~~**The Official January 2014 Group**~~

Port Orleans is our favorite resort!! We always stay alligator bayou with pool view! We request building 16 it's close and you don't have to pay the upgrade!! We have gotten our request 5 times in a row now! If we don't stay at contemporary we will be at port Orleans for sure!

We loved it so much that I can't wait to stay there again! I want preferred to be close to the main building but I don't want to be poolside. Too noisy for this girl! lol I want AB for the extra bed. It will be perfect for us!

Looking at possibly going Jan 4-11...how are the crowds the week after New Years and the weather? We've only been in May and then this year we went the first of March.

Heading to Animal Kingdom Lodge January 7-15 2014!!! Super excited. I will be there during marathon weekend. Can anyone tell me how that will affect the trip regarding crowds and dining ressies? What are my chances of snagging a Be Our Guest dinner res and a Cinderella's Royal Table breakfast res?

We love January weather!
The Disney Marathon is the 8-12th..it will be BUSY!!
You will have over flow from New Years and the Marathon crowd.

The marathon weekend doesn't make the parks much busier than they would be. There was one last year and still the crowd levels weren't over a 5.

The marathons start each day at like 5:30AM. So that means early to bed before and after the races.

Generally only the first 5 days are still over flow from New Years.

:cool1:

We had all 5, 6 and higher in October.

Regarding ADR for BOG and CRT I would tell you to be on the phone the MORNING of your 180! (180 days before your trip!) and it's a LOT more likely you will get one!

Glad I found this thread! We are going January 21 to Feb 1. We have been many times before, but this will be our first time as parents! Our little guy will be 18 months while we are there - soooo excited and would love to hear other parents tips!

Welcome! :) Where are you planning to stay?

Awesome! Have you stayed there before? We stayed at POR in October and we went and checked out POFQ and it looks really cool there!

We have! This will be our 3rd stay there. We used to always stay at POR, but I like how small POFQ is....although I prefer the POR main building :)

P.S. I just noticed we are neighbours!

Yup! :) We're gonna book a preferred room in the Alligator Bayou area in POR. Then their is that extra trundle/bench bed thingy. lol :confused3 I'm so excited! I talked to my travel agent friend to look into a 3 or 4 day cruise!! We'll see if I can afford that! lol :love::dance3:

I still have 9 months to figure out how I'm going to surprise them with the trip!!! I have been thinking if I can get a flight that isn't TOO early (but early cause I'd like to arrive there in the afternoon but at least this time we'll have a direct flight) I might have a limo pick us up to go to the airport!!! I'll somehow distract them enough to get the bags outside and have the limo driver put them in and maybe just start honking....then I can send the kids outside and I'll have the limo driver holding a sign that says DISNEYWORLD OR BUST.... or something...:eek:popcorn:::cheer2:

Hey all! We will be coming down from Janurary 6-13 for me to run in the marathon. We are so excited!:hyper:

Where are you planning to stay? Having some park days too?

I'm running my first marathon this July. But it's more for fun as it isn't timed. And there are zombies.. :rotfl2:

Yes. It's a muddy, wet, obstacle and ZOMBIE filled 5K. I'm sure I'm gonna die! :faint: Luckily you can slow down and stop when you want....unless zombies are around. You have 3 flags (like touch football) that work as your 'lives'. If you make it to the end with at least one life left you are a "SURVIVOR" and that's the medal you get! If you 'die' your medal says "INFECTED". Either way it's going to be fun!

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES

I'm going to drive to Minneapolis and meet up with my friend Melissa. She is going to Disney in January at the same time to do the marathon. She's telling me I should but I really don't know if I could do it!

Plus I am a single mom so I would have to leave my 3 kids to do the marathon.

Port Orleans really is awesome! pixiedust:

Oh yes we will have park days, likely Tuesday through Friday. We are thinking Coronado Springs for out resort but that may end up changing once we book.
