The Official GLEE thread

I liked last night's show. It was very timely for us, because DD15 (huge fan of Glee) is in Spain right now. There's no drinking age there, and the kids spent the weekend, partying in the clubs. I understand it was quite the experience for my DD. FTR, nobody got sick or passed out or anything, but there was stupidity going on.

I never thought Glee was for younger kids. They address some fairly teen/adult topics. An 8yo might enjoy the music and performances, but the storylines aren't something I would want to be explaining.

Carole Kings Tapestry got me through a rough patch in high school, so I was a real fan of last nights show. I was singing the songs to DD and she looked at me like I had 2 heads, but I didn't care! Wish Rachel would sing more Carole King!!

What was Rachel wearing at the party?? A nightgown??

The party was hilariously accurate to how high school kids really do it. The show has it all.

Not one of my favorite episodes. I didn't like the songs that much.

Ah well, there's always Idol tonight.

Better question - what was Artie wearing?

I didn't 'get' Rachel's outfit at all! Very weird and I'm sure it carried some message but it was so weird, they missed it.

I loved last night's show. It was enough just seeing Biest in that ridiculous cowboy hat.

I think Rachel's dress was based on a pink dress that Barbra Streisand wore in a movie back in the 70's (can't remember which one). Maybe someone with better google skills than me can find a picture. It looked just like Rachel's dress except pink.

The long flowy caftan-y, Gunne Sax-type dresses were big in the 70's for home parties. My mom had one in bright yellow- it was even called a "hostess gown" and she wore it when she had dinner parties for my dad's business clients.

Maybe because Rachel was into Carole King and playing 70's music in the background (and she loves Barbra), she went with the preferred 70's partywear. That and she is kinda lame in her outfit choices in general...

I was kinda surprised that no one at the party commented on the dress, so she could go into some long winded explanation.

She is going to be the coach of Aural Intensity. They were the group that got 2nd place at Regionals last year. They didn't show most of their performance- it was a mashup of Olivia Newton-John and Josh Groban (who just happened to be two of the celebrity judges).

From what it sounds like, Vocal Adreneline won't be at Regionals- they will probably meet them head-to-head at Nationals. They haven't explained their absence yet, but it will probably be something like, "They won Regionals last year so they have an automatic bid to the Nationals".

Regardless of which group she's coaching, Sue shouldn't be allowed to work for a rival school when she still works at McKinley- I guess in GLEE-world, anything can happen...

Ahh . . . thanks. You are right - I got Aural Intensity and Vocal Adrenaline mixed up. Still, I'm hoping to see Charice and Cheyenne Jackson again sometime.

As for last night's show, I liked the Blaine/Rachel story line, and how Blaine was trying to find out who he really was. I'm more impressed each week with Darren Criss - I always thought he was just some goofy guy from the Harry Potter musical spoof, but he is definitely holding his own with the Glee kids.

Loved Rachel's line "I may get a boyfriend out of this who can keep up with me vocally and sometime in the future give me vaguely Eurasian-looking kids."

Who I am not liking is Santana, especially when she is so nasty and disrespectful to Will, calling him Mr. Four-Loco.

I also like the friendship that is developing with Coach Bieste and Will. It was nice to see Kurt's father again too. I think his scene with Kurt was good - it shows how uncomfortable parents will be when it comes to their kids sexual behaviors.

So, how does everyone think they handled the alcohol message?

I liked last night's episode. I thought it was honest. High Schoolers drink. It happens ALL the time. Not all teenagers do, but it happens and it happened in Glee. I loved Blaine and Rachel's song, probably because I like anything that comes out of the mouth of Darren Criss. I honestly thought that the dress was a nightgown, I was confused for a moment. I thought the Ke$ha song was pretty good, except for the lighting. It was dark and I couldn't tell who I was looking at.

I had a total epiphany today. ADAM LAMBERT.

Why are they not begging him to join the cast?????? He could totally be Kurt's new romance! Plus that voice...swoon!

They asked him last year, he turned them down. I would die to see Adam sing on Glee :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

They need to ask...no BEG, again!!! He doesn't even need to be a regular. how about a 3 show arc of something?

:faint:
That would be an episode I'd never erase from the DVR. :lovestruc

He could come in, sweep Kurt off his feet, and make Baine realize how much he loves Kurt. Then Kurt would have to choose... :cloud9:

Hello my friend ... too great that you know of the HP musicals ... ha-ha! Some very good thoughts above.

While I would love to see him on the show, he'd have to make himself look a lot younger to pass of as a high school kid. Even more so than the other adults playing teens on the show.
