream.... we couldn't figure out why all of the sudden it got crowded, until someone opened a side door and it was pouring!!! So, most rain showers in Fl are quick, with one main exception... if the rain is part of a tropical storm. Yep, rained the rest of the day, and on a couple of other days is rained for hours at a time too. So much for the "quick" downpours at Disney. :)

On our first trip as a family, DH had a FP for ToT at DHS. The boys were only 1 and 3 at the time and I don't do thrill rides so I had told DH I would walk around with them and wait for him. He said he would text me when he got off the ride. I felt a drop as soon as we parted ways, by the ToT FP return entrance. The kids were in the double stroller so I quickly walked toward where all the stores are. I went into a store when I heard thunder, and I started looking around. My little one fell asleep in the stroller. I got a text from DH saying that the FP return line was moving slowly because one side of the ride was broken down. This was not a problem, as I was stuck inside the store anyway. My older one fell asleep too so I just browsed around the store. A whole lot of people started to crowd inside. It was pouring out. DH finally texted me that he was going on the next ride. I told him where I was. He ran to the store after he rode ToT and met up with us. The boys were still sleeping. 45 minutes had passed since the rain began.

When it seemed like it was raining lighter, we decided to make a beeline for it and we went to the car. We got pretty wet but were relieved to be going back to the hotel. We relaxed in the room for a couple of hours and then we headed to dinner at 1900 Park Fare. It was still raining, and it was pretty much a washout of an evening. We didn't have nighttime plans, but we did ride the monorail from Grand Floridian with the kids just for fun.

is there a facebook group for july 14? We were part of Dec 2013, and now May 2014 (9th-12th).. and im starting to plan another trip for July 20-25 2014 ;) :) :) :)

:welcome: to July! I will add you to the front page. Let me know where you are staying and I will add that too. There is a July 2014 facebook group. It is a closed group and you have to ask to join. I do belong to it.

We plan to stay at Pop!

What's the group name and I will send a request

I am getting very excited now! I just went on to customize my magic bands and of course I had to call the help desk. The CM that I spoke to was so very helpful. We all got the colors that we wanted and they are all different. She said they will have our individual name on them and this will make a great souvenir! As I was working on this I realized that we are at 79 days!!! Which also means that we are only 19 days out from making our FastPass + ressies. I can't even believe it is that close. OMG!!!

I KNOW!!! We are at 78 days until our trip and 18 until our FP+ ! It's so exciting!!! (I just hope the 7DMT and the new FP+ rules all get ironed out in the next few weeks so we can properly book! ;) )

Hi Bonnie! Yes, I remember you as well. I was part of the July 2012 thread when I did a Mommy-daughter trip. It was terrific! Yes, we live near Williamsburg so last year we purchased the 2 year Premium pass to Busch/SW/SP and water parks. We used it already at Williamsburg and Water Country USA several times last year and then went to SW during XMas and are excited to add Aquatica and Tampa this summer. Trying to get our money's worth while we can!! I'm adding Legoland b/c my girls will be 5 and 9 and I think that's the perfect ages for LL. However, my oldest does all the wild roller coasters and has already declared she will be bored on LL's ... so it's mostly for the 5yo, since she is tall enough to ride everything at LL. What would be your top 3 tips for LL and BG Tampa? Did you do BG's water park or SW's Aquatica? Those are all new to us and with July's heat we are really looking forward to the WP.

Busch gardens and legoland are both great! At Busch gardens, the safari ride and the Serengeti Railway were great to see a lot of the animals. We walked around a lot and looked at a lot of the animal exhibits which were really nice. The ice show, ICEploration I think it's called, was phenomenal and if they still have it, definitely go see it! That was back in 2012. There was a wild mouse type roller coaster also which my son loved, he was 7 at the time but my then 5-year-old was too small for it (but he is shorter than most of the kids in his class too). The boys also enjoyed some of the kiddie rides. It was a fun day.

I don't really have a strategy for Legoland, but we enjoyed that park. It opens at 10am, which is nice since it takes I think about 45 minutes to drive there from WDW. We first went on a ride at the front of the park, which goes all the way up so you could see the entire park. It's one of those slow moving rides, where you get to see everything in the park as it explains it all to you. We did that first so we could see everything, but I think on our upcoming trip we will skip that unless the kids really must go on it. Mini land USA is fascinating. The detail that goes into each area of the country represented is amazing. Definitely take some time to explore that area. We did this toward the end of our day there. I say rides first, exhibits later. The Ford driving school is awesome too. They have the regular one for bigger kids, and the junior one for smaller kids my little one was 5 and did the junior one, and my big one was 7 and did the regular one. This time they both get to do the regular one.

Also at Legoland, take time to stop and admire all of the fascinating things you will see around the park that are made of Legos. It truly is a unique place and I can't wait to go back!

We haven't gone to any water parks yet. My little one just learned to swim at the end of last summer, and he is still a beginner. We skip water parks for now and just go to the pool at the hotel in the afternoon with them.

I have 74 days....2 weeks from today to start FFP selections :)

Thank you to everyone for the well wishes! I am happy to report that she was able to eat her first real meal since Friday today! She got what we think was a tofu meatloaf, green beans, and mashed potatoes. The meatloaf grossed me out, but mom didn't care and scarfed it down, poor thing hasn't had real food in days lol. They've done every type of blood test you can think of, they've done several CT scans with and without dyes, and they did an MRI this morning. They still have no idea what's caused all of this. They're waiting for the results of a genetic test because one of the doctors said it may be something genetic, so we will see what happens with that. The really really good news is that they are saying if she continues to progress like she is, they're going to send her home on Friday! She's now taking the antibiotics and pain meds by mouth, and she'll have to continue the antibiotics for several weeks even after she gets home, but at least she will be HOME! We will have to check on her several times a day, totally not a problem considering she lives down the street and we're always over there, or she's always here at our house anyway. I'm just glad that things are really looking up!!!

