The Official DIS Oscars LIVE Watch Party Thread!!! TONITE!

Thanks for hosting Imzadi. The only 2 movies that I think I care to see after this are Wicked and Conclave.

That's a wrap! As always, these watch parties happen because of all of YOU joining in!

I just rent the thread room for US.

Thanks everyone! 💐

Meg looks so much better now she dissolved those weird fillers.
I missed the whole chat last night! I was messaging with my daughter and I couldn't keep up with two tasks.
I said to this to my dd last night. Meg looked wonderful again. I was so happy, them together makes me happy :-)

Adrian talked wayyyyy to long.
Kieran is always fun.
I thought Conan did a great job.
I was sad for Demi also, but I know that Mikey deserved it.
DD and I were going to see Anora yesterday but went to The Monkey instead LOL. We will see it at some point.
As someone who has seen Wicked live 8 times, that perfomance made me cry. I was surprised by that. I found it way more emotional than the movie version of the song.
I saw very few of the nominated films this year, so I didn't have a lot of stakes in any of the awards. I only saw Wicked, The Substance and A Real Pain.

One more thing, did anyone comment that Michelle Trachtenberg was left out of the in memoriam?

Everyone at Pixar must be feeling Sadness after a Latvian film “Flow” snubbed poor Riley of that golden statue.
IMO Flow (and really every nominee in that category) is a better film than Inside Out 2 so I'm happy it got the win. Not saying Inside Out 2 is bad btw. If you haven't seen it, I would definitely recommend checking it out.

There were a number of people left out. These are a few actors that I thought should have been included.

Olivia Hussey
Mitzi Gaynor
Tony Todd

Has anyone actually seen that movie that won all the awards, I see their gross is $15 million, and they complain no one goes to the theater anymore. Vote for films people actually saw!!!!

Conversing with one's child/parent should always take priority. Due to circumstances, some families aren't able to be fortunate enough to do that or do that anymore. :grouphug:

I think part of it was because they opened the show with that performance. I was expecting performances by the stars later in the show, and in context to the movie the songs were for, not about L.A. ❤️ Plus these women weren't acting their love of L.A. They really DO love L.A. :sad1:

I noticed that also

Yes, I noticed. Also Roberta Flack was missing. Her song, "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," is what launched her in the public eye as Clint Eastwood chose it for his movie, Play Misty for Me.

There supposedly is a cutoff date and then people are included in next year's Memorium. But, they can't include Gene Hackman who was found dead 4 days before and then not have the other two. :sad2:

:teacher: A little factoid: Right before the Best Actor category, Timothee Chalomet's mom sat next to him, with Kylie Jenner sitting right behind him instead of next to him, so his mom would be with him had he won.

As a boy mom I approve this message.

Also, the song, "(When I think of) Home" is not in Wicked, from what I see in the soundtrack list. That song is from The Wiz. So Cynthia specifically sang it for this tribute and is singing about loving L.A.

I couldn't find the full opening montage of films which include clips of Los Angeles that started the Oscars show last night. (Probably way too many films to get the rights for to show on YouTube.)

For those who missed the opening, about 10(?) movie clips were shown with scenes in which L.A was featured in the movies, and it became evident the montage is honoring and supporting L.A., after the devastating fires, and this is about "L.A. Strong ❤️".

As the final scene of the montage pans out, above the skyline of L.A. these words appear over the skyline: "We ❤️ L.A.", and we hear Dorothy/Ariana start singing:
