The *Official* February 2011 Thread - Happy Dance Time...The Park Hours Are Out!

Surprises sound like fun. Admittedly I wasn't sold on the idea until I saw the commercials. I get all teary eyed watching these kids get so excited. I may have to surprise the kids one day too.

And thanks for the post on the system upgrade ADR issues. I posted the problem in the ADR section and learned all about it. I can't find my notebook with my confirmation numbers in it, so I don't think a CM would be able to pull them up. Maybe I'll call later just for ha-has.

When I called the CM pulled all of mine up by using my last name and phone number -- no confirmation numbers. So yes, they should be able to pull them all up :goodvibes

Popping in to say HI to my fellow Feb visitors! I'm finaly doing the double-digit dance :cool1: We'll be at POR Feb 17-24 :thumbsup2
Now if I could just stop looking at my ADRs every day. By the way, regarding missing ADRs, mine were gone from the system during the transition, then 5 of the 7 came back. I called about the other two and they were still there. Well, as of yesterday, all 7 are showing back online!
And regarding surprising the kids, DH and I did that on Christmas 2008 for a trip in March 2009 - it was so fun! But planning this time, I've just been so excited I had to tell them the minute I booked, I couldn't wait! Now with the holiday's getting closer, I wish I had saved it as a surprise (yeah, right, like I could've done that) - anyway I'd like to think of a few fun surprises for Christmas morning, maybe a hidden Mickey book or something along those lines. I can't even surprise them with a character meal, they know all our ADRs! They will be 14, 12 and 9 when we go. I'll need to start a new thread with suggestion requests.
Sorry, didn't plan for this to be so long, but I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself and I think my family is getting sick of me. Can't understand why :confused3 Yay February!

That was long? Have your read some of my posts?? I know people just roll their eyes when they see my name come up, lol. You're among fellow obsessives here!! :goodvibes Sometimes I think about the trip and I get so excited, I just want to climb on my desk and dance around.

And while I'm here, no new news on the Event That Shall Not Be Named... I keep trying every morning. :sad2:

Hello!

Hope everyone is doing good. Nothing new at all here on the WDW front.

I am/was having a bad day at work, so I called and asked about The Event (that cracks me up), and still nothing. However, I was able to listen to some disney music and that cheered me up a bit.

Thats all on this front. :)

Thanks for the info! I called the CM and they were there and all she needed was my phone number and last name :thumbsup2

Once when the kids were throwing a fit in the car we called disney (yes it is saved in my address book) and listened to the hold music on speakerphone. :rolleyes1

It's official! I had a "moment" this morning and started debating, then I started looking... you know, the way it always happens, haha!

I booked a trip for just ds9 and I. He's pretty much the "middle child" and doesn't like the big rides his brother likes and gets stuck with the princesses that his little sisters like so this trip will be all about him! Of course I'm as excited as he is!

We are booked Feb 2-6 at ASMo Preferred. He's always wanted to stay there. He also wanted quick service dining only. Got to love the boy!

Congrats KayakMom!

I completely give up on ADRs- kindof :)

I had this problem last trip too. I think all my ADRs look perfect, and then the next day I change them all over again. We upgraded from free quick service to the regular dining plan (which didn't cost that much surprisingly) so I have 9 days worth of ADRs to make (poor baby right) and I just give up- any advice is appreciated-

so far we are eating

Le Cellier Dinner (my birthday)

Boma Dinner (my fav last time)

Tusker Breakfast

Crystal Palace Dinner (did the breakfast last time)

Mama Melrose Dinner (fantasmic package)

Ohana Dinner (did last time- was looking forward to it this time to eat with Gina- now that our dates changed- she wont be there- so thinking of canceling this.....and switching to Whispering Canyon instead- sigh- sorry again Gina)

Garden Grill

The Wave

need one more- or can cancel ohana and do a 2 ts- thought about Cali Grill- but then realized I have two little ones- so that may not be as fun as when they are older
Maybe Coral Reef lunch the day we are having dinner at Garden Grill???

UGH

Question for fellow Disney lovers:

If you could save $500 on airfare (not to mention the approx. $400 for hotel, DDP and tix) by cutting your trip down by 1 night, would you?

This is what I'm struggling with. I have us booked for 9 nts. returning on a Sat. but the Sat. flights are SO much more expensive than if we return on a Friday.
(Adding 1 night to the beginning of the trip to make up the night is not an option).

Part of me feels like we're already spending $5k (not including spending money), what's another $500? But then another part of me thinks about how we're pretty darn close to broke right now so $500 is a lot, lol (not to mention the additional $400 we'd save on the reservation).

As for having 1 less day, I had one "free" day planned which we would have just hung around the hotel or gone back to one of the parks again if there was something we really wanted to do again, so we would lose that free day in order to do everything (also going to Universal).

So WWYD?

We did cut back one day on our trip. As you know being from the NE, the fares were / are outrageous for the weekend travel time during the dates we're going. We decided to fly out on the eve of (2/16) and come back late flight 2/25 Fri (versus staying until Saturday). We'll miss one day, but with the airfare savings we had to do it; couldn't justify just staying one more day. That's ok, with the crowds we're expecting; I think we'll truly be ready to come home on Fri . :headache:

Awww, I'm sorry too, Alli! But it's not like you can control when your hubby can take off work!! WCC is fun too, and I liked the food... But I would always pick 'Ohana! That's just me. Where does the rest of your crew want to eat?

Lamb ~ That would be way too much of a savings for me to pass up. I would just make the returning flight as late as possible, and get the most out of that last day!

For a trip that long, I'd cut back to save that much $$. If it was my trip though (5 days) I'd say no way!

Hello! It's finally 100 days away until working at Disney world and spending all my time at the most magical place on earth!! I am so excited to be there for 6 months !!

Congrats on getting to work at WDW!!! Are you allowed to say where you will be? Store, ride, etc (sorry if you already answered that question)

Thanks Gina! I know- I prefer Ohana too- ugh we shall see.

I went on youtube this morning and watched 20 videos of kids getting surprised about their disney trips. I am now a crying mess lol!

Just found out DD cheer squad will be competing at WDW!! So I'm going to WDW Feb 10-14. :cool1: Our school board just approved the trip this week, so there is a lot of planning and fundraising to do. But I'm so excited for the squad they are so excited. Oh and I'm excited for me, too!! ;)

Can I join? DH and I are going on our first Disney Couple's Trip. We will be at CSR 1/30-2/7 and then off to Universal for a night then one night off-site to relax before coming home. Our August trip this year was hot and crowded, so I am really looking forward to the weather and crowds of Jan/Feb. I know I will miss the kids, but I am very excited.
