The Official Free Dining Watch 2007 Thread

instead of checking this board 5 times a day for 2 more weeks, why don't we all just go work part-time or over-time somewhere for 2 weeks and upgrade all we want with that money we make.........instead of becoming "junkies". I am a nurse, I am just going to work one extra shift and that will pay for a week of free dining and more and I won't have to worry!!! whoo hoo, problem solved!

you kinda have to play on it. switch to over views and other places and there will be a Mickey Icom you can click on.

Good idea! But it will NEVER happen, this board is like a 'drug' right now. Besides it will cost our family of 6 about $2400 for our dining for 10 days....I am a nurse too:hippie: ....not one days salary,.......not even one weeks....more like one months............and that is before taxes...lol

Yeah, I think that's a great idea. I really don't know why I'm stressing out about it anyway. Boyfriend and I are already going on a pretty cheap vacation with paying for the dining plan, and it will no doubt be paid off without a problem before the final payment is due. Here I am wasting my time on these boards when my lovely 25 page anthropology paper is screaming at me to finish it...man this is so distracting! I never should of planned a Disney trip before school was over for the year :rolleyes1

As a SAHM, this IS how I work overtime. Any money I save is money dh doesn't have to earn. :goodvibes Does that make sense?

Besides, it's fun! We get ourselves all worked up, so we can celebrate extra hard when we finally get a good deal.

It's also the thrill of the chase. I'm gonna find that free dining, hunt it down and catch it in a little cage.

Back to my full time job. :laundy:

If you make that much in one shift would you mind tossing in an extra shift to pay for our dining as well and then we will not have to check the boards 5 times a day?:rotfl: ;)

I just thought I would chime in on the OT or second shift idea, I am a hygienist and for my family of 5 it will be a savings of $2200 for our trip. That is huge and it would take me a week of overtime (if it were possible which it isn't for many jobs). I don't think that we are hurting any thing by checking teh board a few times a day. I would venture that those of us that work are still going to work, and that no children are being neglected because of this, So I really believe that must have come from someone who has either a small family or one with only small children, unlike mine of 3 teenage boys who eat me out of house and home and the dining would be a big blessing. Will we go if it doesn't come out? I am sure but, we will probably stay off site so we can eat at CiCi pizza a lot.

I think for me this is like a treasure hunt, and that is why I like it. Same reason I enjoy yard sales, consignment shops etc.

So Happy hunting all, I am off to work. I will check back afterward.

Crossing fingers for good news.

:surfweb: :surfweb: Go Disney- bring out free dining :cheer2: :cheer2:

everyone has reasons and different incomes I guess, but it seems that some are really going overboard, calling Disney SO much in one day and everyone booking just incase, the more they book, the less likely it will be offered and when and if it offered, a lot less rooms will be available and the people who definately want to go during this time are going to be the ones hurt. yikes that is crazy! Can any of you even imagine what it is going to be like this year? I was fortunate to get free dining the first year, it was REALLY busy, disney couldn't believe the outcome, they said the crowds were 5 times normal for sept! Its run rampid now!!! Everyone makes what they make, fortunately for me, I do well in Pittsburgh as a nurse and my hubby is in the same field and OT is available like water is, and again, fortunately, I work nights and its quiet and I work on a very quiet floor, so OT is easy to do for me, I know some people aren't as lucky!! It's all what you have time for,I guess and what you enjoy, checking this site 5-6 times a day and having multiple family members calling Disney, not my cup of tea and definately not fun, and then we wander why the disney employees are rude when we get there, hee hee.......after all this reading, December might be a better time, less busy! ha. Good luck to all of you, hope you all get free dining.

disneybunch, that was cute, if I give to you, I gotta give to the rest, at that is ALOT OF OVERTIME. (we get bonuses too, on top of OT, guess I should of mentioned that). Don't forget, with the big paycheck, sometimes, I have to clean up pooh pooh and other stuff! yuck! The thought of that makes me want to pay for the DDP, hee hee. Good luck everyone! Hey, maybe I will sell button, "I got the DDP for free", and that will pay for a couple trips, ha!$$$$$$$

Haven't read back, but on the TA website, the September Dining Offer is now GONE! It was showing in our options for the last three days, but this morning it is gone completely. UGH!

We were there last year Sept 10-14, and the parks were very uncrowded:confused3 . Longest ride wait we had was for Peter Pan--about 7 minutes. Even Splash was only 5 minutes.

As for already booking--well, we're going regardless of free dining or not, so yes, I've already booked. I agree there's no way I would book if it depended on free dining or not.

But I have been checking this site a lot--more like 10-12 times a day rather than 5-6:lmao:! Haven't called Disney yet but the minute free dining is announced I'll be on the phone! We're getting the dining plan regardless, but getting it free will save us almost $900:cheer2: ! GO FREE DINING!

Just a theory, but I bet Disney tells CRO to tell us something different every time. To cut down on all the calls asking for information, and to basically keep us wondering. Keep us hoping and waiting impatiently. I mean, surely they have had some kind of meeting about all of this. And anyway, we ALWAYS find out before CRO does. Last year when I called she said, "We haven't gotten the news on free dining yet....is there a code for that? REALLY? There is? Let me see if it works, YES IT DOES!!! HOW DO YOU PEOPLE GET INFORMATION BEFORE WE DO?" So calling them is pointless anyway:rotfl2:

Plus I bet if CRO knew in advance they would have a lot of people calling in sick...lol.

wow, $900 is a big savings, that is a lot of food too! yummy! I liked the free dining, dont get me wrong but the TS did take a lot of planning and time to eat, I liked the CS better, too bad couldn't do all CS instead of TS, I would trade them all in for CS in a minute. We had many meals left over at the end too, along with snacks, just not too too hungry at the parks, more thirsty! The more kids one has the more addicted to free dining I guess, more of a savings, I have only one, and he hates the idea of sit downs on vacation, so does the hubby.......they don't ask much of me all year, actually they are saints, so CS it is!

Just to clarify...

The plan is when we hear that free dining is out, we call Disney and have them apply it to our package?

I have six children and free dining would save us over $2000. We've never done free dining before and it's the only way we would dream of taking the kids to Florida in the heat (we usually go in Jan). We love the character TS meals as this way the kids get to meet the characters and eat instead of standing in line.
I do think that the number of children one has really doesn't matter. I think many are in it for the great deal. Not because we have to but because we find it worth while to put a little extra effort into finding the best deal possible.
On a side note, I work in the same field and would prefer to spend my days off at home with my kids than earing OT, as money is not everything;) .

From reading your postings I'm now wondering if when they offer the free Dining is it only for a limited time? A limited number?? Is your urgency to get the reservations you want??

Maybe I need to be more ready when they announce.

Good idea, except that I'm a SAHM and can't work out of the home right now. My DH would have to work a heck of a lot of overtime to pay for dining and his boss won't let him. I do have the money for the trip including the dining plan saved already, from doing my GPT sites, but I'd rather put the dining part right back in my pocket. ;) So I'll just stay glued to this board and wait for good news.:thumbsup2
