The *Official* February 2011 Thread - Happy Dance Time...The Park Hours Are Out!

Well, this is the first I hear of that :( I really wanted to ride that one :sad2: I've checked other sites and they've never mentionned SM. Oh well, I guess this means we'll just have to go again :rolleyes1

That's exactly what I was thinking!

My apologies :worship: I should probably not be allowed near a computer.

On a happy, less foolish note.. I went to the disney store today and reserved Toy Story 3 and Beauty and the Beast for Christmas gifts. The pics are nice, but what I really like is the coupons :thumbsup2

Woo hoo MamaJessie! You are now the bearer of GOOD news! I guess we'll all have to keep on waiting and hoping with bated breath....

I have sent a request to join the facebook page (it will be for Karen):)

Hi Karen! As of 1pm, I still show no new requests... But there was a Karen a day or so ago. Are you able to get into the group, see our discussions and whatnot?

We will be in AKL 12-17. Our 25th also! We have the Illuminations cruise booked for Valentines day our Anniversary. If anyone wants to share the cost and join us it will be about $100. per couple, if we can get 3 more couples! :woohoo:

I might be interested in this if we can get more people to lower the cost...how about it anyone else interested in the illuminations cruise? :sail:

Wow, it's slow around here. Guess there's not much to chat about until it gets closer. Probably in January it will pick up. :confused3

Oh oh oh ....me too!!! me too!!! We will be at FW cabins from feb25- mar 4 ;):flower3::flower3:

I have plenty of planning still to do, just have no time to do it!! And I keep wanting to post, but never seem to have time to do that either. But things are suddenly slow right now, at least for a few minutes, so I'm going to see how much I can get out before someone buries my desk again. :)

How was everyone's weekend?? Ours was fabulous!! Friday night was a home game, which Pearland won again. Totally undefeated. My son had a marching band competition on Saturday, 30 schools competing. My son's school won first place!! :yay: They do have a really awesome, huge marching band. But this coming Saturday is another, bigger (BoA, for any of you other band parents) competition, so we'll see what happens.

The poor kids are going to be exhausted, I know that. They have an away game Friday night, which means they won't be back at the school to be picked up until 11:30 or so, and lucky to be in bed before midnight. I have to have him back at school by 6:15 Saturday morning :faint: and if they advance to the finals that day, they won't be back until midnight again. I'm guessing they sleep veerrrrryy late on Sunday!! And then they luckily have Monday off for an inservice, so they can rest up more then. And I'll get to spend my birthday with my son, which is cool. It was nice of the school district to give them a day off in honor of my birthday, don't you think? :thumbsup2

Aside from the band awesomeness this weekend, DS and I also accomplished a lot around the house. It has been sooooo nice outside lately, and I was wishing for some fresh air in my house. I have a side patio with a big sliding glass door; There was a giant sliding screen for it, but it was torn up from the get-go and has lived in the garage for the almost-10 years I've owned the house. The thing is bigger than my car, so taking it someplace to be repaired wasn't an option.

Let me interject to say that I am *not* the handiest person, nor have I ever wanted to be. I own one screwdriver, a pretty little hammer with flowers on the handle, and consider changing a lightbulb to be a major home-improvement project. Just wanted to give y'all a frame of reference here, lol. :rolleyes1

So I get a wild hair up my butt Saturday and decide that we are going to attempt to rescreen that thing ourselves. I strolled into Home Depot like I knew what the heck I was doing, found the tools we needed, even found special "pet screen" that resists damage from animals and is supposed to be 7 times stronger than regular screen. (We have a dog and two cats.) We laid everything out on the driveway, jumped right in, and did it!! It looks so awesome, and better yet, I was able to finally get some nice fresh air into the house.

But it doesn't stop there... Being on a roll, I decided we would tackle my toilet that has been getting worse and worse. Something was breaking/broken in the flusher assembly thingy, and I was to the point of resigning myself to calling a plumber before it quit working completely. Well, I bought a kit and other parts to replace every single thing inside the tank, bought something called a channel-lock wrench (I really could have happily gone through life without knowing what a specific sort of wrench is called) and we got to work. We replaced everything, turned the water back on, tried it, and it flushes perfectly now! Yay us!! We're so proud of ourselves, lol. :goodvibes

Okay, enough of our weekend news. For you guys going the same time as us, can you believe that in less than 3 weeks, we'll be in double digits?? I love getting down to double digits!! I just wish they would hurry and extend the dessert party... that's a key part of my planning and I want to be able to plan around it. C'mon, Disney, throw us obsessive planners a bone!! lol

Sorry for the novel... lol Hope everyone has a great week!

