~~**The Official January 2014 Group**~~

Came back on Jan 5th at 9pm, then I had be at work early the next morning so I am now recovered enough to post.

Anyone have any questions?

We decided at the last minute (3 days before hand while driving to Florida) to stay onsite after staying offsite at Universal for two days so we found a decent rate at Port Orleans. Port Orleans was our best option that was available with 5 people in a room. We all had gray magic bands but not a big deal, we just bought the slider on characters so we knew which was our bands. Don't get the cloth bands to decorate your bands they don't work well. My husband and I were the only ones with a pay option added on to our bands.

One of my teenagers did lose his band but it was because he wore it over his sweatshirt as he was tired,I guess of having to pull up his shirt to scan his band. It wasn't a big deal we just used the room key after that for his fast pass plus reservations. You can scan on the left or right side as the rides all have scanners on both sides.

I did like the option of changing fastpass times on your phone. We decided to stay late on both our MK nights till 1am as the lines were long during the day so we slept in the next morning. It was very nice to cancel some of our early times and move them back so we could all sleep in the next day.

Staying past the fireworks was definitely a good plan for us, we were able to walk on to most rides except Space Mountain still had a 30 min wait at midnight. Rope drop is probably a good plan as well but since we were all tired from doing Universal and we are all night owls, staying late was a better option for us.

The weather took us by surprise it was quite wet which we expected we had ponchos ready. But it was also very cold on one of our days, we all had jeans and a hoodie but we needed more layers and heavier coats. My teens were able to wear their Harry Potter scarfs, glad that we had bought them for them.

Loved the new fantasyland rides, those were our favorites! We had a nice late dinner (9:15) at BOG. It was expensive but quite good for the most part. I loved the steak and macaroni/cheese. My husband and son liked the seafood pastry. Our service was very good. We ate in the ballroom.

Came home the same day you did!! And has the same thing (3 of us!) at BOG. Delicious! Was on dining plan or we wouldn't have splurged like that. We actually are lunch there in the room with the belle and beast music box and dinner in the ballroom. Wish if was still there!

At POFQ right now. Is anyone else here? I feel like everyone has their cranky pants on at the resort. Not feeling the magic in the CMs this time around.

I'm here too and I haven't had any issues everyone has been really nice. What stunk was the alarm someone must have set then checked out at 4:30 this morning. Or at least that's when I heard it. Had to be the loudest ever, lol. After about 10 minutes I had to call the front desk, they were out quickly to turn it off. But then another alarm with a person who snoozed a few times. Either POFQ has the loudest alarms ever or very thin walls. Still enjoy it here tho

What is this 'Mickey Mail' I see mentioned on the boards? Who gets it?
We leave in 10 days and haven't gotten it.
Do we not get it because we are staying on rented DVC?
Thanks!

We arrive on Saturday and are so excited! This is our our first stay on Disney property. I'd like to say this is WHY I'm so excited, but I love Disney either way . We usually go in the beginning of November so I'm hoping the weather cooperates for us. I've heard it'll be crowded because of MLK Day, does anyone have any idea HOW busy it'll be?

I think the Mickey mail that most people are referring to is either for people who book packages, they receive souvenir luggage tags and a coupon book, and/or Magical Express vouchers and yellow tags for the Magical Express service. We booked our trip less than three weeks ago and haven't received our Magical Express mail. I called ME and they said that we might not receive it due to the late booking, but we could still have our checked bags picked up by the ME and taken to our resort if we give them our luggage receipts when we get to the ME desk.

Last year Martin Luther King weekend was pretty crowded. :faint:

Just back from a cruise.....now to pack and get ready for our WDW trip.
We leave Saturday......2 weeks of Disney fun :yay:

Only 8 days left.
Love booking a trip at the last minute. Starting a countdown from less than 20 days makes it a lot easier to endure the wait.
