The Official Free Dining Watch 2007 Thread

I have a question and I've been keeping a close watch on this thread and I don't remeber seeing this being asked yet but if you don't reserve monday with a disney visa for free dining will you still be able to get it when it is revealed to the public or is everyone without a disney visa screwed for this deal? I just want to know so I don't get my hopes up. My TA I went with is waiting to see if she can get me free dining and this information would be helpful to know. (Though she will probably tell me if I can't get it monday if the answer to this question is yes the rest of us non visa holders are screwed)

From the past two years, Disney Visa Cardholders were able to book first, the a few days later it opened to the General Public (this year speculation is for Thursday or Friday).

Hope that helps!

Last year we booked the last day possible. I don't remember for sure but, I think it was beginning of June. Does that sound right? Of course this year I am booking first thing tomorrow. :lmao:

As long as their still rooms left, you will be able to book it after those couples days, but if you have the visa (which I also do :goodvibes ), you will want to book tomorrow

Well my TA already booked me a courtisy(not if that is spelled right) hold on my reservation which ends on the 13th of april, this means disney is holding those rooms for me till the 13th till i pay a deposit, but my TA is holding off on paying the deposit with my card till free dining is announced so she can try and get it for me. So am I good to get it or should I have her pay the deposit and forget free dining just to make sure disney doesn't sell my reservation, has disney been known to sell coursity holds when alot of people are trying to book vacations?

You having a reservation already means absolutely nothing. You aren't in a better line for getting the Free Dining than anyone else. I would go ahead and put the deposit down today honestly, so she only has to call and convert it tomorrow.

Having it on hold does guarantee you a room though, but just not with free dining. You might want to decide some other resort options though tonight so she can move you if need be...like from POP to ASSports.

Is CRO open today? (I need to make some ADRs)

For what it's worth..

I called Disney Visa a few minutes ago, she told me booking started tomorrow for the free dining from August 26-Sept. 22. She told me the code and gave me a number to call for more information.

I called the other number, just curious as to what they would say. I called, and she was going to transfer my call; she came back and told me that whoever she spoke with had said they had been 'no communication between Disney and Disney Visa' and it isn't normally released until a few days before to "prevent leaking to outside venues." ;)

To be honest, I was hoping the dates are/were wrong, as I leave Disney TWO days before free dining.

The reservation you have booked won't help or hurt you get a free dining package. If your TA calls after the packages are all sold for your resort and dates, she'll have the try book at a different resort or different dates.

They're open until 10:00 tonight.

Can you share the code again? I know its somewhere on this thread, and I wrote it down, but I'm going to tape it to the phone for tomorrow am! :rotfl:

Thanks!

This was all I wanted to know really, I know I'm not guarented the free dining plan with the hold, just a room. The rest of your post makes no sense to me. If she makes the deposit before free dining is announced there's a greater chance I won't get it because I would be paying for the room and tickets separetly and the free dining plan is a package deal only. It's easier to wait it out and just make the deposit before the hold ends on the 13th if she is not able to get the dining plan, otherwise if I make a deposit now and she gets me free dining in order to get it I would have to have my deposit refunded and make another deposit for the package deal.

All in all I'm more interested in going to disney world the week i want to at the resort I want rather than get this free dining plan(the plan would be an awesome bonus though). But if the hold really does guarente me a room I'm not gonna worry about it.

That makes more sense, thank you. I'd rather stay at the resort I want than have free dining, so we will see I guess. I'll e-mail my TA and let her know I'm mostly interested in staying at my resort of choice and if she isn't able to get me the dining plan for that resort than to just pay the deposit for the room and tickets and be done with it.

I think us non-Disney Visa folks need to stay calm. :flower3: Disney visa or not, most people can't really take advantage of this offer due to other commitments (job or school). Other people blithely make a reservation without knowing Disney discounts are occuring on or near their selected dates. And we all know if you don't ask, you might not get a thing!

I seriously thought about applying for the visa, but every time you do that sort of thing it can impact your credit score. Do I need another card? - no. I am happily collecting points and miles for a future trip on my only card.

Now it does sound like some of the hotels are fairly booked already & the time frame appears shorter this year. But again, we are in the minority 'know' crowd and even we are dispersed over the 4 week offer period. Assess how flexible your dates are and what resorts you are willing to try to get free dining. Make a list so when you call Disney or your TA, you are able to communicate while you are hyperventilating.

In the meantime, I'll be trying to stay calm too! :grouphug:

Sorry LKR, for the misunderstanding. A room with tickets, is a package though and if you have a deposit on that, they will just change the reservation and the deposit will remain there. They won't refund you and rebook you! Unless of course they have a "for new bookings only" clause on this thing...GULP! That would be too much work on their part though. Good Luck!

And the hold does gaurantee you the room!

eta: I figured it out myself.

We are actually doing MGM on the 29th too.... may see you and never know!lol
Yeah, we might! Do you have little ones? Are you doing the Hollywood & Vine breakfast? That's our plan anyway....I hear that lime green is the official color of the DISERS, so I guess I will have to find some lime green to wear! That and my crocs of course :)

:cloud9: TOMORROW IS THE DAY!:yay: FREE DINING SHOULD BE OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED TO ALL DISNEY VISA CARD HOLDERS:rotfl:  :rotfl:  WHO WILL BE WAKING UP FIRST THING (or staying up past midnight) to see if it gets officially announced?:surfweb:

Since we're on the West coast, I'll definitely be checking (where? Disney Rewards site?) after midnight, but is there any way for us to book online through the WDW site? I'll happily get up at 4 am to make the phone call, since I'm guessing the early offer for Disney VISA customers won't be available online, but thought I'd check with you experts first. TIA, and we'll see you (on hold with CRO) tomorrow am!

Someone posted on another board that they have already received an email from Disney Visa, but they did not give details about its contents.
Has anyone else gotten an email? I have the VISA, but no email.
