Wow, it's slow around here. Guess there's not much to chat about until it gets closer. Probably in January it will pick up.
I have plenty of planning still to do, just have no time to do it!! And I keep wanting to post, but never seem to have time to do that either. But things are suddenly slow right now, at least for a few minutes, so I'm going to see how much I can get out before someone buries my desk again.
How was everyone's weekend?? Ours was fabulous!! Friday night was a home game, which Pearland won again. Totally undefeated. My son had a marching band competition on Saturday, 30 schools competing. My son's school won first place!!

They do have a really awesome, huge marching band. But this coming Saturday is another, bigger (BoA, for any of you other band parents) competition, so we'll see what happens.
The poor kids are going to be exhausted, I know that. They have an away game Friday night, which means they won't be back at the school to be picked up until 11:30 or so, and lucky to be in bed before midnight. I have to have him back at school by 6:15 Saturday morning

and if they advance to the finals that day, they won't be back until midnight again. I'm guessing they sleep veerrrrryy late on Sunday!! And then they luckily have Monday off for an inservice, so they can rest up more then. And I'll get to spend my birthday with my son, which is cool. It was nice of the school district to give them a day off in honor of my birthday, don't you think?
Aside from the band awesomeness this weekend, DS and I also accomplished a lot around the house. It has been sooooo nice outside lately, and I was wishing for some fresh air in my house. I have a side patio with a big sliding glass door; There was a giant sliding screen for it, but it was torn up from the get-go and has lived in the garage for the almost-10 years I've owned the house. The thing is bigger than my car, so taking it someplace to be repaired wasn't an option.
Let me interject to say that I am *not* the handiest person, nor have I ever wanted to be. I own one screwdriver, a pretty little hammer with flowers on the handle, and consider changing a lightbulb to be a major home-improvement project. Just wanted to give y'all a frame of reference here, lol.
So I get a wild hair up my butt Saturday and decide that we are going to attempt to rescreen that thing ourselves. I strolled into Home Depot like I knew what the heck I was doing, found the tools we needed, even found special "pet screen" that resists damage from animals and is supposed to be 7 times stronger than regular screen. (We have a dog and two cats.) We laid everything out on the driveway, jumped right in, and did it!! It looks so awesome, and better yet, I was able to finally get some nice fresh air into the house.
But it doesn't stop there... Being on a roll, I decided we would tackle my toilet that has been getting worse and worse. Something was breaking/broken in the flusher assembly thingy, and I was to the point of resigning myself to calling a plumber before it quit working completely. Well, I bought a kit and other parts to replace every single thing inside the tank, bought something called a channel-lock wrench (I really could have happily gone through life without knowing what a specific sort of wrench is called) and we got to work. We replaced everything, turned the water back on, tried it, and it flushes perfectly now! Yay us!! We're so proud of ourselves, lol.
Okay, enough of our weekend news. For you guys going the same time as us, can you believe that in less than 3 weeks, we'll be in double digits?? I love getting down to double digits!!

I just wish they would hurry and extend the dessert party... that's a key part of my planning and I want to be able to plan around it. C'mon, Disney, throw us obsessive planners a bone!! lol
Sorry for the novel... lol Hope everyone has a great week!
