The Official Gilmore Girls Thread

I agree Maleficent13 -- it must be pretty bad on the job for the creators to leave their own hit show. I think Amy & Dan are way different from most writers on television. I wish I could say more than they use intelligence when writing, but that's really all that I understand about their flair. Whatever the rest is that makes it so awesome is just personality or something...

I liked how honest they appear to be in the article. I too am sad they are leaving, though. What a shame of the PTB to not reason with them.

NOW, as for how much money they get anyway -- YIKES! I think I would suck it up and lead the show out on top for one more season. Securing myself a 5 million $ job for 1 year sounds pretty sweet to me. I'm at the very bottom of the "full time job world" and I gotta say, it sucks. Maybe they are unhappy at the top, but I must admit, the bottom doesn't feel too good either. (That whole paragraph is $ driven for me. I'm part of the entitlement generation so that's showing face a bit. )

Point blank -- things were obviously bad enough that Amy & Dan felt propelled to leave their "baby."

I would love to read an article on what Lauren Graham and other actors think of the decision. :confused3

I just find it hard to believe that they'd take doing 0 more years when they could have had 1 more. So it's not the two they wanted, big deal. If it really is their baby and they wanted to finish it right, then they should have stuck around 1 more year. (And the $5m wouldn't have hurt either). JMHO.

AAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I just looked up and saw who is prego. I was right, that's who i thought it was. :teeth:

I agree with this. The tone did sound sort of arrogant, even though I read Maleficent's point before reading and it did sound logical. Their comments though seemed sort of out of line.

I'm completely in agreement with you that it seems they could have taken at least the one year (and who knows?! maybe it WILL/WOULD be more) if they really wanted to finish out the show the way they had in mind.

To me, it sounds like the classic "taking my ball and going home" scenario when someone doesn't get their way. Perhaps they have every right to do just that, since they created the show and made it what it is.

I just think I would have wanted to keep playing, personally. Also, JMHO :)

Where is the spoiler about who is pregnant? I think I know who it is, but want to see if i'm right.

Check out the attitude on the Palladinos. Wow. And what's with all the drug references? Anyone else not find that particularly funny (if that's what Amy was shooting for). I say, "Bring on the new writers!" This season needs to be over already.

As for the pregnancy spoiler... It's not much of a secret really, they pretty much gave it away in the preview. You can see the color of the hair of the person Luke is talking to. Very few people in Luke's world have that color of hair.

See...I totally had my money on it being....

Miss Patty.

:rotfl2:

:lmao: Still funny today!

It is interesting the different views on the Palladinos. Bottom line is, though, that without them the show is not the same; doesn't even follow the same storylines. We'll never know what the last scene was supposed to be. I'm not sure I'll watch.

I definitely did think of that last scene, which has already been written. Will they allow the new writers to move towards that same end goal (if they even want to)? I'm really curious about that, and I agree that it will not be the same if it's taken in a different direction. Could be a sad ending to a great run :confused3

Let's hope not! :goodvibes

Could someone please post a review of what happened on the 4/25 episode?

DH and I were in WDW for our anniversary and we had a power surge so it didn't tape.

Thanks!

Okay...it's been a week, though, so sorry if I miss anything!

Show starts picking up where the last one left off, with Rory going to the hospital to see Logan. Conner and Finn are there, goofing off, and Rory goes off on them for never being serious, even when their best friend is in the hospital unconscious. She sends them away.

Meanwhile, Sukie and Lorelai are at the Inn, where Sukie is telling Lor about all the things she did when she was drunk at Lane's wedding. It isn't pretty. Fast forward to to the diner: Luke's back and greets Lorelai...he tells her that he heard she was the life of the party. She freaks thinking someone told him about the toast, when he tells her he heard she sang...some song who's name escapes me (told you it was fuzzy!). Miss Patty tells her the whole town has entered into a pact to not tell Luke about the toast.

Meanwhile, Rory is not able to get the docs and nurses to tell her anything because she's not family. Logan's family is not there: his mother had a breakdown, Honor is on her way home from the honeymoon, and his dad (the illustrious Mitchum) refuses to come to the hospital because according to Honor, he thinks Logan should have out grown this all by now.

Desperate, Rory calls Paris and tells her she can't find anything out. So Paris calls the hospital and apparently threatens the docs, who give her all the scoop, which she then tells Rory (SOOOO many HIPAA violations! :teeth: ). Turns out he's going to be fine (collapsed lung, broken ribs, concussion, etc.). He's still not awake.

Next scene is Lorelai and Luke shopping for April's birthday...Luke wants to buy her a trashcan with kittens on it. Lorelai tries to talk him out of it, but he's insistant. She asks to help and he says no...he doesn't want her to meet April because he's afraid April will like her better than him. He compares Lor to a cartoon character (personal aside, i found the scene lame...but others liked it!) So he buys the crap and decides to throw April a b-day party at the diner.

Rory calls Mitchum and scolds him for not coming to see his son (great phone scene). By this time, Logan is awake. Rory has obviously forgiven him (brush with death will do that I guess). When Mitchum leaves, they have a tearful "I'm sorry, no, i'm sorry" scene. kissy kissy, etc. End of scenes for Rory and Logan.

April's party is a bust...Luke goes ape over the rules of what the girls can and can't do, so they sit around and play cards. he calls Lorelai panicked; she arranges an impromptu makeover party and everyone has a blast. They turn it into a slumber party for the girls.

Next day April's mom shows up, all upset that Lorelai was there. She goes off on Luke. Keeps calling Lorelai "your GIRLfriend" all sneery. Didn't want his GIRLfriend involved with her daughter, etc. Luke goes home and tells Lorelai, who is upset.

Next day, Lorelai goes to the mom's boutique and confronts her about it...Anna explains that she doesn't want anyone in April's life that isn't permanent. She says she doesn't care that Luke and Lorelai are engaged...she says IF they get married, then she'll consider letting her in. (Another personal aside: I thought she was really snotty and very overprotective). Lorelai leaves the store, crushed.

So that's pretty much it...previews show Luke asking someone if they're pregnant, and Rory and Logan talking about him going to London.

If I left anything out, I'm sure someone can fill it in! :)

Mal,

Thanks for the great synopsis. I have to tape tonights' ep. because my daughter's HS softball team is in the regional finals.

There better not be any power surges again!
