*** The Official August 2019 thread ***

Has anyone’s here booked the bounceback FD? We usually don’t because we have DVC and AP’s. But we are out of DVC points and sitting out our usual spring trip to wait for crowds to calm down- so FD would work this time since we can just pay to upgrade the required hoppers to AP’s when we get there in September . Now my sister and mom want to go too, so I was going to book 3 rooms at a moderate. Just wondered what availability looks like.

Not yet, but I will. Still trying to figure out my dates.

5 days left... wondering what is the craziest thing other people drag with them? I pack my espresso machine. Yes it takes up space and pounds in my suitcase but waiting in line at Starbucks takes precious time away from Disney fun!

I thought about packing a mini Kuerig, but my shoes may take over all available luggage space.

Our trip is 2 weeks from today!!! So happy for this thread. Everyone is so positive compared to some of the other threads, and I know we all get each other when it comes to Disney!

I know, I'm loving this thread too! We'll all have to post recaps when we return from our trips. Ours is two weeks from yesterday - 2 weeks from today will be our first full day at MK.
Once again, wishing everyone fabulous vacations! :cheer2:

We leave Sunday! I’m really interested in what the crowds will be like Aug 12-14 :scared: this is my first time in August but I’ve been in September and by the looks of what everyone is saying the weather won’t be too different either! I’m trying to figure out something special for my boyfriend and I to do during the trip that’s not too expensive, we are both 21 so I’m open to the idea of cool bars. Staying at the swan if that helps :) safe traveling everyone!

There are some nice evening activities on the Boardwalk. They have a juggler and magician and I don't remember what else. I think there is a new bar right there, too, between Flying Fish and Trattoria. You can just walk over there from the Swan.

The nicest resort lounge is Geyser Point at the Wilderness Lodge. It is open air and located on Bay Lake. You can see the electric Water pageant and the fireworks from MK from there. They also pipe in the fireworks music there.

Disney Springs has many nice bars and restaurants, too.

You can definitely go to abracadabar and jelly rolls on the boardwalk (DW and I are trying these for the first time this trip). there is also a "dance club" on the boardwalk called atlantic dance hall but I am not sure what to expect there haha. i also watched a youtube video recently and saw that the lobby bar in the dolphin looked really cool so we may head over there too one night. disney springs obviously is also a good place to go (wine bar george, edison, art smith's, etc.) as is trader sam's although we have never been there either, but going to try and squeeze it in this trip too :)

We haven't booked yet, but are planning/hoping on booking Dec 13-19 at Pop! We don't arrive for another week though so we still have to wait on that.

Anyone have which waterproof pouch they bought off amazon? I'm thinking of bringing an old Iphone 6 just to take to the water park one day for pics.

I have not tested these at the water park yet, so I can’t comment on how well they work, but I have an iPhone 8 and was able to use the phone through the pouch. Planning to do a water test on the pouch before actually putting my phone in water though! I also bought some waterproof fanny packs (I was thinking it would be good for our AP cards, event tix, IDs,etc. while at Typhoon Lagoon, but really I could fit our IDs/AP cards in the pouch with the phone since they are so thin. Both items were a 2 pack, so I didn’t think either was a bad deal!

Here’s the phone pouches:

Since everyone is going to Disney soon, the parks should be empty by the time the "end of the month" people, like us, get there. ;)

Three weeks from today will be my last day in the office before I retire. :cheer2:

Congratulations on your retirement! party:

Officially I can retire in June 2024 after 30 years of teaching. I still haven't decided if I will or not.

Here now at PORS. Went to Buffalo yesterday for park and fly hotel, then shuttled to airport at 4:00am this morning for our 6:10am flight! Arrived at PORS by 10:00am. We requested and received building 18, first floor. I like the renovated rooms. We usually stay in this area (preferred section, AB room). It's near a quiet pool and the food court / lobby- we like to be able to quickly get to food court for a cold drink with our refillable mugs. Our room was ready around 1:00pm so that was nice.
Since our room wasn't ready when we arrived (obviously we didn't expect it to be ready at 10am) the four of us went to Disney Springs (Wolfgang Puck Express) for lunch-we had 2 different kinds of pizza, a salmon dish, a meatloaf/mashed potatoes meal and cold beers/pop. So good. Love having the dining plan and ordering whatever we want without considering the price and having an alcoholic beverage is a treat for us.
Had swims / showers /relaxed in room and heading into MK tonight around 4:00pm- we have FP for Space, Splash, Big Thunder and 6:30pm Crystal Palace reservations too. I'm hoping to also do Buzz, Laugh Floor, Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion, but we'll see how tired we are and if we can last till midnight. So nice to be back at our laughing place!

We were exploring WL last summer, and we stumbled upon Geyser Point. We absolutely loved it, and we are definitely going back this trip. I didn't realize they pipe in the HEA music, so thanks for the tip! Think we will make a night of it at WL. I wonder how late the resort boats run?