Hear Hear Gina! Announce the Wishes Dessert Party already. :lmao:

Gina - my younger sister and her husband lived in Pearland for quite a few years before moving out here to Socal.

All quiet on the western front over here. I am as planned as I can get without the dessert party. My DH is so proud that I have not touched an ADR in almost a month. I just dont know how I could do better, for us than what I have already.

I told DS about the trip so far and his response was "well have fun". We always invite him, but he does not want to go.

We have been homebodies pretty much for the past few weeks. The lack of sleep from the new puppy is brutal. But she is so worth it. We do the dachshund races at Old World Villiage (local German area), every weekend and out little girl keeps getting better, plus she loves the people and the dogs. Hopefully the new little girl will be the same.

Other than that, nothing new on this front. I am hoping to be PIF by the end of October, but time will tell. :confused3

awesome that your will be PIF next month. I'm stressing about paying our off (we have 'til 1/10). Soon after booking DH took a job with a HUGE pay cut (teacher), and we've both been going crazy applying for PT jobs but neither of us have been able to get anything. If something doesn't come up VERY soon, I may have to think about shortening our trip. I can't give up the suite and get a regular room (don't ask why, I've never been able to do it. I think I have a phobia of sleeping in the same room as the kids :lmao: ) and I definitely don't want to postpone, or even move it up to a less expensive week and lose all my ADR's! :sad2: So the only remaining option would be to shorten it. We have 9 nights booked so even just cutting down to 7 would be a big savings (add in tickets, dining, etc.). We'll see!

ugh- i have to confess that I have been hiding from the dis lately. I am a home day care provider and lost one kid, almost lost a second due to parents' job losses AND our car broke down- all in the span of three days. I was super scared and depressed that we would have to really rethink our February trip- which would break my heart. DH picked up some extra days at work, and I have been watching some drop in kids so- looks like everything will be ok, and trip is still on......

Silly flights wont drop- I know there is still time but I cant get fully attached until the tickets are purchased....soon I hope

sigh

I'm glad you haven't given up on your trip!! It sounds like y'all need it more than ever.

I wish I knew what to tell ya about the flight thing... All I know is if it weren't for that airfare watchdog alert I received, I would have missed out on the Delta sale that couldn't have lasted more than an hour or two. Fares went right back to their insane level after that and haven't budged since for my route. I hope a sale comes your way soon!!

Gina, that's quite the accomplishments over the weekend!!

I have the itch to make some dining re-arrangements. I have an ADR at Tusker House the day we are at AK (just because it's convenient) but since the park closes at 6pm, I'm wondering if I should do something else - like 'Ohana's? I looked at their menu though, and honestly, I think I'd prefer Tusker House. But everyone raves about 'Ohana's. . . .

Our PIF date is Dec 26 (Merry Christmas :( )

Alli, I hope you guys can pull through and make your trip!! I hear you on expensive flights though, very frustrating!

Thanks! We're still stinkin' proud of ourselves. :goodvibes

What date is that? I've heard great things about Tusker House, but have never been there. But we loooooooove 'Ohana! Alli and I will both be there on the 15th, you should come too! Another mini DIS-meet! :)

Woo hoo! The first number in my ticker is 3!!!

:cool1: :cool1::cool1:

My sister just came home from a long weekend in Orlando. She went to WWoHP and MNSSHP. The kids and I are going to try some pumpkin juice  She also brought me a bunch of fliers and pamphlets. Do I need them? No. Do I want to pour over them at night like a sweet bedtime story? YES!!!! :upsidedow

Has anyone here ever done the campfire movie at Fort Wilderness? Trying to decide if it is worth getting over there one night for a movie and campfire with Chip and Dale...
Thanks for any info

This is for the 14th, we're leaving on the 15th :( Actually, now that I think about it, it's valentine's day so I may not find anything else available. . . I think I'll stick with TH.

Lynne- check out Boma for dinner- We LOVED it. It was so nice to leave AK and take a short bus ride over to AKL- which is BEAUTIFUL. We timed it so that we could have a bit of time to explore AKL before dinner. We ended up taking a taxi back to the hotel- seemed to be the easiest way to get back and cost around $20- but it was well worth it.

Gina- THANK YOU! :) Miss talking to you :)

Happy Wednesday all! Those of you who subscribe to the Touring Plans blog have already gotten this, but I wanted to share it for those who don't. They've started a new page just for ride closures/refurbs, and say they will be updating it every few days. It's clean and easy to read, and just a nice resource to bookmark.
