*** The Official August 2019 thread ***

I've never had water/snacks/🍺🍷 shipped to my resort, since my parents would come to Disney with us and always drove in from S.C. and brought that stuff. For those who have stuff shipped, what company do you use? Garden Grocer, Amazon, etc...? I'm thinking a case of water in the room would be a good thing to help with staying hydrated in the August heat.

I've used Garden Grocer twice but I always ordered a large amount of items. I think this trip I just want to get a case of water or 2 cases of water and bring some snacks/breakfast items with me. I'm not sure where I'm going to order from for this. I think GG has a minimum and I don't think I'll meet it. This is on my list of things to look into. I don't have prime. I was thinking about looking into Walmart.

We've done GG and PrimeNow. We have a rental car for the first time, so I think we're just going to stop at Target.

I do have Prime so I'm thinking that is the best option for me. However, I haven't seriously started looking into this until now. I'm thinking I just want water and maybe a few snacks. It's just my daughter and I, so we don't need much else.

I have used Garden Grocer, Instacart, and Amazon Prime Now. Like someone else said, Garden Grocer is for when I have a bigger order. And I know well in advance what I need. Generally for our last few trips I make a list of what we need/want and look at the stock at each to see who has the most of what we want. Instacart has served us well. I love both Instacart and Prime Now partly because you can order a day or two or even a couple of hours ahead and the time slots you can choose are more precise. I actually use those two at home sometimes and have both apps on my phone. Last year I actually used both Instacart and Prime Now because I under ordered and needed more stuff during the trip.

This year, I'm likely going with Instacart again. On my list so far we have drinks (water, gatorade, and powerade for hydration in the parks, apple juice for breakfast, breakfast items like cereal, bagels, jelly, fruit, etc.) We have the quick service dining plan this trip so we won't need as much.

There's also WeGoShop I think it's called where they go to Publix or Wal-Mart for you. I looked at them as well. It was just last year they didn't have much of what I was after.

A long time ago we started using the brita water filter bottles. Our last trip we just ordered cases of water and found that we were rationing the water at the end of the trip so now we're switching back to the Brita Water Bottles. I found them at my grocery store for $8 a piece. They take the taste of the nasty florida water out and you can fill it up anywhere in the park without carrying around multiple water bottles all day.

I think I would like to do this instead of ordering bottled water. I'm tired of lugging all the bottled waters around.

That's a good idea, too. I really don't like the taste of the water at WDW even with flavor stuff added in. Hmmm... Decisions, decisions.

I am also hoping for some Happy Mail soon! I wasn't able to snag any of the 'fun' Magic Bands from MDE, but I did order some decals and sliders for my Fiance and I to celebrate our engagement!

I am putting together my August trip survival kit! I ordered my cooling towels, USB charging fans (the BEST), big hat, water bottles, sunscreen, and misters. Still need a few more things...but it's getting there!

I'd really like to carry less this trip. DD and I are hoping to carry the basics in waist packs. Phone, sunscreen, lip balm, tylenol, credit card. I don't want a backpack on my back or a crossbody strap around my neck.

I used to try to take as little with me as possible...but then I felt like I needed so much while in the Parks. So now I just carry a backpack! Works for us!

DD and I went through our plans to finalize them. I realize I have a ton of extras this trip. I bought them a little bit at a time, so the financial impact didn't seem so great. Initially, I was spending our savings from free dining, but I definitely went over that budget.

We have
villains DAH 8/1
H2O glow party 8/3
EMM at MK, dessert party at MK (terrace) 8/4
Frozen dessert party 8/5
EMM at DHS 8/7
Villains DAH 8/8
Star wars Dessert party 8/10
EMM at MK 8/11
DAH at AK 8/12
MNSSHP 8/16, garden dessert party & Cruella party--- but I need to cancel one and I can't decide which one

I wanted DAH at DHS but no dates during our trip, so I substituted DAH at AK instead. And, I let DD convince me to cancel a 2nd EMM at DHS on 8/14 and now it's sold out, but I really wish I hadn't cancelled it.

The only event I'm not too excited about is MNSSHP. My family had to talk me into it. The parties pre-2010 were awesome, but since then, they are just too crowded. Plus, the only date that works for us is opening night which is not ideal.

I feel like I add more extras each trip.

We will be at MK on the 4th and Epcot on the 5th and HS on the 7th. So we will be at the same parks those days. I'm not doing EMM or DAH any just because I wanna keep it more relaxed for hubby.

This year hubby and I have decided to carry very little. I will have a custom crossbody for days I wear leggings and wont have pockets. I have to carry my inhaler and headache meds so I have to have something.I'll also probably throw the sun screen in there so hubby will have it (pre cancerous spots so he has to use it regularly) I also have a minnie "wallet" lanyard for some days to hold my cards and money. Then I have a couple pairs of cargo capris I'll use some days.

I was planning on wearing flips the whole week. I till have my old pair of skecher go walks that I like to wear. I hate the under armour sneakers I bought last year. DH is trying to talk me into getting a good pair of sneakers for myself but I hate sneaker shopping. And I always feel guilty for spending a lot of money on sneakers. It's kind of ridiculous because I can literally wear the same pair of sneaks for 3 years so I'd definitely get my moneys worth. I've always had good luck getting pairs on sale so I think that's part of it. But now that I'm getting older, I feel like any old sneaker won't do. I'm not even sure where to start with sneakers. I've heard great things about Asics. I should go up to the outlets and check them out. I was able to find my daughter 2 pairs that had great reviews and were on sale on their website. Nothing for me but I need to go try them on anyway.

What brand flips do you like to wear in the parks? I have a couple pairs of yellow box ones that I like but I could use another pair. I wear flips everyday once spring hits.
I'm more of a converse girl so my sneakers last for years too. My old NB I love though They are supportive for my ankle so I'll be bringing them. I also have some new Skecher go walks I like okay but not as much as my NB. I'll bring those too. I like my skecher flip flops I got a few months ago but don't think I could wear them all day. I did buy some skecher outdoor lifestyle sandals today. They are ugly but I think they will work in the park. I'm gonna wear them regularly the next month and break them in so I can see how they feel and if I can wear them all day or not. They would work for days we ride water rides so I wouldn't have to bring flip flops on sneaker days.

Well, you are making me feel a lot better about the extras I bought this time around :) We are going to the DIS Pandora party on the 10th, EMM at MK on the 13th, Villains After Hours at MK on the 8th, and MNSSHP on the 16th.

I LOVE seeing all my fellow teachers here! I am having the same struggles...I really WANT it to be August, but I don't want school to start! I tried to snag the special MagicBands, but MDE kept giving me error messages. Oh well. I really want the new purple AP band, so I'll hold out for that one.

I am super excited because I will be celebrating big time on this trip. I just got ENGAGED, bought a house, and will be starting a new teaching job in August. I can't wait! Any suggestions for magical things to do to celebrate?
Congratulations!! One thing I am doing this trip is Savor the Savanna at AK. If you haven't done the KTTK tour, that would be fun too.