Happy to report that DH is home and we are officially retired AF people! Woohoo.

W kept him coming home a surprise for the kids, and it went so good. They were uber surprised. Hugs and tears a plenty.

:lovestruc

yay!!!! I'm so glad he's home!!

We will be there July 6th-13th, PO-R, would love to meet some of you. I have two daughters, we have stayed there 5 or 6 times, last time 2012 stayed at BC, daughters complained about food choices, so we are back to POR. They are both FROZEN fanatics, and musical, and my oldest daughter is a music major in college. Look forward to meeting up!

Welcome! This is where we're staying as well, but a little later in the month.

A lot of people tell me we're crazy for going in the summer, and also for driving from New York. We enjoy the drive, taking our time getting there (we stay over two nights along the way). Of course we used to use the DVD player for the kids in the car, but since discovering that my almost 7-y.o. gets car sick, we can no longer do that. So we shall see how the drive goes this time. I think it will be fine though!

One of my "dreams" to do eventually is to drive around the country. I want to take a few months off, maybe we'll be retired by the time we're able to do this and time off won't matter.... anyway, I want to drive up the east coast, across the midwest and down the west coast, then make our way back to Louisiana again. I enjoy car rides for the most part. I do not enjoy them when the kids are bored, but I like to see other parts of the country! One day.....

I'm not sure if any of you use Zulily or not. Today they have a special Frozen merchandise section. It is definitely selling out fast, but I still saw some cute T-shirts. They have children and women's sizes. Feel free to check it out or ignore me. :)

Thank you!! Checking this out for my sister now!!

We're taking a day to go to Legoland as well. Initially we weren't planning on going, but DD8 saw a coupon in the back of his lego magazine and insisted we go because we had a coupon. I'm a big coupon user so I thought it was cute, I'm rubbing off on him lol. We have a late breakfast that day at Chef Mickey's though, we won't end up at Legoland until probably 12:00 or so, I hope that's not too late. I know it's putting us there in the heat of the day, but we want a day to sleep in at Disney and that was our only option.

I'm glad your mom is doing well and coming home tomorrow! We live close to my parents too...4 blocks away! My sister lives across the street from them. We see each other every day.

I would also love to drive across country. DH and I have summers off so we have the time, it's just that it's so expensive with hotels and food and gas. So next summer we will fly to California.

Legoland is great! 12pm shouldn't be too bad because the park doesn't open until 10. It's busy, but not like WDW parks are. You will enjoy it and your DD is the perfect age for it!

Thank you for the info. I'm very excited about Tampa BG since DH and I haven't been there in over 10 years. Legoland I hope is nice, too. This will prob be our one and only time. Can you see most in just one full day? When I was a kid we went to Cypress gardens so it will be neat to see if I remember the place, although I know a lot has changed.

I will put your rides and tips to good use.

When are you going? We don't have a set day yet ... We are staying 3 nights at BG, 8 nights WDW and 4 nights at SW so will take one day from there to go to LL.

Yeah we didn't do the WP one we had kids but with the PAP they were included for free and I tell ya, Disney knew what they were doing. We now love them and will prob add them on in the future, esp when traveling in warmer weather.

I think LL could be done in one day. The park didn't seem huge to me, and some attractions aren't rides, but exhibits. So it depends on how long you stay looking at exhibits. You'll want to spend some time in Miniland USA though, it's really great!

We are checking in at BWV July 20th and checking out July 30th. We are going to legoland on July 23rd I think.

Anyone thinking of doing Harambe Nights? I have GF IPO trying to rework our plans to make it happen! Looks so fun and I think DD will LOVE all of it! She loved the FofLK last time we saw it. Hoping for some Pixie Dust!pixiedust:

Seems like it's geared more towards adults...

Is there a list of the broadway narrators scheduled or that could appear?

Hi everyone! Today is my little guy's birthday. He's 7 years old today! I can't believe how quickly 7 years have passed. I feel like I blinked, like he was just a tiny little baby. I went to his class today for his class party. It was so much fun. First graders are very cute! We had cupcakes, and DS9 came to the party as well. The festivities continue tonight with his requested birthday dinner...tortellini with garlic and oil. So simple, I know! And chocolate cake for dessert, his favorite. He wanted a Star Wars decoration on his cake. I found a Darth Vader candle at Party City! I can't wait to give him his gifts. We got him the DVD of "Frozen" and the Lego Star Wars Millennium Falcon that he has wanted. My parents bought him an iPod, which they will give him at his family party on Saturday. We got him an App Store gift card to go with it, but we will give that to him on Saturday so it makes sense, haha! :)

And the festivities continue throughout the next week and a half...tomorrow my niece turns 13. The family party on Saturday is for her and DS combined. Monday is my brother-in-law's birthday and Tuesday is DH's. We are going out with the family on Sunday to celebrate, to a really great Greek restaurant we all love. And then of course the following Sunday is Mother's Day...we call this May Madness in our family! ;)

Happy birthday to your DS :) Sounds like our house this time of year. DD turned 6 on the 17th so we had a party with her friends on the 6th (Frozen themed of course - with pin the nose on Olaf even!) then I baked for her birthday treat at school, then we had Easter and this past Sunday was the big family combined party for her and DS - who turns 4 on Saturday! Frozen themed again complete with Elsa's ice castle cake for DD and DS shocked and went for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cake but that was just as fun to make. And to add to it DH and I celebrated 8 years on the 29th :)
Now I can sit back and focus on FPP for the 14th - and then all the dance shows and recitals for DD and my 2 nieces start so that will help the few weeks after that fly by!
