My family is going 12/30/11-1/6/12! First time to take my GrandAngels (6 and 5). First time to be there for New Year's too. Any advice would be wonderful.

We are going the exact same time frame....and from Texas too! I have pretty much decided that we are going to do NYE at AK for the day then have a nice dinner at either Cape May or Boma then if we fill like it watch both the higher fireworks of illuminations and DHS fireworks from the boardwalk area. I am in no mood to fight crowds all day and be stuck in a park! I have also toyed with the idea of going to the beach at Poly and watch the midnight fireworks the 30th or 31st when they do a practice run over MK. With AK being EMH-AM on the 31st and then wanting to hit the parks early the 1st (while everyone else is sleeping of NYE)...just makes more sense to not be in any of the other 3 parks!

We have our flights! Under $1000 for the the 5 of us. Now just need to book the ME. Makes it feel more real!

WOW...great deal I have only booked departing which is a little under $1000 for 5 of us!

You pretty much got all of them, but I would also add the first week in January, just bc there will probably be a lot of schools that don't go back until Jan 4th or 5th.
The marathon is January 5-8th and the Princess 1/2 Marathon is Feb 24-28th. Really I would stay away from Feb 17th-29th. Presidents day weekend starts on the 17th, that is also the same week as Mardi Gras, which I have heard adds quite a bit to the crowd level, and the week then ends with the marathon. Not a good recipe for short waits for the rides.

Good luck choosing a time to go, it's a great time to go if you ask me!

We typically go in January. It's been cold at times, but it beats 95° and crowds!

Spontaneous decision to move our trip to January 2012 for our daughters 5th birthday and it's a surprise trip!

We will be staying from 1/8 - 1/13; daughters birthday is on the 12th!

We're planning on renting DVC points for our stay.

BFF and I are celebrating birthdays while there too.....and hers is on the 12th!! (Mine the 18th). No better place to be!!

Yay, another January OKW goer. I'll be there the same week!

It's been a few years since we've enjoyed the glory of OKW. This is our first time in a 1 BR. We'll be rattling around in all that space! It can't come soon enough for me.

Well, it's not official yet...but I'm trying to plan and book a trip (hopefully within the next two weeks) for Jan. 7th through the 13th. It will be my first solo trip ! Hopefully I'll be able to show off a new trip ticker soon!

That's so neat! I love meeting people that share birthdays!

I was joking with DH that he should plan something special for our anniversary, which is 1/20, and my birthday, which is 2/2, while we're there and get it all done at one time!

Anybody going to switch over to the Free Dining? I think it is going to work out much better for us, than even the Military Discount. DH was kinda worrying about all the eating and less park time with the DxDDP, so we will go back to the regular DDP.

We'll be doing a split stay. Room only the first 3 nights, FD the last 6. Saves us over $500. Worth it to me... especially when we only planned 1 of those first days in a park and we have some nonexpiration days. So we'll either hang at DTD or use 1 day of the nonexp!

Just added Free Dining to my reservation1/14-1/21 at ASMusic, so excited, it saved my family about $900 after upgrading the free quick service to regular dining.

I have been on hold for over an hour, guess I won't get through today. Looks like we may only save about $75, but that is better than nothing and that is a savings over the Military Discount.

An hour and a half into holding, a CM finally answers, we talk a minute, she asks me to hold and instead disconnects me, call back and they are of course closed and I am now really ticked off.

Does anyone want to help me plan my days out? We are looking at going January 8-13. We like to go to MK our first day there just to go. Usually our last day is spent there as well (the 12th). We won't be going to the parks on the 13th. Also, we'd like another full day at MK somewhere in between those 2. Not sure if we are going to do EP, AK, or HS on the other 2 days we have.

What would you guys suggest for a 4 year old? We did EP and AK last year but not HS. Wouldn't mind trying there. So I guess it's then between AK or EP for the other day.

Also, we usually get there early but don't stay too late in the day. It's just too much and not relaxing to us. We don't really need to see parades, fireworks, etc as we saw them this year. We're trying to do a relaxing trip this time.

Also, we going back and forth on doing CRT. Do you think for that time of year that there would be openings if we just walked up or maybe booked it once we arrive at our hotel?

We are planning for Jan. 25- Feb. 5th. I'm almost positive it will end up being 9 nts, though, not 11. I'm just not sure whether we'll drop the first two nights or the last two nights from our trip. We are booked at POR with FD.
Our dd will be turning 4 that week, so we are hoping to surprise her (and her sister ) with BBB and CRT. They will just flip out!
Have any of you done the Pirate's League? I'm thinking ds might like to do this, maybe while the girls are at BBB.

We are finally booked Jan 22-Jan 29 at All Star Sports (might change to Music, Movies had no standard rooms and Pop was more money) with free dining.

Trying to decide if we should upgrade to regular dining.

Also we were planning on driving down Friday Jan 20th but free dining doesnt start till Sunday. Not sure what we will do might do room only sat night but dont think I want to pay $90 for friday night when we wont get there till like midnight so we might leave really early sat morning or might hit a cheap hotel friday night...still deciding...hoping for a room only discount.

Well, I finally got through and I cancelled our room only for Jan 6th, we are now doing a room only with Military Discount plus regular dining and then change over to the FD package on Jan 8-14. We are still at Pop for all 7 nights, but now only have the regular DDP, instead of the DxDDP and we have 8 day hopper tickets.

Now, I have to figure out how to get thos hopper tickets out of the FD package on Jan 7th, I know I have read it can be done, I just need to know how to go about it and I need to change/cancel some dining reservations.

Hey, guys!!! I'll keep a lookout for you! I'll be in OKW 1br, too, Jan 20-27. This is our first time in OKW (did the other DVCs).

I also got all my ADRs finally. I was having computer issues, then went to the beach w/o access. When I came back they had announced free dining, so I quickly finished my ADRs. Got everything I wanted at the exact time.

Still deciding on BBB for DD6 or the pirate cruise...I wondering if January will be too cold to be on the water at 9:30am. I know weather can be 20's or 80's...

Yes I am a Disney addict... going in September but also going in January and wanted to join you all on here. We will be going January 26th - February 4th. We have never been in January. Is there anything that is going on that week that I should know about. We are staying at the Boardwalk please add us to the list!
