*** The Official August 2019 thread ***

I was able to book 8/14 this past Tuesday as soon as I saw the announcement (probably 1 pm est).

Im still looking several times per day without any luck. I wish I knew sooner, as its my DDs favorite. We were bummed with the initial announcement of closure 2 days before our FL arrival. I was then so excited when I read here they postponed the closure. Luckily I didnt tell my DD. She'd have me checking every second!

About a month ago, I selected our plain magic bands and got an email confirmation. Today when I logged in, our order isn't there so I ordered again and got another email confirmation that is exactly as the first. We will be 30 days out on Tuesday. Do you think we will get the magic bands or will we have to pick them up when we check-in? I do have bands active from a previous trip that we can use if we don't get the new ones in the mail.

It doesn't look like our selections are there anymore either. I haven't received an email, though, but the magic band page use to tell me how many days I had left to make changes and now that's gone, too. I'm hoping they arrive this week. We are at 31 days til our trip.

So on our way to church this morning, my hubby and I were talking. I told him on check in day I'd like to go check out the Polynesian and The Grand Floridian between our arrival time and our ADR for The Whispering Canyon Cafe. He then informs me he wants to eat at 'Ohana while we are at Disney. :earseek:I inform him it might be a tough one to get because its very popular. I pull it up and yep, no time available on either of the days we could make it work. So after church we are on our way out to eat to celebrate our youngest son's birthday (it was the 19th but because we had too much other stuff going on to celebrate that weekend we are just now celebrating) and I try again and I snag a 4:15 dinner. Its early, but doable. So I snag it up, cancelling Le Cellier to get this one. Then after lunch he is talking about the "show". I didn't think anything about it until we got home. I realize then its not 'Ohana he wants but Spirit of Aloha. So I tell him about it and how its in an open air theater, its gonna be August, but if he wants to I will reserve it, but it isn't available on the Monday nights so it would be hollywood studios day instead. Then I read some reviews and he isn't too sure. So I tell him if he wants a show to check out Hoop Dee Doo Revue. He reads about it and says book it instead of SoA. Okay, much more doable on the day we want it to be. So needless to say I cancelled 'Ohana and now have Hoop Dee Doo Revue booked instead. I told him no changing his mind now because it will be prepaid for. LOL I of course want to accommodate him because he is actually having input now. I just wish I could have gotten him to give some 150 days ago! :rotfl2:

Whew :scared:... the hoops we must jump through to keep everybody happy. There is no rest for Disney planners.

Tell me your secret. Ive been asking my DH for input for 30 years. I just get "I dont care" or "It doesnt matter":( I would bet anything he cant name one Disney restaurant even though he's been to WDW well over a dozen times and eaten at almost every TS 5 times each. I ask him to pick ONE place. Just ONE. Nothing.

HaHa. I wish I had a secret. I would definitely share it if I had one. I think its because he is feeling guilty for making a comment about all the stuff he could be getting done work wise the week of our trip rather than being at Disney. He was kidding, but I think he feels bad for saying it anyways so he is trying to make up for it. But I'll take it how ever I can get it.

I've found asking my husband "what do you want to do" doesn't work, but if I send him two menus (Homecomin' and Toothsome for August), he always has an opinion (Toothsome).

Did anyone need Beaches and Cream on 8/25? I don't think I'm keeping mine. DH originally wanted to eat there on a pool day but then it was closed for refurbishment so when it opened back up for ADRs I grabbed one. But he seems to have moved on to other options. Plus he thought Beaches and Cream was a QS and doesn't want to cancel one of our ADRs for it.

My DH loves to throw me a wrench in the month leading up to the trip. This year he finally sat down with me and went through each day before the 180 mark. The last couple of trips I've gotten tired of all the planning stuff so I think he was trying to avoid that as much as possible. Of course, things changed because other stuff came up like adding a day, fast passes not being available on certain days, etc. I think we're good now.

That's a good idea.

Ooo, what time and how many? This is our arrival day at YC and I wasn't able to snag one before they were gone.

No problem here with the husband having input, that is me, and I do 100% of the planning. My wife does have input, but she is a super picky eater, and as such, pretty much doesn't like anyplace we eat lol. She does like Coral Reef, not for the food, just for seeing the aquarium while we eat. She won't eat seafood at all, and isn't a fan of steak lol. She does go through menus with me, and does so before our 180 day mark, as she knows that I make ADR's at 180 days, and once they are made, that is it. It is quite rare for me to change an ADR after it has been made.

Today, we took attached our luggage tags to our luggage, and started sorting through some of the things we need to pack.
