The Official GLEE thread

Wasn't my favorite episode. I think I've had enough of Gwenyth's character. The Santana/Brittany thing wasn't believable to me and I have no problem suspending belief for Glee.

I agree! And all I kept thinking when stamos said he was moving to a hotel was "is that near two and a half men?"

add me to the anti-Gwynnie group. She cannot sing. Just because your husband is a lead singer and your best friend is Beyonce' does NOT automatically present you with singing talent. And she landed a $900,000 recording contract...:sad2::scared::crazy2:

I loved the "Landslide" cover.

I agree, it was beautiful.

My highpoint of an unusual episode was Bert having "the talk" w/ Kurt. Lots of truth there and the actor totally convinced me w/ his eyes not only does he love his son, but made me believe every word. I was a bit confused about Kurt's reaction. I can't decide if he was being resistant or if he was just trying to convey discomfort about talking w/ his dad about this.

I like Glee, only for the musical numbers. The story lines, not so much. But last night, I had to turn it off. My son likes to watch it, but the content was just too adult for a young child. Disappointing that I had to do that for a 8:00 show. If they want to be so racy, move it to 10:00.

Ugh... :headache: I despise her with a passion. :crazy2: Hopefully she'll just have a small part.

Same here, can't stand Kathy Griffin...

I thought that was awesome, I love Kurt's dad!! I thought the Afternoon Delight choice by Emma was hysterical. :rotfl2: I also thought Blaine's face when Coach Sue was talking to them was hysterical! I like Gweneth Paltrow on the show.

Kurt has been bothering me a lot recently and I'm using this as one of my examples of why. In Blame it on the Alcohol episode Kurt got mad at his dad for not knowing about gay sex and then in this episode he is resistant to it. He doesn't want to hear about the thing he told his dad only weeks before to educate him self on.

Anyway,
I'm excited for next week. The original songs are good. I like Get it right so much more then loser like me.

I actually liked last night better than the alcohol episode, which I didn't care for.

I love Kurts dad, he is wonderful!!!!
I enjoy Gwyneth and I think she can sing, and I loved 'Do You Wanna Touch".
Afternoon Delight was a riot!

There were a lot of ups and downs last night though, like the cucumber.

As far as too racy for a young child, Glee has never been a kids show. They have had many racy episodes, and this is the first one that had a parental discretion warning attached. My dd is 15 and there are many times where we watch it where it makes me cringe, and last night there were more than usual. But it's never been a kids show, and they did warn people last night that this episode would be racier than the others. They cannot air it at 10pm eastern either, because Fox does not have 3 hours or primetime programming.

I liked it way better than the alcohol episode, I didn't like that one at all.

I agree that it's never been a kids show, I wouldn't let my young kids watch it no matter what time it was on.

I doubt this is the first time the content has caused you to censor this show.
It's just not a show for young children. The characters are constantly discussing sex. Drinking and taking OTC drugs to excess or inappropriately have both been topics they've featured. Several women have tried to seduce or seduced Finn...does your son really watch those episodes?

Anyway, I like Gwyneth Paltrow on the show, she definitely CAN sing and the friction with Will will be interesting to watch.
I knew they'd be finding an exit for John Stamos pretty quickly as he's being groomed by CBS for another role...maybe.
I really liked last night's music. Afternoon Delight was hysterical...it's a dessert with marshmellows, right?

Except for Ms. Paltrow's screeching singing and the little bit with Santana and Brittney, I loved last night's show. And the scene with Kurt and his father finally converted my husband to a fan too. Extra bonus: Rachel didn't have much to say.

also loved the "Landslide" cover

really wish they would not bring Paltrow back - ever!:sad2:

love:lovestruc Mike O'Malley and his character!!!! I agree they need to get it together with Kurt's character and story line.

though it could probably be said for the entire story line - more soap opera than anything I suppose.

I really don't get the flack about the content!!!! It has always been like this. There was just more of it packed into one episode.

I felt the same way over the Cosmo cover and "kids". If your "kids" are old enough to be watching Glee they are old enough to see cleavage! On an aside, DH and I were standing in line and the Cosmo issue was there - I laughed and said it reminded my of the "Perfect Couples" episode: "they're JUST breasts...look at them ...take away their power." :rotfl:

Gotta say though - with 13 year old it sure does lead to many of those teaching moments, as in "again, you do realize this not reality"....our family values as far as what is appropriate at what age etc. :) I actually find it of value from that angle, not necessary but of of value.

can't wait for the original songs!!!

Is anyone indifferent about Paltrow? It seems like people either love her or hate her....I for one like her singing and love her on the show. :thumbsup2

I just finished watching the episode and I really liked it. Yes it was racy but it's well known that Glee is not for kids, even at 8pm. Here are some of my thoughts:

-Gwenyth, I really like her character. Yes her signing voice is unique, but with the right song style I like it. I'm digging the chemistry between her at Will, I think it would be good for Will to have a woman who's got some confidence (although we now know that some of that confidence is Holly's wall to keep from getting hurt). She's certainly different then Terri and Emma which could be good for Will.

-Brittany and Santana, I gotta give kudos to Naya (Santana) for making Santana such a strong yet vulnerable character. I think Santana still doesn't know for sure if she's gay or what, but to see her realize that she does care for Brittany and is honest about her fears is admirable. I think it's totally believable that Santana would be afraid because of what happened to Kurt. I mean we're seeing the same thing with Karofsky. And I'm glad that they wrote it that Brittany actually understood what Santana was saying to her and that Brittany is making conscious decision to stay with Artie because she loves him. They could have easily wrote it that Santana could play into Brittany's stupidity but they allowed Brittany to have a smart moment.

-Kurt, I think the reason that one week Kurt is mad that his dad doesn't seem to want to understand what it's like for him and then the next week Kurt doesn't want to talk is because Kurt isn't as strong as he seems to be. I think a lot of the "confident gay teen" vibe that Kurt puts out is to hide just how vulnerable he really is. Yes Kurt knows he's gay and that's great, but where does he go from there? There aren't many openly gay guys out there for him to date and try and see how a relationship would actually work. Yes Blaine is the exception but they're both so hesitant about actually pursing a relationship in fear of failure/getting hurt/etc. that they're stuck.

That's why I loved that scene! That is so true to living with a teen. I thought the scene with Kurt and his dad was one of the best scenes ever. It was true to the characters, true to real life, and some really good advice.

I agree with everything 100% except the Gwyneth part. I am a huge non fan of hers.

Maybe someone has already posted this b/c I read it earlier in the week, and am not very good at keeping up with the many threads I read.

I read a quote from Barbara Streisand, her niece saw Funny Girl and ask her
"Why did you do so many songs from Glee ?" :lmao:

I liked this weeks episode. I think Gwynth's character is funny, I laugh at most of the things she says. And to whoever said that she can't sing, she may not have a voice that you love but that doesn't mean she can't sing. She definitely sings better than I do. Brittany's pregnancy scare was hysterical, especially the face that Rachel makes, I was dying. :lmao: The sex tape thing was dumb, but I'm starting to like Lauren and Puck together. "Animal" was funny and it was nice to hear Kurt finally singing again. The whole thing between Santana and Brittany is just weird to me. I thought Naya did a great job with Satana's speech to Brittany, I just don't know how believeable Santana being in love with Brittany is. Afternoon Delight was hysterical because of the faces all of them were making. "The Talk" between Burt and Kurt kind of bothered me. The fact that Burt was telling him that all guys have sex without thinking of the emotional side of it really irked me, he has to know that's not true. All-in-all I liked the episode. :)
