The Official Free Dining Watch 2007 Thread

I just called to make my ADR's...I talked with the nicest CM I have talked to yet. She asked if I was going to have the dining plan. I said yes, I am going to have it either way, but I am hoping for the free dining plan. She sort of chuckled and said that she was glad she was off for the next three days because of that. I didn't have every ADR figured out exactly...she said if she were me she would figure them out in the next couple of days because everything will fill up quick!

It is obvious they are going to be doing free dining...I'm so excited. She told me to call back either tomorrow or on Monday for it.

I also need help w/ my ADR's...I have Chef Mickey's for August 26th at 6:10, which is perfect.

I have Crystal Palace for the 27th, at 6:15...however, I was thinking to changing this to August 30, which will be our last night at Disneyworld. I have a 2yo son, and he's not really into Winnie the Pooh...what is another character meal that has all of the mickey mouse clubhouse characters that we would use in magic kingdom for our last night there?

On the 28th, we are doing epcot & animal kindgom...she highly recommended la celliers, but she only had a 4:30 and a 7:50 left...she said the 7:50 would make it hard to see illuminations, so I booked the early one...

On the 29th we are going to MGM...I booked Hollywood & Vine for 9:00 that morning...do you think I should push it back to be later? Or should I do the lunch on that day? My son LOVES little einsteins, so this is a have to do restaurant...I'm just a little concerned about my time, but I don't want him getting hungry/fussy.

So now that I have most of my table service meals, does anybody have any good suggestions for counterservice meals that a 2yo would like?

Also, we are leaving walt disney world on august 31st...will I get the free dining for that day too? If so, I thought I might try to schedule a breakfast somewhere in there...

I'll appreciate all the help I can get...can't wait to schedule on April 12th!!! (or maybe sooner the way this lady talked!!):woohoo: :woohoo:

In regards to your MGM 9am ressie.....just make sure you leave enough time to get there. Depending on which resort you are staying at, it will take a while to get there. We always plan slightly later breakfast ressies, as we are not great morning people.

My understanding with the dining plan is that you have until midnight on the day you check out. That's what the CM told me when I booked my meals.

We LOVE the Crystal Palace for any meal. The food is really great there. There is Liberty Tree Tavern at MK with a Thanksgiving type dinner that lots of people love but I've never tried.

For the dining plan you get 1 TS, 1 CS and 1 Snack credit per NIGHT of your stay. The points don't expire until midnight the day of check out but if you eat a TS meal every day including check in day you won't have any extra credits for the last day.

I can't believe it!! We are checking out on the 26th instead of checking in!!!:guilty: I wish we could change our dates, but we can't! I will miss having free dining this year. We can't even purchase the dining plan, because we are staying at the Dolphin!

Call to make sure but,as I know from 2005 ddp was you got free dinning for the NIGHTS OF YOUR STAY. So on your last day there you do not eat for free UNLESS you did not use up all of your credits.
Your credits do not expire until midnight of you departure.
So on our last day in 2005 we paid for our meals, we had a couple of snack credits left only. Look at disney web site under dinning plan.

Does anyone know of this other Disney Visa promotion of $455/adult at a value resort for a 5 night stay that includes free dining????
No, but 5 nights in a Value for two adults with 6 day park tickets and free dining comes out to just about $455 each. Sounds like the Disney Visa free dining promotion to me, there isn't anything else out there right now that I know of.

2 x Adult 6 day base ticket @ $222 each = $444
5 x Value Standard room @ $93/night incl tax = $465

Total = $909 or $454.50 each

Another question here...

Does anyone know if there's going to be a special code for the free dining for the general public without the Disney Visa - ie. Thursday or Friday?? Or will it just be available to anyone who books?

Ugh...I had another question too, but my little boys distracted me and I can't remember it now *sigh* - I'm sure I'll be back to ask it later.

Thanks. A women at Disney Visa mentioned it to me the other day but no one else seems to know about it. If I could modify my Pop package to include free dining it would help!

Oh...yes...has anyone had confirmation of the length of stay?

Does it HAVE to be at least five nights? Or is it three?
And what's the max? Is it 10 like previous years? Or is it 14?

We're planning on being there for 14 nights, and we're buying a four night package for some friends to drive down from Alabama and join us for a few days...

You get 1 TS + 1 CS + 1 snack per person, per night at the resort. As soon as you get your KTTW card, you have all credits available. You could theoretically use them all in one day if you wanted to. Whether used or not, the credits expire midnight of the day you check out. So, on the last day, you may or may not "eat for free." It depends on how you've budgeted your credits.

We are using 4 TS credits the very first day we're there (CRT breakfast and HDDR dinner). Then we're doing CS and OOP for dinner a couple of nights. I like having that flexibility :) (and also not having to pay up front for both of those expensive meals!)

I heard it was a 3 night minimum, although no one at Disney seems willing to confirm that!

That's what I want to know too. I had a 3-night trip booked for 9/19 - 9/21, then I cancelled and rebooked for 9/13 - 9/17 because I heard it has to be 5 nights. As much as I'd love to stay 5 nights, and I probably will if I have to, I'd rather do a shorter trip. I'm gonna be so tapped out! :lmao:

My personal opinion is that it will be 3 night minimum. But it hasn't been posted officially from Disney yet.. so of course.. it might be more.

Someone posted yesterday morning that they had called Disney and a CM confirmed that it was a 3 night min but she couldn't book until Monday. The post is buried here somewhere!!!

I'm hoping it's only a 3 night minimum, I have a 4 night WL package starting on the 26th and my flight leaves for home on the 30th!

Last year we did FD at AS-Sportsand it was $434 each, so that's about right. And that included tax. BTW our food receipts totaled $550.:yay:

HELP! I need advice!

We have a Disney Visa, so I plan to call first thing Monday morning (like everyone else) to book a free dining package. My question is: is there any advantage to calling NOW to book a package and then try to "add" the code on Monday? Is there an benefit to having an exisiting reservation or does it not matter at all?

Thanks!

The good news....for those of us who have already booked packages with a discount, she told me that we should be able to apply the free dining to the already discounted package.

That just seems to go against everything that I've ever heard. So you're saying if that you have a AAA package with a discount on the room, you can ADD the free dining code and get the AAA room discount AND free dining? :confused3 That just doesn't sound right to me. It would be GREAT, but am I the only one who thinks that doesn't sound right?

I'm hearing that you can't "add" the code to an exsisting ressie, that you have to cancel the ressie and rebook with the code. :sad2:
