~~**The Official January 2014 Group**~~

Yes. It's a muddy, wet, obstacle and ZOMBIE filled 5K. I'm sure I'm gonna die! :faint: Luckily you can slow down and stop when you want....unless zombies are around. You have 3 flags (like touch football) that work as your 'lives'. If you make it to the end with at least one life left you are a "SURVIVOR" and that's the medal you get! If you 'die' your medal says "INFECTED". Either way it's going to be fun!

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES

I'm going to drive to Minneapolis and meet up with my friend Melissa. She is going to Disney in January at the same time to do the marathon. She's telling me I should but I really don't know if I could do it!

Plus I am a single mom so I would have to leave my 3 kids to do the marathon.

Port Orleans really is awesome! pixiedust:

That zombie race sounds amazing!! My 2 boys (ds 15 and ds11) will be going with us as well and I'm leaving them in the room. Yours look to be a little younger. I couldn't imagine taking my boys alone your amazing! Maybe if we end up staying at port Orleans we could have the kids meet up for a pool date!

I can't stop watching peoples videos from the many zombie races last year! It's going to be hard but a lot of fun!

Awe I bet you could do it if you had to. Yeah my kids are 15.5, almost 10 and almost 7. If the oldest and middle didn't fight all the time when alone I'd totally do it. lol But that would be mean to my daughter to be stuck in a hotel with them! Pool date would be awesome! :) :cool2:

So I'm playing around with doing an illuminations cruise. We would have 6 that would leave 4 for the cruise. Has anyone ever done this cruise in January? Would anyone want to look into splitting a cruise to watch the fireworks at Epcot??

We're a family of 4 that may be interested. I don't know much about it. We will be there from Jan 8 to 22 to celebrate our daughter's 10th birthday.

BTW we're from Winnipeg. Where are you from?

Hello! We are from Nashville Tennessee. The cruise is a private boat that takes you and your party under the bridge between France and England for you to watch illuminations! There are light snacks and you don't have to camp out for a seat for an hour before the show. I believe last time I checked it was 300 for the cruise. You can also have them decorate and have a cake brought in for celebrations all for a price of course!

That sounds like fun. If you do book it let me know what date and I'll see if it will work with our schedule.

Thanks

I'm in! Will be there the 7-12th for WDW marathon weekend. A group of us are running in the 10k and my sister is also doing the half marathon. Haven't booked resort yet.

Another Winnipeger here, going the same time as you! Planning for Jan 15 - 24 (with another 5 days tacked on to spend in Clearwater).

At a standstill right now waiting to book something! We purchased our 6 day pass from Undercover Tourist a few weeks back to avoid a price increase. We are flying out of Grand Forks on Allegiant so I have to wait for their winter schedule to come out before I can book our hotel (Bonnet Creek).

I have my days all planned out according to TP. Will adjust once I know the exact dates based on our flights.

Heading to Fargo this weekend and plan on purchasing Gift Cards with my target card for the 5% rebate.

So much planning done, but nothing booked. Getting impatient over here :wave2:

Awesome. Welcome to the group! :) I'm getting impatient too! I hear it won't be until July till packages are released for next year! :surfweb:

We already booked our west jet flights (ouch!) 'cause I don't like the risk of driving to GF in the winter an missing our flight.

Have you stayed at Bonnet Creek before?

Howdy!

So our plan is Jan 4-11th.... I think!! I've been tossing around the weeks in Jan - thinking beginning or end of month. Any thoughts?

We are aware of ride closures, and what not but I can't seem to make up my mind!! Also we keep going back and forth between BWV and AKV. We will be a family of 4 with (Our kiddos being 4.5 & 2.5 at that time)

We plan on buying APs and going back in Dec (which is why we can't pick a resort! AKV would probably be easier to book for Dec and better for our group of 7!.., OKW is our home resort....)

I have priced out West Jet and for a family of 4 it will be over $2400. I can not justify spending that much on flights when we can drive 2 hours and fly for half the price. We just have to pray for good weather or go out the day ahead and stay over night. I have heard some hotels have park and stay, so instead of paying the $90 at the airport for parking we`ll pay $90 for a night at the hotel, park there for 2 weeks and get a shuttle to and from the airport. If we can get a seat sale closer to the date then we will book WJ, or look at AirTransat, but last year they only flew out on Fridays and I don`t want to leave on a Friday.

We have never been to WDW before. I went once as a kid so nope, never stayed at Bonnet Creek, but I want the space and the washer and dryer.

I hear you about flight prices. We usually use air miles but this year I decided to bite the bullet. At least we're flying direct so that's a bonus.

We've stayed off-site once and once at POP. We liked POP so maybe we'll stay there. I'm also looking at POR. Bonnet Creek looks really nice too. I was checking out their site a couple days ago. So I guess you can say that we haven't decided yet!

You can add me to the January 2014 Group! We are planning Jan 25-31st. This will be our first trip for the 4 of us in our family. Myself or DH have never been to Disney before so it has been a bit overwhelming figuring things out.

I have been searching for months on resorts and different options. Right now I am really interested in renting the DVC points and using one of the website services where you can buy them from. Just hoping I'm not making a mistake going down this road and then free dining happens to be offered that month. Right now I'm kind of set on this because love the Wilderness Resort, and rent DVC appears to make saying at the location a possibility.

Looking forward to reading all of your posts and getting great ideas!

:welcome: to the dis! :)

I found this place just before I started planning my families first Disney trip and it's been awesome!!!!

I've never rented points so I have no advice there. We booked at POP Century for our October trip and then free Dining came out so we changed to Port Orleans Riverside. It is a beautiful resort and we're going there again this January! :yay:

So we still have about 2 more months (at least until July) before packages are released for January!

I did notice today though that you can price out January packages via the RunDisney.com website!

Sometime in July would be the 180 day for making Dining Reservations! What restaurants are you thinking about trying? I know we are going to be getting an ADR at Be Our Guest restaurant! :D We ate at the Grand Floridian and Poly last year as well as in Cinderellas Castle!

I'm so impatient and just can't wait to start planning this trip!

Still hoping for a % off PIN code or that in July they will also announce Free Dining during my dates!

I am trying to keep post #2 updated with all our names, dates and resorts. If you aren't on there please just make another post asking me to add you! :surfweb:

Heather per your post on FB, I am going to join this trip planning page although I am hardly on the DIS anymore I will try and be active for you! I just need to figure out what Hotel I want to stay at since I will be there for marathon week and running the races.

Yay  We're gonna stay at Port Orleans Riverside. I think Winue is going to try and stay there too!

Hmmm... I prefer the French Quarter side due to size, but I may consider the riverside side and get a preferred room for my legs. But that depends on the discounts! If no discounts I will do a value!
